The next morning the group went back to the infirmary to check on Ash and Koji, only to find that their friends were gone and other students were now occupying their beds, while a third student was lying in a bed too, all three sustaining serious injuries.
Seeing this caused Zoe to ask in concern for the students. "Ms. Fontaine what happened?"
"And where are Ash and Koji?" Dawn added, concerned for them too, but more for Ash.
"Don't worry, they're fine." Ms. Fontaine replied, before saying. "Well, physically they are, but mentally..."
"They must be going through all the stress and similar feelings of regret that I felt after I woke up." Kari explained, to which Ms. Fontaine nodded in reply as she then said. "You may be right Kari. As for where they are, I believe Ash headed back to his Dorm room, but I have no idea where Koji went."
"That answers one question. Now what happened here?" Rika asked.
"From what I know, all these students were challenged by the same Duelist who used a very dangerous Card that can inflict real damage." Ms. Fontaine replied, causing everyone in the room to turn at Naruto, who blinked in confusion.
"What?" Naruto asked, unsure why everyone was looking at him, before Sakura suddenly grabbed him by the collar of his jacket.
"Naruto, you played that damn Kyuubi Card just to win some medals? I told you not to use it!" Sakura snapped at him, scaring him and some of the other Duelists.
"Sakura, I won all my Gennex Medals fair and square. And I did it without relying on the Kyuubi Card. Believe me." Naruto quickly replied in defense.
Knowing Naruto wasn't one to attack or harm innocent people, Sakura let go of him and then said. "I'm sorry Naruto. I just got caught up in the fact you are the only one on this entire island with a Card that can be so powerful."
"Actually that's not true." Ms. Fontaine stated, gaining the attention of the group, before turning to Jaden and saying. "Chancellor Sheppard wanted me to inform you that he wishes to speak to you about these attacks."
"Ok." Jaden replied, as he was about to head off, in which Ms. Fontaine then told him. "He also wanted me to tell you that an old friend of yours' is back."
-Sometime later: Inside of Chancellor Sheppard's office-
Chancellor Sheppard was at his desk, talking to none other than the creator of Duel Monsters, Maximillion Pegasus, and Chumley, before Jaden suddenly burst his way into the room and asked. "Is Chumley really back?"
Chumley, Pegasus, and Sheppard turned to see Jaden coming towards them, in which Chumley smiled to see his friend and old roommate.
"Jaden! Give me some love!" Chumley yelled out excitedly as he squeezed Jaden in a big bear hug, causing Jaden to gasp out. "Can't breathe... Chum..."
After Chumley released Jaden for some air, Pegasus asked curiously, interested in the Duelist who had just entered as he could sense his potential. "Who do we have here?"
"Why this is Chumley's former roommate, Mr. Jaden Yuki." Chancellor Sheppard proudly told Pegasus in reply.
"Ah, so this is Jaden-boy!" Pegasus said as he walked over to Jaden and shook his hand, before telling him. "Charmed. Why Chumley here tells me you're are the cat's pajamas."
Confused by Pegasus' comment, Jaden asked, perplexed. "The what?"
After Pegasus stopped shaking Jaden's hand, Chancellor Sheppard told Jaden. "Jaden, meet Maxamillion Pegasus, president and founder of Industrial Illusions."
Knowing full well Pegasus was, Jaden replied, glad to meet the creator of Duel Monsters. "Of course, hi. But why is he here?"
Upon hearing Jaden's question, Chancellor Sheppard cleared his throat and soon explained. "Yes, about that..."
After Chancellor Sheppard had told Jaden the reason why Pegasus and Chumey had arrived, he was shocked.
"What? Somebody stole the Winged Dragon of Ra Card!? No way! That's one of the most powerful Cards in Duel Monsters." Jaden stated in disbelief.
Pegasus nodded in reply and then told Jaden. "Yes, and the most dangerous. The original contained the spirit of Ra."
"But I thought that Card was destroyed." Jaden stated, a little confused, before Pegasus explained. "It was but we developed a copy for research purposes with nearly identical powers."
"So what happened to it?" Jaden then asked.
"Like I said, my chief designer has stolen the Card from our vaults." Pegasus replied, before Chumley added. "That's not all, he stole my grilled cheese too."
"We have reason to believe this Winged Dragon of Ra replica is here. In fact, several students have reported Ra related injuries." Chancellor Sheppard then said, shocking Jaden again as he remembered all the students suffering in the infirmary.
"So what do you want me to do about it?" Jaden asked curiously.
"Nothing. This is too dangerous." Chancellor Sheppard replied in a serious tone, before instructing. "Until the Winged Dragon of Ra is safely back in Pegasus' possession, you are to tell your friends to return to their Dorm rooms and wait. Understand?"
"You got it." Jaden replied as he headed out, only for Chancellor Sheppard to think out loud. "That's Jaden for you. If you tell him to not to do something, he'll do it and try to Duel you in the process."
"You mean he's actually going to look for Ra?" Pegasus asked in a somewhat surprised tone at Jaden's bravery/foolishness, in which Chancellor Sheppard nodded in reply, causing Pegasus to turn his attention to Chumley and say. "Chumley, I want you to go with Jaden-boy. I'm sure there's plenty you want to catch up upon."
"Right away, sir." Chumley replied as he smiled and left the room to catch up with his friend and meet Jaden's new ones.
-Sometime later: Inside the Slifer Red Dorms-
Within the portion of the Slifer Red dorms that Chazz redesigned before he was joined the Society of Light, was most of those who were united and determined to stop Sartorius, including Alexis' friends, Jasmine and Mindy and her brother, Atticus, assembled together and discussing about what was happening on the island.
"As if we didn't have enough to worry about, we've got some jerk with a copy of one of the most powerful Monster Cards in existence causing trouble!" Sakura said, while Hinata smiled for a moment as she looked at Naruto, as his innocence was proven. 'I knew it wasn't you, Naruto.'
"Man, Jaden! You and the others have got it rough! First you have this whole deal with this Society of Light and now you have The Winged Dragon of Ra to deal with. So not-lishous." Chumley stated.
"So what now?" Calumon asked, wanting to play with his friends in the hopes it would help take his mind off the scary Monster outside.
"Momentai." Terriermon replied, before saying. "I'm sure we can find a way to pass the time. Like a Duel, for fun and no Gennex Medals on the line."
"Actually I had other ideas." Jaden then said as he closed his eyes and started scratching his left cheek.
"You're gonna look for Ra, aren't you?" Chumley questioned.
Jaden nodded and then replied in his usual enthusiastic tone. "Ten-four!"
"Then I'm coming with." Davis then said as he walked up to Jaden, as did Veemon, who added. "Me too!"
Everyone else gasped in shock from hearing that, before Tori asked. "Are you guys nuts!? Don't you know that the Winged Dragon of Ra is among the most powerful Monsters in Duel Monsters?"
"Not to mention that the Winged Dragon of Ra is the most powerful of the three Egyptian Gods?" Astral added as he appeared by Tori's side.
Jaden nodded his head and then replied. "I know, but it sounds like a great challenge."
"Then you can count on us coming with you too." Kari then said as Gatomon nodded in agreement.
"Wait Kari, you too!?" Yolei asked in a stunned tone, before saying. "Davis I get but you?"
"Yolei, I know you're concerned for me but I can look after myself." Kari replied in a friendly tone, before the Digidestiened of Light asked. "Besides somebody has to look out for Davis. And who better than his girlfriend?"
All the Digidestined and their partners, excluding Silvermon, were left speechless upon hearing that Davis and Kari were now boyfriend and girlfriend, guessing the same applied with Veemon and Gatomon, noticing the blushes on the Digimon's faces.
Expecting Yolei to go into questioning them further, instead the Digidestined of Love and Sincerity told them, as she was girlfriend to Ken, the same Ken who once tried to take over the Digital World, but thanks to Davis believing Ken had a good heart, he wound up as a good guy and her boyfriend. "Alright then. Just promise me you'll all be careful."
Davis, Kari, Veemon and Gatomon smiled, seeing their friends accepting of their relationships, in which they nodded in reply, while knowing there was no changing Jaden's mind, Chumley handed a Card to Jaden and told him. "Well then you'll need this. It's a new Card I designed myself. Anyway, it's a Field Spell and it might come in handy."
"Thanks Chum." Jaden replied, grateful from his friend's gesture, as he took the Card and added it to his Deck.
With that, Jaden and the Digidestined left the Dorm room, in search for the Winged Dragon of Ra and its captor.
-With Koji-
The Legendary Warrior of Light was standing by the lighthouse in the harbor, filled with regret and despair as to what he had done and became while brainwashed by the Society of Light, thinking to himself. 'I can't believe it. I betrayed my friends, my duties as a Legendary Warrior and was willing to take my own brother.'
"Koji!" A familiar voice called out, causing him to look over to see Shinya, Zoe, JP, Tommy and Koichi running up to him.
"Guys? What are you doing here?" Koji asked.
"We cam to look for you to see if you're ok?" Zoe replied.
"How can you still care about me? After all that I did to all those innocent Digimon?" Koji asked, before asking his twin brother. "And to you, Koichi?"
"Koji, it wasn't your fault. Sartorius' blinded and controlled your thoughts and actions. You didn't really know what you were doing." Koichi replied.
"Come on Koji, you can't keep beating yourself over what happened. None of us blame you for what happened. We're just glad to have you back." Tommy stated in an honest tone.
"Koji, we all really care for you and none of us blame you for anything that happened while you were under Sartorius' control. That's why I fought and Dueled my hardest to set you free and I'm glad that you are back." Koichi then told Koji, who could only smile as he wiped some tears from his eyes at the trust and love his friends had for him, before they smiled back.
However, Shinya, Zoe, JP, Tommy, Koji and Koichi stopped as they looked up as the clouds turned black and lightning began to shoot down from the now black sky.
Wondering why the sky had turned so dark and violent, the Legendary Warriors received their answer, shocked to see The Winged Dragon of Ra descending from the lightning clouds, in which they all headed towards Ra's location, believing that someone as reckless as Jaden would get caught in the commotion despite the warnings and wanted to make sure everyone was ok.
-Moments ago-
Within a clearing in the middle of the woods, Pegasus, who now had Duel Disk attached to his left arm, looking around for any signs of the rouge Card designer that took the copy of The Winged Dragon of Ra.
As Pegasus continued his search, he stopped as he heard a familiar male voice call out to him. "Pegasus! Um... Mr. President!"
Turning around Pegasus looked to see Jaden and several of his friends running towards them.
"Jaden-boy? What are doing out here? And who are these? Friends of your's?" Pegasus asked.
"I am Davis Motomiya, the Digidestined of Courage, Friendship and Miracles." Davis said as he introduced himself.
"And I'm his partner, Veemon." Veemon added.
"I'm Kari Kamiya and this is my Digimon partner, Gatomon." Kari said, while Gatomon nodded in reply and smiled.
After catching his breath, Jaden replied. "And we're here to you help out. I want to get Ra back before more people are harmed and to know why someone would want to use such power."
'You have a good heart, Jaden. I can see why Chumley and Chancellor Sheppard talked so highly about you.' Pegasus thought to himself as he smiled and sat on a large rock, before telling Jaden and his friends. "This isn't the first time that someone tried to use a counterfeit Ra Card. There was an incident several years ago and the Egyptian Gods considered the Card an insult. Out of anger, the spirit of Ra sent that Duelist to the Shadow Realm."
"So, you want to stop this before something like that happens to him?" Davis asked, to which Pegasus nodded and said in reply. "Correct."
However, Jaden, Pegasus and the Digidestined were then interrupted as a male voice with a German accent called out. "Well! Well! Hail to the Chief!"
The pair looked over to see a man with deep grey hair, glasses over his blue eyes, wearing a blue business shirt, black business pants, black business shoes, and a large grey trench coat over the shirt and pants as a Duel Disk adorned his left arm, causing Pegasus to question him. "Frantz, have you lost your mind?"
Frantz only smirked at the question before he then displayed the Winged Dragon of Ra Card on his right hand.
"Return it at once!" Pegasus demanded, before trying to appeal to him. "Don't do something you'll regret later, Frantz."
"Heir Pegasus, so we meet again. If you really want this card, you will have to earn it." Frantz replied simply as he placed the copy of the Winged Dragon of Ra in his Deck and began shuffling, before saying. "So as we used to say, it is your move, my friend."
"So, it's a Duel you want?" Pegasus asked, preparing to activate his Duel Disc, only for Jaden to get in between him and Frantz and say. "You've got it let's throw down!"
"Stealing cards and making counterfeit copies is just not cool, bro! Who do you think you are?" Jaden then asked as the spirit of Winged Kuriboh appeared by his side, concerned for him, in which Jaden whispered to his spirit partner. "Don't worry, it's all good, Kuriboh."
Upon hearing that, Pegasus' eyes widen, also seeing the Duel Spirit, as he then thought to himself, seeing a lot of Yugi inside of Jaden's determined personality. 'Interesting! Jaden-boy can see Monster spirits and now, he is taking on an Egyptian God Card, just like my old pal, Yugi-boy.'
Franz then asked. "So did they teach you about the God Cards in this school?"
"First, there's Obelisk the Tormentor. Then you have Slifer the Sky Dragon, Yeah? That one is incredibly vicious." Franz said, before stating. "But not as vicious as the Winged Dragon of Ra!"
"Everyone knows the Egyptian God Cards. That's like Dueling one-o-one. So don't think you're scaring me." Jaden replied.
"Very well, heir Jaden, if you're such an expert then let's get this show on the road." Frantz said, before he and Jaden activated their Duel Disks and called out in unison. "Game on!"
