Santana had a theory. It went something like: any day that Dani makes beignets and coffee for breakfast, that will be a good day. It had yet to be proven wrong, particularly that Christmas morning. They'd risen late, Dani had made breakfast, and they'd settled on the couch for presents.

About ten minutes after the last thing had been unwrapped (Dani's new set of pastels), the doorbell rang. Rachel got up to answer it, and let out a hair-splitting squeal.

"Must be Quinn," Santana said. "Get in here, Q! Dani made beignets!"

"Hell yeah!" the blonde said. She shuffled in ahead of Rachel with two boxes, one of which had holes in it. "Top one's for you, S. Rachel, Dani, I hope you don't mind sharing. I have a feeling Santana's going to kill me for just this one, so I wasn't going to push my luck by getting you each your own."

"What?" Santana asked, pausing in the middle of unwrapping her own presents. She watched as Rachel sat next to Dani and took the top off of their box.

Santana knew immediately that it was an animal of some sort, because both Rachel and Dani went into transports of delight. "The hell did you do, Quinn Fabray?"

Quinn grinned and shrugged, giving her best "who me?" face.

There was a soft noise from the box, and a tiny head popped up. A little grey and brown kitten sat meowing softly, looking around to see who all these people were.

"Death is coming for you, Lucy Quinn Fabray," Santana said.

"I don't get why you're so against us having a pet," Dani said, cuddling the kitten.

"I'm against us having a house full of pets," Santana said. "Which will probably happen now that Q has opened the floodgates. So going to kill you, Fabray."

"Wait until you open your own gift before you kill me," Quinn said, nodding to the half opened box in Santana's hands.

Santana finished unwrapping it and opened the nondescript box. Her mouth fell open. "Seriously?"

"You don't want to know all the dick I had to suck, metaphorically speaking, to get you that," Quinn said. "So you're not allowed to slay me."

Santana lifted the special extended editions of the Artemis Fowl series out of the box. Quinn's job as a film producer had never paid off this well. "I. Totally. Love. You."

"Damn straight," the blonde said, grinning. "Anyway, I'm having Christmas lunch with the boyfriend's family, so I have to get going."

"Will we ever get to meet this mysterious Prince Charming?" Rachel asked.

"I still think it's a girl, and that's why she's not telling us," Dani said, winking at Quinn.

"Keep dreaming, La Croix. He's definitely male - I've checked - and you will get to meet him at the release party in January. Got to run now - Merry Christmas!"

The kitten wandered over and put its paws up on Santana's legs. She smiled and picked it up.

"You and I are going to end up being best friends," she said begrudgingly. "I just know it."

Rachel and Dani simply grinned at each other.
