Yeah so Dave is a dumb jackass. Also this chapter may or may not give you feels and make you hate me. Idk.

"What?" I glared at my boyfriend as I crossed my arms and stopped outside the elevator. He flattened his hair then sighed.

"Look, if we can't agree on this thing, we…we juth aren't compatible." Sollux shrugged. I arched an eyebrow then narrowed my eyes.

"You and Dave are being jackasses to John." I stated firmly, and he sighed, adjusting his dual colored glasses.

"You don't get it. John did thith for attention." He replied, and I started to get angrier.

"No he did not! Stop saying that shit!" I snapped back.

"But it'th true! He wanted to thee how much Dave loved him!"

"He wanted to die because he thought Dave didn't love him!"

Sollux was about to throw another retort at me when a nurse walked up to us, looking a bit distressed.

"Are you Mr. Vantas?" She questioned timidly, and when I nodded, motioned for me to follow her back to John's room. I rushed in, and was shocked to see John's dad. I stayed by the doors as I listened to their conversation.

"Why would you do something like this, John? I was so scared when I heard you were in the hospital? How are you feeling? Should I bring you anything?" Mr. Egbert was pale as he held his son's hand and watched over him with a worried expression.

"I'm sorry, Dad. I—" John was starting to cry again, but his dad squeezed his hand and shushed him. I relaxed at this; maybe John's dad wasn't so bad.

"As soon as you're out of here, we're going back home, alright? I have the divorce papers from the court." Mr. Egbert told his son, who wiped his tears and looked down, nodding.

I felt horrible for him; I couldn't even express my sympathy for them. Someone yanked me out into the hallway, and I turned to see a pale Dave. He looked like he was starting to regret earlier.

I sent him a hard look. "You deserve this. You lost him, and I'm glad. He deserves someone much better."

Dave punched me in the face, and I gave a cry of pain, my eyes widening as I stared at the blonde. Yes, we had our differences, but he had never hurt me. His fists were clenched and he was breathing hard.

I expected Sollux to get mad at Dave immediately, but he just looked conflicted, opening his mouth and hesitating. My jaw dropped as I stared between the two. Mr. Egbert walked out of the room holding the divorce papers, I assumed, and looked at Dave sternly.

"I might not have been the most perfect father to him, but I treated him far better than you did." He walked down the hall to the elevator as I clutched my jaw, hissing in pain.

"Captor, we need to f*cking talk." I snapped as I grabbed him by the front of the shirt and dragged him back to the elevator. We were the only ones in the elevator, so I slammed the stop button.

"What the hell, KK?" Sollux sounded annoyed as the emergency lights flickered on. We both glared at each other, and I felt a sense of dread. Two days ago, we were happy and compatible, and now the chemistry between us was hate love.

"This isn't working out. It just isn't." I crossed my arms as he clicked his tongue.

"It was fine until you thtood up for John," He sighed, rubbing his temples. I grew even more enraged as I glowered at him.

"He's my best friend. Of course I'm going to—"

"But why if he—"

"Don't f*cking interrupt me!"

"Don't interrupt me!"

We both glared at each other again, and I felt that sense of dread coupled with a sinking feeling. This relationship had barely been going on for a week, and I had a bad feeling it was nearly over.

"Why are you always on Dave's side? You don't even know him!" I snapped, my mind red in anger.

"We do. We were friends in college, we DJ'ed together." He admitted, and I nearly slapped him, glaring as I held my own jaw.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"I didn't think it was important."

"Well it was!"

There was silence as the elevator lights flickered and the brightness dimmed. I stared at my boyfriend.

"This isn't working, Sollux." I shook my head slowly, and he nodded, agreeing with me.

"KK. I think we should break up."

IMPORTANT: if Sollux and Karkat break up, then the end of the fanfic will be close. However, there WILL be a sequel!

If Karkat and Sollux stay together, they will eventually break up and the fanfic will end, but that's later on.
