I know it's been a while, but i'm back. I'll try to start updating this more frequently. May also work on some requests I have.

Jason sighed as he plopped down onto his hotel room bed. They had only been home a week when Steven had called and told him that he was bound for a very important diplomatic mission. When Jason had asked why him, Steven had said that he had become a rather popular icon in a place called the Kalos Region. Jason had heard of the region in passing but knew nothing about it. Steven told Jason that they wanted to join the Coalition of Leagues. Jason was to take two of his Pokémon and meet each of the Gym Leaders there as well as the Elite Four and Champion.

"I know you're probably worried about Abby right now," Steven had said, "but this will be a short mission. You'll be back within three months."

Abby had reassured Jason that she would be fine. Melody had gone to the Hall of Origins to get Celebi in case they needed him for medical emergencies. Allie had told Jason that she would stay there and help as well. Jason had reluctantly agreed to go. He went to the Gym and made preparations for his absence and gathered a few of his Pokémon to keep at the house for security purposes. He had called home upon arriving in the Kalos Region. They had assured him they would be fine.

But still…,

Jason was brought out of his thought by a hand on his shoulder. He looked up to see April standing there. He had decided to bring her along, as well as his father who sat in a corner nearby.

You gonna be ok? April's voice echoed in his mind.

Jason nodded, "I'll be fine. I just can't help being worried about Abby."

"She'll be fine," Lucien said. "The rest of the girls are there and Melody went to get Celebi."

Not to mention Allie works at a daycare, April chimed in. I'm sure she's had experience dealing with pregnant Pokémon.

Jason nodded, "I know, and thinking about those things does make this a little easier."

Well, rest up a bit, but don't wait too long. Professor Sycamore is waiting for you at his lab.

"Yeah, on the other side of the city." Jason got off the bed and grabbed some clothes from his bag. It was his Gym attire. April tried to insist that he wear a suit and tie, or at least go corporate-casual, but Jason refused, saying that he'd rather meet them Leader to Leader, wearing his Gym attire. He argued it would make it less awkward.

Honestly, I don't understand why you just can't dress nice for the Professor at least.

"Because after I'm done with him I plan on meeting this city's Gym Leader." After changing his clothes, Jason left for the other side of town, Lucien and April following. He was staying in the Hotel Richissime on Lumiose City's northern end. The Pokémon Lab was on the southern end of town. They could have taken a cab, but Jason wanted to get a feel for the city. They headed in an eastern direction, looking for a sign saying they were on South Boulevard. It took the three of them nearly an hour to reach where the two boulevards met. Stephen had told Jason that Professor Sycamore's lab was roughly in the middle of South Boulevard, meaning it would be another hour before they reached the lab.

As they walked, April and Jason couldn't help but take in the amazing architecture, including that of the ever-visible tower in the center of the city, which supposedly held city's Gym. Some passersby stopped to look at the three of them, mostly taking in April's special coloring, but they were left alone for the most part.

After walking along South Boulevard for the better part of an hour, the group finally found the research lab. It was an impressive building, looking more like a mansion than a lab. Jason walked up to the door and knocked. After a few minutes the door was opened by a younger man in a white lab coat. He was around Jason's height and had dark blue hair that was styled in what Jason assumed was a Kalos style hairdo. His stature bespoke a carefree attitude yet his grey eyes shone with a brilliance that rivaled several other professors he knew.

The man at the door took in Jason, "Can I help you?"

"Yes, I'm looking for Professor Sycamore," Jason said.

"You're speaking to him. I take it you must be Jason?" Jason nodded. "I've been expecting you, come on in." A smile graced the professor's face as he moved aside to allow Jason and his Pokémon to enter. The interior had the same mansion like feel as the exterior did. Professor Sycamore led the group down a hall and into a room with some odd equipment. There was a girl there who Jason assumed was Sycamore's assistant.

Professor Sycamore turned to look at Jason, "Tell me, Jason, what do you know about Pokémon evolution?"

Jason shrugged, "Very little. I know that while some evolve by gaining experience through battle, others evolve through other stimuli, such as friendship bonds or special stones."

The professor nodded, "Ok, but what if I told you that your Lucario, or even your lovely Gardevoir, could take their evolution one step further, if only for a moment?"

Jason eyed the professor, "You mean a temporary stage of evolution?"

"Not necessarily a new 'stage' so to speak. What I speak of is more of an unlocking of a Pokémon's true power, a power so great it causes them to change form."

Jason was intrigued by this, "Is this possible? Or is it just a theory?"

Sycamore smiled, "It's very possible. I know of a trainer with a Lucario capable of doing this. We've come to call this ability 'Mega Evolution'."

Jason nodded, thinking of the implications. He looked to Sycamore, "So how does it work?"

Professor Sycamore shrugged, "I don't fully understand it myself, but I do know it has something to do with a Pokémon's bond with its trainer. There's an expert on the subject in Shalour City, though even he doesn't fully understand it either."

"I see. Something tells me you want me to help you in your studies?"

Sycamore grinned, "Nothing escapes you. I was actually hoping to study your Lucario for a little while before you left the city. Seeing as how we know Lucario can Mega Evolve, I figured it would be the best place to start."

Jason looked to Lucien, "It's your decision."

Lucien nodded, "I see no harm in it. Why don't I just stay here for the rest of the day?"

Jason shrugged, "Sounds like a plan to me." He turned to see a dumbfounded Sycamore. Jason sighed, "I suppose you're shocked that he can speak?"

Sycamore regained his composure, "Just a little. You're free to stay here until the tests are done. Or perhaps you would like to explore the city."

"Actually, I'm on my way to speak to this city's Gym Leader."

"I see. I hate to tell you this but Clemont is currently away from the city. He had a sudden urge to go traveling with a young trainer from Kanto."

Jason nodded, unstanding. "Well, I guess this would be a good time to explore the city."

Or we could have some fun, April mentally told Jason.

Sycamore took no notice of this mental conversation, "As you wish."

Jason looked to Lucien, "I'll be back in the morning to pick you up. We need to get to Santalune City as quickly as possible." Lucien nodded, "Alright, I'll see you then."

With that Jason and April wished Professor Sycamore fare well and walked out of the lab.

Sycamore looked to Lucien, "They're going to have sex, aren't they?"

"Most likely."

Sycamore nodded, "Must be tough dealing with a Psychic type in that situation."

Lucien chuckled, "Not as hard as dealing with five sex hungry women and a lesbian Glaceon."

Sycamore just looked down the hall Jason had exited through, "Wow…"
