My Messed Up Life
Chapter 14
Rose groaned as the sunlight streamed through the windows signaling the begging of the worst day of her life. She didn't want to get up. All she wanted to do was lay in this bed forever and forget where she was for the rest of her life, but she knew that wouldn't help her. Not by a long shot.
A knock on the door sounded as Elena opened it, tightly shutting the door before crossing over to where Rose's bed was and plopping down beside her. What the hell was she doing here?
"What's that face about?" Elena asked as Rose applied more blush.
"Are you seriously going to go through with this?"
"I have no choice Elena, but I wouldn't expect you to understand any of this. It's a pretty fucked up situation."
"Listen I know you don't think I understand the situation at hand, but I do know what it's like to be forced into something that you don't want. If you do this now, you'll be doing more harm than good in this situation. Is that what you really want?"
"I can't think about the future Elena. Right now, this is our best option and if I have to sacrifice my own happiness to make sure everyone else is safe then so be it."
"Have you thought if this is the best option for yourself?"
"No, Elena I have not, because when I make decisions for myself people end up dying."
Elena sucked in her lip trying to think of something else to say, but she knew deep down that anything she would say to Rose would be rendered useless. Rose had made up her mind and no one would change it for her.
"Would you at least consider talking to Dimitri before the ceremony commences?"
"What good would that do?"
"You deserve happiness Rose even if it's only for a stolen moment or two."
"I can't. I can't see him or else I'll break."
"Maybe you should allow yourself to for a little while."
Before Rose could answer a knock sounded on the door and Dimitri entered looking as dashing and as beautiful as ever in a tux that didn't really match his personality, but he wore anyway for the current situation. Elena looked between Rose and Dimitri before giving a sly smile and breaking the silence between the three of them.
"I'll leave you two alone to talk. If I know Damon, he's having a hard time adjusting his tie with all the liquor Mason has provided at this wedding." She said moving towards the door as panic rose in Rose's chest at the thought of Elena leaving her and Dimitri alone.
"Elena-"
But before she could fully get her name out Elena was gone leaving Dimitri and Rose to exchange words in peace. Dammit.
"What do you want Dimitri? Can't you tell I'm busy?"
"I just thought I would check on you and make sure if you were okay."
"Well as you can see, I'm fine, so if you don't mind, I have a wedding to get ready for."
"Actually, I do mind Rose, I think we really need to talk before you go out and do this."
"What could we possibly have to talk about? I already told you that I'm going through with this wedding. I have to if we want to get out of this."
"There has got to be another way of getting out of this Rose. You shouldn't have to sell yourself to this awful creature in order to get back home and to who you used to be. This isn't right and deep down you know that."
"There is no way out of this Dimitri. Why can't anyone understand that? This is the only way. The right way. So, it doesn't matter what I want or not, because I'm not the only person who matters here."
"You are so selfless sometimes that it hurts me Roza, I just wish you would think about yourself a little bit more somedays." He said as he stroked her cheeks.
"When I do that people end up dead."
"No ones going to die tonight Roza. You can give in just for a moment." He said as his mouth grew closer to hers.
"I can't Dimitri."
"Yes. You can." He said as their lips finally met in anticipation and consequences be damned for one excruciating minute she let herself give all the way in.
