(flash forward)
"you know we should do this more often" I said to Barry as I pick up Peter,
"yeah it was fun" Barry responded with a smile, Peter had yawned and put his head on my shoulder and started to snooze, Barry looked around and suddenly my hair was blown back by a breeze, the the living room was clean.
"Quinn, hey baby" my husband leans down and gives me a kiss, he take Peter from me, "I'll go tuck him in, you catch up with your friends" I give him a smile, and we part ways. Barry and Iris are tucked away on the loveseat, so I take the big couch.
"so how is everything?" I ask, Barry smiled, and Iris blushed
"we're expecting" she said touching her stomach,
"oh!" I exclaim, "congrats!" I add, Barry beams,
"how's the business going?" Iris asked,
"really well actually, our stocks are doing well, and we're about to release some more technology" I said, Iris nods, "I'll give you a full interview in 2 days" I whispered, and Iris chuckled. Pete comes back into the room, and he sits down next to me.
"and the super hero business is going well too" he said as he pulled me closer.
"same for us" Barry said, Iris just made a face, and we all laugh again, the doorbell rings again, I try to get up, but Pete motions me to sit,
"you've done a lot today, you need to rest, for you and Emme" he murmured, Barry and Iris both look at me,
"Emme?!" Iris said, Barry looked at my stomach,
"Oh wow" he gushed, "a girl and a boy" he raised his glass of water, "to Emme, and our to be son-Wally" he said, we we all raised our glasses. Later Caitlin, Robbie, Cisco and another girl come in.
"come in guys, we have plenty of room," I laughed, motioning toward all the seats.
"-it seems that the only reason you went nuclear was that your body couldn't take all the powers you had absorbed" Cisco said looking at his tablet, "so you do have a limit of how much powers you can handle"
"so I can't have more than 5 powers in my system?" I ask, I try to turn my skin into metal, but nothing happened,
"you had 8 when you went nuclear, so I would expect you to still have 3 powers, but the other ones are gone- I was looking at your cells, and it seems you still have some powers left- but they're not that strong" Cisco adds,
"okay" that was all I could say, I made a force field, and hovered a cup, "so I saw the DNA analysis that you were running" I begin, Cisco cringes- he was about to respond before I hear Barry scream. I evaporate and appear in front of them,
"whoa" I look at Barry and I help Ronnie lift him onto the examine table, "you look like a porcupine" I blurted as I got out the medical supplies,
"thanks" Caitlin said, I walked away and sat down on in one of the chairs,
"so you can still teleport, and make shields" Cisco said, I look at Barry and then at Ronnie,
"and this" a ball of flame appears and floats above my palm
"okay, so I can create floating balls of fire" I motion toward the fireballs floating around the room, "can I do a 'flame on' thing?" I ask Cisco,
"not without getting rid of one of your powers," Cisco said, I sighed and the fireballs extinguish themselves, and the shields disappear. My phone buzzes
"excuse me" I murmur, and I pick up the phone,
"Quinn, I've been trying to reach you!" I hear an angry voice on the other line,
"what is it Adams!" I exclaim, this buy just won't give me a break,
"Lantech needs a new CEO, and you have to do it" he said,
"I am not quitting my job to move to Starling City to become a CEO!" I scream, everyone winces, "like I said, we either move to Central City, or this conversation is ending here" I sigh,
"Fine, Ms. Lan, but you better keep your word" Adam snapped back,
"I always keep my word, it's you I'm concerned about" I snarled back,
"okay ma'am, I'll get right to it" Adam says through gritted teeth,
"thank you, and have a nice day" I said and I hung up, I turned around and I found everyone's eyes on me
"sorry about that" I sighed,
" I need to talk to Doctor Stein" I hear Ronnie say,
"he's already here" I look up to see Dr. Stein in the room,
"turns out Ronald and I are not as separated as we want to be" the scientist said with a sigh.
(Flash forward)
"Pete?" I exclaimed as I walked into the room, it was dark, and a little cold. Pete didn't respond, I dropped the keys in the little tray. There was creak upstairs, and I jump. I close my eyes, it's been years since I've done this, and I evaporated into the nursery room- right in front of a man in yellow. It was like he had expected me, he reached out and socked me in the jaw. I hit the ground with a grunt, and my breath is knocked out,
"Wells" I snarled,
"oh Quinn, I thought I would never see you again" he looks at the bed, "your son looks just like you, I wonder if he'll turn out like Barry- devoting his life to finding me, after his mother's murder."
"you can try!" I snarl, and I evaporate, I grab my son, and we evaporate. I land on solid ground, and I see Pete parking his car,
"Pete take Peter, and go" I said, Peter hesitates, but grabs Peter and gets back into his car. I run toward the passenger car, but I feel a breeze. I shut the door, "go Pete" I yell, and turned around to see a man in yellow.
"you think you can run?" the deep voice of the man in yellow rumbles.
"no, but I can give them time" I said, and I ran at Wells. He laughed, and he ran at me. I evaporate before he reaches me, and I appear behind him, I kick him. He turns around, and punches me in the face. I grab his arm and twisted it. He elbow me in the gut, and I let go. He grabs me and throws me, but before I hit the ground I evaporate, and landed on top of him. I tried to put him in a choke hold, but he reached for my arm, and I felt a pop. A jot of pain travels down my arm, and I scream. He flips me over and shoved me against the house.
"atleast you tried, not as pathetic as the other girl when I killed her" his grip on my neck tightened,
"trying is all it takes" I snarl, as I kick him in the chest. He and I both fall onto the ground.
I watched Barry for a minute, he looked distraught,
"hey" I said, I sat down next to him,
"oh, hey" he sighed and rubbed his eyes,
"is the time traveling thing bothering you?" I asked, I have overheard the time traveling conversation that Dr. Stein had with Barry while I was helping Mrs. Stein with something. Barry just leaned back into the plastic chair,
"the night my mother died, there were 2 speedsters, one was the reverse flash, and the other one was me-" he frowned, I didn't say anything, "it means that I failed to save her that night" he chokes up a little.
"Barry," I looked at him, my gold eyes meeting his green ones, "I think your mother would be proud that you save hundreds of other people." I paused and gave Barry a moment to dry his eyes, "listen, if everyone could change their past, it would've been done already. I would save my dad, my mom, and my sister. But it doesn't work that way, if I went back and changed my family- I would not be here, I would not be a metahuman, and I certainly would not be a hero. The past makes us who we are, and if you are destined to fail- F*ck it- try as many times as you need to. But, always remember there are so many other opportunities in the future to succeed." Barry sniffles a little,
"thanks Quinn" he said with a sad smile,
"of course Barry, what are friends for?" I give him a little pat on his shoulder and I walk away, my face a little flushed. I bump into Cisco on the way to the little training room,
"hey Quinn" he said, and then his mouth curled into a smile, "whatchu smiling about?" he said, I feel heat rise up in my cheeks- and Barry's face pops into my face,
"Pete texted me, and we're going on a date tomorrow" I said with with a smile, it was partially true, we had decided it 2 days ago, but I never told anyone.
"Oh mah gosh!" Cisco exclaimed, "Finally, dude that guy is amazing for you!" I giggle a little, and I give Cisco a hug,
"glad you approve" I said, and I went into the training room. As soon as the door closed, the smile melted off my face, and guilt filled my stomach. Why do I always fall for the wrong guy? I wonder as I pull out my knives, my heart and brain never seem to match up.
(flashback)
"you know they make Forensic stuff look so easy" Barry said, as we were watching CSI or was it BONES? I'm not even sure any more- this is our like 5th episode.
"yeah, how does it only take 15 minutes to get a tox screen, the organs measured and processed, and the flesh cleaned off so fast?" I pointed at the screen, and just shrugged. Barry laughed and reached for the popcorn.
"but the FBI agent though" Barry said, "and that hot doctor lady"
"yes- hot, we have science to thank for that" I said, and we both burst out laughing. His eyes meet mine, and my heart fluttered a little.
"but you know, rough and tough FBI agents aren't my type" I said, Barry smiles his eyes glisten,
"well hot people with PhD's are my type" he leaned over, and so did I. I felt a small flush as my eye met his, but his face was also red.
"your so cute when you talk like that" I said with a smirk,
"I know" he said, and lifted my chin up, "thanks to you" and our lips touch.
I hear clinking of glasses, and then some voices. I shrug, and put my suit up. Suddenly I hear more voices, and I peek out the little window. A man in a military suit is talking to Dr. Wells, and Dr. Stein on the floor.
"What in the world is going on!" I burst into the room still in my mask, and suddenly 5 guns are pointed at me,
"What do we have here?" military man chuckles, I glare at him, and then I look at Dr. Wells. 1 gun was pointed at him. I evaporate, and 5 people fall to the floor, "another one? You guys are everywhere" I turn around to face military man, I reach down and took hold of Dr. Stein.
"You don't want to do that" the military man takes out his gun, I snarl at him, and I evaporate. Suddenly a blinding pain hits me in the gut, and I solidify and crashed onto the floor. I touched my stomach, and my hand came back bloody. "take Stein" was all the military man said and walked out. I put my hand on the wound, but it was gushing out blood, and my vision was getting spotty already. Dr. Wells is calling someone, and I was fuming. God, I'm so stupid, why did I get involved?
"Barry'll be here any minute, just hold on" he was above me, and suddenly I felt pressure on my stomach. I scream as a raw burst of pain tore at my gut. As pass out, I feel a gust of wind, and warm hands picking me up,
"Quinn, I'm here- yo! Don't die on me!" it was Barry
(30 or 40 minutes later)
"-welcome back" I hear Cisco's voice, and I sit up really fast- which was a horrible mistake- because another wave of pain rips through me.
"owww" I wince, and Cisco make a squeaking noise,
"oh yeah- bullet wound-" he's interrupted by a scream,
"what is going on!" I struggle out of the wires attaching me to the monitors, and we charge (well I staggered) into another room. Ronnie was screaming and suddenly he grabbed a glass- and smashed it on the table.
"what is going on!" I exclaim to no one in particular, and I get 4 different responses at the same time
"so he's connected to-"
"we're trying to figure out-"
"since they're one, we need to find out where Dr. Stein is" Barry finished for everyone. Caitlin was trying to stop Ronnie from doing something
"he's cutting himself!" Caitlin whimpered,
"wait, just let him do it" Dr. Wells, and we watched as Ronnie carved where into his arm.
"I'm just going to go sit down" I said and I walked out the room.
"-okay, let's go" I open my eyes and I see the ceiling of STAR labs, Dr. Wells was talking to Barry about something, and people are scrambling for stuff. The stabbing pain in my stomach makes me wince,
"stay still" I hear Caitlin's voice,
"why is her wound not healing quickly?" Cisco asked,
"she was shot with a specially designed bullet, which released something that's not letting her blood clot, and it's not letting her heal." Caitlin's face hovers over me, "we're going to have to take you to the hospital"
"woah, woah" I sit up, "I am not going to a hospital," I look down at the bandage.
"you're not healing like a metahuman, General Eiling shot you and the wond you have is really bad!" Cisco exclaims,
"I'm going to be fine- let's just go find Dr. Stein" I ran into the room, and put on my suit and mask, "I'll have plenty of time to heal after" I said, and I followed Barry out of the room.
(15 minutes later)
"this is a lot of military activity" I whispered to Barry,
"this is totally not abandoned" Barry says to both Ronnie and I, we ended up splitting up. I got rid of the soldiers in the perimeter, while Barry went inside to get Stein
"okay, soldiers are not a problem anymore" I said crouching behind a bush near the main entrance, a gush of wind blows the hair out of my face, and Barry stood there with Stein. Ronnie ran out from the nearest bush, and they were just about to leave-when a tank fired this missile. Barry ran and grabbed it- the missile exploded, and Barry screamed. General Eiling stepped out of the shadows,
"you just never stop do you" General Eiling growled at me, while I was punching a soldier. He fired something at me, and it hit me in the chest. A current runs through me, and a blast of pain knocks me to the ground.
"you people are just in the way of everything, but I do need you- because well you have powers that my soldiers need" he clicks a button and another shock of electricity makes me scream. I try to pull the probe out of my chest but it doesn't come out.
"damn" I mutter, Eiling had toss something into the air which knocked Ronnie down onto the ground- wait! did Ronnie and Stein join together again? Eiling laughed and pointed a gun at Ronnie,
"you are such a douche bag!" I scrambled up, "all you care about is your stupid military, and how efficiently they can kill people!" Eiling frowns at me. "We are people- you bastard! And you don't get to have us." I smirk at him,
"huh, keep dreaming" Eiling muttered, and he pressed the button, "I'm going to have you guys, and you can't do anything about-" he suddenly stops talking, I whimper a little, the electrical shocks were really painful.
"Quinn?" Ronnie helps me up,
"yeah?" I look at him, his eyes were glued to my chest, "hey! My eyes are up here" I exclaimed, and then I looked down. A silver rod, instrument was stuck in my chest, and I swallow hard. "oh" Barry found us standing there staring at the silver rod,
"okay, we need to get you to STAR labs" was all he said,
"for once, yes- I agree" I responded, and we speed back to STAR labs.
(flash forward)
"you need an ice pack honey?" Pete asks as I sit on the couch,
"sure- and some ibuprofen please" I yelled back. Peter, my son was watching me intently,
"mommy, are you okay?" he asked in a small voice,
"yes, Peter. I'll be fine" I gave him a little smile, and he jumped into my lap.
"can we watch cartoons together?" he beamed at me, it was way past his bedtime- but after his I doubt any of us could sleep.
"sure Peter, what do you want to watch?" I asked as I handed him the remote,
"the turtles" he said, as he turned on the tv. Pete comes back in with ice packs, and tea
"thanks sweetie" I said giving him a little kiss. Peter was already asleep, and it hadn't even been 10 minutes yet,
"of course" Pete responded "next time something like that happens, we'll be ready" he said taking my hand, his hand turned into a metallic substance.
"yes we will" I said, "yes we will"
