Chapter Fourteen: The Article and the Backlash

The next few days after the trial were some of the best of Harry's life, he had the company of his parents and his grandparetns, was in the company of his beautiful wife on a daily basis and was doing better in hislessons than he had done during the start of the term. That was until he saw the Daily Prophet four days after the trial.

Harry Potter seizes control of the Wizengamot and overthrows Dumbledore

It seems that Harry Potter has struck again. In a surprise move, Lord Potter took control of the Wizengamot after claiming his ancestral seats, namely being the seats of the founders. After showing memories from a phoenix, and his own memories from the sorting feast earlier this term at Hogwarts, he made a motion to the Wizengamot to completely abolish the Muggleborn Marriage Law. This was met with an overwhelming vote to do just that, and the MML was abolished and striken from the books. This law has been in effect since before the Statute of Secrecy.

Once this was taken care of, Lord Potter made a motion to charge Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore with interferring with a students personal life and attempted murder of two students when he tried to break the soulbond that Lord Potter had formed with the Muggleborn witch Hermione Granger. . Everyone who has read up on soulbonds do realise that to break one would kill the bondmates. This motion was met with an overwhelming majority, to charge the old Headmaster with those two charges.

In another surprising motion, Lord Potter motioned to remove the old man from the Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot. He nominated his mother, who was dead for over a decade, and has somehow come back with her husband. Lord Potter's nomination was met with again a landslide majority to approve the motion.

This was not the biggest of the surprises that Lord Potter sprung on the Wizengamot and the Ministry however. He presented a young lady in the visitors gallery, and introduced her as Lady Hogwarts. This young lady, then proceeded to explain that she was the manifestation of Hogwarts Castle, saying that over the last thousand years the thousands of students that are in the castle over the last few centuries, allowed her to create what can only be described as a body for the castle since it is permeated with the magic of immature and underage witches and wizards, year after year. To top this after the former Chief Warlock's outburst saying that Potter could not take the seats, since the Hogwarts founders had somehow returned, the courtroom doors burst open and the four founders themselves strode in declining their seats on the Wizengamot Council and giving them to their heir, Harry Potter.

This author wonders whether or not the changes made to the law and the council of the Wizengamot are for everybody's good. Harry Potter seems to have let this go to his head in terms of power. He has gotten his way this time and as he owns Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry can we expect that he will only attempt to make this go further consolidating his power? Is he another Dark Lord in the Making? Will he try and replace He-Who-Must- Not-Be-Named? Only time will tell.

Hermione slammed down the Daily Prophet onto the Gryffindor Table. "That horrible woman, the next Dark Lord, Harry? That idea is laughable. There is no way he would. He has seen what killing for power does to people's families. It has done it to his own family. She stormed from the Gryffindor Table, up to the High Table and stood in front of Professor McGonagall.

"What are we going to do about this article?" the last parts of it weren't even true. Harry the next Dark Lord, what rubbish How can she write this?" she demanded of the Headmistress.

"How Harry handes this article is up to him, being a Potter he does own a fair bit of the Daily Prophet. Theoretically he could have her fired. But I think it wiser that he simply amswer the accusations with a statement of his own made through his office at the ministry. As a member of the Wizengamot, he hold a office for that type of business over at the Ministry. Do not worry about this, we have informed him of his options already. I know as his wife this does worry you, but I assure you that in the next few days he will draft a statement for his office to release and since he is in school it is his father that is handling all of the business of the wizengamot for Harry. Neither James or Lily will let this go on for much longer, I promise. Now go and finish eating," Professor McGonagall told her.

Huffing her displeasure, she strode back to the Gryffindor Table. She could see the backlash he would get for introducing Lady Hogwarts. Yes, she was definitely sure that her husband had not heard the last of the backlash from this. He was going to be extremely busy of this she was absolutely sure.

She decided to wait for Harry to confide in her what his plans were for dealing with this.

What she hadn't counted on was that Harry would take several weeks to not only recover from this unexpected political backlash, but that it would take several weeks for him to even trust her enough to confide in her what he was going to do about said backlash.

Her final thoughts as she went with Ron and Harry to Charms was how stupid it was to have an eleven year old playing the game of politics.

What she wasn't aware of was that this political game had only just begun for Harry Potter and his family. If she had been she might not have been as happy to be his wife . She knew that she would support his decisions whatever they may be. She only hoped that she could keep that promise….

Politics…..The most unecessary thing in the wizarding world, could it possibly save her and her husband. Only time would tell and that was one thing that neither of them really had much of. Patience would be tested as would loyalties in the next few years, Though nobody knew it yet…

A/N: I know this chapter isn't what you guys were expecting, and I know it is not my best by any means, but I felt that we needed to see Hermione's reaction to the article. Read and Review please and sorry for the length I know it is really short, but I needed Hermione's point of view, I hope you like it.
