Chapter 14: The Nature Civil War
(1 Year into the War)
Jamie walked through the Hall of North's workshop a cup of cocoa in his hand, he looked out of the window, the weather had been acting odd lately, like the spirits who watched over it were no longer watching the weather, but he knew that couldn't be, The Court of Nature was one of the most dutiful of them all, never leaving their duties.
Jamie put this thought aside, and then started to think of Jack, the last time he'd seen the Guardian was a year ago, when he banished the Trickster from his own dreams. Jack hadn't come back to see him, Jamie often wondered why he didn't come back, maybe his Winter ruling duties kept him busy, maybe he was hiding, Jamie had many times thought about flying to the Winter Palace and demanding to see him.
But he knew no good would come from it. Jamie sighed and sat down, looking at the globe, over a thousand new lights had appeared that year, Manny telling him that was a record. He sighed again,
"What's wrong Jamie?" His Mother appeared from no-where, looking at him,
"I'm just missing Jack" Jamie told her, placing his head against the chair,
"You care a great deal for him, don't you?" Joyce asked,
Jamie blushed furiously and then looked to his Mother, nodding slightly,
"I'm glad you've found someone who can make you happy Jamie" Joyce smiled, "True is, I've always known, ever since I first saw you with Jack…. He's a good Boy… and good for you"
"I'm starting to worry though, I mean he hasn't visited in a year, why is he staying away?" Jamie asked,
"I don't know Jamie, but I'm going to find out!" Joyce told him, walking away,
"North?" She asked a minute later as she walked into his Office,
"Joyce, How are you?" North boomed,
"I'm not good North, my son's heart is aching, and I need to find out why…. Take me to the Winter Palace" Joyce told him,
"The Winter Palace?" North asked, "Dis is a big request…."
"Nothing is too big for my Son!" Joyce told him,
"Ah, very well, only this vunce I vill take you to the Winter Palace" North told her, "To the Sleigh!"
(An Hour Later: The Winter Palace)
The Sleigh landed down and Joyce hopped out, smiling as Sandy and North followed suit, shortly after take-off, they'd realised that Sandy had been using the Sleigh as a place of rest, and that they'd disturbed him.
The three of them walked towards the imposing palace, when they sensed it, they were being watched.
"We should not have come here, the Beings of Winter are very protective of their Rulers Palace" North told them,
"I do not fear them" Joyce smiled,
'Its not them you need to fear, it's the Wrath of Winter….' Sandy told her,
Joyce was about to ask what the Wrath of Winter was, until they came face-to-face with a large guardian, it stood 10ft tall and seemed to be made entirely of ice,
"WHO DARES ENTER THE REALM OF THE WINTER KING? BE YOU FRIEND OF THE KING, OR FOE?" The Guardian boomed,
"I am Nicholas St. North, Fellow Guardian of your Winter king, we seek to speak with him on a matter most urgent" North told the Guardian,
"NICHOLAS ST. NORTH, TURN BACK, THE WINTER KING IS NOT PRESENT AT THE TIME, CALL BACK ANOTHER YEAR" the Guardian told him, a thousand smaller soldiers appearing at its feet,
"It is pointless staying here, Tell Jack to visit when he has time!" North called to the Guardian, which seemed to nod,
"I SHALL INFORM HIM YOU CAME BY FOR HIM, BUT HE HAS A MANY TIES THAT KEEP HIM INCREADIBLY BUSY" the Guardian told them.
With that they walked back to the sleigh, Unaware, Jack was watching the whole time.
(3 Years Into the War)
Jack flicked his swords around, managing to block all the attacks, he jumped and using his Shock powers, slammed a hand onto the ground, blasting the soldiers, them crumbing to dust, Jack stood up, flicking his blades around, looking for a fresh target, he frowned as he saw Wynter, he ran forward, sending lightning to stop Wynter from fleeing,
"This ends now Wynter!" Jack told him, venom in his voice,
"You have but 1/10 of the Winter Spirits rallied behind you, what hope do you have?" Wynter smiled raising his sword,
"I fight for the throne of Nature and all the lives you threaten, that is the hope I have!" Jack roared, jumping forward, feeling searing pain on one of his cheek's
(7 Years into the War)
Manny, Sandy, Pitch, Galactica and Father Time sat around a table looking at one another,
"Where is Natura, we have not seen her in many years, yet she does not come to this meeting when we ask her to come!" Father Time boomed,
"Calm Tick" Galactica told him, "Natura will have a very good reason for not attending this meeting"
"The reason I summoned you is most grave indeed, I have noticed over the last few years, the army of Nature is once more moving, I believe that Natura plans to resume the war we once waged" Manny told them,
"Natura is not that much of a fool, the four Rulers would never stand by her if she did" Pitch told them, "That would put us against them and they know our strength outmatches theirs"
"Even so, prepare you armies, It would not do well for us to be taken by surprise…." Manny told them, unaware Baby Tooth was now flying to inform North, Jamie and Tooth what had happened in the meeting.
(9 Years into the War)
Jamie smiled as he walked throught the meadow, it was a peaceful day, he'd visited the secret cove of the Flower Fairies, signed peace between them and the Tooth Fairies and was now looking forward to a peaceful relax in a hot tub.
He smiled as a gust of wind blew around him, he felt something behind him, he turned to see a spirit he'd never seen before, he was tall with long white hair and Yellow eyes, he wore a suit of chainmail around and carries a sword in his hand,
"Spirit, Identify yourself!" Jamie called, knowing that Manny had made a commandment that Jamie was to take a throne as Ruler of the Spirit world,
"I do not answer to you Boy!" The Spirit told him, "I come with a message from Jack Frost"
Something in Jamie's heart fluttered at Jack's name, "What is the message?"
"DIE!" The spirit roared, sending a wave of frost at Jamie, so cold it burnt, he avoided most of it, but the burns covered his arms,
Jamie drew out a sword and looked around, seeing the spirit awaiting him he rushed forward, flicking his blade around, he was tapped on the leg as his attack was avoided,
"Is this the great swordsmanship Manny has taught you, he must really want you to die!" The Spirit told Jamie, who scowled, before another ice attack was sent at him, burning his chest. Making him collapse,
"Now tell that windbag Manny, if it's a war he want, the True Ruler of Winter will fight him as he so wishes, and Tell him this Message came from Wynter!" Wynter told him, flying away.
Jamie took a minute before climbing up, his wounds were aching. He walked a little way before falling onto the North Wind, which whisked him away.
(The Next Day)
Jamie and the entire balance (Minus The Court of Nature) were gathered, waiting for Natura to appear, they all knew what had happened between Jamie and Wynter. They knew this could end in war if Natura had been behind the attack, everyone had brought their weapons, just encase it led to violence.
They looked around, noticing the doors still closed, knowing that they'd been waiting for a couple of hours for her, then the doors opened, and Jamie gasped,
Gone was the elegant women who dressed in a long flowing outfit, he hair tied in a bow atop her, head, now she wore a suit of armour, her hair flowing behind her back a sword at her hip,
"Why have I been summoned like some mongrel dog?" Natura asked taking her seat,
"Where are the Rulers, as I recall you have four spirits who rule over the seasons?" Pitch asked,
"They are attending to matters most Grave, I would not pull them away from it lightly" Natura told them, "But you have not answered my question, why was I summoned her like a criminal?"
"Because one of your spirits has attacked out leader!" Cupid roared, "Or are you going to claim that you knew nothing of Wynter's action?"
"Wynter?" Natura asked, "I no longer class him as one of my spirits!"
"Since when, the Sheppard's have always been one of the most loyal spirits in the world" Manny asked,
"about nine Years ago" Natura told him,
"Yet we have seen no evidence of you abandoning him!" Pitch scowled, feeling slightly odd of being protective of Jamie.
"What would prove this to you?" Natura asked, "Proof that Nature is being split? That we are at war against them?"
"Let Frost speak for himself, summon him or we class him, you and all the Rulers as traitors and order your immediate banishment to the Realm of Grim!" Manny told her,
"Very well!" Natura scowled, she stood up and clapped her hands three times, in an instant four miniature tornado's appeared over their heads, Each spirit shielded their eyes, until it stopped, four spirits now stood where the Tornado's were, Jamie gasped as he saw them, they looked so different,
They now each wore a suit of chain armour, a blade or two by their sides, Reece had a short beard that seemed to be mainly made of stubble, Dawn's hair seemed to have grown and now reached her waist. Rose seemed to now be a bit taller, and thinner. And Jack, his hair seemed to have grown, now reaching his shoulder in places it seemed to accentuate his facial feature, Jamie noticed something else, all their eyes seemed to be a lot darker and colder,
"You called Mother?" Jack asked,
"I did, we are being tried as criminals" Natura told them, "Wynter attacked J… The Fabler"
"I shall cut him down where he stands, I still owe him" Jack frowned, tracing a finger over a small scar on his cheek.
"So you back Natura's claims of a Nature Civil war?" Manny asked,
"We do, it is the truth, have none of you truly noticed the unevenness of the seasons these past years" Reece told them, before scowling, "Their armies have broken in, Mother what do we do… if they get to the tree…."
"I know child, go, all of you, I shall deal with this alone" Natura told them,
"We'll return when this matter is dealt with" Jack told them, glancing at Jamie before he left.
"Do you want proof that The Rulers are fighting the Sheppard's, then come with me" Natura told them,
"Why?" Manny asked,
"The Sheppard's Army is attacking the Tree of Life, I have just sent the Rulers to deal with them" Natura told them, vanishing in a flash of light,
"We should see!" Jamie nodded, Galactica creating a portal the balance walking through,
(The Nature Plain)
The portal opened and the Balance walked out, looking around, gasping. A Million creatures were fighting in the valley below, Jamie immediately saw Jack duelling Wynter. The two seemingly out for each other's blood.
Jamie decided in that second to try and help, he summoned the power of Galactica and moved the world around him, in an instant he appeared next to Jack, watching the duel, his sword blocking the attacks that came his way. He watched as Jack flicked his blade around disarming Wynter, who collapsed to the ground,
"Now you get what you deserve!" Jack scowled, rasing his blade up,
"Jack, no!" Jamie called and Jack turned to look at him,
"Jamie, this spirit…." Jack began,
"I know Jack…. But he can face Manny's wrath" Jamie told Jack who nodded,
"Ok Jamie, but you need to get out of here" Jack told him walking away from Wynter, who managed to grab his sword,
"Bad Move Frost!" Wynter smiled, stabing his blade forward.
Right through Jack's heart, Jamie screamed as cracks appeared on Jack's face, and hand's before he shattered into a Thousand pieces, his crown and Staff hitting the floor.
Jamie looked at Wynter as he raised his blade, before Jamie fled, running back through the battlefield ignoring Reece being cut down, Dawn being blasted by lighting and Rose being destroyed…
"NOW WE RULE THE SEASONS! ALL HAIL THE SHEPPARDS!" Wynter called smiling, raising the Crown of Winter above his head, a trophy to show the world.
(With the Balance)
Jamie ran to them in tears, "Their dead… all four of them…. They were cut down on the battlefield"
"The Rulers?" Pitch asked, Jamie nodded,
"We should pay our respects, let us go" Manny walked through another portal, while they arrived at a small cove in a dense forest, a massive hill overlooking them.
"We are here to pay our respects for four brave spirits, who now move to Grim's land…" Manny began, unaware that four beings now watched the memorial, smirk's upon their faces…..
That grew in size a bit… oh well
