Together At Last

Since Blaine was dead he truly regretted some things that had went wrong in his life. For example, he had stayed too long with Kurt for the wrong reasons. And actually he had thought that was over now he was dead but when his name was called out one fine day while he was chilling on a cloud with Finn and Rachel, his thoughts were proven wrong once again.

"Blaine Anderson, you are expected to welcome your soul mate into heaven at gate ten. Blaine Anderson to gate ten, please."

"Huh?" Blaine questioningly looked at his friends. Finn nodded.

"Whenever someone you loved down there died they call you out so you can greet them."

"But I thought dead frees, uhm, breaks bonds and I'm not married to Kurt anymore? I mean after all the saying is 'until death do us part' and no longer."

"Well, look at Finn and me. We weren't married but still reunited after death", Rachel said, clapping her hands.

"Oh, I can't wait to see Kurt again! It's been too long."

Blaine mumbled but well, since it was his duty to welcome his soul mate he went to gate ten. Finn and Rachel accompanied him and were way happier about it than he was. As they arrived they also met Kurt's parents and, mysteriously, Sam's dad. Blaine greeted them with a nod.

When the gate opened and Kurt came out Blaine felt the same sickness he had felt for years before his death. He should have had the guts to break it off. Maybe he still could...? Was it even possible to divorce in heaven? From your soul mate even, the one person God had made especially for you?

Blaine gulped and forced a smile in his face.

"Blaine!" Kurt hugged him tightly for a few moments in that Blaine didn't know what to say or do.

"Oh my God! Rachel, Finn! How long has it been?" Kurt rushed to his friends and threw his arms around them.

"Cool, it's just how I thought it would be."

Blaine jerked around at the sound of Sam's voice and indeed, his best friend was walking trough the gate, too. Blaine put his hands to his mouth.

"Sam! Why are you here? You should have lived so much longer!"

Shit, it was good to see Sam. Blaine had missed him. Though he wondered how on earth – or how in heaven – he still could love Sam more than Kurt. Wasn't that torture supposed to stop now?

Instead of an answer Sam pulled Blaine into his arms and pressed him against his body. Blaine hugged back just as tightly and sighed into Sam's neck. Tears were escaping his eyes without his permission and he gave in, never wanting to let Sam go ever again.

"I love you", he whined. Damn, he needed Sam to know. Screw right or wrong.

"I love you, too. We are so stupid, Blaine. We had so many years but we didn't manage to get together."

Sam squeezed him and then pulled back a bit to look into Blaine's eyes.

"I knew it was you since high school. I should have said something but I always thought I was crazy and you were meant for Kurt. Why... Why did you marry him?"

"Huh?"

Blaine let go of Sam and looked over his shoulder. Kurt was happily chatting with his parents, looking as if he never would leave then ever again. What kind of question was that, Blaine had married him because they were soul mates!

Looking back at Sam Blaine felt like a huge truck hit him and forced him to finally realise... No. It had never been Kurt.

He moved closer to Sam and took his hand.

"You..? Of course it's you! But..." Blaine didn't know what to say. It was Sam.

Sam.

The blond moved closer, too, and gently pressed his lips to Blaine's mouth. Oh sweet Lord. Blaine was in heaven, for the first time he was here he actually felt like it. He didn't know why they had waited so long. Had waited at all. But now they were here.

Together at last.
