Hiii! How is everyone doing? Happy thanksgiving! We don't celebrate that in Holland. But I hope anyone who does has a amazing evening! :)
Let me know what you think of this chapter, I don't really like it that much. I hope more fluff will come out in the next chapter. I want to let the family do some more fun things together. I don't know what yet. If you want to see anything leave a review! I might use it, you never know ;)
"My ass is hurting." Emma started to complain.
"Emma language." Snow scolded.
"Pfft! You all have saddles. Ass protectors. I am serious, my ass is going to bruise."
"Emma I am serious too, language." Snow repeated.
"Are we there yet?" Emma tried to re-sit.
David chuckled. "If you keep wiggling you'll fall off."
Emma sighed loudly.
Snow sighed at her daughter.
"Mom, you're annoying Grams."
Emma looked at her mother. "Sorry." She turned back. "Not sorry." She mumbled under her breath re-sitting again.
"Emma sit still." David said.
"My butt is really hurting." Emma replied.
"We are almost there."
"I can't wait that long." Emma said, trying to not sound like if she was whining. But her bottom was really, really hurting.
"Emma, stop, it's only a minute or 5 away." Snow said stretching her legs out.
"My butt will be bleeding in a minute or 5."
Emma threw her leg over Sam's neck and slit down. David tried to grab her before she fell but she slipped out of his grip. "Emma!" He cried.
"EMMA!" Snow cried too. She stopped Aspen.
Emma landed on her feet falling forward on her hands. She stood up and wiped her hands on her pants.
Snow got off Aspen and ran towards her. "Emma, are you okay? God, never do that again." She scolded. She kneeled in front of her.
"I'm fine." Emma pushed hands away.
"Never. Do that again! You almost gave me a heart attack!"
"I am fine, well, not counting my butt."
"You really couldn't wait! It was just over there," Snow pointed at the opening in the trees, were an open field lay. "A few minutes away."
"No. I couldn't wait."
Snow sighed. "Well, if you want to walk. Walk." Snow was done now. She got to Aspen and mounted her again.
David grinned at Snow. "Stop grinning."
"She was okay?"
"Other than being really annoying and stubborn, yes."
"Just leave her."
"David! She just let herself fall of a 5 foot horse!"
"Snow, she had a hard day, she already let us come really close, she let us have a family day. That is a lot for Emma." He said. "And her butt hurts." Henry laughed at that. "Just let her walk alone for a moment."
Snow nodded. "You are right, but she really didn't need to let herself fall of Sam. She scared me to death."
"Comes with being a parent." David smiled.
"Well I hope she never does that again."
"With the way you reacted I doubt she will."
Emma stared at the three in front of her. Getting smaller with the step, they were a lot further. She didn't care though. She liked the moment alone. And walking was a lot better for her ass.
She looked down at her hands. They were a bit scraped open. She sighed.
She wanted to be big again. Then she would walk faster at least. She picked up a rock and threw it away. It landed a few feet away from her. She kicked the rock when she met it again.
Snow looked back. "Maybe we should wait up a bit, she is very far back."
"She is fine." David said turning back to Henry and their conversation.
Snow looked back again. Seeing Emma throw a rock away. It hurt, seeing her walk alone. She knew it was stupid. But all she could think about was, this is what Emma looked like, exactly when she four. Alone. Left by her again. Alone, while she should be here, with her.
"I think I am going to wait for her."
"Snow, she needs time alone to think."
"No, I won't leave her alone again." Snow argued back.
David suddenly understood what Snow was thinking about. "Sweetheart… Don't… She is with us, she isn't alone anymore."
"I know." Snow whispered. "But I'm going to wait."
David nodded and spurred Sam on and went with Henry to the open field.
Emma saw that her mother had stopped.
Snow got of Aspen again.
"You shouldn't have waited for me." Emma said when she walked up to her mother.
"I wanted too."
"I am sorry."
"Why?" Snow asked, walking next to Emma.
"I acted stupid. It is just. My ass… Butt hurt, and it was just a bit…" Emma tried to formulate her sentence nice.
"Too much?" Snow suggested.
"Yeah, don't get me wrong, I love family time."
"It just gets overwhelming."
Emma nodded. "How do you know?"
"I get it, I had the same with David."
"What?"
"David and I loved each other for a long time, but it took a while to be finally together. And when we finally were, we got married right away. I needed some alone time in the beginning too. Our love was overwhelming me."
Emma stared at her mother. "I never guessed."
"I was alone for a long time too Emma, well, I had Red. But most of the time in the forest I was alone."
"How did you learn to be with someone almost 24 hours a day."
"I didn't have to learn. I just.. I don't even know. I love him, it came easy."
"I'm not used to it."
"I know, we'll help you through it, we'll help you learn to be in a family."
They walked up to the open field.
Emma sighed and stopped walking. Snow stopped too, looking at her.
"Let's don't ruin this family day, let's have some fun." Emma said. "Thanks Mom."
Snow smiled and bent down to kiss Emma head. "You are welcome, Honey." Snow saw Emma's hands. "Sweetie, you should've said you scraped your hands."
"I didn't see it until a minute ago."
Snow squinted her eyes at Emma. "And you didn't feel it?"
Emma shrugged it off.
They walked over to David and Henry. They got to Aspen and took all the things of the horse for the picnic. David took Aspen's saddle of and tied her with Sam and Kit, enjoying all the grass surrounding them and started eating.
They got all the stuff for the picnic out and Emma sat down on the picnic blanket.
Snow grabbed a bottle of water. "Give me your hands." She asked Emma as she sat down next to Emma.
Emma reluctantly gave her hands to Snow, she gently took them in her hands and dripped water onto the scraped places.
Emma winced. "I'm okay now." She tried to pull back her hands.
Snow shook her head. "I can see sand still." She softly brushed Emma's hand.
"MOM! Come play soccer with Gramps and me!"
Emma smiled. "Saved." She stood up. "I'm coming!"
"Emma, wait." Snow grabbed Emma's arm. She kissed both her scraped hands. "Have fun."
Emma nodded and ran off to Henry.
Henry and Emma teamed up against David, but he eventually won anyway.
"Mom! Have you ever even kicked a soccer ball?"
"Of course! But that was like 18 years ago."
"Let's practice, first of, kick with the inside of your foot, not with your toes…" Henry started giving Emma some soccer practice.
David walked back to his wife, who had set out the picnic neatly. His sat down and pressed a kiss to her lips.
"That seemed fun." Snow smiled.
"Yeah, Emma sucks at soccer though. Poor Henry." He laughed softly.
"Hey. Don't say that about our daughter. I think she is trying her best."
David placed an arm around Snow so she could lean against him.
"Sure she is." He chuckled.
They looked over at the pair. Henry trying his best to show her. But she just looked at him annoyed. "I can't do it, anyways!" Emma complained.
"Sure you can! Just try it!"
"I don't want too!"
"Mom, you are acting like a four-year old."
Emma huffed. "Not funny."
"I thought it was pretty funny." Henry grinned.
"Let's go, I'm hungry."
Henry nodded. "But if you don't try you'll never learn."
"I don't want to learn, I want to eat."
Henry grinned mischievously.
"What are you up to?" Emma eyed him.
Henry suddenly grabbed and threw her over his shoulder.
"HENRY! PUT ME DOWN!"
"Oh no, the princess wants to eat, I personally will bring the princess to the food." Henry walked over to Snow and David.
Emma pouted. "Don't call me princess."
"I'll stop calling you princess AND I will put you down, if you let me teach you how to kick a soccer ball properly after lunch."
Emma sighed.
"Well?" He asked.
"Fine." Emma agreed. "Will you put me down now, please?"
Henry sat her down on the blanket next to Snow and let himself drop down too. "What do we have, because I'm hungry too."
"I made some sandwiches, look for yourself."
Henry opened the basket and placed the basket in the middle of them for all to take a sandwich.
Emma grabbed a PJ sandwich, taking a big bite out of it. Getting peanut butter and jelly all around her face.
David laughed softly.
"What?" Emma asked.
"You've got something here." He pointed at his mouth.
"Oh, thanks." She wiped her mouth.
"There is still some.." David reached over the basket to wipe, but wiped it all over her cheeks.
"Oh, oops." He grinned.
"Hey!" Emma ducked out of his reach.
Snow grabbed a napkin and quickly put it against her tongue before reaching out to clean Emma's face, who ducked away again.
"Woah! No drooling over me, woman!"
"Emma, stop it, come here." Snow had to chuckle a bit.
"No! Ew!" Emma stood up and dropped down behind Henry. "Safe me from them. Be my knight?" She asked knowing how badly he wanted to be a knight.
He laughed. "Of course I'll be your knight!" He sat up straight, making his shoulders broad.
David snatched away Snow's napkin trying to get to Emma while Henry kept him away.
"Ew!" Henry ducked away to when David came to close. He pushed his mom away.
"That is her saliva! Don't touch me." Henry shoved himself back, sitting next to Emma.
Snow raised her eyebrow. "Stop judging my saliva. Emma come here and let me clean your face."
Emma crawled back and let her mother clean her with a new napkin with water from a bottle.
"Keep the napkin, I think you'll need it again." Emma giggled, eyeing Henry's mouth.
