Chapter 14

PIPER

"Piper gim'me a Coke won't you?" Percy asked

I passed him a Coke from the cooler behind me. Percy, Annabeth, Jason and I were at the beach having a picnic. Percy decided to share the cake he got as a peace offering for what he did to Jason.

"Hey Jason why didn't Reyna come with us?" I asked him out of the blue

"She's meeting a few of her friends with Gwen" he said

"Oh why didn't you come with?" I asked

"She said it's an all-girls hangout" he shrugged

I just nod. I just noticed that they didn't spend that much alone time anymore. He didn't seem to mind though. And when Reyna surprisingly came back he didn't seem that much happy.

They are not having fights. They just seem to grow apart slowly. Sure they still hang-out but they didn't seem that much couple-y anymore. Reyna is trying to get back like they were before. Like when the first time they just got together. But Jason isn't trying. What happened?

After about an hour we finish eating. We clean back our stuff and we decided to go back home. But Jason grabbed my hand and said:

"Uh you go ahead guys. We'll just come back later" Jason said

They looked at him confusedly but they nodded. Jason and I headed to the other direction.

"Where are we going?" I asked

"I saw a park on the way here" he said

"And we're going there?" I require

"Noooo of course not. We're just gonna stay here that's why we're going there" he said sarcastically

I rolled my eyes. At least he did loosen up. He didn't seem that uptight anymore. He smiles and jokes around more often. Though his jokes are so freakily corny and worth rolling your eyes on, it's nice for a change.

"Why are we going there?" I asked

"I don't know. To hang out with you" he said

"But we always hang out" I reasoned

"Yeah and I decided that this is one of the times" he said

"The person you should hang out with more is Reyna" I said

I hated bringing her up but I don't want to be the reason they broke up. Although they don't hang out as much already, I still feel jealous and wistful when I see them together.

I don't want to be the reason to be more apart. It hurts that I said that he should be with Reyna but I have to. I think one of the reasons they don't spend time with each other is because Jason and I practice for the dance. And I feel guilty that he's with me when he could be with his girlfriend.

"W-what do you mean?" he asked

"She should be the one you're bringing here" I said

"I mean you guys should catch up! She's gone for a week for crying out loud! She missed you a lot and I'm sure you did too. You missed her lots right?" I asked

"Yeah" he agreed but he doesn't seem sure about it.

"Now let's go to the park you speak of" I said

We walked there together and the park is beautiful. There must be something going on because the park is decorated with lights. And it's huge! It'll be cool to play hide and seek here. So many places to hide in.

"It's awesome" I gushed

"I know. Wonder why they have all these lights and stuff" he said

"I don't know but it is beautiful" I said

We walked around the park just looking at everything. This moment sounds freakishly cliché. I shouldn't be here. It should be Reyna and Jason for this moment to be cliché.

"Piper!" a voice calls me

I turned around and saw Mellie, dad's new assistant. She's interning to him for her college. Jane got fired; thank goodness and now Mellie's here. She looks young and she's really fun. Not like cold, stuck-up and irritating Jane. She's friendly and talks to me. Dad made a good choice for hiring her

"Mellie!" I said, walking up to me and giving me a hug

"Hey Piper" she greets

"So why are you here?" I asked

"I'm sorry to interrupt your romantic walk with your boyfriend but your father asked me to take you shopping today because you and he would meet his friends tomorrow" she said

I blushed at her misconception that we're together. But I wish it's true. I smiled sadly and shook my head

"No we aren't together and I'm sorry but I can't come with you Mellie. I hate shopping. Please do that for me? You can just ask Lacy, my cousin to come with you" I said

"No he said you" she said stubbornly "Come with me like it or not"

I know I'm gonna get her to say yes. But I don't know why but suddenly I'm in the mood to suddenly run around.

"You'd have to catch us first to say yes" I smirked. I grabbed Jason's hand and ran.

About a while Jason stopped running and I stopped to catch my breath.

"Hey what about Mellie?" he asked

"Oh she'll catch us soon" I wave off

"But why do we have to hide from her? We could just talk to her and-"

"Just shut up and take my hand" I interrupted

So we ran around the park laughing like maniacs. Good thing the park is huge, if not Mellie would've found us already. I looked back and saw that she was behind us.

I made a right turn and a left. I saw Mellie following behind us, not close but not far either. I looked around and saw a cleaning cabinet. I wondered why they put it here but I was legit thankful for it.

I grabbed Jason's hand and went to the cleaning cabinet.

It was small. But it was taller than us. Our noses keep touching and we're panting and we're laughing. I feel my cheeks heat up at our proximity. Good thing he didn't seem to notice it.

I hear Mellie calling my name and I put a finger to my lips to signal Jason to be quiet.

"Piper? Piper's boyfriend? Piper?" I hear Mellie call. I blushed when Mellie said "Piper's boyfriend" Seriously Mellie?

After about 5 minutes it's gone. We got out of the cabinet and I saw Mellie not far away looking around frantically

"MELLIE!" I call then started running again.

We made it back to where we came from and waited for Mellie to come. I realized I was still holding Jason's hand. I blushed and let go. Finally Mellie found us and she was panting.

"You made me very tired and sweaty" Mellie said

"Sorry not sorry" I said with a grin

"I would've been mad with you. But you seemed like you had fun with your boyfriend. So I just decided that I'm just going to do the shopping for you" she said

I tackle her with a hug, practically crushing her

"Thank you so much Mellie!" I said

"Okay well I gotta run" she said as I pulled away from the hug.

"Bye!" I greet as she walked away.

JASON

Piper and I ended up taking watermelon milkshakes and walking around the park again.

A song Thalia made me listen to is playing on my mind right now. I find the beat quite catchy

I don't wanna say good night

The city comes alive, when we're together

Why can't this day last forever?

Yeah I really wish this day will last forever. As cliché as it sounds.
