Part 14: An Exception to the Rule

"I thought bachelor parties were supposed to be the night before the wedding."

"They are," Jason stated.

"We're having yours a day early," Dick said.

"And it's going to be a surprise," Jason added. "Dad said yes, just this once and only if you have a day to rest up."

"Now, I'm really curious."

"You know Damian's going to get jealous for not including him," Dick pointed out.

"He's too young for what we're going to do," Jason stated.

"So is Timmy and you," Dick pointed out.

"That never stopped me," Jason said. "Besides. Dad agreed to it just this once. It's tradition. And the fact that Timmy will be considered a married man."

"We didn't do it with you," Dick pointed out.

"Only because Sasha and I got married secretly and you wouldn't have approved."

"I still don't," Dick argued. "I can't believe you got Dad to agree to it."

"You only live once, and Timbo is getting married."

"Um, guys, I'm standing right here," Tim said.

"I still can't believe you pulled it off."

"I just told Dad we'd be in a safe place and we would bring in the entertainment and the drinks."

"What safe place?" Tim questioned.

"Your apartment," Jason said. "It's all set for tonight."

"My apartment, what did you set up?"

"Don't worry little bro," Jason patted Tim's cheek. "You're going to love it."

Tim wasn't quite sure. The last time Jason set things up, they got in trouble with Alfred. This was his private space. What kind of entertainment was Jason going to bring into his apartment? What if they found out about the nest? He heard about bachelor parties from a friend at school. They could be wild. What were they getting themselves into?

A couple hours later, Tim found out. It wasn't as bad as he thought it would be. Jason had rented some movies, ordered some pizza, and brought in some beer. That didn't seem so bad, until Jason started pushing him to drink that beer, then another came his way, and another.

Dick started arguing with Jason that one beer was enough, and that both of them shouldn't even be drinking.

"Aw come on Golden Boy. Tim's getting married. He's going to be considered a man."

"He's not, you've given him three. You're trying to get him drunk."

"It's traditional."

Tim wasn't feeling so hot. The combination of the beer and pizza was leaving an awful taste in his mouth, not to mention his stomach was feeling very unsettled. The room couldn't stop spinning. Tim ran into the nearest bathroom and threw up.

"Looks like little brother has had enough," Jason said as he swallowed down his fourth.

"You deliberately wanted to get him drunk."

"There's a first time for everything," Jason said with a grin on his face.

"You've had enough as well," Dick said, shaking his head. "At least both of you will have a day to recover. That wasn't very smart Jason."

"Dad approved it."

"I don't believe you. I think you worked it so he would approve a little party for Tim, but you failed to mention there would be alcohol at this party. You know I'm a former cop. I could arrest you."

"But you won't because you contributed, too." Jason pointed out.

"That was downright sneaky," Dick said. "Not to mention the beer cans don't even look like beer cans. How the hell did you get it? I should have known."

Tim came out of the bathroom.

"How are you feeling, Timoti," Dick asked his little brother.

"Like I'll never get this awful taste out of my mouth."

"I'll make you some coffee," Dick said. "Do you have any aspirin or ant-acids?"

"Check in the bathroom in the first bedroom," Tim stated. "I don't sleep here very often, but Alfred makes sure the place is supplied."

Dick did as Tim suggested and brought both the aspirin and the ant-acids.

"I hope no one else gets wind of this little party of ours," Tim stated. "You know how the paparazzi are."

Well, I hate to say it, it's a bit late for that," Jason commented, his words were a little slurred.

'How?" Tim questioned. "We're going to be in so much trouble."

"You mean this, party? No, no, but everyone notices when the Waynes do something like buy a marriage license for a minor."

"Hey, you're two years older than me."

"I'm not considered a minor," Jason pointed out.

"Tim is, and someone leaked it to the press."

"Yup."

"Oh great!"

"Don't worry, Timmy. We have a list of guests. No one will be crashing your wedding."
