"My first week 'officially' living there, was filled with mainly tests of some of my abilities and my knowledge of all species," Lianna said, reaching into the microwave to grab a piece of bacon. "It was freaking, boring shit, but I guess it was better than the progression of number of shots I got every week after all the tests,"
"Was that the start of your...you know...," Peter felt it hard to say it to her, but then again, she was just chewing on a piece of bacon like a cow at the moment. "T-The...the beginnING-"his voice cracked a little, "of your...symp-toms?"
"My mutation, you mean?" she said, looking at him with an emotionless face. Peter gulped and shook his head, looking away. "It's nothing to feel ashamed to say to me, Peter. I may remember all the horror and pain I have went through that time, but it's not like just hearing the word causes a major traumatic flashback,"
"Ok then," he said, feeling a little awkward placing himself in this situation. "M-May we continue?"
"Yes we can," she said, going to her seat. She stopped and quickly whipped back around to grab five more pieces of bacon. Peter just chuckled.
"I'm gonna try to fast forward to the nearing of Groot's appearance," she said, munching on a piece of bacon. He nodded and she began again.
It had to have been two months since I had began to get those 'medical reasoned' shots. The first week was fine, got a little sore in my arms and legs, but was just fine. But then the next week seemed to notch up the shots to about two, and a rare headache would visit. It wasn't until one month had passed when I had some serious symptoms.
I would now and then have an excruciating headache and an every fourth day, midnight vomiting session. I was so lucky Rocket was kind enough to help out when it happened. There was also the drastically body temperature changing. When I over-heated, I would roll up my white uniforms pants and take off my shirt. And when I grew very cold, I would almost cocoon myself in my hair wrapped with a blanket.
Lianna just softly giggled then.
"What is it, Lianna?" Peter asked, thinking he missed a joke in the story.
"It's just I remembered something," she said smiling.
"What was it?" he asked.
"I remember when I grew unbearable hot again and Rocket was just coming in the room," she said, beginning a little short story. "The door closed and he asked me why I had my shirt off. I just sat there in my bra blushing and trying to cover myself, but it was just so damn hot for me. I just told him I was really hot and he was just like 'ok'. But then as soon as he sat by me he asked 'what are these?' and pointed to my boobs," she began to crack up a little at the end, hearing Peter chuckling across from her.
"Did he really ask that?" he said, cheeks growing faintly red from his laughter.
"Yeah! And so I'm like 'shit, what I tell this kid?' So all I said was they were just extra muscles on my chest; help pad me from a punch," she snickered.
"Oh my god, then what did Rocket say?" he laughed.
She snorted at first, and then said "'I wish I had some too'!" They both just blew up with laughter, but stopped to the sound of someone moaning in their sleep. Lianna got up from her seat and looked around the corner, finding Groot anchored to the wall like she remembered and Rocket curled up on his lap. He then out-stretched his body and yawned, making her think he was waking up, but he just repositioned himself to lie against Groot's chest.
"What was that?" Peter asked, trying to see what she was looking at.
"Just Rocket," she replied. "Good thing he didn't wake up yet. He would've interrupted the story,"
"Why doesn't he like to tell us about it?" he asked, placing his elbows on his legs and resting his head in his palms.
"Because he suffered more from that time than me," she said, moving back to her seat. "He seen more horror and felt more pain than me, and just remembering all of that just unbalances him, explaining why you guys see him get angry, upset, and even horrified to the topic of it,"
"That explains it then," he said, but soon realized they were getting off topic. "Where did we left off again?"
"Oh yeah, the midnight shot appointment," she said.
I was just laying there in the room snuggled up with Rocket. The bottom of the metal door was lifted up a little to let in some light during the night. It was allowed only for us since Stein trusted me for some reason. No idea why. But then came along the queue.
My stomach began to very slowly churn, and I tried to settle it. I looked at my watch and saw it was eleven forty-five.
"Damn it," I quietly cursed. It was going to happen soon, and I would ruin another perfect night of sleep for Rocket. I felt like with Rocket having to start take care of me now and then it kinda matured him. He was still childish at times, but when it came to my symptoms, he automatically goes into a matured-person mode.
But then light blinded my eyes. I looked away at first, but then heard someone.
"Lianna," It was Stein.
It surprised me to see him up at this time, and requesting for me.
"Lianna, wake up," he then had came over and shook my shoulder. I slowly got up and rubbed my eyes, faking the expression of just waking up.
"Oh..., hi Doc," I tiredly said, rubbing my eyes.
"I'm sorry to wake you up in the middle of the night, but apparently we forgot to give you a shot today," he said, moving back to give me room to stretch over Rocket.
"Ok then," I yawned. I straightened my shirt and followed Stein out into the hallway, watching him close the door and walk towards the same room I've been going to while Rocket's been learning stuff. But just then, my stomach kicked me. I moaned a little to the pain that grew inside me, and apparently caught Stein's attention.
"Are you ok?" he asked.
"Y-Yeah, just tired," I replied, crossing my arms across my stomach.
"Again, sorry for the interruption," He seemed so caring for some reason, and I didn't know if I should fear that or admire it. He did have me strapped down to a board just to draw my blood, but he was nice enough to let me stay with Rocket and give us more food.
Soon we had made it to the room and I got the shot done and over with, but brunette seemed to have something else up his sleeve.
"Well, glad that's over," I said, sliding off the stool and stretching my arms. "Am I actually getting that one week break from the shots?"
"Y-Yes, you are," Stein said, seeming nervous all of a sudden.
"Alrighty then," I said. "I think I should back to my room; Rocket probably figured out I'm gone by now with no warmth comforting him,"
"Warmth~"Stein muttered, loud enough for me to hear it. "U-Um Lianna, can I tell you something?"
"Sure," I said, closing the door and turning around, "What is it?"
"For some time now, since we've been around each other since testings, I feel like something...grew...between the both of us," He drew close to me, and panic slowly flooded my mind as I stepped back.
"I felt these warm, fuzzy feelings inside me, and it grows just everytime I'm around you," Soon I was against the door, and he showed to stopping in growing closer.
"And so I've made it clear now to say that...I lo-," Just then it struck midnight, and my session happened luckily right on time.
I quickly covered my mouth and it came up, seeping through my fingers. Stein was just horrified, and I couldn't help but to mentally smile.
"Oh my god-Come here!" Soon he quickly pushed me over to a tall, metal cylinder, letting me expel my nasty substance. "Are you ok? I mean, did you eat something bad?" he was in full care-taker mode once I finished.
"No, I'm fine," I said, wiping my mouth. "This is normal,"
"Normal!? What do you mean 'normal'?! How long has this been happening?!" I was glad he was worried about my health and all; he even gave an additional four days of no shots just so he could make a remedy for all of the symptoms. But that caused the dangerous side-effect. Something I never knew I had until Groot showed up.
We were just sitting in a room. Stein called us both to tell us something very important when we heard a commotion outside.
"What was that?" I asked, looking at the door behind us. "It sounds like there's a fight outside,"
"It's probably nothin', Lianna," Rocket said. His speech improved a lot, but the teachers don't like the accent he been forming. He had lost most of his childish ways over the time being, but I know it's because of the discipline he's been getting since his brain should be 'maturing to its age'.
The banging got louder and I swore I heard a scream. "Are you sure nothin's goin' on out there?" I asked, feeling a little paranoid that something might burst through the door.
"Oh, that's just the new capture," Stein casually said, shuffling some papers together. "We had a call for it last night, someone reporting there a humanoid, plant-man outside their house and playing with their children,"
"Just another freak to add to this place," Rocket murmured. Stein looked at him with a hellish glare, making him sit up straight and say "S-Sorry, sir,"
Stein cleared his throat and said "Now, what I wanted to tell you is I have some good news and bad news," Not one bit did that sound good. "Good news is Rocket has accelerated in his English and math, meaning we can go to his hands-on tests. Also, from what I've observed, you have recovered from your symptoms, correct?"
"Yup, haven't gotten sick, hot, cold, or have any headaches," I replied. "I'm glad you're well," he smiled, but it diminished when he went on to the bad news.
"The bad news is Rocket will have to go through some tweaking surgeries if he fails to meet the scores needed for his determined abilities," Rocket looked at me with fear in his eyes. "Also, there has been some complaints by some of the teachers, so we're gonna need to-"
Just then the door was broke down by a scientist. I quickly got up and inspected him. He was beaten up and was bleed from his arm. His legs looked broken, and he was covered in leaves for some reason. I looked up and all I saw was a tendril dragging a screaming scientist down the hall. I got up and went to go find the creature when I felt Rocket, and surprisingly Stein, grab a hold of me.
"Don't go out there, Lianna!" Rocket cried, clutching my pant leg.
"Please, Lianna, you'll get hurt!" Stein warned, holding my shoulder.
"I'm not gonna stand here and let people die!" I pulled out of both their grips and ran down the hall, following the sound of screams and roaring. I heard someone behind me and saw it was Rocket and Stein chasing after me from far behind. I just ran faster until I saw it.
It was like watching a horror movie. The creature almost looked like a walking tree covered in tough vines and moss, with blood painted on his hands. He roared with outrage as he slammed a scientist into a wall. I heard some others coming.
I shook out of my paralyzed state and got into a battle stance, expanding my fists some. I charged at it and locked a hand on his arm, ripping the hurt scientist from its tendrils. The creature grew more furious and grabbed a hold of my arm, me quickly setting the person down before locking arms with the alien plant.
"Lianna!" I heard Rocket yelled. I looked back to him, but was soon slammed into a wall, hurting my back. Rocket just gasped as Stein finally showed up, pushing a button on the wall to alert everyone.
"I am Groot!" the beast yelled, pushing me farther into the wall. I pushed against 'Groot's force to allow enough room for me to level to its height. It seemed confused at first from my action, but just shook it off and went to push me back again. I whipped us around and pinned it to the wall this time, but it slashed my face with a tendril and I stumbled back. I tripped over a piece of tile and fell on to my bed, making myself vulnerable to it.
"Back off, you hunk of wood!" Rocket got in front of Groot and took a piece of loose concrete, throwing it at its chest.
"I am Groot!" it yelled again, snatching Rocket up in its hand, squeezing him and making him groan in pain.
At that moment everything felt like it slowed down. My head suddenly began to pound and my stomach was spinning. My body soon became cold and my heart raced. I squeezed my eyes shut and tried to figure out why all my symptoms came back at once. And then it happened.
I shot my eyes open, feeling the immense rush of my blood. I went to puke, but I swallowed it down. I felt myself gradually grow bigger and bigger, until my eye level was above Groot's. My teeth and nails grew sharp, and my skin turned grey. The only thing on my mind was to destroy.
I lunged at Groot and ripped his arm off, tossing it aside with Rocket locked in the dead grasp of the wooden hand. I grabbed its shoulders and threw it into the wall, causing a huge dent. I growled in its face and squeezed its shoulders, letting my nails puncture its barky skin.
"Don't you touch my friend!" I screamed, my voice dark and horrifying. I continued to crush it with my hands when I heard someone yelling. I couldn't make out who it was and what they were saying. In fact, everything around me became silent. I just continued to glare at it and crush it with all my might, but then, I saw the look of fear in its eyes.
"I'm...the monster," I said, suddenly regaining all of my hearing. The alarms were blaring all around me, and then I heard someone shout.
"Fire!" I was about to look when something sharp pierced my thigh.
"Ow!" I yelped, un-clutching my hands from Groot and pulling the object out. I looked at it, and saw it was a tranquilizer.
"Shiiiiiit," My voice slurred and I felt myself being to lose balance. I heard muffled voices in front of me. My vision grew blurry and dark. The last thing I remembered was Rocket, frantically pulling down on someone's coat.
Lianna looked down at her hands, remembering all the horrible things she did to her friends.
"Are you ok?" Peter spoke, catching her attention.
"Um, yeah, I'm fine," she said, running her hand through her hair as she dropped its ponytail form.
"You can stop now if this is bringing back too much," he said, laying his hand on hers.
"Oh no, I don't wanna stop you from knowing the rest, it'll make another cliffhanger," she said, looking at him with a 'I'm fine' look.
"Lianna, I'll be fine. Besides, everyone's gonna be waking up soon and we can just continue this afterwards," he said, gentle grasping her hand in his.
"But Peter, you really wanted to hear this,"
"I know I did, made the whoooole box of bacon just to hear it all, but teammates come first on this ship, and I say we continue after breakfast. Starlord's command,"
Lianna smiled and rested her other hand on Peter's. "Ok then," she said. "We'll continue after breakfast as you wish,"
Peter then chuckled. "I kinda don't know if I should be happy or freaked out that you sound like my mother so much,"
"Be happy, I'm glad I remind you of your mother," she said giggling, "Cause I want everyone on this ship to know that I'm there for them and I will care you,"
"Thanks," he said, smiling to her as she smiled back.
"You're welcome," she said, standing up then. "Now, let's get these sleepyheads up and about before the food goes bad,"
I didn't plan for the rest of the biography to be put on a fourth chapter, but I don't want the chapter to look like it was 20 pages long, so fourth one it'll be.
Also the climax is coming up soooon~ ;) Probably just a few more chapters and then BAM! Total plot twister! So keep reading if you wanna see what happens soon!

P.S.- I just realized that if you abbreviate the story title, it spells 'YAMS'. Why didn't I see this ("-w-)
