By the way, to all my lovely readers – I'm sorry if my writing isn't what it was a few years ago. I'm trying to match the style I wrote in back then but I may still sound a little different than before. I still hope you can find the story enjoyable.
Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters.
It was absolutely impossible for Mayura to sleep. She kept tossing and turning around in her bed, thinking of Loki and all the things she had discovered earlier that night. He was the cousin. He was a god. He was about to kiss her….Oh gods.
She flipped to her other side for the seventeenth time and sighed.
On the other side of the wall, Loki wasn't having that much luck sleeping either. It's like that kiss he had stopped was now stuck on his lips and playing with his mind. He kept thinking of sneaking into Mayura's room and kissing her gently as she slept…
No, he couldn't do that. He just had to sleep. He forced his eyes shut and breathed deeply.
Mayura….why was it Mayura who made him like this? How did he come to love her this much? Not even Freya, the goddess of love and beauty, could capture Loki's heart. The only person he had ever loved like this once was Angrboda….now Spica.
His door opened just then. Was it Mayura? He kept his eyes closed. What was she doing? He heard quiet footsteps approach him and he was excited for a moment, but when she got closer to the bed, he realized the energy was different. It wasn't Mayura's.
He opened his eyes just in time to see and dodge the knife headed for his heart. The dagger grazed his arm instead.
"Spica! What are you doing?!"
Her eyes were half shut and glowing, "Kill…..Loki…..Kill….."
"Spica…."
She was being controlled. Loki jumped out of his bed and away from arm's reach. He quickly summoned his weapon but hesitated. He couldn't fight back in earnest without hurting Spica.
Spica charged at him, eyes dead.
"Spica! Get ahold of yourself!" He blocked her attack to his chest, wincing at the pain in his arm.
She charged again and Loki dodged. He saw a flash of pink.
"Loki!" Mayura was at the door now, "What's going on?!"
"Mayura, stay back!"
Spica continued her onslaught expertly and without pause. She forced Loki back into a corner and then…
"Loki, watch out!"
Blade met flesh and pierced into the Trickser God's gut. Loki gasped and Mayura screamed out his name. Spica paused for a moment, then stabbed several more times, bringing the Trickster God down to his knees.
"That's enough." Another Loki appeared behind Spica and touched her forehead, speaking a word. Spica passed out and the illusion that Loki created of himself disappeared.
Mayura ran to him.
"Loki! Are you…?"
"Not to worry Mayura…I'm fine. The Loki you saw getting stabbed was a mirage of sorts. But this isn't good….it's Odin. I feel it."
Spica looked peaceful now lying in Loki's arms.
Moonlight leaked into the room and outside a lone raven watched everything with beady eyes. Any who saw it wouldn't have thought anything suspicious about it…..but inside the raven's mind, there was a very suspicious conversation going on.
'He seems to know this is your doing, My Lord.'
A voice responded inside the mind of the raven, 'It doesn't matter. Angrboda is just a distraction until I get my strength back. Keep reporting back to me Muninn.'
'Of course.' Replied the Raven Muninn.
Inside, Spica was taken back to her room by a shocked and concerned Yamino and then Loki's arm was treated. Mayura stayed with him. They sat alone together in the kitchen now, a first aid kit opened and the bandages inside used up, wrapped neatly around Loki's arm. Yamino had gone to search for more somewhere.
"Was that the Spica person you mentioned before?" She asked.
"Yes Mayura."
"Why is she here if she wants to kill you?! I don't understand!"
"That wasn't her….not really."
Mayura looked confused and upset.
"Spica she's….she's being controlled by Odin I think. Something must have triggered her. I'm not sure what it is yet."
Mayura looked worriedly at his bandaged arm, thinking what she would do if he got hurt anymore…or worse….if he got taken away from her.
"Can't she stay somewhere else?"
Loki shook his head, "I can't trust anyone else with her. They might use her to manipulate me."
"Do you care for her?"
Loki looked Mayura in the eyes, "I do."
Mayura wasn't sure why, but hearing that sent a pain like she had never felt before through her chest.
"And so do Yamino and Fenrir." Loki added.
That reminded Mayura of something she had wanted to ask earlier, but she had forgotten all about it with all the hugging and almost-kissing.
"Fenrir and Yamino….are they also part of your world?"
Loki was picking at some bandage tape on the countertop, his little legs swinging from the chair he sat in. It was so strange for Mayura to look at him now and realize that he was much older that how he appeared. Much, much older.
"Fenrir and Yamino…they are…..my sons."
Mayura froze completely. The clocked ticked several times in the absolute silence that had consumed the kitchen. Loki kept glancing up at her but she didn't move.
"Um….Mayura…are you…?"
Mayura shot out of her own chair, "WHAAAAAAT?!"
