I was a little late in writing Marked so hence, the late update. Anyway, enjoy!
3rd Person-
"Gabe!" Thalia screamed, pushing her hands against the arms securely wrapped around her.
"Let go of me," She sobbed, fighting the man whose grip was too strong for her state of strength.
"Princess," He drawled, laughing as he twisted them around so that he was on top of her, "You believe me, right?"
She glared at him, hatred surging through every vein in her body. "No," She spat, looking at him dead in the eyes.
He stared back at her, chuckling a tainted anger clear in his eyes. "It's true, Princess. I found them."
She sucked in her breath, biting her lip so that she didn't scream, and turned her head away from him. Thalia didn't want him to see her crying, figuring that it would only upset him further than she knew he already was inside.
"I don't believe you."
"Oh?" Gabe laughed under his breath, "And why is that?" His hand was firm on her shoulder, painfully pining her down.
She fought the urge to yelp in pain, knowing that she was strong enough to let it not bother her. Catching her breath as her heart rate sped, she knotted her hands into the comforter. "You took those pictures without our consent. If you had 'found' them or gotten them from Beryl, we would've posed for the picture. Beryl and I were on a playground, playing. We didn't know anybody was taking a picture."
"You've done so many things to me, so many things to Beryl, and maybe she's blinded by your facade, but I'm not. If you want the secrets you're hiding to stay secret, then you're going to have to stay away from me; otherwise, I spill everything." Thalia swallowed the lump of fear caught in her throat. Had she just warned Gabe? She couldn't believe it.
Gabe was taken aback, the shock tenfold on his dace, and he stared at her as if he was trying to figure out what had just happened. Swiftly, he lowered himself on her, his face mere inches from hers and his body squeezed the breath out of the girl. He laughed viciously, the venom in his laughter creeping its way eerily into her ears. He brushed a finger across her cheek, practically purring.
"Was that a threat, Princess?" His cold voice sang, chilling Thalia's bones.
She kept eye contact, trying to hide her fear, even though she knew he could sense it. They were so close to each other, closer than Thalia ever wanted to be.
"If that's what you perceive it as then yes. It was a threat." Thalia hissed, glad that even though her body was shutting down she could still defend herself by appearing brave.
"I don't think you're in the position to be the one making threats, Thalia." Her step father informed her. He sounded more like his normal self again, upset/ His hands slid down her face, down to her neck, and stopped, pressing the fingers between the skin and bone.
Thalia didn't cry out, didn't scream, only shut her eyes and choked back the tears. She didn't want to let Gabe have that kind of power of her anymore; instead, she wanted to be the strong one, the girl who saved herself. Only, she knew that wasn't as easy to find as she hoped.
Gabe's other hand-the one that had been on her shoulder-traveled down her arm and grabbed a hold of her chest right where he had cut her the night before. He knew he was hurting her; but he fed off that pain and misery, suffocating and terrorizing her with it. He loved it, the satisfaction of tormenting and keeping her under his control, and he knew that he could make it continue.
Pushing hard on her chest and neck, Gabe kept his devilish eyes on her. Thalia shifted uncomfortably under the weight of his body, flailing and screaming on the inside. She wanted so badly to cry out, the pain and humiliation strongly enveloping her.
"If you want to make threats with me, prepare for a whole lot of misfortune. I wouldn't want to see what happened with Beryl years ago to happen to you know...in a different way of course." He growled, the anger vivid in his ragged breath. He crushed her then, pushing his lips against hers as his body slammed into hers.
Pain flared across her wounds as his body pressed down on hers. She screamed around his lips, trying to pulling away as quickly as possible; but he was quicker, and his hands were suddenly at the sides of her face, forcing her to kiss him. Thalia was disgusted, ashamed, and utterly furious about it. She pushed on him, squirming from underneath him, and cried out, the screams muffled by his lips.
Finally, Gabe broke away from her lips, pulling himself away from her. His chest was heaving, for reasons Thalia was terrified of, and he looked excruciatingly satisfied. His lips tipped into a smirk at the corners of his mouth, and he made a sound she could only guess was laughter.
Thalia was in absolute shock, breathing heavy from her panic, as she stared at him, eyes wide and fearful. She felt absolutely sick to her core, disgusted with the guiltiness and horror of it all. She pushed herself back, so quickly and far that she almost fell off the side of the bed.
"Gabe," she breathed, trying to tell him off or something, but it only came out choked and fearful. She tried again, "Gabe, don't touch me." Thalia trembled as she watched him advance a bit forward towards her again. She spun herself off the bed instinctively, putting her hands in front of her to ward him off, the pain numbed by her apprehension.
Gabe smiled at her, back to his normal disturbing self; only this time, he had crossed the line kissing her. He didn't look sorry or even close to it, he only looked satisfied and as if he desired more.
"Thalia, I told you not to tell me what to do, or not do, in this situation. You're so beautiful, come here," he said venomously, reaching his arm out as he moved towards her.
The girl jumped back. looking to the door and back to him, then at the door again. She deliberated on whether she felt confident enough to make it there or not, deciding that she had no other choice. Thalia took a quick breath, lunged away from him, and ran for the bedroom door. She didn't look back, only ran as fast as she could out of the room and down the stairs, bounding for the front door. The lock was bolted shut and she scrambled to open it, gasping for breath as the fear of not making it out in time clasped down on her lungs.
Thalia threw the door open as she heard footsteps racing down the staircase and sprinted for the outdoors; only, a hand clamped around her arm and pulled her back inside. She let out a scream as he wrapped his arms around her, trapping her.
"Let go of me, Gabe!" She shrieked, thrashing around as he roughly dragged her into the kitchen. He tossed onto a stool and grabbed her wrists, bending down right next to her face. She was crying, he saw, and that only encouraged him to do what he was about to even more.
"I told you, Thalia, I'm the one in control here." He sneered, closing the distance between them drastically.
The teen spat in his face, her eyebrows furrowing in anger.
"Filth," She hissed, "that's all you are, Gabe. Disgusting filth."
He laughed at her; although, there was something behind it, an uncertainty. He wiped his free hand quickly over his face, laughing with distaste, and tilted his head to the side as he gave her innocent eyes, feigning innocence.
"What could you possibly be talking about?" He asked her.
Thalia scoffed, anger flaring inside of her. "You kissed me, y-you psychotic monster!" She shrieked in outrage, tugging at the strong grip around her wrists. "Let-go-of-me!"
"Are you going to stay put?" He seemed as if he was trying to negotiate with her. "If you run away, or talk about our precious secrets, you're going to wish the only thing I will do to you is kiss you." He whispered, brushing his lips over hers causing her body to squirm.
Thalia couldn't believe it. Her mouth stayed intact, but it threatened to drop open, gaping. She wanted to slap him, but she couldn't break out of his grasp. A wave of fear washed over her, making her to want to cover away; to find a way out. Even though Thalia wasn't sure that he was going to through with his threat, she knew that she wouldn't want to risk it. She squeezed her eyes shut, trying to picture herself somewhere else far way and clear from him, somewhere that she knew she was safe. Wishing she was with Percy.
"Please," she begged, tears spilling out of her eyes. "Let me go, I won't run. I promise." She opened her eyes as he let go her wrists and stepped away from her. Painfully, Thalia calmed herself, watching as he went around the island counter, getting two glasses of water.
Her nerves hitched up a couple notches every time he stepped near her. "Here, drink this. You should get something in your system." He told her, his once angry voice inflicted with shaky concern.
Thalia took the glass from Gabe carefully, watching him intently to make sure that he didn't try to touch her again. Gabe touching her was worse than anything Luke had done to her, it always felt more wrong and unhealthy. She had to find a way to escape his destructive hold on her. Despite Thalia's feelings on disgust, she forced a tight smile and thanked him.
The moment the cold liquid washed down her throat, she tasted something sour and repulsive. She gagged, coughing as she brought the glass away from her lips. Without warning, she felt sick and dizzy, almost as if what she had just put into her body was not water. Or at least, not only water. Fog clouded Thalia's vision and her lips quivered as the room started spinning. There was a painful ringing in her ears and she couldn't concentrate on anything.
Her heart thumped against her chest, pounding so hard she thought it might explode. Thalia tried to look at her step father but her vision was fading and she couldn't see him. Her stomach tightened and she doubled over, wincing.
"What did you do to me?" She whispered, her breath leaving her.
Gabe set a hand on her shoulder and grinned, saying, "You need some more rest, Princess." There was a cold pleasure within his voice and if Thalia had really heard him, she would've panicked. Sleep was taking over her, carrying her away. She rolled over the edge of the stool, falling into the arms of the man. She was out.
"Sleep well," was the only thing Gabe said as he stroked her hair away from her face and smiled at her.
The bedroom was bright, illuminated by the sunlight streaming in through the windows. Thalia Grace fluttered her eyes open, a yawn escaping her lips as she rubbed at her sleepy eyes. The heat of the sunlight hitting the sheets warmed her, keeping the cold away. All too suddenly, Thalia remembered what had happened and realized that it was already the next morning. This begged the question: What could have Gabe given her? She had been out for tweleve hours.
Digging the palms of her hands against the bed, she pushed herself up and took a deep breath, the room slightly spinning from wither too much sleep or just the dose of whatever Gabe had drugged her with. Gabe had drugged her. She still didn't want to believe that he could do something like that. Thalia only hoped that nothing happened while she was put.
A pulsing fire blazed in her head, creating one of the loudest and most painful headaches she had ever experinced.
I'm so dead, she thought, if Gabe could do that to me easily what else is he capable of doing? Anything?
Behind Thalia's eyelids visions of horrifying images flashed, causing her heartbeat to rapidly slam itself against her chest. She scrambled off the bed, tossing the sheet away, and wobbled over to the bathroom.
Her head throbbed as a side effect of whatever he had drugged her with and the room slowly spun around as she attempted to climb into the tub for a shower.
After finishing her shower and getting ready, Thalia stood in front of the mirror; desperately trying to find herself in it. Although, she seemed to feel as though she couldn't to it, all Thalia saw was a girl falling apart with weary eyes and scarred cheeks. She brushed a hand over her cheek and then down to her lips, remembering the sour pang of distaste that accompanied Gabe's hard lips the day before. Thalia hated it-every single part of it. Not only was it uncomfortable and disturbing, but it felt too wrong and painful, a pure violation of standards. Hiding something like that was going to be harder than all of the violation she had already taken by him. It was wrong.
A knock on the door snapped Thalia out of her thoughts, breaking the calm silence with an erratic banging.
"Thalia?" Gabe's voice was cold yet warm, contradicting itself with a confusing amount of both. "How are you feeling?" Those words were enough to inflame a nerve of anger and disgust in Thalia's body, carrying her as far away from the door as possible.
Thalia looked at the rattling doorknob hoping that he wouldn't find a way to somehow break through it. Part of her knew that he could do it if wanted but the other part, a stronger one, believed that he wouldn't. Sliding down to the ground against the wall, Thalia curled up into a ball, hugging her knees against her chest.
"Go away, Gabe. I'm not talking to you. I can't." Thalia felt like she should've stopped him; maybe pushed him away before he kissed her, or broke free and ran long before it had happened; but how that seemed impossible is what angered her the most. Gabe's oppressing power over her. His force; his nature; and his powerful ability to take make into his own hands could change everything she felt or knew. He always knew what to do to keep her in his trap of the deceitful and dark game-a misfortune all to unreal.
"Come one now, Princess; don't be that way. You are talking to me. Maybe you don't want to talk to me now, but sooner or later, I will get you to talk to me." He told her. Another threat to add to the long list of horror he had already created.
"Please, Gabe. Don't."
He chuckled from the other side of the door, a low laughter that repeated over and over again in her ears. "I'm not going to hurt you Thalia. Just tell me how you're feeling and I will leave you be for the day."
Thalia hardly believed the words that sang out to her ears: leave you be for the day. Could he have meant it?
"I'm doing just fine." The teen replied plainly. Finding a little courage, she stood up and walked towards the door as her heart slowed its racing. "Gabe?" Thalia whispered as she leaned her head against the door.
Gabe dropped his hand away from the doorknob and it shook in abandonment. "Yes, Princess?"
Despite how strongly Thalia felt against him, she felt the urge to figure something out-she needed to know the truth. "What did you do to me yesterday? The drug-it...hurt."
"I just gave you something for a better sleep. It was obvious that you needed sleep; you were acting a little freakish and squeamish-both things you don't need act. I'm sorry that you didn't take to it well, but I have a job to get to now."
Thalia couldn't help not believing him. The girl knew that she had every right to act the way she had; his violation had gone too far. "Where are you going?" She asked, pressing her ear against the door.
"Just as I said: I'm going to work, Princess. We will meet again tonight. Goodbye, Thalia." He answered. And after he said it, Thalia knew it was true-and that terrified her. She didn't want to "meet" with him again; she wanted to be away from him. Thalia has never been or felt safe around him.
Gabe was leaving for a good enough amount of time that she could get out of the house and finally feel free again. She could be with Percy-the only person that kept appearing in her mind, over and over again, besides Gabe. Thalia didn't want to think about Gabe though; he was out of the picture for the day. Beryl would be home soon enough too.
Wrapping her arms securely around herself, she walked out of the bathroom cautiously, being sure to check if Gabe was anywhere to be seen. Finding a small glimmer of hope, Thalia walked down the staircase. She hurried out of the house after grabbing her purse from the closet then ran down the streets.
Phone in hand, she called Percy to see what the deal was with the beach, discovering that he was ready to give her a ride at any time. They ended the call after Thalia told him where she was and that she would need the ride. She was sitting under the tree in the park, trying to keep Gabe out of her head.
"Hey," Percy's voice sang above her head.
Thalia looked up and smiled, instantly taken away from all of the worry and troubling thoughts. "Hey yourself."
"Ready to go?" He asked, grinning down at her.
"I am."
He held out his hand for her and laughed, "Come on then, we've got to get there before Rachel and Nic."
Rachel and Nico; the two names she didn't want to hear together like that, ever.
"Nico is really going to be there?" She questioned, feeling a pang of uncomfortable weariness.
"Of course he is. Do you not want him to be?"
"Percy, he told me to stay away from you; I doubt he will be happy to see me again." Her voice was quiet and careful but also begging him for an answer.
"I talked to him about us and he's going to forget about it, okay? We're going to be okay, Thalia. I want you to be happy and that's all that matters. No one can tear us away from each other." Percy smiled lopsidedly, the words graciously flowing from his soft lips.
Us. The word Thalia had wanted to relate perfectly for them since the day they first met. She knew that she loved him, her feelings were too strong and oppressing to be hidden, but she also knew that she had been clinging to him because of Luke and Gabe; she needed to see Percy for Percy-no one else. "Okay." was all she say to that.
Percy pulled her into him and embraced her, the hug so gentle and careful that Thalia thought it was too good to be true.
"Come on." Percy said as he led her back to his car, his arm around her waist as she leaned her head on his shoulder.
A/N-Next chapter will be 'lighter' chapter. As light as a dark, messed up story can be, of course. When I'm writing this fic, I just stare at the blank document and think to myself-what could go wrong? Then I write it. I know, I'm a terrible person but you guys love me. I hope.
