"Okay, you will never guess what happened," Henry said.
Maya raised an eyebrow. "What?"
"I mentioned to my mom that I was going to be explaining the stories to you-"
"Which mom?"
"Emma. Anyway, she knows them, but a lot of people here don't know this world's versions of the stories, at least not super well. So we're going to be hosting a viewing party of the Disney movies about the stories."
"Oh..."
"It'll be so fun! We can point out all the wild inaccuracies."
"I can't. I don't know the stories."
"Well, it'll still be fun. You can bring your sister too."
"Great."
"Welcome!" Mary Margaret said as people stepped in the door. "This is going to be a great day."
"This was not worth waking up at 7 am for," Regina grumbled.
"Oh, calm down, would you?" Robin Hood said. "It's a fun idea."
They went in. Time went on, and soon Mary Margaret, David, Emma, baby Neal, Henry, Hook, Regina, Robin Hood, Roland, Rumpelstiltskin, Belle, Aurora, Phillip, Phillip Jr., Mulan, Ashley, Thomas, Alexandra, Nick, Ava, and their dad, Jefferson, Grace, and, oddly, Maya and Aryn, were all gathered around the rather small TV screen.
"Ok. First, we'll watch Snow White."
"Of course," said Regina.
"That's your story too," said Robin Hood.
"Don't remind me."
Snow White
"I'm not ugly! Evil, maybe. But ugly?!"
"Let it go, Regina."
"Shut up."
"I wanted her dead because she was too pretty?! I am not that petty!"
"We know, Regina."
"Gosh, this girl is like 14," said Snow.
"She's just a housemaid. This is what they turned my amazing warrior wife into?"
"I knew her before I kissed her! I did not just kiss some random girl in the woods! Who would do that?!"
"That guy would," Henry said.
Cinderella
"Huh."
"This isn't so inaccurate, except for the names of my stepsisters and kindly leaving out what I did to Clorinda."
"A lot of mouse action, though."
"Yeah, what's up with that?"
"Also left out who the fairy godmother really was, and the price."
"Oh yeah... that."
"Sorry about that," Mr. Gold said.
"Little late, Mr. Tried-to-Steal-My-Baby."
"They fell in love awfully quickly," Maya couldn't help but note.
"Yeah, that is weird. Our love was significantly more nuanced than that."
"Does nobody have the same shoe size as you?"
"That's not how it really happened! He found the matching slipper. Oh, this movie and its dramatizations."
"Hey, I don't just... disappear in this one."
"And I don't get locked up."
"Yeah, cause you're not in it. A plus for the movie."
Beauty and the Beast
"Well, I'm certainly quite hairy in this one."
"Yes, you are. And my character is quite bookish, but not as adventurous as I might have liked."
"Oh, killing wolves. Okay then. I do like that."
"If he was trying to seduce her to break a curse, is it real love?"
"Let's not discuss the details of that relationship, Rumple, it's not really ours."
Peter Pan
"I hate this one already."
"Give it a chance, Rumple."
"Oh, Peter Pan's supposed to be a good guy now. Well, he isn't!"
"I have to agree on this one issue," Hook piped up.
"Yeah, definitely bad," said Henry.
"They got Wendy pretty close," Maya noted.
Sleeping Beauty
"Well, she's pretty."
"Not as pretty as you, Aurora," Phillip said, kissing her. Maya thought she saw Mulan roll her eyes.
"That's a stupid and petty reason to cast a curse."
"All she does this whole movie is sleep? How boring. I do more than that."
"What's with the kissing girls who are unconscious near-strangers?" Phillip said, affronted. "These movies make men into..."
"Creeps, is I think the word you're looking for," said David.
Robin Hood
"I'm a fox."
"You sure are," said Regina.
"Papa, what's that mean?"
"Watch the movie, Roland."
Mulan
"Huh. Mine's pretty close, I guess. Except for ending up with that general guy at the end. I never fell in love with a general." Maya thought she saw her eyes flicking over to Aurora and Phillip... hmm.
Hansel and Gretel
"Okay, I did not just abandon my kids in the woods."
"We weren't that stupid."
"I'm not in it."
"Shut up, Regina."
Alice in Wonderland
"I'm barely even in this movie. It's all about Alice! And they didn't even really get her story right, but-"
"Papa, why are you crazy?"
"I don't know. This character is literally insane. How offensive."
"This Queen of Hearts isn't nearly as cruel and sadistic as the real version."
"By the real version, you mean your mother, right?"
"Yes, Emma, I mean my mother."
"Well, that was fun."
"The joy of my life," Maya said dryly.
"We're leaving now, right?" said Aryn.
"Yes. Definitely."
"You got to know the stories, at least."
"Yeah. Great. Maybe later you can tell me the real stories?"
"Sure."
"See you Henry." She gave him a quick kiss and they left.
