Tear the Sky, render the Gods
I lay in the bed. It was three o'clock in the morning it had only been an hour since I met Mitsuko. I was a little unnerved. Not by being in her dorm. But because I didn't know what to say.
"Thanks for letting me crash here!" Yea right.
She was lying in the bed next to me. She was looking at me precariously. I wanted to look at her more, because being completely honest with myself. She is quite extraordinary. She hadn't said anything to me since she led me up here. She just examined me like a beady eyed bug. A very attractive bug, so I allowed it. It was a little strange. I was clearly older than her but she didn't seem to mind that. At least I don't think she did. God it was strange. The ticking in my stomach was making it worse. I had to eat soon or just go to sleep!
"So why were you crying?" She finally asked breaking the awkward silence I was forced to endure.
"Its. Um hard to explain. But what you're doing for me now means the world to me so thanks. I guess I just didn't want to be alone." I rolled on to my stomach
Staring at the ceiling. It was clear white plaster, I heard a ruffling noise. She was moving. Then I felt her slump down next to me her arm touched my own and I flushed pink.
"I can hold you if it'll make you feel better?" My breath was caught in my throat, I couldn't physically breath. I was starting to struggle. I coughed repulsively.
"Oh my. Um. If you want." I didn't object, she instead snuggled in a little closer, resting her head on my shoulders. Her eyes coming to a close.
"God why was I the lucky one!"
As my body slowly regained control over itself. I was dragging myself towards Miyuki. She was still out. My hand was cracked and bent unnaturally the pain it shot through me was beyond excruciating. Once I reached her. I clambered to my feet. Since she was light. I lifted her off the ground with my free hand in ease. Looping her around my shoulder I began to take the long hobble back to Makasu'. Shit Makasu! He was going to kill me!
Waking up in a trashcan, next to the building I was blasted off of was a new feeling.
Usually people didn't get surprise moves on me so easily.
Whatever that was, redirection didn't work on it and its attack passed right through my AIM.
It made contact however.
Its vectors were new to me and adapting to them wouldn't have been hard.
Its just the shock of being taken out with a single hit!
The woman he had created, fought like the strongest of warriors.
She struck with grace and fortitude.
Something he wouldn't misjudge so easily.
Why did any of that happen.
Who could it happen.
That women…
She looked like an angel.
Had that boy summoned an angel.
Was their any defense against the wrath of a divine being.
As I went over the attack in my mind and the vectors of its strike.
I took one shallow breath then chuckled.
There is one now.
I walked out onto the street with Mitsuko. Was I in School Garden. It was hard to tell, but I could only see girls in every direction so it must have been. She insisted on taking me home. Which wasn't necessary but I to be honest just wanted to spend a little more time with her. We took a taxi to the district my apartment was located at.
As the taxi came to a halt, she payed to my surprise. Exiting the taxi she escorted me to the building entrance. We had our farewells. Only when I was a little ways up the stairs I realized. I didn't ask for her number! I never ran so fast in my life. But when I got there she was on the floor. Men surrounding her from all sides.
"Hey!" I shouted running towards her. I thrust my hand outwards imagining a strong force of air to propel towards them, oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide and other gasses. It happened just like it did in my head and they were sent rocketing backwards.
"Use the machine!" One of the men screamed.
I growled reaching into my bag. I pulled out the water pistol. Firing it once a small stream of water shot out onto the floor. The man all laughed. That made me laugh silencing them. I pictured the item in my head a long baton of water. Freezing instantly. The stream of water gather water vapour in the vicinity becoming larger after a short delay the baton was on the floor. I picked it up and readied for combat. They all gave it a second sizing me up. Obviously they didn't think much of me now. The baton was cold in my hands but it would make do. Better than attacking them with the water pistol. I stood over Mitsuko preventing them from getting close. Thats when it hit me. A strange sound. I felt a little tingling sensation in the back of my head, nothing to irritating. It turned off and I was left unscathed. They were all confused. Did they try to use a sonic weapon on me?
"Was that sound based weapon? If so, my AIM disorients sound waves in my general vicinity. All particles to be exact. Your best chance it to attack me with your weapons or bare hands." The insult didn't leave a particularly good impression. They all looked furious.
The first one ran at me. I stabbed outwards jabbing the ice into his stomach. I swiped once striking him across the face. The first attacker was down. They corrected that mistake. Two this time from different sides. I had to be a little quicker this time round. Swiping low catching one of guard. The other grabbed me from behind. I kicked back catching him in the knee. He fumbled loosening his grip just enough giving me enough time to wiggle free. I smashed the makeshift weapon across his face and throwing what was left at the second guy.
"Who's next?" I snarled, I ran the next formulae through my head.
I needed to make a fire quick. Propane plus Oxygen and enough friction to ignite them. I felt around for the single cylinder in my pocket. I popped the cap of with ease and let the gas escape its confinement. It diffused into the air but I was just fast enough, catching most of it. Oxygen began to rub against it with increased frequency soon a small ball of fire burned in front of my face. More fuel. Not a problem. Oxygen began to fill into the ball making it much larger about the size of a basket ball.
"Get the freak!" One of them was stupid enough to yell.
I set a small path of oxygen towards him. It ignited giving the illusion of a flamethrower. He recoiled from the intense heat. It was getting harder to breath as the flame swallowed up the nearby oxygen. I flared it dramatically and threw it at the floor the flames followed the direction of oxygen I set out for it. It spread out chasing them back towards the road. My imagination became more vivid and began to wander, my AIM felt other fuel sources nearby. I felt the gasoline of cars and forced it combust smashing the pistons in the engine. The metals iron, steel, aluminum responding to my will. They exploded creating a fiery inferno adding to the flames. The buildings made of granite with iron suspension beams. The granite began to crumble and rocks tumbled down onto the street smashing street lamps and destroying the road. The concrete a combination of rocks held together in bonds. I felt the bonds beginning to separate the road became quicksand they began to seep into it, slowly disappearing. I watched as they managed to scramble out. The terror on their faces, it made me giggle in delight. Soon it was being done without my calculations. Thunder boomed overhead. A Cumulonimbus cloud. Did I summon it. Water vapour carried upwards by powerful updrafts. Easy to do. I tested my ability. Friction from water molecules could cause, electrostatic discharge in theory, static build up inside the cloud was already happening. All it needed was a jump start. It happened without my will, lightning struck the ground in front of me. Blasting back the assailants. I felt powerful. How was I doing this? I wanted to see them hurt and something did it for me. Shards of glass rained down on them. Whoever they were. I felt the flames from the cars. I wanted them to move forward. And they obeyed. Was this what a Level 5 felt like. Cause it felt good.
"Burn. I want you all to burn!"
Whatever was going on outside Misaki had to see.
Something was happening.
She heard the most awful noise.
It sounded like the heavens themselves wanted to rip the sky apart.
The elevator was out.
The hand railings were glowing red hot so she couldn't peek downstairs.
She carefully ran down the stairs to check.
As she turned the corner.
She was surprised.
Makasu?
What was he doing.
He held out his hands and things were changing.
The buildings melted around him.
Thunder boomed overhead as more lightning streaked down.
Raging infernos swirled around the other side of the street.
Their were people their running and screaming.
But Makasu's face was what really terrified her.
He looked…
Sadistic.
She had seen the look before.
She had seen in out on the face of Accelerator.
For a split second she saw his likeness in Makasu.
She was petrified by the monster that stood before her.
"I have the hands of god. I am the strongest there is!" He screamed.
His roar seemed so loud she wanted to shut her eyes and wait for it all to finish.
But he wasn't going to stop.
She remembered seeing that face.
He was enjoying it.
"Makasu? Misaka wants you to stop, cause you're scaring her."
He turned towards her.
His face was confused.
For a second she thought he didn't remember her.
But the lightning stopped and the fires came to a halt.
He blinked a few times.
Blood began to drip from his nose.
She felt concern.
He touched it.
Observing the crimson liquid that seeped from his nose.
At its sight.
His face went pale.
He collapsed soon after.
