Yesterday was just as bad as the day before with everyone squawking at me. It's getting rather annoying. Black looked at me with that triumphant, superior smirk of his in class and I calmly congratulated him on his spell's success. He was very confused. He seemed to be trying to figure out how I was insulting him. Let him wonder. It truly was a nice bit of work.
I probably shouldn't be encouraging him though. He's already wracked up so many detentions he may never have a Saturday free all year. His friends are just as bad. Yesterday they pranked the Slytherin table at breakfast. They all turned bright red and roared like lions throughout the morning. Professor Slughorn and McGonagle tried to reverse it but they had to let it wear itself out. Classes were frequently disrupted with roaring as the students tried to answer. It was a bit distracting. I do wish their pranks were less disruptive to my education.
Today though, people were still laughing over the Slytherin's troubles and seem to have forgotten all about the Gryffindor Chicken. I can only be grateful I suppose.
Tomorrow is the Gryffindor Quidditch tryouts. I'm excited to see the team in action for the first time. Alice's brothers are on the team as Beaters. I've been reading about the sport since my conversation with the boys on the train and I can't wait to be back on a broomstick. Everyone says that first years never make the house team and I can't even try out. But Potter and Black are going to be right in the middle of it all. They are determined to do what everyone says is impossible. Possibly for that reason alone.
Lily thinks I'm crazy for being so into it all and she is downright annoyed at the boys and their antics. They are rather obnoxious about it. Potter went on and on about his aspirations of being the greatest Chaser of all time. He can be quite the prat.
Remus just shakes his head and continues to come to me for help with his spells. I don't mind, I kind of like helping him. It's a different perspective than when I do things on my own. He wants to come to our study session before dinner but I don't want the rest of his friends there annoying me. They interrupt enough of my learning without letting them intrude on my study time as well. He understands and said he will only come if he can shake them first. If they show up and annoy me they are all banned for life.
I may even be able to get Madame Pince in on that. They've disrupted her library often enough without provocation, if they intentionally come in and cause mayhem because I study with a Slytherin, she may have them permanently barred from my favorite place. That would be heavenly. A guaranteed refuge.
I'm rambling again. Sorry.
I'm not sure who I'm apologizing to exactly. No one will ever read this. Besides, I'm used to the way my mind works. Nothing is ever in a straight line.
Back to the Quidditch tryouts. I'm so excited to see people actually flying! And then there's the game itself. I've read the books on it. Quidditch Through The Ages is absolutely fascinating. I'm amazed the sport is still around, there were so many fatalities throughout the early years. I wish, more than anything, that I could play. Maybe I can convince Lily to at least go flying with me...I bet I could find a charm to keep her from falling. That might get her up in the air. How did I end up with a friend who is terrified of flying? That's all I've ever wanted, really. In the simplest terms of want.
I have to go now or I'll never make any sense ever again. I want to be up early for the tryouts tomorrow so I'll write afterwards!
