San's POV:
I opened my eyes and looked around. My vision was still blurred, but I could see enough to know that I was home. I sat up and glanced at Celebi and Latias. I picked Celebi up and she opened her own eyes, smiling happily at being home. I smiled back at her, but I had sadness in my heart. I had finally found someone like me, only to lose him forever.
'San!'
Latias opened her eyes and we both glanced round in confusion at the telepathic voice, wondering where it came from. A few seconds later, Latios made himself visible. Latias smiled and flew up, hugging her brother.
'Where have you three been? Everyone's looking for you.' He said telepathically and I exchanged a look with Celebi and Latias.
'It's too long a story to talk about.' Latias replied and I shot her a grateful look before glancing at Latios,
"Where are my parents?" I asked.
'In the forest. I'll take you to them.' Latios replied and I walked over, climbing onto his back. He curved his body slightly and shot off like a bullet. I held on tightly, but glanced down at the blurs of the land below us then glanced over my shoulder as Latias and Celebi got further behind, unable to match Latios's speeds.
It didn't take long for Latios to come down, landing in the forest. I leapt off his back and started running, searching through the forest for my parents. I wanted to forget everything and go back to the way I'd lived as a young child. Forget the humans, forget team plasma and team rocket, forget I have powers and just live simply and peacefully. I wanted to forget everything!
I skidded to a stop and lay down between the exposed roots of a huge tree, partly shielding me from view. I also formed a circle of energy around myself, similar to the Pokémon's move protect; to stop anyone coming near me. The soothing noises of the pokemon in the woods helped me to sleep.
I woke up hours later, to see the sun had already set. I yawned and stretched, getting up. I unclipped all my pokeballs then glared at them, deciding this would be the first step in returning to life before. I threw them all into the air, releasing the pokemon inside. They all looked at me quizzically,
"You're all free now. I'm promising not to entrap you in pokeballs anymore. You can do as you wish." I told them all and turned to walk away.
I hadn't gone more than a few metres when I glanced over my shoulder to see every one of my partners; Roserade, Ditto, Glaceon, Arcanine, Salamence and Flygon, were all following me. I smiled and turned to them,
"Is this what you all want? To stay with me?" I asked and each one of them nodded without hesitation.
"It looks like you've formed amazing bonds with your partners."
I turned to the familiar voice then launched myself at my clone, hugging her. I was glad to see we were the same age again. Yami started in surprise, but relented and hugged me back,
"With the way your acting, you'd think you hadn't seen me in years. You've only been in the distortion world a few days." She said once I stepped back.
"….distortion world?" I asked,
"Yeah, remember Giratina takes you there for a few days every month or so." Yami replied and I nodded,
"Uh, yeah. Course." I said unconvincingly and Yami rolled her eyes.
"Well, I gotta get going. The tribe is expecting me back, but come visit soon." She said,
"Of course. I promise." I said then she brought out her Ditto and got it to transform into Pidgeot. She got on its back and then they were gone. I glanced back at my partners,
"I'm glad you guys are staying, but you don't have to stay with me all the time. You're free to come and go." I told them and they scattered, to do their own things. The only one who stayed was Roserade, my very first partner. I smiled at her and we both walked through the woods. I finally found my parents in a clearing near the lake. They all looked over at me and smiled. Suicune walked over and I threw my arms around his neck, burying my face into his fur. He nuzzled me and we lay down side by side to sleep.
I stayed with the beasts in the forest for several months, just the four of us; like old times. All my partners come and go, Roserade more than any of them but I insist she leave every now and then, so she isn't limited to these woods forever.
I found myself thinking of the future less and less, thinking of Julian less and less until one day I feared I would forget him completely. That thought filled me with a panic. I didn't feel for him what I felt for Quinn, there was nothing romantic, but I felt connected to him because of what we both were.
Julian's POV, in the future not long after San left:
I smiled at Skye's obvious excitement. She had recently come across a fire stone and was looking forward to evolving her Growlithe into an Arcanine, like Faye's and Quinn's. She was kneeling on the ground with her Growlithe in front of her and after a few seconds, she went through with it and we watched Growlithe start to evolve. When the light vanished and Arcanine stood in its place. Skye threw her arms round its neck, hugging it happily. She glanced over at me and smiled. I walked over to her and put my arm round her waist.
"Hey, Julian! Come look at this!" I heard Faye call.
"Stay here." I told Skye and ran towards Faye. I slid down a steep hill and landed with ease on the ground, beside Faye. She was staring at something on the ground and I followed her gaze; to see strange looking tracks going the whole way along the trail.
"Have you ever seen anything like it?" I asked Faye and she nodded,
"Once. They're the tracks of a machine called a digger. It's a human made machine that destroys everything in its path." She said sadly and my eyes widened. Without warning, I took off following the digger's tracks, ignoring Faye's cries for me to stop.
'Jules? What're you doing?'
I heard the familiar electrical voice of my power,
'There's danger in the woods. I have to protect the tribe and the pokemon.' I replied to him and could almost imagine him rolling his eyes,
"Right well, call on me as soon as you start losing.' He said and I snorted,
'How can you say that? I'm not that weak!' I hissed, but he didn't reply. I shook my head, ignoring it and kept running.
San's POV (in the past):
I was swimming in the lake when the idea hit me. Dialga brought me to the future and he brought me back here, so why can't he bring Julian back too? Then he doesn't have to not get created in the future; he'll still exist.
I couldn't see any flaws in my plan and quickly dried off so I could go track down Dialga.
I left the forest for the first time in months, with Roserade and Ditto with me. I left the others behind because they were big and would draw more attention.
I ran for a long time, until I was forced to stop or my legs would give out. I fought to get my breath back then looked around the city I'd arrived in; a city with streets full of water and bridges everywhere. I glanced at Roserade and Ditto, who had transformed into a Raichu. I started walking, knowing that this town was where the eon duo lived.
I walked through the town for hours, searching, until Roserade brought my attention to a girl in the street; Latias. I recognised her immediately. I ran over to her and her eyes widened. She smiled happily and hugged me.
'What're you doing here?' She asked mentally.
'I need you and Latios to take me to the hall of origins so I can see Dialga.' I replied to her and she nodded. She grabbed my hand and ran with me through the city, leading me through twists and turns of alleyways and over bridges. Roserade and Raichu, who was really Ditto, ran after us; following easily. She went into a dead end and vanished through a shadow on the wall. I frowned, but trusted her and followed. I realised that the shadow made it too dark to see, but there was a passage there that led down a flight of stone stairs that led to a stone pathway shadowed by a tunnel of trees on either side. I saw Latias running on ahead into the trees. I ran down the stairs and followed her. Soon, the trees ended and I saw an amazing meadow with a huge lake in the middle of it; the eon duo's true home. I saw Latias in her true form flying around. She cooed and her brother shot out of the water. He smiled and flew over to me.
"I need you to take me to the hall of origins." I said, getting right to the point. He nodded and let me get onto his back. Latias flew over, letting Roserade and Ditto get onto her back. They both shot up into the air, flying to the hall of origins.
As soon as they arrived, I leapt off and started running, my pokemon following me. I was able to find the ruler of time quite easily and told him my request.
"Are you sure?" He asked and I nodded.
Dialga roared and a small amount of blue energy formed in front of me. Soon, a blue stone formed in front of me, with green lines inside it that seemed to be moving.
"Take this, daughter of beasts. This will have enough power to get you there and back." Dialga said and I nodded.
The stone glowed and everything went black.
I got my sight back and looked around. I could see that I was back in the future. I glanced down at the stone and saw it wasn't glowing anymore. I sighed and Roserade made a noise; reminding me that her and Ditto were there. I smiled at them and started walking.
Eventually, I came to the jungle and paused; it was a wreck. All of the trees had been ripped out by the roots and I couldn't hear any pokemon. I climbed over the fallen trees; Roserade and Ditto following. I walked for about ten minutes before I heard soft frightened noises. I turned towards the sound and saw a bunch of small pokemon hiding underneath a shelter made by a tree lying half over another one. Roserade, being a caring pokemon, walked over to look after them. I told her to catch me up and went on ahead with Ditto, who transformed into a Megenium. We walked together for miles until I heard a loud noise to the east. I started running and Ditto ran after me. I ran until I saw a large blue lightning bolt shoot through the air.
"Julian!" I yelled and ran faster. I burst out into a clearing and saw the whole tribe with all of their pokemon out, battling against several diggers, with men operating them. Julian was out in the middle with the pokemon. His skin was blue with crackling electricity so I assumed his power was taking control. The tribes' pokemon looked exhausted with fighting. No-one had noticed me yet. I glanced at Ditto,
"Turn into a Salamence." I whispered and Ditto did so, instantly. I got onto his back and directed him to fly up.
"Hyper beam." I whispered and he sent a powerful beam at the diggers, destroying one. All the activity stopped at once and everyone looked up.
"San!" Yami yelled and I grinned,
"Looks like I arrived in time! What's going on?!" I yelled.
"Get out of here!" The tribe all yelled together and I only had enough time to feel confused before several ropes came at me from all sides and expanded into one huge net that trapped me and Ditto. It pulled us to the ground and an electrical current spread through the net and I screamed. Ditto turned back into his true form and I wrapped my arms around him.
"San!" The tribe yelled, watching in horror.
