Valentines Day Blues
Chapter 14 – Freaking Out
Oh. My. Merlin. Oh my Merlin. Oh my, Oh.
Roses mind was a swirling pool of thoughts, but it was moving so fast that comprehension of these thoughts was physically impossible. The only thing that she was actually aware of was the fact that she and Scorpius had kissed. They had kissed, like actually. Physically. Together.
The alarm went off on her bedside table, but it was a dull buzzing that seemed so far away. She wasn't sure if she had slept at all the night before, her thoughts and dreams had been constantly the same. Time after time waking and sleeping reliving that momentous event.
Rose couldn't decide if she was happy or horrified. She had certainly given the latter impression when she had fled the common room the night before as soon as she had regained her senses. She had originally felt so elated, so happy that obviously Scorpius returned her feelings but then, reality had kicked in and she realised that she did not only belong to Scorpius, but she had a duty, an obligation to her Admirer to try and remain impartial and available and kissing his next biggest rival was not the right way to go about it.
Rose sighed as the buzzing got to the point of complete and utter annoyance and she sat up, reaching out and shutting it off. She knew that she had to get up, she knew that the world couldn't just let the world stop because of one stupid, wonderful, mistake. Sighing again, Rose swung herself out of bed and then froze at the envelope and small package on her bedside table.
She must have fallen asleep, if someone was able to sneak into her room and put this on her bedside table, she must have been in a deep, deep sleep. Reaching out slowly, almost fearfully she turned over the envelope and saw her name in the familiar slanting script that she had grown used to.
Rose,
This is for your rushed mornings, when you don't have much time. It's enchanted, go ahead, try it out. Just think about what you want and it will all be perfect.
I promise
Love,
Your Secret Admirer
Rose couldn't help but notice the clipped tone of this letter, the cold feel to it and she wasn't sure what was going on, it was almost as if he knew. As if he knew that she had betrayed him. But how could he know? No one knew. It had been the two of them, totally alone. But then again, he was always sneaking around, always managing to get her presents into her room without her knowing, always knowing just what to get her.
Rose felt an involuntary shiver race down her spine as she realised just how creepy this guy sounded, but she soon shook it off, this was Hogwarts and it was just a boy, trying his best to make her feel better after a horrible situation and she had betrayed him.
Hang on a second, she had betrayed him? But how? It wasn't her fault that he chose to keep his identity a secret; wouldn't he only do that if there was something keeping them from actually being together, so what was the point in waiting for him? Or at least what was the point in being upset for having feelings like everyone else. No this wasn't all her fault, it was partly his for not having the bravery to come and face her.
Well at least she knew that he wasn't a Gryffindor.
Time was ticking she realised and unfortunately she did have a lesson first so she needed to make sure she got breakfast. She rushed around getting dressed and then stopped in front of the mirror and her eyes widened in horror. Her hair! Look at it, it was a frizzy ball of mess! It was going to take hours to brush it.
Her eyes searched the room frantically looking for a hairbrush, or even some sleakeazy. Anything! And then her eyes fell on the package that still lay innocently on her bedside table and she remembered the words from the letter. Opening it she found a hair slide in the shape of a comb, confused she slid it into her hair, thinking of a messy cute bun. Her hair suddenly felt absolutely artic and alarmed she looked into the mirror and her mouth dropped open. Her hair was perfect.
Merlin this was the most incredible invention in the history of the world. But she didn't have time to marvel over it. Rose grabbed her bag and ran out the door, heading for breakfast.

Rose hadn't seen Scorpius all day, he hadn't been in their common room, and he hadn't been at any of the meals, after her last lesson of the day Rose headed, as she usually did to the library, not expecting anyone to come after her this time. She headed to the back, hoping to hide herself deep within the shelves so that even if someone did want to find her they certainly wouldn't be able to.
Rose found a secluded table and sat down spreading her things around her on the table and set to work, but as soon as she had finished the first line an annoying, grating sound reached her ears that made her teeth grind.
"Scorpy! Scorpy where are you! I know you're in here!"
Parkinson. Rose shuddered in barely concealed anger hoping against hope that the annoying, peppy little brat would go away and go away quickly. But the noise only seemed to get louder, as she got closer. But then she stopped as another voice sounded.
"I'm over here"
Rose nearly had a heart attack, Scorpius, it was Scorpius and he was nearby, what was she drawn to him like a moth to a flame. But more than that, Scorpius had welcomed her over, he had always said that he hated Parkinson just as much as she did, but what now? Now he wanted to have the little slag next to him?
Rose tried her hardest to ignore the fact and go back to her work, she couldn't hear them talking, just the occasional bleat of laughter from her. She managed to hold it together and get half of her potions essay completed before the tension, before the curiosity became too much.
Last night Scorpius had kissed her. Her. And now, not only had he avoided her all day but he was welcoming the company of one of the biggest and most annoying slags in the history of the earth. Was she really that revolting that he had to go and get with the complete and utter opposite as soon as was humanly possible.
She peered round the corner of the bookshelf, watching the scene.

Scorpius had started his day in much the same way Rose had, utter and complete confusion. He was so very happy that finally he had had the pleasure and the privilege to actually kiss her, but the fact that she had run away from him afterwards, well that sort of sent mixed signals. What did she want?
He had went through his day doing his best to avoid her whilst still secretly watching her from afar. Not wanting to annoy her, or pressure her, or drive her further away. Of course that had meant keeping a low profile so whilst he had been sneaking; he'd had to keep the biggest mouth in all of Hogwarts from shouting his name every few seconds.
This is how he found himself now, sat with Parkinson at the back of the library with Rose only a few shelves away. He really had thought that going into the library would be the easiest way to make sure that she didn't follow him, as it seemed that she was allergic to books. But no. Now she sat across the table from him, inching ever closer, giggling and flipping her hair whilst all he really wanted to do was read quietly.
"Look," he said eventually when she was almost sat in his lap. "Why don't you go back to the Slytherin common room and I will follow you once I've tidied everything away and then we can have some real fun"
Luckily for him she grinned seductively, planted one disgusting kiss on his mouth and walked away trying to sway her hips to look attractive but it really wasn't.
Scorpius didn't see the flash of red running back through the bookshelves with a gasp.

Rose fled to the common room, and then straight up the stairs to her bedroom, she had no doubt that she wouldn't see Scorpius tonight, after all he had something much more fun to do. And it certainly wasn't her.
Taking out the beautiful clip she studied it closely. It looked like this admirer was the only person she had left, and she would cherish him, for all that he meant to her.
Scorpius, was no friend of hers.
