Bella stared at her father with wide eyes. Her mind was racing with questions and no answers.

How did he get in here? How did he find out where she lived? And lastly, why the hell was he here in the first place?

"What are you doing here?" Bella asked, raising her voice. "What, calling me a slut in front of the family wasn't enough so you had to come do it here? Do I need to get Paul over here so that you can scold him at how bad of a father he's going to be? I mean, you can always give him some wonderful pointers."

Charlie didn't look into his daughter's eyes. "Mary found something she thought you'd like. She had me bring them to you because I have a meeting around here anyway."

Bella narrowed her eyes. "Is it an actual business meeting? Or is it a hook up?"

Before Charlie could answer, Angela walked into the kitchen. "Hey Bella, Embry said he can take us into town to get something for the-" Angela stopped talking as she made eye contact with her step father. Angela glanced at Bella. "Do you need me to get the broom?"

Bella half-smiled at her step sister. "No. Why don't you get ready? I'm going to take care of this." Angela nodded and left the kitchen, glaring at Charlie as she left.

"Okay, so we both know you didn't come here because Mary asked you to. So exactly what are you doing here, Charlie?" Bella forced his name out of her mouth.

Charlie sadly smiled. "Charlie, huh? I guess I deserve that. I wasn't much of a father to you."

Bella scoffed. "More like not at all."

Charlie pleadingly stared at his daughter. It was then when she really got to stare into his eyes and he looked so tired and devastated.

"Bella, I know you're mad at me, but you need to understand that I'm truly sorry for what I did to you. I should have been there for you. I know that sorry's not going to fix a thing." He said, running his hands over his face.

"Mad isn't the word I would use. I would have chosen hurt, unwanted, unloved, neglected. There's a whole list but I don't see how telling you make a difference." Bella retaliated. "You know what? You're right, sorry isn't going to make a difference. I think it would be beneficial if you leave."

Embry burst through the back door. "Hey Bells, I heard. Do you need me to take care of him?"

Bella shook her head. "No, I'm done here."

Bella left her father in the kitchen and went to her bedroom to get ready. As soon as she was ready, she went into the guest room where she had Angela situated and caught her kissing Embry.

"Yeah, I don't think this is making me feel any better." Bella stated, cringing away from the kissing couple.

Angela and Embry broke their kiss and apologetically stared at Bella.

"Sorry, gummy bear. I needed to get some sugar today." He winked.

Bella rolled her eyes. "Yeah, yeah, come on. Let's get this show on the road."

Bella walked down to the front door and towards the car. With her sour mood, she could kill someone.

Embry had driven them to see Jared and Kim's new baby. By the time they arrived, Bella was in a better mood. She walked into the room and saw Paul sitting in the chair, holding the new baby. Bella slowly smiled at the sight, imagining him sitting and holding the twins.

Paul looked up and grinned at her. "Hey, baby, come here and meet Terrie."

Paul moved over, making room for Bella to sit down next to him on a couch propped in Jared and Kim's bedroom. Once Bella was seated, he handed her Terrie. Bella held her arms out in a cradle, realizing this was the first time she has ever held a newborn. Bella beamed down at Terrie. She was so small, fragile and adorable.

"Bet you can't wait to hold your own, huh?" Jared half-smiled, sitting on the bed next to Kim.

Bella looked up. "Yeah, just a couple months left and they'll be here." Bella sighed happily. Terrie was asleep and she looked so peaceful. Bella wondered if this was how her twins were going to act.

Suddenly, Bella was pulled out of her thoughts when Paul's cellphone went off extremely loud. She turned her head and noticed that it was a text message from someone named Ellie. Paul grabbed it out of her sight and shoved it into his pocket.

A few minutes later, they got ready to leave. Bella and Paul stood in the hallway. Bella was still wondering who Ellie was, he never mentioned her before.

"Hey Paul?" Bella nudged him.

"Mmm?" He hummed.

"Who's Ellie?" Bella asked.

He shrugged. "No one important. She was a hook up a long time ago and she can't take a hint."

Trusting Paul's answer, she nodded, but she also felt that there was more to this Ellie girl.

"By the way, I have to go into town and get some stuff." Bella notified him.

Paul nodded. "Okay, I gotta talk to Sam about some things, too. See you back home?"

Bella smiled and kissed his cheek. "Yeah."

Bella picked up Angela and then started her drive into town. She drove into Forks, parked the car next to a sidewalk and they got out. For a while, all they did was walk around and window shop. There really wasn't much to see besides shrubs and trees in the little town of Forks. Finally, they walked into a restaurant and sat down at a table. Immediately, Angela and Bella noticed a blonde girl and a red-head girl staring at them intently from across the restaurant.

"So, are you okay, Bella?" Angela asked.

Bella nodded. "Yeah. I will be once I change the locks on the house."

"No, I'm talking about dad. I didn't think he would come all the way here and tell you himself." Angela said with a little frown.

"What are you talking about?" Bella asked, taking a sip of her water.

"About Charlie having lung cancer." Angela stated, looking at her incredulously, wondering how Bella was fazed by this horrible news.

Bella blinked.

"Bella...?" Angela's voice trailed off.

"He has...what...I-I didn't...?"

Angela's stiff expression relaxed as she settled into realization.

"I'm guessing he didn't tell you." Angela pursed her lips, looking away. "He was diagnosed about two weeks ago. Mom told me only a week ago. She told me not to tell you because apparently he wanted to tell you himself. The doctor said they caught it at an early stage, but still."

Then it hit her like a train. He was practically nervous, out of character and shy when he was trying to talk to her that morning and all she was was mean. Instantly, she felt guilty for not letting him speak up for himself. That didn't make her any better of a person than he is towards her.

"I was a bitch to him this morning." Bella said, feeling a lump grow in her throat.

"You couldn't have known what he was going to say, Bella. And after what he said at the dinner? I don't blame you."

"I know. But I should have listened anyway. I was trying to stand up for myself." Bella murmured in a small voice, covering her face with her hands.

"Call him when we get home, he has a meeting here today, right? He couldn't have left so soon already." Angela said, making Bella feel a little bit better.

When the food arrived, Angela and Bella noticed that the two girls were still staring at them.

"Do you think they are talking about us?" Bella asked, a little concerned.

"Well, they are looking at us, so I'd say yes." Angela nodded.

"But how do they know us?" Bella queried, confused.

"I don't know, but you better eat your french fries otherwise I will." Angela said with a smile.

After finishing the food, both Angela and Bella got up, paid the bill and left.

"...maybe we could buy some stuff animals or somethi-"

"Hey, you!" Someone shouted from behind them, completely cutting Angela off. They turned around to see the blonde girl and the red-head walking towards them.

"Do I-" Bella began, but couldn't finish because someone slapped her face. Bella put a hand to her face.

"Are you fucking insane?! She's pregnant!" Angela shouted at the blonde girl.

"She shouldn't have taken what's not hers!" The blonde rebelled.

"Yeah, Paul belongs to Ellie." The red-hair said, second-demoting her blonde friend.

"What?" Bella asked, a tear stinging her eye.

"Ellie and Paul were together before you made him knock you up." The red-head explained, her unnaturally thin eyebrows perking upwards. Bella's eyes widened as she realized who Ellie was.

"You smacked a pregnant woman just because you're upset over the fact that Paul is now over you? Get over yourself!" Angela shrieked, grasping Bella's arm.

"He was mine and you took him away from me!" Ellie wailed, her face turning red.

"Paul never had a girlfriend and never wanted one!" Bella said, fed up.

"Yeah? Exactly what are you to him, then?" Ellie challenged, her eyes burning with fury.

"What does it look like?" Bella asked, pointing to her ever-growing stomach.

"A slut? Paul will dump you in no time. You just wait." She yelled and raised her hand.

"I swear to god if you hit her again, you'll be six feet under. Now, get your fake ass out of here, you clueless bimbo!" Angela scolded Ellie, before she huffed and walked away.

"Come here." Angela cooed, tilting Bella's face. She gently grabbed Bella's protective hand from her face to reveal a bright red, which was now turning purple, mark on her eye, which was also covering half over her cheek. "Looks like you're going to have a black eye. Let's go back home and put some ice on it."

Angela walked Bella back to the car and drove home. Bella told Angela about the text messages that Paul had been receiving from Ellie that day. It was silent for the rest of the ride, and Angela was furious.

Angela pulled up into the driveway and helped Bella out of the car. Bella felt her eye throbbing and it was hard to blink and see through her left eye. As soon as Bella walked through the doors, Paul and Embry were staring up at them.

"Holy fuck, what happened to you?" Paul asked, running to Bella to cradle her bruised face.

"Why don't you ask your old fuck buddy?" Angela shouted, enraged.

"Angela, please." Bella pleaded, but that won't stop Angela from lashing out on Paul. Angela had no boundaries when it came to protecting her little sister.

"Who?" Paul asked, frowning.

"Does Ellie ring a bell?" Angela queried, staring up at him.

Paul looked at Bella, concerned and guilty. "She did this to you?"

"Crazy Ellie?" Jared asked, helping Bella sit down while Paul stood in front of Angela. Ben ran from the kitchen with an eye pack and tossed it to Jared, who handed it to Bella.

"Your little hook up slapped my sister. My pregnant sister!" Angela growled. Embry stepped towards Angela and wrapped an arm around her waist, steering her into the direction of the armchair. Angela sat down, shaking her head. Paul pulled Bella up and guided her to their bedroom. As soon as she was settled, he sat next to her, holding her hand while she curled up next to him.

"I'm so sorry, baby." He said, rubbing soothing circles on the back of her hand.

"Why didn't you tell me about her? Why did you feel the need to her hide from me? Am I not a priority here?" Bella asked, her voice on the borderline of cracking. Finding out that he father was diagnosed with lung cancer was one thing, but finding out that your baby's father was hiding a past relationship from you? What was she supposed to think?

"It wasn't any of your concern." Paul honestly answered.

"Tell that to my eye, you dumbass." Bella cursed, rolling over so that her back faced him.

"I thought that's what was best. I never answer her texts, Bells. You can check my phone. I ended it before I met you." He explained. "I'm getting the feeling that this isn't about Ellie. Is something wrong?"

Bella turned her head and looked at Paul. Of course he knew something was wrong. But Bella didn't want to talk about anything other than Ellie right now.

"How do I know you really ended it with her? Huh? Why did you have to keep her a secret from me? I thought we were in this together, Paul! Look what one of your little 'secrets' has done!" Bella shouted, facing Paul. He winced. "How many more secrets do you have? I'm dealing with some much already and I don't need physical pain added onto all of this!"

Paul's face went from guilt, to hurt, to anger all at once. Staring at Bella in disbelief, he shook his head.

"You're supposed to trust me, Bella." Paul stated.

"I have, Paul. And look where it got me." Bella spat through clenched teeth, desperately trying to force the tears back.

Paul stared at her, face full with guilt and walked out of the bedroom. Bella burst into tears. She knew he could hear her, but no matter how quiet she tried to make her sobs, they were always audible. Sometimes she wished she could have a moment to herself, where she could just cry because life isn't fair.

She knew that Paul did break up with Ellie. If he says he did, he did. She knew that Paul loved her, but she needed to release her self-hatred out and just lash out on someone other than herself. And the nearest person to do that to was Paul. And it was wrong for her to do that.

A few hours later, Bella knew that she needed to do this. She wasn't ready to face it, but she needed to go through with it.

A moment later, the door swung open.

"Bella?" A gruff voice asked.

"Hey, dad."
