Disclaimer: I don't own Danny Phantom or Teen Titans.

Robin lurked in Slade's lair, watching as the villain watched his fight with the Titans on various screens. His lips curled up in disgust as he watched himself take down all his friends.

That fight had been horrible. He was forced to fight with his friends again, and saw firsthand what happened when he disobeyed Slade's orders. He clenched his teeth as he remembered Starfire collapse in his arms, convulsing. He could almost feel the nanobots vibrate beneath her glowing skin…

He had to focus. This wasn't about his woes at the moment; it was about defeating Slade and getting that controller-

A squeak beside him made him jolt, tightening his grip on the motionless gear he was crouching on. His reflexes betrayed him; and soon he found he was holding a mouse Beastboy in a death grip.

He immediately let go, and the green mouse dropped to the ground. Robin shuffled back a bit, a defensive stance forming in his crouch. What was Beastboy doing here? Were the others with him? How did he even get here?

Beastboy transformed back into a human. He opened his mouth to say something, which Robin immediately covered. He maneuvered Beastboy so that his back was to Robin's chest, one hand still covering his mouth and the other securing him. He squashed down the bile rising in his throat, trying to picture the scene of just another day at the Tower, roughhousing-

"What the hell are you doing here?" Robin said in a low voice. He meant to sound dangerous and threatening, but it came out sounding nearly hysterical.

Beastboy uncovered his mouth, and whispered, "We've come to save you, dude! We know about the blood doo-hickeys!"

Blood doo-hickeys? The probes…

"I came in to scout a little, since we've never really been here. It was only by chance I found you up here."

Robin stared at Beastboy for a minute. Then whispered, "You shouldn't have come alone. It's too dangerous; Slade has got sensors and cameras all over the place."

Beastboy shivered at the news, and nervously looked around. He hadn't seen any cameras, though it was kind of dark-

"Beastboy. I need you to do something for me."

He looked up, surprised to see actual desperation in their leader's face. He didn't often see vulnerability like that in Robin; it was mostly either a happy mask (added to the one he usually wore) or angry determination.

Beastboy grew serious, then asked, "What is it?"

"I need you to find Danny," Robin said. "Slade's got him prisoner here. You guys are hostages; even if you beat him, and deactivate the probes, he's still got Danny."

"Danny? He's here!" Beastboy knew that the meta was missing, but he hadn't connected the disappearance to Robin and Slade. "Alright. You know where he is?"

Robin looked guilty. "Not from here. I know it's in a hallway, but there are a lot of them in his lair. If you could follow his scent, that would be great."

"I can't follow the scent of something I haven't really smelled before, but Danny does have a weird aura that I can follow in some animal forms." It was true; in bloodhound form he could smell a strange scent underneath the usual human aroma. It was almost like...wet dirt. Graveyard dirt…

Robin's attention flicked back to Slade, who was now speaking. His blood boiled when he heard the man praising him, and he motioned Beastboy to go. He would need a distraction, and Robin would provide it for him. Beastboy left, and Robin slowly stalked toward the masked man.

"My apprentice is progressing even faster than I had hoped. All he needed a little motivation," Slade said.

That was the last straw. He grabbed Slade's wrist from behind, pulling his fist back to punch.

"Motivate THIS!"

Beastboy sniffed the ground, looking for that weird and creepy scent. He had radioed the rest of the team earlier, telling them to come as quick as they could. He knew Robin was fighting Slade; he could hear it with his sensitive ears.

There! He resisted the urge to howl as he followed the scent. It led him down a narrow hallway, ending at a steel door.

"Great, how do I get in there?" he said once he went back human. He scratched his head for a bit, then an idea struck him. "I just hope it doesn't get Slade to come check the noise out," he thought at he transformed into a triceratops.

He shuffled back a bit, as there wasn't much room in the hallway, and charged at the door. It gave out under his three horns, leaving him only with a massive headache but also accomplishment.

He was about to shout out in triumph, when he noticed the occupant.

There was no mistaking Danny, even if he was bleeding and definitely worse for wear. The scent of blood in the room was sickening; man, what did this kid go through?

"...Beastboy?" he heard Danny say in a soft, raspy voice.

"Hey, dude," he said. "I take it you've seen better days, huh?"

Danny snorted, which immediately turned into a pained cough. "No duh. Now, have you come to get me out of here, or bore me to death with badly timed jokes?"

"Alright, alright," Beastboy said as he jumped over the fallen door and jogged to the sitting teen. He looked at the cuffs; gulping at how advanced they looked. They reminded him of the cuffs Starfire wore when she crash landed in Jump. "Let's see if I can get these cuffs off."

"There's a built in defense mechanism if you pull too hard on them," Danny warned quickly. "Not lethal, but very, very painful. I'd appreciate it if you avoided force."

"Okay, so how do I-" he cut off as he felt an agonizing yet familiar pain course through his body. He collapsed to his knees, watching as his skin glowed orange as the nanobots in his bloodstream killed him from the inside. He clutched weakly at his arms, and curled up on the floor.

Danny, who was watching this scene, sat in horror as the silly kid he'd come to know started moaning in pain and curl up on the floor.

"Beastboy? BEASTBOY!" he shouted, though not very loud. He took a glance at his cuffs, then at Beastboy. God, this was going to hurt.

He gave a mighty pull at the cuffs, ignoring the shocks at his ankle as he seeped into his ghost strength. The cuffs gave, and he sent them flying off the wall. He had about half a second to enjoy his newfound freedom when the whole room was filled with blood-blossom mist.

His eyes burned. His skin burned. His mouth and tongue burned. Heck, he could swear he felt his hair burn in pain.

He could still hear Beastboy whimpering though, and that came first.

Danny wasn't exactly sure how he'd managed it; he believe it was almost like he was on autopilot, where his brain just kind of shut off and he followed through with dragging the green kid out of the room.

He walked down the hallway with Beastboy's arm over his neck. He was vaguely aware that his body was glowing red slightly, but he really didn't care. He made it about three steps and he fell over.

Danny fought with unconsciousness, knowing he had to get Beastboy to safety. Not that he knew where that was.

Though his half-lidded, bloodshot eyes, he saw a non-glowing Beastboy sit up and start to shake him. Danny knew he was saying that he needed to get up, and he complied. Then fell to the ground again, unable to keep his eyes open.

Beastboy, who was now the one supporting Danny, tried to walk quickly out of the hallway. Then he slapped his forehead and simply transformed into a gorilla and gently slung Danny over his shoulder. Then he set off, toward his friends and team who were fighting Slade with Robin.

The first thing Danny was aware of was his breathing. For once, in the entirety of the week and a half (he hadn't known for sure how long) he had been at Slade's mercy, his breathing wasn't as labored. In fact, it was easy and steady.

Then he felt the soft mattress and sheets beneath him, with a soft and thick blanket covering his chest. He heard a beeping to his right: a heart monitor? Then he wasn't in Slade's torture chamber then...

He opened his eyes. His vision was blurry, but he could make out the distinct look of a hospital room. Plain white walls, with heaps of technology and the antiseptic smell.

As his vision cleared, he noticed he couldn't feel one of his feet. This should have worried him, but after being electrified there so many times it really didn't surprise him. He just hoped he'd still be able to walk on it.

He sat up slowly, noting the familiar rawness of his skin. It looked fine, but it felt as if he'd been scraped by sandpaper all over. Freaking acid mist.

Danny looked around the room, wondering how long he had to wait until someone came in. He couldn't stand; his foot probably wouldn't like it and he was still all too sore.

He waited in that position for about five minutes when Raven came in.

"You're awake," she said as she sat down on a chair beside his bed. "You slept for a long time. Doesn't surprise me though."

"...A-am I in the hospital?" he said, coughing. His throat was really dry.

"No," she said. "You're in the Titans Tower, in the medical bay. We figured that you wouldn't...well, seeing as you don't seem to like people knowing your status as a meta, we didn't think you would like to be at a hospital."

"Thanks," he said. "...You think I'm a meta?" The question wasn't harsh, he was really just curious.

"...Yes," she said after pausing. She looked at him kind of funny, arching her eyebrow.

"God, she looks like Sam," he thought as he looked at Raven. He hood was down, leaving her light gray face and cropped indigo hair exposed. He knew they had the same eyes...but he didn't know they were practically twins.

An ache he had come to know very well over the past few months since the explosion raged through his chest. He looked away from Raven, his overgrown hair falling in his face.

"I'm going to bring Robin," she said softly. She got up from the chair and walked toward the door.

"Wait, so...Robin's not working for Slade?" He probably sounded a little stupid to her, but, hey, he needed some clarification here.

Her mouth twitched in a corner, then she said, "No. He had us all hostage with nanoscopic probes that could kill us whenever he wanted. And...he had you prisoner, as well."

Ah. That makes sense. So he didn't have to slap some sense into him after all.

"Oh. Yeah, okay."

When Raven came back with Robin, who was thankfully back in his traffic light costume, he breathed a sigh of relief.

"Hey. How are you feeling?" Robin said.

"I'm pretty sore, and I can't really feel my foot, but other than that I'm pretty good," he said as he grinned tiredly.

"...Sorry."

Danny almost did a double take. Robin was apologizing? A sincere one? Damn…

"What for? It's not like you were the one torturing me. It was Slade."

"Yeah, but...I saw you there, and I couldn't...didn't, help you. I should've…" he trailed off.

"Alright, traffic light," he said. Robin sent him a half-hearted glare. "I take it you're one of those people who beats themselves up over a mistake. Hey, just let it go. Besides, your friends were being held hostage, and I'm here now, aren't I?"

When Robin said nothing, Danny sighed and lay back down on the bed. "To think, I left home to have a more peaceful and non-exciting life. I have the worst luck in the world." The words were rueful, but his tone made it sound almost grateful.

Robin shook his head, but smiled. They had both been through a lot these few days, but they would recover. And the next time Slade showed up, they would take him down.

Humiliating. How humiliating.

Beaten by a bunch of teenagers-children. And on top of all that, he lost the perfect apprentice, and an enigmatic ghostly powerhouse. He even was almost unmasked…

Slade gripped the armrests of his chair tightly. He had to fix this. He could not let them get away with this. But how to take revenge…?

His mind prickled as he remembered the searches for the freak teen he had prisoner. One from Vlad Masters, looking for his human half, and the other…

He smirked. He would have to have a talk with the G.I.W. …

Whoa man. Two updates in two days? I must be crazy.

Anyway, this is the last chapter of this arc. Well, this story might be too short to have arcs, but its still the end of the arc. Not the story, just the arc.

I'm going to be prewriting the next few chapters first so I don't make a mistake like I did before with waiting four months between updates. I figured you didn't like that too much, so I'll try not to do it again.

I hope you enjoyed this chapter. I changed a few things, like with Beastboy coming in to scout and meeting with Robin instead of coming in with the rest of the team. I needed someone to get Danny out, and...well, I just love BB!

Earlier on, like, waaayyy earlier on, I mentioned I might have a pairing. I've decided that I'm not going to focus on any sort of romance pairing, but only friendship. When I finish the story, I might have some separate one-shots in this universe related, but only maybe.

So, like I've said before, if you have any critiques you'd like to share, don't be afraid to tell me. And if you think flames are critiques, go ahead and write them too.

Until next time.
