"Ah damn." Dan looked down on the table in disgust. "Been hitting the ball wrong all night."
"S'now big deal mate." Snowy lined up his shot, 10-ball to the side pocket. "Not like we put a bet on it."
The cue ball hit the 10 straight on, the blue-striped ball falling right into the hole.
"There we go," Snowy said.
"Good shot." Dan leaned on his pool stick, looking at the table. Snowy had two balls left before the 8, he was still at five.
"Think you got me beat this go-around, Snowy."
"Eh, think I'm about to fowl. Because I am just surrounded by solids here. Lemme uh..."
Snowy tried to shoot his ball off the far side, coming back around and hitting nothing.
"Fowl." He raised his pool stick. "Your shot."
Dan scanned the field. Three balls near the corner pocket.
"Let's try this." He put the cue ball down and aimed his first shot at the corner pocket. A little tap in and the 3 ball was sunk.
"There we go." Snowy nodded.
Dan moved around the table. All he had to do was run the 4 ball up the short side and drop it in. Steady...steady...
The purple ball streaked down the edge, before getting caught between the corner borders. It bobbed back and forth before falling in.
"Nice." Snowy gave him a quick thumbs up.
Dan looked at the 5. This was for the tie. Agh, no good straight angle for this shot. He was gonna have to hit the side just right.
He closed an eye, wincing as he shot it. The white ball smacked the orange one and the 5 laziiiilllllyyyy rolled into the corner...
and dropped.
"Wow! Good shit. Snowy beamed.
"Thanks. Not sure I pulled that one out of my ass." Dan looked at the table. His last solids were right in between the side pockets and opposite corners. The 8 ball was... blocking an easy shot for him. Shit. Snowy's last two stripes were in his way too. If he fouled here. It was probably game.
"Lemme just..." The cue ball bounced off the side, clipping his solid just as it came to rest.
"Good job." Snowy raised his pool stick. "Say, wanna see a trick I learned? One time I sunk 3 balls in one shot with it."
"Sure." Dan sat back. This oughta be good.
Snowy lined up his shot. Shoot the 14 off center to let it roll into a side pocket.
He shot it as hard as he could. The cue ball ricocheted off the 14 and bounced into the air.
"SCREEEEEEECH!"The cue ball flung backward, hitting the 15 and sinking it into the corner, before bouncing back and hitting the 8 ball. The 8 ball rolled back, at the edge of the corner.
"scree."
It dropped in.
