FUN DRINKING GAME. TAKE A SHOT FOR HOW MANY TIMES THEY SAID SANCTUARY DURING THE START AND TO MID-POINT OF THE GAME.
Fifteen hours. It took FIFTEEN HOURS to reach the mainland where Sanctuary is located on. And let me tell you, everyone is happy to get off the boat. "Finally, on dry land." Said Salvador. Giving the dirt and snow a good kick. As a born native to Pandora, dry land is something they like more then the ocean. "Wouldn't have been so bad if we had some entertainment to pass the time." Said Gaige, turning to look at the boat. "Are you coming Claptrap!?"
"You guys go on ahead. Tell the locals what we'll require for my 'welcome back' party. I'll stay in here and give 'em time to get what we need. Number one: Ladies. Obvious. Number two: Dudes. But hideous one, we're talking about morbidly obese." The gang just walked away while the robot kept on talking about the items his party needs. "Guys look, there's a bridge." Raven points to a metal bridge built over and between a huge gap of ice.
That meant only one thing. They're getting close to their goal of reaching the city of Sanctuary. Just then a loud roar of an engine can be heard getting closer. "It's coming from across the bridge." Stated Zero. Suddenly a truck drives over the bridge and skids to a stop, the rear end facing the cliff edge. Rockets are shot out from the truck, which destroys the bridge. "Sanctuary's off limits. You Bloodshots can stay in your hole." Said a male's voice through their Echos.
The person driving the truck takes off. However another truck, but this one in the usual bandit stuff hops over the gap. "I SEEEEEE YOUUUUU!" Says a new voice. The other man sighs and tells his pursuer to head on back to their camp. "Oh! Good idea! I think we'll just turn around and head back to our... DIE!" Gunshots can be heard being fired over the Echo. It then cuts off, leaving the spot where the Vault Hunters are standing to be quiet. "That was. Interesting." Axton didn't know what to say to what they just saw.
Few moments later the ever mysterious lady appears again. "Pandora is a violent and dangerous place. Sanctuary is... slightly less so. You'll need a car to reach the city gate. Get to a Catch-A-Ride." With another goal added to the list. The gang moves forward. Killing some more bullymongs, everyone finds the Catch-A-Ride.
Maya presses her gloved on the screen to get them cars. But the green hand on the screen turns red. Locking all Seven Vault Hunters out. "Whoa, unauthorized user up in my grill! You trying to hack my Catch-A-Ride? Uncool bro, uncool." Said voice with a southern twang through the machine. "Now what?!" Salvador growled.
Walking up the machine and standing next to it. The red head removes some panels, "Give me a minute or two. I think I can hack... or I might break it. Robots are clearly more of my thing." Like Gaige said. In two minutes Gaige was able to hack the machine. The red hand turned back to green.
Digistructing themselves some wheels. They each pair up in a car. Unfortunately since there's an odd number of them. Raven has no one manning the machine gun of her car. "Sorry Chica. You gonna be ok with no gunner?" Asked Sal. "Yes, I'm pretty sure having three fully manned cars will clear the way of all bad guys trying to kill us."
After that they press on the gas and drive off. The long cave they're passing through is homed to some big bullymongs. But driving in fast cars made it easy to avoid them. "Sometimes I envy you bandits. You're so... unburdened with things like intelligence, culture, morality, honor, ambition, good looks... I could go on, but I won't. But I could... ah, dignity! I almost forgot to mention dignity." In the background a horse is making distressed sounds. "Easy Butt Stallion! Easy!"
"Can't we just shut him up?" Asked Sal over the Echo. As the car engines and the loud winds make it difficult to talk to each other directly. "Pretty sure that won't stop the jackass. He'll find a way to contact us again." Answered Gaige. Eventually the cave ended and the large group finds themselves in a open snowy area. In a few places are strange looking plants and a oil digger.
Still following the map marker. The Vault Hunters spot a large thick gate and on its left is small shanty town. Pulling up a little and coming to a stop. All of them see a bandit pounding on the gate. "Lets us in grinder! We're just gonna kill every last one of ya!" He yelled.
Getting a funny idea in his head. The gunzerker whistles to get the guy's attention. "Hey buddy! You need help with that?" The marauder didn't turn around right away and instead did it slowly. "About time you guys showed... up." His voice dropped into a whimper when he saw five car's guns pointing at him. He couldn't say anything else as he's turned into a bloody red mist.
Though his friends from the shanty town heard the noise and left their homes to see what is happening. Upon spotting the Vault Hunters they opened fire. It took a minute for every last bandit to be killed. Getting out of their cars. The seven head for a cylinder panel. Pressing the button on it. A 3D image of a man wearing aged and horribly put together Crimson Lance armor appears.
"You're never getting into Sanctuary, you Bloodshot skaglicks!" Though upon seeing the people from his side. He can tell they're not with the Bloodshots or any other bandit groups. "Wait a minute. You're Vault Hunters. Just a sec, Roland wanted talk you guys! Lemme Echo him!"
A few seconds later a new voice speaks through their Echo devices. "Ah, so you're the ones I've been hearin' all this radio chatter about. Name's Roland - used to be a Vault Hunter like you, until I formed the Crimson Raiders. We'll catch up when I get back to Sanctuary. For now I need your help. My men tell me Corporal Reiss hasn't returned the power core we need to keep the city's shields running. Bring Reiss back to Sanctuary , and you'll earn your place in the Raiders." Roland ends the transmission.
"Uhhhhggggg!" Groaned the commando and he continues. "Every time we take a step forward to reaching this place. We end up going two steps back." Crossing his arms over his chest. Zero says, "I'll admit/It is getting a little annoying/Just let us get into the city already."
So with no other choice they get back into their cars and drive off to find this Reiss. Suddenly another great shake of the ground happens. Causing everyone to stop driving. As it finally settles down. A familiar voice is on the Echo. "Handsome Jack here, reminding you not to worry your pretty little heads about those earthquakes. See, with every tremor, my drills get closer to the vault. To freedom, order, and safety for us all. Except you asshats in Sanctuary."
More driving later, they reach a spot where a freshly wrecked truck on fire can be seen. Clearing out the bullymongs, Maya mentions they seen that truck before. It was true. It was the same truck and its driver that destroyed the bridge.
Looking around the area for a bit. One of them found a Echo recorder. Pressing the play button for all to hear. "Got the power care from the Bloodshots... blew the bridge... I'm hit... gonna lose them in the marrowfields." It ends with him screaming in pain. "Reiss is in trouble? Dammit, we're spread thin enough as it is. Find him, soldiers."
On their maps, the marrowfield is marked by the diamond shape icon. "Hope we find this Reiss still kicking and not kicking the bucket." Gaige said with some concern in her voice. Driving to the area where the field is. They get out of their cars and tread their way through the fields. Which happens to be bullymong grounds.
Killing the four-armed animals and continuing to follow the icon. The seven Vault Hunters walk up to a sight of a man being ganged up on by three bandits covered in red tattoos of red eyes with splatter on them.
Raven raises her S&S gun and kills them. Quickly they rushed over to the man in old Lance-men armor. Who's curled up in a ball and holding something close to his chest. "Vault Hunters? Didn't think I needed that rate of a rescue. I manage to hold onto the power core, the city is going to need it. Please take it."
With shaky arms he hands the core over to Gaige who takes it and puts it in her backpack. "Trooper, can you walk?" Axton asked. Reiss shakes his helmeted head and tells them the Bloodshots got him good. Krieg gets out a healing hypo and kneels in front of Reiss. "It's ok. It's a gooood touch." The psycho said creepily.
At first Reiss was correct to be wary. But Maya said he doesn't have to be worried because Krieg's a Vault Hunter and he's with them. Injecting the needle into his arm and inserting the red serum. Reiss' breathing is a bit more steady but he still needs to see a doctor, and soon. Healing hypos are a jump in the medical field but even it has limits.
A good thing for him they have something better than a doctor. Raven grabs Athena's orb and flicks into the air. A second later the lioness appears and lands on the snow covered ground. "Athena. Give this man some medical aid" Raven ordered. Athena steps in front of the trooper and places her paw on his torso. A light-blue aura starts surround Reiss.
Few seconds later the aura goes away and the man stands up. "Whoa! The pain is gone and I'm completely healed. Thank you!" He said in a grateful tone. Asking his does he need a light back to the city. He declines, saying he'll make his way back on his own and that they pretty much cleared the way for him to make a safe trip.
So heading back to their cars and getting in them. They drive back to the gate. Roland gets on the Echo, "Thank you saving Reiss, I'll have a few men sent over to pick him up. Take the core back to the city. We'll meet up once I get there. Welcome to the Crimson Raid..." Gun fire over the Echo cuts of Roland. "Dammit! I'm being ambused. I'll meet you..." The transmission ends right there.
