Clary's POV

The next morning the baby woke us up early.

I remembered today was the day we were going on the defensive against the Governor.

After I got dressed and fed the baby, Daryl and I packed our "bug bags" in case things got bad.

I joined Maggie in packing bags into vehicles.

"Heard you and Daryl last night. Making the most of what could be our final hours?" she asked.

I smirked. "Something like that. Heard you and Glenn are married now. Congrats."

"Hell of a way to spend our honeymoon, huh?" She asked.

"They'll be writing songs about it." I teased.

Once Maggie and I finished packing, I went to talk to Jamie.

"Baby I don't want you to be scared, but there's a chance me or someone else in this group might not make it. Someone could die. I'm not saying it to scare you. I just want you to be prepared."

"I don't want to lose anyone else." She said sullenly.

"I know. I'd love it if all the walkers and evil people just disappeared and everyone we loved could come back, but it's not the way the world works. You gotta be strong."

"I'm trying. I'm just sad."

I stooped down to her level and gave her a hug. "It's okay to be sad."

"Now, if anyone you don't know finds you or if you're in trouble, you shoot to kill, no questions asked. Then you run. You run and find Daryl. He'll keep you safe." I told her, holding back tears.

She nodded her head and wiped her eyes.

"Now go hide in the kitchen, back of the pantry. Just like we showed you. Carl's gonna be with Hershel and Beth outside the prison in the woods. I'll be with Carol and Maggie in the bridge over the courtyard. Glenn will be near the gate. Rick and Daryl are working the generator room and the tombs."

She took it all in and threw her arms around me.

"I love you so much." I told her.

"I love you too." She responded before running to the pantry.

It wasn't long before we heard vehicles coming down the road. From where I was standing, I saw two large military vehicles and a large pick up truck pull up to the fences. Suddenly one of the guard towers exploded. The heat from it was sweltering.

"You okay?" I asked Maggie, who'd ducked from the debris that had fallen.

She nodded and we returned to hiding on the perch.

I saw the men blow up another guard tower, then rip through the walkers in the yard. They finally breached the fence and wandered the yard.

The Governor was right under me.

I noticed Carol take aim with her rifle.

"No!" I mouthed, placing my hand over the barrel.

If she shot him, all his men would be on us. We wouldn't live through the shootout.

Eventually the men moved on and went inside. I whispered a prayer that Rick and the rest of the crew would be safe.

Jamie's POV

Everything was quiet. The pantry was a tight fit and my back was cramping. I suddenly wished I were outside feeling the cool Late September/early October air on my skin instead of the sweltering heat of being packed in this tiny ass pantry.

To keep from leaving my spot I mentally thought of where our group was.

Clary, Carol, and Maggie were on the bridge.

Glenn was at the gate in the cage. It was only shouting distance from the bridge.

Rick, Daryl, and Michonne were in the generator room and near the tombs.

Carl, Hershel, Beth, and Judith were in the woods south of the prison.

Just then I heard talking. It didn't sound like anyone I knew. Shit!

Silently, I prepared my gun and prayed the men would leave.

"Doesn't look like they got much food left." One guy said.

"Be a shame if someone took it." Another guy said as he stuffed a can in his bag.

Through the slats in the pantry door, I saw him walk towards me.

Vainly I tried to slide backwards till I became invisible, but sadly it didn't happen.

The man opened the door, scanning the shelves…till he saw me on the ground.

"What the—."

In panic, I shot the guy in the knee and crawled out. Then the blessed sirens sounded, thanks to Rick, Michonne, and Daryl.

The two other guys who were with the guy I shot, started after me, but I put some iron in them. I wasn't sure if I killed them, but I wasn't gonna stick around to find out.

As I ran, I could hear yelling, gunshots. and those sirens. Thanks to all the noise, I was gonna have about twenty or so walkers on my ass in a few minutes.

The closest group to me was Daryl's, so I ran towards the generator room. Even if walkers were following me, they'd meet their match against Daryl's crossbow and Michonne's sword.

I looked back and saw a crap load of walkers after me.

I cried out in shock when something grabbed me up. Instinctively I started kicking and attempted to scream, but whatever had me had a hand over my mouth.

"Jamie, calm down. We gotta go." I felt my body relax when I heard Daryl speaking to me.

He started leading me through the tombs. So far, no walkers…that was until something grabbed my leg.

I fell flat on my face and frantically started kicking the damned thing. I then saw more walkers following us.

"Please don't let them get me!" I yelled out, terrified. I didn't want to die; not like this.

Daryl then bashed the walker that was trying to eat my leg in the skull and grabbed me up, carrying me through the tombs.

We got to the gate and Daryl locked it behind us. As he carried me, I looked back and saw the faces of the undead. They looked so scary in the dim lighting.

"We're here. Can you walk?" Daryl asked.

"Y—yeah." I said, trying to find my voice.

"Why were you running anyway? Coulda got killed." He questioned.

"There's three people from Woodbury in the pantry. They found me, tried to kill me. I shot them."

"You kill them?"

"I left that to the walkers."

He put me down on the ground and I looked around. I smelled gunpowder, which smelled really good for some reason.

I then saw our group and began taking a head count.

Daryl, Rick, Michonne, Maggie, Glenn, Carol, and Clary were all safe. Immediately I ran to my sister's side, thankful she was okay.

"We did it. We drove them out." Rick told us.

"We should go after them." Michonne voiced.

"We should finish it." Daryl agreed.

"It is finished." Maggie protested. "Didn't you see them hightail it out of here?"

"They could regroup." Michonne argued.

"We can't take the chance." Glenn added. "He's not gonna stop."

"They're right. We can't keep living like this." Carol voiced.

"So we take the fight back to Woodbury?" Maggie asked. "We barely made it back last time."

"He don't care." Daryl told her.

"I'm not resting easy till I see a knife rammed through that guy's head." Clary told us.

Rick just took everyone's comments in. "Let's go check on the others."

We all followed him inside. Hershel, Beth, Judith, and Carl were already there waiting.

Carl talked to his dad then went to his cell. I followed him while all the other adults talked. Seems they were planning on taking Woodbury.

Clary's POV

"You going to Woodbury?" I asked Daryl.

"Yeah. Gotta make sure this asshole's dead."

"I'm coming too. Jamie told me about the pantry, why she ran. I wanna make sure he pays for nearly getting my sister killed." I told him.

"You and me both. I'll sleep better knowing he's rotting in the ground." I said as we joined the rest of the group.

Glenn and Maggie, along with the kids, Beth, Carol, and Hershel decided to stay behind while Rick, me, and Michonne loaded up in the truck to go to Woodbury. Daryl rode his brother's sacred bike.

"Rick, what happens when we find the Governor? I know at least three of us want him dead." Michonne asked Rick.

I saw Rick look at her from the rearview mirror. "We kill him."

"What the hell?" I asked, seeing abandoned vehicles in the middle of the road.

Daryl stopped his bike and Rick stopped the truck.

As I got out, I readied my knife. There were walkers around the cars, eating fresh corpses.

We went to work destroying those who had reanimated.

"What happened here?" I asked. "These are the Governor's vehicles, and those bodies just turned. You think they turned on each other and the Governor abandoned them?"

As Daryl went to say something, we heard a loud THUD!

All of us ducked in fear of something or someone wanting to kill us.

But after the shock wore off and I noticed we were all still alive, I saw it was a woman in the jeep.

She looked scared shitless.

Rick pointed a gun at her while Daryl opened the door, flashing his knife.

Slowly she came out and Daryl shut the door.

"Who are you?" Rick asked.

"K—Karen. Karen Douglas." She stuttered.

"You from Woodbury?" Michonne questioned.

She nodded. "These guys were too."

"What happened here?" I inquired.

She looked around, tearing up.

"Karen, look at me. Look at me. We're not going to hurt you. But you need to tell us what happened." I told her, putting my knife and gun away. Rick, Daryl, and Michonne did the same with their weapons.

"The—the Governor. He—he ordered us to go back, take the prison. We didn't want to though. When we told him we wanted to go back to Woodbury, he—he just shot everyone."

"How're you the only one alive?"

"Alex, my brother. He—he took a bullet for me and covered me with his dead body." She told us, starting to well up.

"Where's the Governor now?" Rick asked her.

"I don't know. He—he took off with two of his henchmen. They just left, but they weren't going to Woodbury."

"Let's go." Rick commanded.

It was way past dark when we got to Woodbury. We hid behind some car as we were getting shot at.

"Karen, yell out to the people shooting. Get them to stop." I hissed when the gunfire had paused.

She nodded and did as I told her. "Tyreese!"

"It's me!" She yelled, slowly rising up.

Quickly, Rick pulled her back down.

"Karen! Are you okay?" Some load voice called out.

"I'm fine!" She yelled, popping out from behind the car.

"Where's the Governor?" The voice asked.

"He fired on everyone. He killed them all." She explained.

There was a long pause before the voice boomed again. "Why are you with them?"

"They saved me." She admitted.

"We're coming out!" Rick yelled to the voice.

Daryl went first, followed by Rick. "We're coming out."

We all walked to the gate and two black people met us.

"What're you doing here?" The man, a big black guy, asked.

"We were coming to finish this, till we saw what the Governor did." Rick told him.

"He—he killed them?" The man asked.

"Yeah." Rick confirmed.

Then he moved on to the business of Andrea. "Karen told us Andrea hopped the wall going for the prison. She never made it. She might be here."

Honestly, I've never seen a black guy seem so shocked.

Rick led us to where the Governor held Glenn and Maggie. The place smelled old and musty.

"The Governor held people here?" The guy, we learned his name was Tyreese, asked. His eyes were about the size of golf balls, shocked by this new info.

"Did more than hold 'em." Daryl commented.

"Had two of our own here before. He was about to kill them when we found them." I added.

We turned a corner and Rick stopped, staring at a door. I got closer and saw there was blood…a lot of it, under the door.

"Will you open it?" Michonne asked Rick.

Daryl and Rick aimed their guns at the door as Rick opened it.

There was some dead guy lying near a chair, but the blood wasn't coming from him.

Then we saw her feet.

"Andrea!" Michonne exclaimed, running to her friend's side.

We all filed in after her.

"I tried to stop them." Andrea said between labored breaths.

"You're burning up." Michonne said, only worrying about her friend's well being.

"You're bit aren't you?" I asked, feeling a lump in my throat.

She looked away from me and revealed an ugly bite mark on her shoulder/neck.

She groaned in pain and I looked away, nearing tears.

"Judith, Carl, the rest of them…"

"Us. The rest of us." Rick assured her.

"Are they alive?" She asked.

"Yeah, they're alive." He told her.

Andrea then looked to Michonne. "It's good you found them."

Michonne just nodded, tears falling down her face.

Tears fell down mine too.

"Don't cry over me, Clary. I'm not worth it." Andrea said, looking at me.

I shook my head, crying harder. "Don't say that."

"No one can make it alone now." She said quietly.

"They never could." Daryl said, holding my hand.

"You take care of her." Andrea told him.

"And Clary, take care of Jamie. She needs a sister like you."

I nodded through the tears as Andrea looked to Rick.

"I just didn't want anyone to die." She said, beginning to sit up.

She then looked at Rick. "I can do it myself."

"No." Michonne said, horrified.

"I have to. While I still can."

Michonne nodded as she began crying again. Andrea almost smiled at Rick.

"Please?" she asked. "I know how the safety works."

Rick handed his gun over to her.

"Well, I'm not going anywhere." Michonne said valiantly.

Andrea took several moments to gather her thoughts before speaking again. "I tried."

"Yeah." Rick said, not looking her in the eye. "You did."

Rick and Daryl then both left the room.

"Are you staying too?" Andrea asked me.

I shook my head. "Nah, just wanted to say goodbye. She was more of friend to you than I was."

I bent down and gave Andrea a light hug on her good side. "Say hay to the others for me."

She nodded and I stepped out of the room, walking right to Daryl.

It wasn't long before we heard the gunshot. As soon as I heard it, I buried my face in Daryl's chest, hiding quiet sobs.

"Shhh It's okay." He whispered, holding me close.

A new sunrise greeted us as we drove the bus back to the prison. We'd loaded up the 50-60 some survivors and drove them to our home. Now it'd be their home too.

Once we got inside the gates of the prison I hopped out of the truck and found my little sister and hugged her close.

"You look like shit." She said, smiling.

I flashed her a tired smile. "You don't look much better."

"Who are they?" She asked, pointing to the busload of people.

"Our new neighbors. Rescued them from Woodbury."

"Are they good people, or are they like the Governor?"

"They seem decent. Once they get settled in, we'll make rounds introducing ourselves." I told her.

She nodded and took my hand, then took Daryl's. I hadn't even realized he was standing there.

"She made it right. Saved all these people." He said quietly.

I agreed. "She did."

Well guys, that's the last chapter! :'( But never fear, I will return with another installment of this series in August/September-ish since that's when Season 4 will be on DVD (PS Let's hope Daryl doesn't die! XD)

Anyways, the next story for Daryl/Clary will be called, "It's Only After We've Lost Everything That We're Free To Do Anything".

I know it will be a really long hiatus, however, I will be trying to work on my "She Loves Me Like Jesus" fanfic. So hopefully you lovely people will enjoy it while you wait for the new story :)
