Thanks to all of you who reviewed. I'm so happy with how this story is coming along. There will be more books to come after this but I don't know when I'm going to say that this story is complete. So anyways on with Chapter 14
Leafstar's POV.
I can't believe I didn't see the evil in Cloudstar when I first met him as a rouge. His name had been Snow then and when I'd met him he told me that he didn't like his name and that he went by Cloud. I should've noticed the evil glint in his eyes when I told him about clan life and the ranks in a clan. I remembered that his eyes lit up at the subject of leaders. I had offered him a place to stay but he refused and went away.
Flashback...
"Are you sure you don't want to be part of Leafclan, we would be more than happy to have you join." I had asked.
"No thank you Leafstar, I have other plans for my way of living." Cloud leaned toward me and said "I'll see you real soon..." Only I could hear the second part and I had thought that it was nothing.
Cloud exited the clan and one of my patrols went with him to escourt him to the edge of our territory which was a solid three acres of land. We had plenty of land to feed my ever growing clan and we had taken all of the good hunting spots. I had suspected nothing of the kind from Cloud until my patrols reported his scent inside our borders, I had at first thought that he was just passing through to travel somewhere but when the scent led to an abandoned Fox Burrow I began to worry. One of my warriors went into the abandoned Fox Burrow and got into a fight he came out with scratches all over him and Cloud had padded out spitting with furry.
"Why have you attacked my warrior Snow?" I had asked.
" My name is not Snow it is Cloudstar and this tunnel is the entrance to My clan Cloudclan. If you invade our clan then we will kill those intruding!" He had yowled. I gasped
"You're in Leafclan's Territory. Get. Out. Now!" I said growling the last part in a deep growl.
"Fine, I don't have enough cats to fight you all anyways. But Mark MY words you WILL pay for this Leafstar. You will pay." Cloudstar had said and then he pelted off and we followed him to make sure he went over our scent markers. Once he was over the boarder and out of sight did my patrol and I leave and head home.
TIME SKIP...(8 MOONS)
I had been out in the forest with my kits. They were only two weeks old. I had had my kits away from the clan and I was having trouble carrying them. Eventually I dug up a tunnel and and made a nest for my kits from the driest moss I could find in the snow. While I was away hunting I had left my kits in the tunnel and put brambles over the entrence. When I had caught a large snow hare I headed back to the temporary den. When I had gotten back the brambles were torn away and I heard shrieking coming from inside. I dropped the rabbit and ran through the tunnel to the little clearing I had made to see my one and only white daughter squealing in pain as teeth clamped down on her throat. I heard a crack and my kit went limp.
My gaze was clouded over and everything turned red in my anger. I jumped at the murderer and scoured my claws down his back, stomach, and neck. I heard him choke on his own blood and die. I turned to my kits and made sure that they were all right. He was only able to kill Mistkit, my beautiful white she-kit. I turned and saw the body of a white cat start to move up and down and then I realized that Mistkit was killed by Cloudstar.
Cloudstar's eyes flickered open and filled with fear when he saw me. I growled low and menacingly Cloudstar had cowered in fear and I had given him a sharp bite and a few extra scratches on his flank but before he could leave I wrenched his shoulder out of place. He yowled in pain and got up and ran on three legs out of the den. I turned to Mistkit and took her out of the den and buried her by my favorite place, a small pyrimid of rocks with water trickling out of them. It flowed into a stream that went right to camp. The small, gentle trickling waterfall was inside of Leafclan's territory. Now I could visit her whenever I wanted, but it would never be the same.
I had picked up the rest of my kits and padded to camp. When I walked in Crowfeather ran up to me and rubbed against me purring. I didn't purr I was to sad to purr. And Crowfeather noticed my sadness.
"Leafstar what's wrong?" He had asked. I decided to tell him a lie about what happened to the other kit.
"There was another, her name was Mistkit, she was too weak to survive the cold and the snow. She died on the way here. I buried her beside Gentle Waterfall. My most favorite place here. I'm so sorry." I had said breaking down into tears.
I felt Crowfeather's tail stroke my fur on my back in a comforting way. I leaned into him and cried. I cried and cried and cried my heart out.
"I love you Leafstar." Crowfeather had said to me gently.
Through my sobs I managed to whisper out "I love you too Crowfeather." And with that Crowfeather and I carried my kits back to the nursery. I would get over my grief, eventually. But I will never tell the clan what really happened to Mistkit untill I get the chance to kill Cloudstar all the way. Then I will tell the clan what really happened.
