Switched - Chapter 14.
All gone wrong
With the first snow winter has finally arrived, covering the town with soft, white blanket. For someone it was the biggest fun, while for the others it was hell itself. The streets were decorated with colorful light, wrapped around the lamps and trees. Everyone prepared for the best event of the year, Christmas.
"Really we have to do it?" asked Mickey with a slight grimace as he slowly dressed up.
"Unfortunately yes, dear. It would be rude if we not accept their invitation." told him Minnie, struggling with the tie. Her mate went closer and gently took it away.
"You don't need it, sweet one." smiled the mouse, kissing her nose. She chuckled with a blush.
"You look gorgeous too." cuddled him kindly and caressed his big belly. Their offspring, answering her sweet gesture, softly kicked.
"My, its so active recently." huffed Mickey "And heavy..."
"Just hang on a bit more. Maybe a month or two." Minnie touched his cheek. He closed his eyes, enjoying the warmth of her hand.
"I try, dear. Better if we go, I'm getting hungry." this made the girl giggle.
"Fine, fine." nodded and helped him with the coat.
Year to year their good friend Daisy organized a Christmas party in the cafe and invited her closest friends and their mates. It was a kind of tradition, so declining the party was the biggest sin for the duck. Therefore, again, the mouse couple put on their disguise and headed to the cafe. The place was so warm and welcoming, compared to the chilling outside. As they entered, their noses were hit by the scent of fresh baked cakes and hot wine. The others were already there, chatting joyfully with each other. When they noticed the newcomers a wide grin appeared on Daisy's face and quickly went to greet her friends.
"Minnie! I'm so glad you arrived!" tweeted as she closed Mickey into a gentle embrace.
"Forgive us Daisy. I had some... trouble with the dressing." blushed and placed a hand onto his round belly.
"Aw it's alright. That's the main you're here. Come and take a seat. Are you hungry?" she helped with the coat and escorted Mickey to the table where the girls sat, leaving Minnie behind. She chuckled, then went to the fireplace, where the boys, chatted.
"Hey, guys!" she waved.
"Yo, Mickey. Want some beer?" grinned at her Goofy and handed a bottle to the mouse "Right from mah store."
"Thanks Goofy." Minnie slowly drank a little.
"You're kinda busy, aren't you? We barely seen you in our company." quacked Donald by her side.
"Y-yeah, forgive me." she nodded "The work and the courses took all my time. And soon we have to prepare for the baby either."
"Excited, ha?" Oswald hiccuped, leaning his shoulders to the edge of the fireplace. His cheeks were red as he gesticulated with his bottle "I shtill rhemembah when Ohtensia was phregnant with mah pups... gosh... that wash tha horror..."
"Geesh bro, you're already drunk?" grimaced Minnie by the strong scent of his breath.
"Nah, I just dhank a little..." giggled Oswald stupidly.
"You always forget you can't handle alcohol too much. Dude..." rolled her eyes the mouse, then glanced at the other side of the cafe, where Mickey was surrounded by the girls. Minnie felt a little envy. She wanted to talk with her friends like she always did, gossiping a bit or chit chatting. But at the moment she had another role to play.
"Do you plan something for Christmas?" asked Daisy, offering various cakes for Mickey.
"For Christmas? No... not really." Mickey chose a cupcake and slowly nibbled on it "Why you ask?"
"Oh I'm just curious. Me and Donald will go up into the mountains for ski and we'd like to invite you two as well."
"Daisy, are you serious? That's too dangerous in her condition!" frowned Ortensia at the duck. Mickey was really grateful for the cat's help. Neither he wanted to go such a long and tiresome trip like that.
"I'm sorry, Daisy, but Ortensia is right. If you not mind we'd like to spend the holiday in peace."
"Oh, uh, sure... sorry." Daisy blinked, she felt a bit stupid by her question.
"Hey, it's alright." the male quickly reassured the duck "A-and you girls? What will you do in the holiday?" turned to the others.
"Hm good question." scratched her chin Clarabelle "Maybe Horace will surprise me with something."
"I'm sure in one thing. The kids will assault Santa in the plaza." giggled Ortensia, the girls joined her joy. Mickey leaned behind on the chair, grunted softly and caressed his tummy.
"It's kicking?" wondered Daisy.
"Y-yeah. It wants to come out already." blushed the mouse shyly.
"Do you know it's gender yet?" asked Ortensia curiously.
"We'd like to keep it as a surprise."
"Too bad. Then we don't know if we should buy pink or blue clothes for your baby." sighed Clarabelle.
"Ah you really don't have to..."
"We insist." Told him the girls "It's a pleasure to help our friend." Mickey stared at them, his eyes slowly turned opalescent by the tears.
"Oh girls..." sniffed. On the other side of the cafe the males were more quiet, expect Oswald who just couldn't shut his mouth. He totted from a side to another and spoke such nonsenses.
"...a-and wanna know whut he jhust sayd? Ahahaha!" The others rolled their eyes, trying to ignore their foolish friend.
"Yeah, yeah, verrrry funny, brother..." sighed Minnie, but in the next moment the rabbit folded an arm around her neck.
"Yano, yanno... ya look reaaally shexy in these clothes, M-M-Minnieh..." giggled Oswald, but his sentence chilled the girl's blood.
"W-what are you talking about? I'm Mickey, y-you drunk fool." Stammered.
"Nah, M-Mickeh hus different shmell, hihi..." Minnie glared at him, then moved out his grasp.
"W-what a stupidity you talking about. I don't listening it anymore!" She said and stormed away. She hurried to the girls' table and grabbed Mickey's arm.
"Excuse me to interupt the chat, but we have to go home!" Stated, nudging her mate.
"But why, dear? We have so much fun..." blinked upon her Mickey confused.
"You need rest." Told him Minnie, then whispered into his ear "and your stupid brother is going to ruin everything if we stay." The male stared at her, nodding. They just managed to get their coats when Oswald entered the scene, leaning to a nearby table.
"Y-ya leavin'?"
"Unfortunately yes..." grimaced Minnie by his alcoholic breath.
"B-but why? We havin' sho much fhun. A-and ya two jhust act pherfectly tha each other."
"We don't know what you talking about, but this isn't funny." Narrowed his eyes Mickey, finally understanding Minnie's worry.
"Nah, I nevah jokin', Mick, mah bro..."
"Ehm, I'm Mickey." Minnie tried to correct him, but the rabbit shook his long ears.
"Nah-nah. I dunno how did ya do ith, bhut ya look pwetty, Mick. Lemme touchy..." Oswald made a wobbling step closer, Mickey gulped.
"Sorry Oswald, but I really need to..."
"C'moooon don' be shyyyy." Chuckled the hare " Hi-hi I whondah who will be da mommy and who will be da daddy."
"It's obvious. Now please leave us!" Minnie frowned at him, but they just couldn't get rid off the tipsy rabbit.
"Jhust a lil touchy... C'mooon bro." He grinned and grabbed Mickey's arm. The mous yelped and yanked back.
"Gah let me go, you fool!" Hissed angry.
"Haha dhon't be shooo mad, bro..."
"Shut up..."
"Pweaaase bro."
"I said shut the hell up!" He couldn't take it anymore. The roar burst out his mouth, echoing in the cafe. In the nexf moment every single eye stared at the trio. It was too late to fix his mistake, Mickey bit his bottomlips.
"What's going on here?" Asked Daisy as she approached with the others.
"I think big bro ish a bit anghry at meh." Hicupped Oswald, tapping Mickey's shoulder. The male shot a deadly glare and shook off his paw.
"B-brother? What does it mean, Minnie?" Asked the confused Ortensia, looking at Mickey.
"I am Minnie." The female mouse sighed sharply. Their friends turned from a mouse to another.
"H-hold on a second! If you're Minnie..." pointed at her Clarabelle "then Mickey..."
"That's right. I'm the pregnant one here." Frowned Mickey. Hearing his statement the cow fainted and fell into Horace's arms. They were astonished. Mickey and Minnie lowered their heads to endure their glare.
"L-let us explain..." tried Minnie, but it was useless.
"What kind of... sick game is this?" Stammered Daisy with a grimace. Behimd her Goofy and Donald changed a look.
"I luvvv yar pwetty dress, deah bro." Burped in Oswald, whereof the males stiffled a mocking chuckle.
"Now you say, indeed he looks kinda weird." Added Donald. Mickey clenched his fist, his shoulders trembled as he fought with his emotions. This was too much for him.
"Screw you all!" He bellowed with tearfull eyes and rushed out.
"Mickey!" Minnie looked at the girl shamefully, then lowered her eyes and hurried after her mate, followed by their 'friends' sour, astonished glances.
