Lance tried to stand only to found herself unable to support herself and several hands reached out to catch her and ease her back onto the bed. "Maybe you should rest here for a while" Keith suggested
"No," Lance stated firmly.
"Lance, you can't even stand on your own" Pidge pointed out. Lance shook her head hair flying around her. Lance tried to stand again, Keith grasping her elbow to help support her. Lance's legs gave out and Keith found himself catching her again. Lance looked up at her boyfriend knowing what he was about to say when she saw the sadness the glittered there.
Lance pressed her lips into a thin line. "Lance…"
"Someone carry me then" Lance huffed. Everyone gave her a strange look to where she now sat on the bed again.
"Are you sure Lance?" Shiro asked
"You can rest up here, you're safe here" Keith added.
"I don't think I can handle being around Galra right now" Lance whispered. "I'll rest at the castle, Promise"
"You won't be alone here, we don't want you to hurt yourself" Hunk suggested. Keith just swept Lance into his arms and the blue paladin wrapped her arms around his neck.
"If she's agitated even in the slightest she's hardly going to be able to rest" Keith pointed out "She can relax at the castle of lions so we'll take her there, but Allura will have to pilot the blue lion" Keith marched out with Lance in his arms.
The other followed behind him "We only have another varga until it's safe for us to leave" Pidge said. Keith nodded and once they reached their lions Lance smiled.
"Keith, did you really spend this entire time looking for me?" Lance asked. Keith looked down at her as he climbed up into his lion.
"Of course, I did" Keith scoffed. Once they were in the lion, Keith set her onto one of the seats in the back of the lion.
"Keith, you should take care of yourself" Lance sighed
"I couldn't, Lana, not while they were doing god knows what to you" Keith growled. "I love you, Lana, you mean everything to me." Keith whispered. Lance pressed their foreheads together with a soft smile.
"I love you too Keith" Lance whispered, "Thank you Keith, for making me feel special"
"And I will do it again and again until you know that you are" Keith kissed her then softly, sweetly letting her feel just how loved she was. "Sleep, Lana, I'll carry you to our room when we land so just sleep"
Lana "Lance" McClain
After a few days' rest, the child that was still in the lion was put with the rest and Lana was now able to walk on her own but was under strict supervision of either Keith, Allura or Hunk. If Keith was training she either watched or She sat around being amused by the others, when Voltron was needed Allura took blue and Lance helped Coran on the bridge as long as it wasn't too much. And as much as Lance loved Keith, his over protectiveness was starting to get to her.
"I hate this" Lance groaned. Today she was being watched by Shiro while Keith was training with Allura and Hunk was helping Pidge with some tech.
"It won't be forever" Shiro assured
"It's been a week" Lance growled
"You were gone a week" Shiro argued "Just a few more days, Lance, take the break, just to be safe" Lance clammed up immediately snuggling back into the pile of blankets she had around herself. He was right, I mean there was no need for her to be back just yet, they were fine with Allura piloting the blue lion, she wasn't needed then.
Or maybe she never was needed to begin with. Maybe she was only good enough for support. She had no other qualities. "I want to at least start training again, I don't want to be coddled this is war we don't have time for it"
"Not this again"
"I feel useless, Shiro," Lance growled standing, her posture defensive.
"Lance, you were badly hurt, your recovering" Shiro sighed
"I am fine" Lance bit out. Keith entered seeing Lance's angry face, eyes glaring at Shiro
"What's going on?" Keith asked sceptically. Lance just stormed away brushing past Keith not even looking at him. "Lance!" Keith turned to Shiro "What did you do?"
"She wanted to start training, she didn't like that I suggested she rest for another couple of days" Shiro answered. Keith turned to follow after his girlfriend "Keith! Maybe we should start her training again"
"Not until Coran gives the all clear" Keith growled. Keith managed to find Lance in what was once his room, now their shared room. What he wasn't expecting was Lance to throw a pillow at him the second he walked in.
"I don't need supervision" Lance sulked. Keith huffed at her, then moved to sit cross legged on the bed beside her setting the pillow behind him and dragging the blanket out from underneath him then placed Lance onto his lap and finished wrapping the blankets around his shoulders, cocooning Lance.
Lance wanted to fight him, but she loved the warmth. She knew that he couldn't help how he was reacting. He'd been orphan most of his life, his mother left only to turn up again recently, his father died and aside from Shiro who was like a brother to him he had no one before he joined Voltron.
Lance just snuggled into him, knowing her insecurities about her place on the team were unfounded and Keith just wanted her safe. She couldn't be mad about that "Lance" Keith sighed "If you promise to rest for two more days and then Coran double check there is nothing wrong and it comes back all clear… I promise you can go back to the blue lion"
Keith felt all the worry disappear when a smile lit her face and she nodded vigorously.
