Hi guys! Here's the next chapter. Once again, I want to thank everyone for the support. Enjoy!
Diana POV:
I dodge Giganta's punch, feeling its wind brush past me. I turn and I immediately throw my arms up, crossing my bracers to protect me from Sinestro's energy bolts. I'm still not quite sure why these two teamed up. No time to think about that now though.
I manage to deflect one of the bolts straight back at Sinestro. It stuns him. In the meantime I switch to the offensive, attacking Giganta. I fly at her landing punch after punch. Halfway through a punch I scream in sudden agony as an energy bolt courses through me. Giganta follows by slapping me hard enough to send me slamming into the ground.
I lay in the crater for a few seconds trying to regain my wind. I barely manage to escape being crushed by Giganta's foot. Before I can retaliate, I see something small and black arc through the air landing on Giganta's cheek. It pierces the skin, but to her it's no different than a pin. The gas that seeps out of it has a more potent effect though.
Another energy bolt sends my flying into a building, turning my attention back to Sinestro, but I hear the loud crash of her falling as the gas takes effect. Before I can even get back up though I see a flurry of batarangs bombard Sinestro. While he's distracted I'm able to get close enough to capture him in the Lasso of Truth.
After I finish securely tying him up, Batman finally comes out of the shadows. His gravelly voice tells me to "meet me on the Watchtower when I'm finished" before he and his voice disappear again.
After I pack the two villians into an A.R.G.U.S. prison truck I head up to the Tower.
First I go to the cafeteria to grab an iced mocha. Batman can wait.
Or so I think. I put a straw in my drink, and as soon as I turn around I am met by the dark shadow that is Baman.
"I told you to meet me."
"Yeah and I was planning to as soon as I finished grabbing my drink."
"Meeting room. Now."
We walk in silence, Batman obviously not planning to tell me anything until he is sure we won't be overheard. We walk into the room, the silence only broken by the opening and closing of the electronic doors.
Batman doesn't take long though to start reprimanding me.
"You should have called in backup Diana."
"I was fine Batman. It was just Sinestro and Giganta."
"Really? Because when I showed up it looked like you were getting your ass handed to you."
"They got in a lucky shot. It's no big deal."
"Then explain why," with lightning speed he jabs his hand into the forming bruise on my ribcage "that hurts."
I manage to hold in a groan before replying, "that will heal perfectly fine."
"The point is that you should have called in help, and that wouldn't have happened in the first place."
"Oh yeah because you always are the first to ask for help if the going is a little rougher than usual."
He steps closer before saying, "that's different."
I lessen the space between us even more before defiantly responding, "No it isn't. You just need to get off your high horse, and stop thinking that it's your job to make sure everyone but you is safe."
"I do not do that. I make sure we are using our resources well. If our best assest is useless in the next big crisis becuase subpar villains are able to 'luckily' break her ribs because she's too stubborn to call in for backup."
"Oh yeah and what about you? We need you just as much as me. Yet you would never call in for help."
"Either way Diana you should have called in for help."
"Make me."
My eyes widen in surprise as Batman rams his lips into mine, pressing his body tightly against mine. Emotions overwhelm me as the sudden passion melts into me. Then I think of Bruce.
I shove Batman away yelling "what in Hera's name is wrong with you? One minute you're complaining about everything I do wrong and the next you're kissing me. I can't believe you Mr. No-Dating-in-the-League. You told me there was no chance for us, and I've moved on. I'm seeing someone who loves and appreciates me. I don't need you anymore, and I'm done with these foolish games."
Breathing heavily, I storm out of the room before he can respond. In the hallways people step out of my way, and I make it to the monitor room in record time. Shayera is in there. Seeing my face, she doesn't even ask. She just says, "Cheetah just escaped. I'll beam you to where she's at."
Within a minute I've left the watchtower.
Batman POV:
As soon as Diana leaves I yank my cowl off. I pace across the room, thinking.
You let your emotions take over. You should have just told her. Now how are you supposed to do it?
