Not going to lie, this is going to be a pretty boring chapter, sorry... but hey, at least I didn't take a month to update again!
Title: It's Nothing pt 4
Summary: They've finally arrived at the North Pole
Rating: K
Jack stared silently at Tooth. How he wished that he didn't control frost, sometimes. He saw the crystals of ice that clumped her feathers together, the tinge of purple to her blue lips, and how white her face was; like freshly fallen snow.
Except Tooth wasn't an elemental, and she certainly wasn't supposed to be that color... Jack pursed his lips as he felt a small twinge of guilt. If he had only handled his emotions better... if he had just...! Why did he have to overreact like that? He was such an idiot; surely he should have realized someone was going to get hurt with that type of weather!
But then again, how was he supposed to know the guardians would actually come looking for him?
A sudden tap on the shoulder shook the winter spirit out of his thoughts, and eyes flickering up to see who had alerted him, Jack smiled tiredly at Sanderson, who had a rather concerned expression on his face. "I'm fine, Sandy... I'm just tired," he chuckled dryly.
Tired and sore; his arm ached underneath the thick ice he had coated it in, his head throbbing with pain, and his throat was definitely under strain after all that stupid shouting at the moon. Well, technically the sky, since the moon wasn't even up yet.
A golden question mark formed over Sandy's head, and another rather pointed look was shot his way as well; it was painfully obvious to everyone in the sleigh that Jack was quite possibly worse off than Toothiana, some blood still sticking to him, as well as the ice cast.
"I'm not telling you who did it, okay? It's none of your business..." Jack said sternly as it was obvious what Sandy was questionoing. True, maybe Jack should have told, but did he really look like he wanted to get his ass kicked again?
Certainly not!
And if he told the guardians, they'd probably just go stir up trouble for him... Or do something to put themselves in harms way, knowing them! They weren't exactly a group that could afford to make many enemies...
Golden puffs of sand shot out of Sandy's ears at the rejection, and the stout guardian crossed his arms and made another question mark, then a frown, a little Jack getting beaten up by someone, and then a mini Sanderson Picking up a beaten down Jack and placing a comically large band-aid on him.
"Look, little man, I know you just want to help but it's nothing, okay? We have Tooth to worry about..." the spirit said with a slight look of impatience; really, why wouldn't they just drop it? He didn't need anyone's help! He was a strong, independent frost bringer who doesn't need any help whatsoever!
A strongly accented voice soon interrupted the one-sided conversation as Bunny snapped," Tooth is going to be fine, if ya hadn't run off like that, though, we wouldn'a had to worry about any of this! Just tell us what the problem is, Frostbite! We'll take care of it!"
The idea was comforting, in a way, that the Guardians could all just solve his problems in the spirit world; protect him and look after him like an actual family would. The fact that Bunny had even volunteered warmed his heart, and yet Jack still didn't want to... for some reason, the thought of admitting to getting (pretty much) monthly beatings from his fellow seasons made him feel sick...
Yes, it was his own kind who had done the deed. And even though Jack knew he could fight back, and probably escape with a lot less than a broken arm and several cuts and bruises and probably fractures, Jack just didn't have the heart to use the full extent of his powers... Not to mention the fact that he was outnumbered, and usually they liked to corner him in a warm area where his powers weren't as strong.
And of course the spirit of summer adored grabbing him and burning his frostbitten skin.
That was always so much fun.
The thoughts of his fellow seasonals made him tense, and Jack narrowed his eyes at Bunnymund, crossing his arms defensively and trying to ignore how the chunk of ice stuck to his worn hoodie. "It's none of your business! I can handle myself, Kangaroo! Maybe you should be worrying about more important things; like dental care," Jack sneered back, smirking as he saw Bunny instantly react to the jibe.
What could he say, the opportunity was perfect?
"Jack! Bunny! Behave! Do not make me turn the sleigh over; I will come back there!" North roared from the seat, on edge with the two injured members of their team, as well as the agitation that one of them was someone he had started to view as a son.
Deeming themselves far enough from the harsh grabs of the blizzard, North pulled out a snowglobe from his thick jacket, and whirling it around gently, he whispered the location before tossing it in front of the sleigh. In a flash of multiple colors and streaks and sparkles, the guardians found themselves roughly landing on the ice ramp leading up to the workshop.
As North parked the sleigh, Bunny was more than happy to hop out of what he deemed was a 'red death trap from hell', Tooth being carried securely in his arms; by this point, frost had started to melt, wetting the Easter Rabbit's grey fur. He didn't seem to mind too much, though, and instead was a lot more concerned with getting Tooth's face back to its normal pink.
Weather-worn and half frozen, North and Sandy jumped out of the sleigh as well, the yetis attending to the reindeer, all of which having thick balls of snow and ice caught in their fur; overall, Jack's element was like a plague between them all.
"Hurry, we must get her to a fire!" North said, kicking off his boots as he shoved open the massive door that lead inside. Instantly a blast of warm air hit the five of them in the face, and a look of relief washed over all of them except for Jack, who of course preferred the cold.
Jack hustled quickly after the adults, feeling so much like a child as they hurried past him to get Tooth treated and thawed, and even though Jack understood the concern, he wondered if he would get that type of attention
He knew an ice cast was acceptable, but it definitely wasn't the best, and with the warmth of Santoff Claussen, small splashes of water were quickly starting to dot the floorboards as his cast melted. Biting his lip, Jack limped after the rest of the guardians, only to run straight into Phil.
The massive creature raised an extremely hairy eyebrow at him as he motioned with a paw at the boy's state, poking at the frost that coated his arm, as well as the caked blood that hadn't been swept away by the snow.
"Raga?" Phil questioned, and the yeti looked both concerned and annoyed as Jack just gave him a sheepish smile. Without waiting, Phil rolled his eyes as he grabbed the back of Jack's hoodie and dragged him after the guardians to the infirmary, fully planning on treating the youngest member.
Jack squirmed underneath Phil's stern grip, and he couldn't help but whine as he was jostled thanks to his protesting tugs," Phillll! Let go, I can walk!"
With a doubtful look, Jack realized why Phil was holding tight to him rather quickly; he didn't want him to fly off again! Ha, as if he would do that! Well... now that he thought about it, the idea wasn't too bad, actually...
Unfortunately there was a creature with enough strength to easily break him in half that prevented the frost bringer from sprinting to the window.
Crossing his arms (well, attempting to, at least), Jack huffed as he was dragged into the infirmary and pushed onto the bed by Phil, North by Tooth's bed shouting orders for supplies, and he blinked whenever he saw Jack being set down by Phil.
Right... they had kind of forgotten about him in the hustle and bustle of trying to thaw out their blue tooth fairy. "And get some disinfectant and rags for Jack!" North boomed, quickly trying to cover himself.
The other guardians were simply trying to stay out of the way, and soon enough they hustled over to Jack's bed where Phil was already patting down his face with a cold rag, smearing off the blood and grime.
Bunny was the first to speak as Jack was being treated, considering Tooth didn't make good company. "So, Frostbite, you gonna tell us what happened ta ya, or are we gonna have to do some investigatin'?"
Jack made a point to purse his lips as he glared at Bunny, his walls rising up, and Phil felt Jack's body stiffen underneath his large hands as he struggled to clean off the burns that were painfully evident on Jack's biceps, the wounds having been previously hidden by his hoodie sleeves. "It's none of your business, I can take care of myself," Jack said, sounding like a broken record by this point.
And thus began the stare down as Bunny approached Jack's bed with a hard look in his eyes, and Jack's icy eyes stared straight back. "Back. Off," came the hissed words.

Next chapter they'll fight, and Jack will probably confess; I don't know if I'll actually draw the confrontation, I'm kind of lazy and I don't really want to make up the three other seasons...
