Ron: "You should update more often."
Me: "Shut up"
Ron: "Or what?"
Me: "Or I'll kill Hermione. Enjoy and review!"
"What's HE doing here?" Ron asked and glared at Draco, who surprisingly didn't reply. Ahsoka told Ron to shut it. Her voice was a little too harsh and her eyes a little too cold, but she was still taken aback from Draco's statement. She kept starring at the grass and fought her mind for answers.
Seeing as Ahsoka would not be the one to take action, Harry did. He stood up and as all pair of eyes, except the togruta's, rested on him, he wondered what to say. The dream was still detailed in his head but he remembered the big 'un-understandable' and had no idea how to explain what he couldn't grasp himself. "Right. Uhh…" Great start, Harry, he thought. "We are gathered here today" - oh man, did that sound wrong - "to discuss the dream me and Ahsoka had. Well… how can I explain this? If you imagine you are wandering around in a big bobble of something you don't know. Something you can't understand and, perhaps, were never meant to understand." The others gazed at him with empty looks - even Hermione. "It's not easy to understand," he said.
"You don't say?" George commented.
Harry looked at Ahsoka for help, but she just continued to stare down into the ground, he almost groaned in annoyance. "Anyway, I met Ahsoka there and it was not just me, dreaming about her, she was really there. Suddenly, thousands of Chosen ones from every world appeared. We knew it was them because we found Renemsee. Or she found us. Then Ahsoka started to wave goodbye and walked awa…"
"Wow wow wow!" said Soka who was finally awoken from her trance. "I didn't do anything. It was all of you guys who waved at me. Then everything turned black and I woke up." She would not even try to describe that it had not been a black space but simply nothing.
"Let me get this straight," Fred said. "You two had the same dream… until it wasn't the same anymore?"
"That's what they just said," said Hermione and the twins responded by sticking out their tongues.
They had talked back and forth and missed most of next class when they got back to the school. And were surprised to find students all over the place. Some had even changed their uniform to more comfortable clothes. They were talking, chatting, giggling and seemed all in a better mood then anybody had been in for the last months. Cedric, who was pretty popular among his house, grabbed the arm of a Hufflepuff girl with light brown hair. "Hey Samantha," he asked, "what's going on?"
"You guys didn't here?" The girl responded and glanced over them. "They canceled classes for the rest of the day. Some important meeting. Only catch is that we are not allowed to go outside anymore."
"A meeting?" Ahsoka wondered out loud when Draco whispered in her ear: "The attack on King Cross from Voldemort is supposed to happen in less than two hours. I think the teachers cancelled class to leave the school." Ahsoka opened her eyes wide. "Maybe we can still help them! We need to find a teacher!"
"But we we're told to s-" Ron began. The togruta cut him off and ran as fast as her legs could carry us down the hall and used the force to move people away. She could hear her friends take on the hunt but she didn't slow down. She knew what she had been told, but she couldn't just stand by and watch as Voldemort and Darth Sidious - who it was her responsibility to stop - take over her friends world and home. At top of a staircase she was close to tripping over a dark brown cat. The tiny creature looked just as surprised as the witch. "Orrgh, mrs. Norris! Why do you always have to…" Her words died as ' ' turned into Professor McGonagll. "Oh. Professor, I'm so sorry, I… Why were you in your cat form?"
"You will find a lot of secret passageways if you have the right size, mrs. Tano," McGonagall said. "And it is quite alright, I can't stand that dreadful cat either." The last part she added with a frown. Ahsoka grinned but quickly got back to the matter. "Are you leaving?" she asked as her friends caught up to her.
McGonagall looked at all of them, one by one, and finally said: "No. I am not. That would make the school too vulnerable, but the other teachers are leaving as we speak. And you are not coming with them," she added in a strict voice when Ahsoka and Harry opened their mouths. "I thought we made this clear to you. And by the way, you have a job to do here."
"What?" asked Dean who now also was eager to help the teachers. "What is as important?"
"Well, protecting Hogwarts of course!" McGonagall replied. "I cannot defend this entire castle by myself should we be attacked. I am not Merlin. You are all to stay here and do your duty to Hogwarts. And that is the last I want to hear about this." In case you are wondering: No, you couldn't argue with that. Ahsoka sighed but nodded.
"Yes, I suppose you're right, professor."
If possible, Minerva looked even stricter and Ahsoka's head shot up at her words. "This is no game, Ahsoka! There is a war going on outside these walls. People are dying. Hogwarts has never been more vulnerable before." All locked their wide eyes on the old witch. She looked tired, worn-out but also, somehow, more human than Ahsoka had ever seen her. Old habits die hard, as they say and Ahsoka bowed to her teacher. "I understand, professor. I'll see to it that nothing will pose a threat to Hogwarts until we are all home." McGonagall padded her on the shoulder as she stood up straight.
"Thank you, Ahsoka. It'll be appreciated." Her smile turned into a grimaced as she morphed into a cat again and wandered off.
"So what do you want us to do?" asked Ginny from behind her. Tano turned around. A plan was already forming in her head. She had few soldiers at her hand but they were the elite. Not because of their abilities but because they were willing to fight till the very end. She just hoped that there would be no battle today. She hadn't been in one for almost four years. But as wheels turned in her head and thoughts linked together, she came up with a defense-plan. She hadn't forgotten where she came from. "Gryffindor common room is our base and safe house. I will be there. Luna, Cedric, Draco. You're my scouts. You have access the respectively Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin. Luna - you go to your tower. You can see everything from there. Send me an owl if you see anything unusual. Cedric, Draco - I want you to mingle with your house. Be sure no one goes outside and that no one knows the teachers are gone. If we are attacked - and this is very unlikely - you are the only ones among the students who are prepared. Luna, this counts for you too. Go." The three students left though Cedric formed the words Be safe before he ran off. The Padawan felt a pull in her heart but there was no time for hesitation. "Twins - you have the same job among the Gryffindor's. I'll cover base ground so you don't have to go there. Split up if possible. " The nodded and left, one to the Great Hall, the other to hallways. "Dean, Seamus, Ron and Harry, Ginny, Neville - You cover the grounds. McGonagall will understand why you are outside. Each group will firstly get an owl before heading outside. Do not split from your group. I repeat: Do NOT split from your group. And don't go near the dark forest. No matter what. Go."
The last of them disappeared towards the owlery so it was only the team leader and Hermione left. "What's my job?" asked Hermione who secretly worried about Ron being on the most vulnerable team.
"You're going to be my secretary the next couple of hours. I need a runner with me for as a team leader I'm not allowed to leave base camp."
"You mean the common room?"
"I'm in the zone, soldier. And I need to stay there.
"Sorry."
Soka offered her a little smile. Everything was going a hell of a lot faster than she was use too. However, the old Ahsoka, a thirteen-year-old Padawan in a battlefield, was seeing daylight for the first time in years. And as much as she wished for this war to be over, the thrill of battle that filled her was like greeting an old friend. "Go to McGonagall and tell her what I've done. Head straight back to base after. If we need to send a message we'll use Hedwig." Granger was off and team leader was alone.
Her breathing was fast and her steps was faster on her way back to the tower. She flew by students and stone walls but almost crashed to the floor when she heard a familiar voice nearby. She opened the door to what was supposed to be an empty classroom. And there was her Master. "Anakin?!" she shouted in surprise. He looked up at her, but his face was blunt and showed no emotions. That's when she noticed Obi-Wan and Yoda. "Uhh… I - I mean Master. What you doing here?"
It was Yoda who spoke. "Here, we are, to help Albus. To Kings Cross, we are going," said the Grandmaster.
"Uhm, alright," said Ahsoka. She had completely forgotten the Jedi when she heard that Hogwarts might be in danger. "Can I talk to you alone, Master?" she asked addressed to Anakin. He looked back at Kenobi and Yoda who nodded to him. "We will go ahead but hurry up," Obi-Wan said and closed the door after him. Master and Padawan was alone and none of them dared making a sound till the other Jedi were out of hearing range. Then Skywalker burst into a smile. "I'm a dad."
Ahsoka followed his example and grinned widely. She threw herself into his arms and he spun her around, singing; "I'm a dad, I'm a dad, I'm a dad!"
She wanted to ask about everything. The sex, how was Padmé, did he feel different? But the only thing she could say was: "If you're a dad then what the hell are you doing here? Aren't you suppose to be with, I don't know, your wife and child? And not on the way to a battle?"
"I had no choice," he answered. "If I suddenly disappeared in the middle of everything that's going on right now, they would notice. Especially since I'm the Chosen one's Master."
The togruta was hit with Malfoy's words once again. "Exactly," the blond-haired boy said. "Now, like you just said, it's my right to say what I mean. You have that right to. But I don't need to be a Ravenclaw to figure out that you haven't been asked a single thing in your life. You weren't asked to become a Jedi, you weren't asked to go here. The Jedi chose that for you. The way I see it, you haven't found your road. They pointed at the one they wanted you to take." They rang in her inner ear, smashing her brain and mind for every syllable. "That - that's not fair," she managed to choke out.
Anakin smiled. "Since when has life been fair? Do you want to hear about it or what?"
Pushing the words and a headache back, her lips formed a smile. "Of course, but quickly. Me and the guys are in charge of Hogwarts right after McGonagall while you are gone. I need to get into position as team leader."
Amazing she can remember all that, Skywalker thought to himself. "Padmé is tired but fine. Chancellor Organa told her to stay home for as long as she needed. And… and it's a girl, Snips. A little baby girl." A tear slide down his cheek. "She has Padmé's eyes but my hair. She looks like me, Snips. She looks like me."
Ahsoka joined him with a tear of her own. "I feel so sorry for that poor creature," she smiled. "What's her name?"
"We haven't decided yet."
Hermione had been pissed when Ahsoka had finally given the fat lady the password and entered the common room. Though she had been pissed in a quiet way - so no everyone in the cozy room would wander what was going on - Ahsoka had snapped back into battle-mode and put Hermione in her place. "Is that a way to talk to your superior, private?" The harsh tone made Hermione pull back and tell her what McGonagall had said but she was slightly grumpy the following hour. They were now both sitting in the girls dormitory looking out of separate windows. The attack must have started now, Soka thought. No one had contacted her and Hermione yet. Not by owl nor comm link. A few minutes ago, they had sent Hedwig to Luna just to be sure, but she had sent her back with message:
The nargles are sleeping because I hummed a lullaby. Try not to wake them - Luna
Which she guessed was Lovegood for Nothing to report. The teachers DID put up a shield around the school before leaving and Ahsoka was grinning to herself. I'm beginning to suffer from paranoia. "Do you see anything?"
"Nope." Hermione yawned.
Ahsoka too was tired. With no sleep last night, her eyelids were heavy as shit. But with a nightmare and Draco's words on her mind, a war and a title of 'aunt of honor' and currently team leader, she couldn't drift off. Thoughts was buzzing in her skull like bees. "I spy with my little eye, something… beautiful."
Granger giggled along with her friend. "Well, you can't see a flower from up here. And a dirty window isn't what I would call beautiful." Elimination. Classic Granger. "Pass."
"The inside of my eyelids." Both girls laughed but were interrupted by the bip of a comm link. Ahsoka pressed her finger to the button suddenly dead serious and full of worry. "Padawan Tano here." Hermione jumped of the windowsill and stood as stiff as a plank of wood. "It's Anakin!"he replied at the other end with a scratchy voice. "Ahsoka, listen closely! (Scratchy) We're not alone! We had to (scratchy) call in the Ministry of Magic! There are Death Eaters crawling all over this place! The no-magic minister is covering for us by saying it's a terror attack! Almost half of Volde-something and Sidious' army is here! We are falling back… (scratchy)."
"Anakin?! ANAKIN!" Yelling did no good and Ahsoka panicked. The line was dead and she couldn't contact her Master. "Shit!" What do I do, WHAT DO I DO?! She was in shock. No. She couldn't be in shock. She was team leader. "Hedwig!" The whit bird landed beside her and hooted. With shaking fingers, Ahsoka quickly wrote a letter and attached it to Hedwig's leg. "I need you to go to McGonagall, do you understand?" She hooted once more and flew out the open window. Ahsoka calmed her breath and looked at Hermione who was crying and had red eyes. That was all Ahsoka managed to take in before an explosion inside her head caused her to fall to the ground. She screamed in pain. She had experienced this kind of of pain before. In Middleearth when Anakin had contacted her through minds.
"Are you ready, child?" Asked a person who Ahsoka was sure only she could here. "It begins now."
A high pitched sound replaced the voice and Ahsoka could see Hermione's lips move but she couldn't hear no words coming out of them. Palpatine. It was Palpatine. Slowly, her hearing returned and she assured Hermione that she was okay now. Before she could explain or understand herself, a third thing landed in the pile of things to panic about. An explosion - for real this time - caused maybe the entire castle to shake. Smoke rose from the forest. "What now?!" Ahsoka screamed through her tears and sobs. A red light appeared. Was that a… a lightsaber? Followed by the first, hundreds, maybe thousands of red lights shone through the smoke. "How?! The shield is supposed to reflect all spells and curses!"
Ahsoka didn't even realize that she had realized it. She just grabbed the comm link, working or not, and screamed into it. "Anakin! The weapon! It's not a thing! It's dark Jedi! IT'S DARK JEDI!"
