A/N: And we are nearing the end. Which is weird because, unless you count OneShots, I have never finished a fanfic. Amazing. So, as I said before, if you desperately need anyone, now is the time to say so. And now enjoy chapter 14 of somewhere around 20.

I was very glad that no one thought it necessary to make the living room the common bedroom. When we arrived with Emma and Charlotte Deliah had looked like she wanted nothing more, but Magnus had woven some light warding spells around the house and everybody had taken a knife or sorts to their room. We were running out of rooms which is why Deliah moved in with Rachel so that Emma and Charlotte didn't have to sleep in the living room. After the logistics had been settled everyone went to bed. That is until an hour or so ago when I, tossing around in my own bed, had sneaked into Magnus' room. People say love wakes you up but right now he was tiring me in all the right ways. He seemed to sense that and decided to have a conversation.

"So what do you think about it?", he asked.

"Mhhhh?"

"The whole ending up in another world thing. I just don't get how."

I sighed. "Dunno. You're the warlock, remember? How am I to have an explanation if you don't have the slightest clue?"

"I thought a second set of eyes might prove useful", he answered.

"Okay." I propped myself up on the elbow. "I think it was some warlock that wanted us out of the way. Maybe hired by Sebastian. But whatever spell he used, something went wrong. That's why everyone is coming over."

He nodded then stared at the ceiling for a while.

"So what are you looking for all day long?", I asked.

"Spells, partly. Mostly for signs of other warlocks, hoping I could find one who had something to do with it."

"Fruitless effort so far?"

"Mh-h. I suppose there are just so many warlocks as the author of these books described. Which, it appears, aren't that many…."

He had kept staring at the ceiling the whole time and a hole opened up in my stomach. I put my hand on his shoulder.

"Hey", I said and he finally turned to me, way too much pain in his eyes. I kissed his forehead. "It's going to be okay."

I kissed his temple next, then let my mouth run down the side of his face and his jaw line. Taking his face in both hands his lips met mine. I crawled on top of him, straddling him, and we continued kissing for a while, his tongue wandering down my neck. He rested his forehead against mine.

"It's going to be okay", he repeated.

I smiled and kissed him again.

I awoke to Deliah screaming. I knew her screams and tumbled out of bed, not able to savor the fact that it was Jesses bed and it were his arms I had woken up in.

After we went to sleep last night I had sneaked into his room and we talked for a while. Then I ended up on his lap and we made out, falling asleep a tangle of limbs and sheets. Now I had to get up and search for my pants that had ended up on the floor. Trying to get into my pants and to my best friend at the same time I stumbled into our room.

Alec was already there, his T-Shirt a clear indicator that he hadn't spend the night in his room either. Deliah sat on the bed, staring at my empty side.

"What happened?", I asked and Alec turned around. I patted down my hair, hoping it didn't look much like made-out-with-a-guy-and-fell-asleep-in-his-bed. The raise of his eyebrow told be that it probably did.

"She's right here, Deliah", he told her and then, turning back to me added in a lower tone: "She woke up and you weren't there."

I felt a little guilty for last night all of a sudden and crawled into bed, taking her in my arms.

"Sh, it's okay. I'm here, I'm sorry. I...I couldn't sleep and went downstairs to read. I didn't mean to scare you."

My eyes met Jesses who stood in the doorway. He nodded slightly and I was glad that he wasn't pissed. Deliah had calmed down a by now and looked up at everybody.

"I'm sorry too. I have probably PTSD after last night and I'm kind of a scary cat so…" She trailed off.

"Sorry to wake you guys", I said and glanced at the alarm clock on the bedside table. 6:38.

Alec stifled a yawn, then turned to leave. "I suppose I'll try to get some more sleep", he said and was gone. Jesse lingered in the doorway a little longer, staring at me intently. After I returned the stare shortly he too was gone, closing the door behind him. No one else seemed to have been bothered by the scream so it was just me and Deliah for a while, falling back into old patterns.

"It's scary", she said, "all of this. I mean, at first it was cool. Who doesn't wish that this and that character was real sometimes? But with the demons? And all the other creepy stuff like magic? It's scary as hell."

I laughed. "It's not to bad though. Being the badass heroine of a book? That's like totally awesome."

"Only if you can handle it", she answered. "Which I obviously can't. I prefer the second hand killing very much. Can we go back now?"

The smile vanished from my face. "I don't think it's that easy."

We were silent for a moment and then switched to easier topics, like how we imagined other characters ended up and theories of how City of Heavenly Fire might end. When the sun filtered through the shades Deliah excused herself, needing to shower. I hung back to get the shades up and then got my hair under control and in a ponytail.

Someone knocked at the door frame and I turned to see Jesse, smiling at me. He looked around the room, clearly searching for Deliah.

"She's showering", I said as a way of greeting.

"Good. We need to talk about last night."

In all of human history these words had never meant anything good, yet I told myself to calm down. He took a step towards me. Took my hand.

"What's gonna happen after we get them back into the books?", he asked.

I shrugged, looking at my hand in his. "We'll probably forget what happened because otherwise shit would get messy. But I also think that whatever happened cannot be completely undone. Maybe the universe will simply create another reality to replace it?"

I couldn't define the look he gave me and when he stayed quiet I said: "I'm sorry. I'm probably weird-ing you out. I'm such a nerd."

I looked down at our hands and then his fingers trailed along my cheek, cupping my face. "I think it's cute."

I smiled as he kissed me.

"So we are living in an alternate universe right now?", he asked. "Sounds good." He kissed me again.

"Are you okay with us being secret for a while?", I asked.

"Stolen kisses and making out secretly?" He brushed my lips with his. "I suppose I can contempt myself with that for now."

With that he turned and walked out leaving me to smile stupidly after him.
