Elsa made her way downstairs and saw Jack in front of the vending machine. She made her way towards him. Jack, hearing someone approaching him, looked up. Once he saw that it was Elsa his face broke into a grin.
"Hey!" He greeted.
"Hello," Elsa said, then looked at the vending machine. "What're you getting?"
"I'm thinking of gummy bears, but there's also Doritos," Jack said.
"Doritios?" A faint smile twitched on Elsa's lips.
"Yeah. Why're you smiling?" Jack asked curiously.
"Nothing... It's just, Doritos leave some orange on your fingers, and you seem like the type of guy who runs his hand through his hair a lot," Elsa let out a giggle thinking of Jack tinting his hair orange with the Dorito cheese.
"Wait a minute... That's why my sister kept telling me to eat Doritos as a snack!" Jack realized, then too began laughing. "Gummy bears it is!" Once he pulled gummy bears out of the slot, they sat at a table in the cafeteria.
"Go on, take some," Jack gestured.
"Me?" Elsa asked.
"Yeah, you. Take some. I don't mind. I wouldn't even be able to finish this whole pack by myself anyway," Jack smiled. "Really."
"Oh... It's just that..." Elsa was too embarrassed to finish her sentence.
"Don't tell me you've never had a gummy bear before!" Jack exclaimed. When Elsa didn't reply, he took a red gummy bear, then said, "Elsa?"
"Yes?"
Right when her mouth opened, Jack plopped the gummy bear into her mouth. Elsa's eyes widened in surprise, then she began chewing the squishy treat.
"Mm... This actually tastes really good!" She exclaimed.
"Told you!" Jack said. He then spotted Hiro and Michelle walking into the cafeteria looking traumatized.
"Hey, you guys! Over here!" Jack called out to them. The two teens made their way over to him and Elsa.
"What's up with you two? You look like you've seen a ghost," Jack commented.
"We met a personal healthcare robot... And he was... Yeesh," Hiro shuddered.
"Okay...?" Jack looked confused.
"Long story," Michelle sighed.
"GUMMY BEARS!" Hiro exclaimed. "Can I have one? Please?"
"Go right ahead. I'm Elsa, by the way," Elsa said as she pushed the gummy bear bag closer to Hiro.
"Hiro. Man, these are good!" Hiro chewed the gummy bear happily.
"So are you guys ready for classes tomorrow?" Jack asked.
"I guess," Michelle shrugged.
"Oh, wait! You both need to participate in at least one club. Which one do you want?" Elsa asked.
"Is there a robotics club?" Hiro asked.
"I haven't thought about that... There's probably some spots open, but I ignored it because I would suck at it," Jack replied.
"Oh my gosh is there a Glee club?!" Michelle asked excitedly.
"What? Like the TV show?" Jack asked, confused.
"No, like a real singing group," Michelle said.
"Wait. Some singing groups are actually called glee clubs?" Jack asked, eyes wide in shock.
"Yes, Jack. They are!" Elsa laughed.
"I gotta process this all," Jack joked as he scratched his head.
"Michelle, if you do want to make a glee club, you could always talk to North," Elsa said.
"I will tomorrow. I think I'm gonna take a nap right now," Michelle said as she yawned.
"Same. I feel jet lagged," Hiro agreed. The prodigies made their way to their dorms which left Jack and Elsa alone.
"They're adorable," Elsa said.
"You talk about them like they're preschoolers," Jack remarked.
Elsa let out a laugh, which pleased Jack. "I can't help it, they aren't like those stereotype teenagers. I don't think Hiro plays video games all the time and constantly plays Minecraft. And Michelle doesn't seem like the type of girl who's obsessed with shopping and makeup and boys."
"I don't think Michelle was even wearing makeup," Jack agrees. "But, Hiro on the other hand..." Jack jokes.
"Oh, stop. You're just mad because you had to give up your dorm," Elsa teases.
"So pissed!" Jack pretends to be angry, causing the both of them to laugh. "But for real, I don't really mind. I've always wanted a younger brother."
"Yeah, it's sort of cool seeing Michelle as a younger sister..." Elsa trails off, seeming to think deeply about something that troubled her.
After a moment, Jack noticed that Elsa still seemed distant and he said, "Hey, you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine," Elsa said abruptly as she was snapped back into reality.
"You sure?" Jack's eyebrows knitted together in worry.
"Yeah, don't worry about me," Elsa plastered a smile on her face. "I, uh, better study for geometry. You know, just in case we have a pop quiz or something," she then stood up and took short yet quick steps as she walked away.
Jack stared after her, knowing something was wrong. Because Elsa was good at geometry; it was her favorite subject.
So what could be bothering her?
