Hi, hi! The last chapter of 'Making The Right Choice' has arrived! I hope you'll enjoy it. It has been a long ride.

Please enjoy.

Kourin's POV

I was leaning against the door frame, watching Kai pack his things. I was feeling a little hurt that he didn't tell me why he's leaving. He said it was about the scholarship, but that lie cannot fool me, not even in the slightest.

"So, does this mean we have to go shopping tomorrow? We could go together and I can call up Aichi as well," I asked, seeing that a few things in his suitcase were missing. Kai just looked up and I seriously wasn't able to read the emotion in his eyes.

"No, it's fine. Don't bother, I can it do it by myself, but thank you for the offer," Kai said, closing his suitcase, putting in on the ground and disappearing into the bathroom. Did he just reject my offer? But he never did that, so why now? Did I do something? Does he dislike Aichi or something?

This sentence didn't let my sleep that night. I kept rolling in my bed from one side to the other, trying to sort this out. And I guess it's no surprise I failed miserably. The break of dawn came earlier than expected. I decided to meet up with Misaki to have some girl time, but if I'm at it, I can ask her a few things about Kai in the process.

"I'm leaving now!"

"See ya later, have a nice day," I heard Kai respond from his room. I frowned and walked down to the park we wanted to meet up. I soon recognized her figure and waved at her. She smiled at me and we decided to get into the mall.

"I have a date with Miwa later, so I will have to cut our trip short, if you don't mind," Misaki said apologetically. Oh yeah! I had a date with Aichi on my own today! Man, all of this Kai-drama made my head totally dull.

We had ice-cream together, went shopping and all in all enjoyed a beautiful time. We really strengthened out bond with our silly little trips. The last destination was the pond in the park nearby. We sat down with two bottles of orange juice. We would part soon, now is probably the perfect time to ask her about Kai-kun.

"Umm… Misaki? Have you noticed some strange behavior with Kai lately?"

An awkward silence entered and we just sat there in pure silence, until Misaki started to talk. By her expression and all, I could tell she didn't really want to tell me and that she was thinking if she should tell me and lucky me, she decided to speak up.

"Listen, Kourin, I really shouldn't be telling you this, but considering the situation about Kai's departure, I will share with you what I know. The real reason, behind Kai's scholarship is that…"

Come on. Tell me, I need to know. I finally want to know what's behind this attitude.

"… he's in love with you."

Everything stopped. The words just kept repeating in my head over and over again.

"No, that can't be. That's ridiculous!"

Was it?

"Kourin, I like Aichi, don't get me wrong, but tell me one thing. I would bet all my money that you have never thought about your feelings towards Kai, right? Are you really able to live on without him? But if you choose Aichi now, you'll have to part from Kai, and that forever."

Umm… yes? Kai is my best friend, almost like a brother, but that doesn't mean I'm dependent on him. I spent most of my life with him, but I knew a day would come when we would go separate ways.

"Look, there's one way and there's another. The first path is that you run home immediately and tell Kai your feelings, if you have any towards him or the second one, leading you to Aichi, where your date is located. I know, it's hard, but if you don't do that now, it might be too late."

My head was spinning and my mind was engulfed with millions of thoughts. What should I do? I mean, like I said, I knew this day would come. I knew that Kai and I wouldn't be together forever. Yeah, he was the most important person in my life for the longest time, but now it's different. I'm able to live without Kai. The planet won't stop rotating if we part.

I knew what I had to do. I turned into the right direction and sprinted towards the one I loved.

Narrative POV

A brunette student took his suitcase and backs and left the keys on the kitchen table. He said goodbye to all things in the house, tears rolling down his cheek. He would miss his home, but he realized this wasn't his home anymore. He closed his eyes and closed the door shut behind him.

"Maybe our paths will cross someday and we can become friends again."
