"You look sssurprisssed, Lloyd." Skales said. "However, I can't sssay I wasn't sssurprisssed to sssee you." He looked like anyone following the Overlord would, gray looking scales with purple eyes.
"Skales!" I cant believe he's the spy Kai and Nya were talking about! "How is this possible?! We fought him earlier, he's with the Overlord!"
The snake chuckled slightly. "Kai, didn't you tell him who you came here to meet?"
"I knew that Lloyd wouldn't believe me if I had told him." he replied.
"Is someone going to answer my question?" I asked.
"Yesss of courssse. You sssee a while back Kai sssaved me from the Overlord'sss power and reunited me with my family." Skales answered.
He has a family? "That doesn't explain why you look like you should still be under the Overlord's control."
"Well for some reason when a serpentine is freed they still stay the same way, as if they were under his power," Kai explained. "but I can assure you that Scales is trustworthy now."
What about never trust a snake? "Ok..."
"We got off subject. Skales, what news did you have to tell me?" Kai asked.
"As you are aware the Overlord hasss been conssstructing a weapond." Kai nodded. "Well, it isss almossst complete and he plansss to use it in five days." Skales finished.
I looked at Kai to see what his response would be, he had a shocked expression on his face. "F... five days..."
Scales nodded with a solemn look on his face. If that's possible for a snake.
"Thank you for telling me this Skales, I wish you a safe trip home." Kai replied.
"Sssame to you Kai." Skales turned to me. "Welcome back Lloyd, sssee you around."
I responded with a nod and watched him disappear into the shadow. That was... interesting.
"We should get going Lloyd," Kai said softly. "I want to be there before 10."
"Ya, the others will want to know how it went."
Kai looked out over the street before we continued the rest of the trip in silence.
