Summary: Katie Walker was a 14 year old girl who was an otaku. She takes up classes on martial arts and has a minion named Yuusuke Usui. However, one thing led to another and suddenly she and her minion manage to actually fall through the screen in a cinema and find themselves in a familiar world known as the Anime World and actually meet Ciel and Sebastian.
I DO NOT OWN ANYTHING BUT MY OCs (KATIE WALKER/YUUSUKE USUI/EMMA TATE/MINAMI TOKURA/HARU FUJISAKI)

The servants of the Phantomhive Manor stood in Ciel's study room. Their posture straight, trying to look as confident as possible; however, the servant trio's expressions begged to differ. They were nervous. It was around their first time getting called to the Young Master's office without being accompanied with Sebastian as well. Could it be…? Is it time for the… boot? Finni couldn't deny that he had been sweating faster than a bear in the desert.
No, no… Yuusuke was here as well.
Wait, didn't the Young Master DESPISE the raven haired boy?
They were dead...
As if the thought had triggered them, the three of them had cursing glares aimed at the poor, clueless teenager who felt pokes at the side of his face.
"So then, what was this matter you wanted to discuss with us?" Mey Rin dared to question. Ciel looked up from his desk.
"There is a job I want you four to do"
The background was instantly filled with bright colors and stars as the trio's eyes lit in relief and surprise. "J-O-B?" They spelled out before launching each other in what Katie usually called a 'Group Hug'. Yuusuke, who had been tranquil since the moment they had stepped into the office, stuffed his hands in his pockets and slumped his back in a more comfortable position.
Damn, standing straight was such a chore.
Tanaka was next to him, sipping on his usual everyday green tea. Yuusuke finished his fill earlier and denied any seconds; for once.
"What a relief!" Finni cried out.
"Being called up to the young master, I thought we were going to be fired for sure!" Mey Rin added.
"Hoh! Hoh! Hoh!"
Ciel placed an old fashioned camera on his desk, ignoring their celebration. "This is one of the items that Talbot is said to have collected; a camera with a past. I heard this long lost item had suddenly come up at an auction, and I went to quite some trouble to acquire it." He wiped it up carefully as though it was his most prized possession. Just by his repeated motions, one could already tell that his words were true.
"Talbot?" The four chorused.
Suddenly, the room darkened and a single spotlight shined on a Tanaka that was no longer in chibi form. "William Henry Fox Talbot; he was an English scientist, and one of the inventors of photographic technology," He explained. "There is a strange rumor surrounding the final camera he used. It says that if you take a picture of someone with the camera, then being the most treasured by that person may also be revealed in the photograph."
"The thing most important to that person?" Mey Rin blushed as she started to fantasize about the possibility of love. Tanaka then deflated back to his Chibi form to rest.
"And this is that legendary cam?" Yuusuke asked in disbelief. He wondered how much Ciel must have bought it off; unless the other nobles who had attended that auction were complete idiots, people must've been willing to pay a whole lot for it. He couldn't imagine how much money Ciel had lost on that day.
Ciel set the camera up with a mischievous glint in his single visible eye. "Let's take one as a test" Yuusuke deadpanned. Didn't that mean that Ciel had no absolute idea if he had just wasted his money on a rip-off camera or if it was really the real deal?
Finni was already in front of the camera and was told not to move. The others watched behind him in fascination as the Phantomhive Earl revealed his skills in photography. "This camera takes ten seconds for the negative exposure." He removed the camera's cap as Finni stood, frozen stiff, in front of the camera. Covering his head with the black cloth attached to the device, he set it up quietly.
"What's negative exposure?" Mey Rin asked.
"It's the thing that'll burn Finni's image onto the photograph. If he doesn't stand still for at least 10 seconds, it'll blur and wouldn't come out as a good shot" Yuusuke explained, tilting his head to one side. He had experience with cameras before, but it was a Canon T4i. It was useless regardless of the times he used it during the summer holidays he spent with Haru and Minami.
"Eight. Nine. Ten" Ciel counted. He placed the cap back on. "Alright" Finni let out a breath of relief as he panted. "It was fine to breath, though…"
"Eh?" Exclaimed the strawberry blonde, a question mark popping by the back of his head.
T
He dipped the photo into the water as the four watched it form into a clearer image by every second. Who knew that Ciel would have a red room in his home?
"Ah! That's my little birdie!" Cried out Finni.
"Huh? You had a bird?" Bard echoed, rubbing his head as he tried to remember any birds.
"I gave it food every day and eventually it would come to eat from my hand. I was so happy and when I went to pet it nicely…" He broke the head of a small wooden bear. Its head connected to the floor. He had decapitated it. "It stopped moving" Yuusuke and Bard shuddered in fright. The poor animal...
They had returned to the study, now discussing on the photo taken moments ago.
"Y-You mean it…" Mey Rin started to shiver. Tanaka took a sip of his green tea. It became dark again and the spotlight appeared, shining on the real form of Tanaka.
"Ah I forgot to mention something; the precious thing that is reflected is something which does not belong in this world. In other words, only the dead."
"T-The dead!?" Bard echoed in disbelief. Yuusuke rolled his eyes. Great, another magical item that 'accidentally' appeared.
"B-By that, you mean…" Mey Rin stammered.
Ciel sneered and kept his eyes closed. "The most precious thing to that person which is not of this world. In other words, it means the dead will be transposed to the photograph."
"Kyaaa!" Mey Rin and Bard held their hands together as they squealed; one from the excitement and the other from the horror. Bard then let go of Mey Rin with a small blush spread across his cheeks and looked down at the calm boy who was seated in his chair. "Do occult stories like that really exist in this 19th Century world?"
Of course they do. That son of a gun, Sebastian, is a demon. The gay rapist, Grell, is a Death God/ Grim Reaper, and that crazy loon, Katie, is a flippin' Dimension Traveller.
Mey Rin then joined him. "How amazing! What an exceptional camera!" Finni was hugging his knees at the corner of the study, sulking as he grew mushrooms on the walls and floor.
"Aw! My little birdie!" He cried out as he let out animated tears.
A vein mark appeared on Ciel's head. "Stop growing mushrooms in my study!"
Yuusuke was now amazed at what living in an anime can actually do. Ciel placed a palm on the camera and sighed. "I need you to take a picture of someone with this camera. However, do it without that person knowing…" Yuusuke's eyes widened by a quarter. He had a feeling he knew who this person was. He took a swift look at Ciel who was still immersed in thought about the camera. Knowing him, the possibility of it being her was high.
"A candid, you mean?" He chimed in.
"I suppose you could call it that" Ciel shrugged.
Bard, Mey Rin and Finni shared the same puzzled expression. "Why not just ask Miss Katie or Sebastian to do it?" They asked curiously. "The two were invincible after all. And wasn't Katie a ninja? Sneaking around quietly was a ninja's daily job, right?"
Ciel looked up at them. "I need you to take a picture of Sebastian AND Katie."
Mey Rin flushed. "W-Who is the one that Sebastian and Miss Katie care most for?"
"I'd also like to know…" Finni agreed.
"That bastard is always finding flaws in my artistic cooking! And Miss Katie is always…" He froze, shivering slightly. "That thief... always stealing my shorts! But those two are definitely human! Superhumans!" Ciel broke into a smile. "They must have a weak point or two! This is our chance!
"You'll do it right?" Ciel piped in as Tanaka peered over the table at the camera again. The trio looked over to the only one who had remained silent, expectant looks on their silly faces. He sighed tiredly. Did he really want to do this? It would be tiring, and very troublesome. Sebastian was a demon, and Katie was a ninja. Taking a picture of them secretly was no piece of cake.
Just then, an image of the girl's down-casted smile appeared in his mind.
"Toki-Toki-kun, Ikobe-san, Waki-Waki-chan, and even Ryoushi-chan"
"Were they your friends?"
"Those were the people who hated me. They bullied me everyday, and I just ignored them. But one time, I punched Waki-Waki-chan in the face and she cried to one of the sisters there. It felt right!"
"But… we got to, how you say, make up in the end. Well just one day before the tragedy actually. We played together, and had a sleepover. It was the first time I thought living in an orphanage wasn't all that bad. Because… you know… I had friends"
What… did those four look like? The thought ran in his mind. The only four who once bullied her till the point she punched one of them in the face, and then changed and suddenly accepted her. He wondered if they did this, would he see four instead of one?
All four names sounded weird, yet he respected them.
Whatever they did that managed to change the once traumatic girl's life was something he hoped to do one day.
To make her smile and forget her worries; that was what he wanted.
"Is it possible for more than one person to appear in the image?" He asked Tanaka. The old man shook his head before sipping onto his green tea once more.
Yuusuke sighed heavily and crossed his arms. Asking her for their appearances was possible. Yes, and after that he'd check which child had appeared in the image and then refer to Katie's details. Then he'd know which one had been closest to Katie.
He looked up at Ciel with determined eyes. Bowing lowly, he shouted out the words that had always been said by Sebastian himself.
"Yes, my lord!"
"YAY! Yuusuke's in! Yuusuke's in!" Bard cheered with the other two.
"You didn't have to shout…" Muttered Ciel as he leaned onto his chair. "And I wouldn't get all excited if I were you…" The trio curiously glanced at him. "This is no easy task"
Finni nodded in agreement. "That's true…Sebastian is always full of surprises! He will definitely be difficult, but what a challenge!" Mey Rin nodded as well.
Ciel sighed. "I rather worry about the other one. Good luck…"
SILENCE
"Oh yeah… that's right" The four sweat-dropped.
They had to deal with a ninja…
T
"You should attempt to attack Sebastian first"
How it was actually possible, no human would be able to supply an answer to that. Yet, he expected discomfort and that was what he received. Sandwiched behind a big bookshelf was Yuusuke who was currently trying to get Bard's hands off him. Certain Yaoi fans could faint at the sight of the stains of red on their cheeks as they looked away, flustered as ever.
No, they were not homosexual.
They watched as Sebastian's form walked around the big table, trying to spot something to dust. He had already spent his morning cleaning and wiping the shelves of the library. Yuusuke supposed that Sebastian just couldn't get enough of it. Bard had the camera positioned in front of him whilst Yuusuke was still in trouble from Bard's hand on his butt.
"Wait, wait! We at least need to have a plan before we're out there!" Yuusuke reasoned with them. Ciel nodded, agreeing with him. They couldn't just jump out there and hope for a miracle. A ploy against the demon was to be taken seriously.
"Do you have one, genius?" Ciel snorted in amusement.
Whipping his head back, he glared at the said boy who simply snickered at his reaction. "I'll have you know, I'm actually a prodigy back in school. So don't go gawking when I tell you my plan."
Finni's eyes showed admiration. "You are so awesome, Yuusuke!"
Yuusuke had finally been satisfied once Ciel rolled his eyes, irritated and giving into his antics. "So tell us this plan of yours"
Smirking, he winked playfully at the young Earl. "Gladly."
Once he finally removed it from his lower region of his body, he focused back on the target. He was swift, he had to admit. The demon never halted in his steps, continuously walking aimlessly around the room in search for dust particles to slay.
"Alright. Since we're talking about that bastard, we're gonna have to up our game. We need a distraction."
On cue, a knock on the door sounded.
"Finni. You're our guy"
The door opened to reveal a curious head peeking into the room with small smile on his face. "Hello there, Sebastian!" Greeted Finni who had been nervously clinging onto his own fingers behind his back.
The butler stopped his motions and looked towards him with an expressionless face as always. "Do you need something, Finni?"
Finni nodded, uneasiness evident through his nervous shaking. "U-Um… I don't want to trouble you, but…" He then stepped aside then closed the door. "It's just that… the Young Master wants me to try paint a picture of someone in the manor. So um… could I paint… you?" Scratching his cheek, he asked rather bashfully.
"What kind of nonsense is that?" Ciel scoffed. "If you're that obvious, he'll know in an instant."
Yuusuke shook his head. "No, being shy and embarrassed is necessary; when Sebastian knows that Finni will be infectiously happy if he says yes, then he'd also know the opposite effect."
"If he says no, then Finni will be sad. And since he's emotional, he'll probably sulk about it for days…" Continued Bard when realization hit him.
Ciel finally smiled. "Translation: he will know that the work Finni does will have a tremendous effect and will trouble him. So he'll HAVE to say yes."
Sebastian smiled politely at him. "Of course."
Bard and Yuusuke gaped in amazement. Yuusuke was right! He said yes! Bard readied with the camera.
"R-Really?! YAY! We can do it right here... in the library!" Finni said. "Just give me a second to get-"
"-no, no" Sebastian interrupted, swatting his hand in the air.
"EH?" Finni was struck in confusion.
"When I said that you could paint me, I didn't mean that I would stand still for hours just for your time. I still have plenty of work to be done." Sebastian stated, glancing at the shelves again.
"T-Then, how will I finish the painting... without you?" Finni asked.
He then smirked. "Miss Katie can supply you with a treasure trove of photographs of me. I suppose that would be an easier task, no?"
Yuusuke felt as though the soul inside of his body was released from his mouth and ready to leave this world.
Bard's eye was twitched wildly, cursing the good-for-nothing ninja who just happened to have a lot of pictures of Sebastian.
"I shall be taking my leave now." Finni's feet stayed glued on the red carpeted floor as Sebastian opened the door and was about to leave when he peeked in again to send him a small smile. "I look forward to seeing your painting, Finni."
T
Ciel heaved a sigh at the sight of Yuusuke who laughed sheepishly, ruffling his hair as he attempted to hide himself away from Ciel. Okay, so he was wrong; not much of a big deal. But at least he wasn't stupid enough to actually pull up a stunt like kill himself in order for Sebastian to freeze up.
Finni had been dismissed from the mission in order to finish up the painting he had declared to do. Seated on a stool, his mood worsened as the paintbrush in his hand fell and made contact with the floor. Mey Rin and Bard forced themselves to look away from his dejected aura and focused on their job.
"Don't worry! I still got loads of ideas!"
And so, the sitcom began!
Plan 'Helpful Hand!'
"Sebastian! Would you care to have a massage? You look quite tense!"
"No thank you, Mey Rin. I am very busy"
FAIL
Plan 'Desperate Bomber!'
"Oh boy! I sure hope that Sebastian's not down here to see that I'm up to no good~!"
"What do you think you are doing, you ignorant fool?"
"I'm ready to bomb this whole manor right now unless you stand still for 10 whole seconds!"
CLANG!
INJURED...
Plan 'Not Gay Alternative'
"You have summoned me, Young Master?"
"Yes, stand still"
"Young Master?"
"Hmm… hmm…"
"What is it?"
"I said don't move!"
"Why?"
"I'm observing you. Your torso width isn't too bad actually…"
"Is that so? Thank you very much. However, if you intend on knowing my measurements…"
SMIRKS
"I have written a list of ALL my body measurements. Please, have a look"

Plan 'Gay Alternative Pt. 2'
"What is it that you want, Yuusuke? I am very busy with my work, do you not know?"
"You know… I think I'm starting to understand Katie a little."
"And why does that concern me…?"
"I'm saying that she's right about you"
"You really are sexy"
Green Tea for Yuusuke; banned for 3 days
Plan 'Last Resort'
"Sebastian"
…
"WHY?"
…
"I have so much to do, and this is what you do to me"
…
"I am not even THAT evil!"
"Shut up! Sebastian! If you do not sit in a chair for one whole minute without moving your body one bit, I will BURN all your underwear designs for Katie, and then tell her the real truth behind all of it!"
"BASTARD YUUSUKE!"
5 fractured fingers, 1 blue eye and 3 broken teeth was what met Yuusuke when he messed with the demon's underwear line.
T
"ENOUGH!" Barked out Ciel, blush still fresh on his cheeks. "Go for the other one!"
"You mean you don't care about Sebastian anymore?" Bard pressed the ice pack on Yuusuke's cheek whilst Mey Rin was busy aiding his fingers. Boy, he really messed with the wrong thing today.
"If you get Katie's picture, Sebastian's picture does no longer matter. Just get her picture and you shall be done for the day, tell me you have a plan for her"
Yuusuke gave him a sarcastic look. "Boy, who do you think I am?"
Sighing, Ciel finally gave in and left his chances at the hands of Yuusuke and his servants.
"At this time, Katie should be in garden playing with Shiro"
Bard hid behind a bush and watched the girl silently.
"There she is…" Bard muttered softly. The camera by his side was being supported by the fence wall. However...
"LASAGNA!" She gave out a cry as she landed in a flower bed of daisies.
"Ba-gau!" She was soon joined by Shiro who lay next to her. She swayed her arms and legs as she tried to make a 'flower angel'.
"Whoa! It's a good day today! Am I right, sir Shiro?" She cheerfully asked. The latter barked in agreement. "Oh! Good boy! Good boy!" She ruffled his hair before launching him in a tight hug again, kicking her legs up and down.
"Hey! When we go back to our world, you wanna follow us back Shiro-chan?!"
"Ba-gau!"
"HE SAID FUCKING YESSSS, AIR PARTICLE BITCHESS!"
She just… couldn't stay still.
Oh yes… He deadpanned. This was going to be extremely difficult…
"What's your plan?" Ciel questioned.
"We only have one shot at this, and I'm completely sure that this'll work." Yuusuke boldly declared with a strong smile on his lips. The power of anime really fixed his look. The power of anime was awesome and he healed in an instant. No one ever found it being odd, though.
"And if it doesn't, we have our last and final plan. But that plan would mean giving up and not even trying. But it'll totally get the job done"
Ciel eyed him with suspicion. "How are you so sure?"
Smirking, Yuusuke gestured to himself. "Trust this hottie for once, won't ya?"
"Miss Katie!" Mey Rin called out with a wide and inviting smile from a nearby tree. Katie's head spun towards her before she was bolting ahead to the cherry-head and launching her into a bear hug. "Oh!"
"First, we go for the direct attack"
Shiro barked, wagging his tail as he followed his owner eagerly and greeting the maid in his own foreign language. "Ba-gau!"
"Haven't we attacked directly too many times?" Ciel said with a disgusted frown on his face again. He never wanted to do that again! It was too embarrassing. And with his own butler too!(A/N: Don't worry. Sebby didn't do anything rated to Ciel. Yet, that is)
"Don't worry. She might suspect something at first, but she'll go along with it after a few minutes."
"Hello there, Shiro!" She waved over down to him as Katie continued to hug her for her life. It seemed that she was truly enjoying her embrace. Finally after what seemed like ages, she let go.
"Heyyo, Mey Rin! What you be doing out here?" Katie asked with a brow raised. "Don't you have a job to do? You know, take a picture of Sebastian and all…?"
Bard narrowed his eyes. So she DID know. How was it that she was always a step ahead of them? Yes, he definitely knew that she was from a different world and all. Yuusuke had told him about what happened, but still… how was she able to tell that something was about to happen in such detail?!
Mey Rin's eyes saddened. "Actually, that was yesterday. And it didn't go too well… Sebastian was just… too fast, you see. And so we didn't succeed, but the Young Master didn't seem to upset about it." YES! She was an excellent liar! Although Mey Rin might not look like it, but she was actually quite reliable when it counts!
Katie gritted her teeth. "Grr… why didn't Ciel just tell ME to take a picture of him… that darn little Phantomhive!" Her eyes had been burning with fury as Mey Rin killed the urge to sweat-drop at her silly face. Her expression then softened. "To cheer you up, you wanna… you know… play around in the fields?"
Just then, Yuusuke, Finni and Bard appeared walking through the gate entrance of the garden. "Yuu-chan! Bardie-poo! Finni-chan!" Their eyes twitched in sync. What was with those nicknames anyway?
"Yo" Shot a lazy greeting from Yuusuke.
Bard pointed out with his thumb at him. "Yuusuke and I were planning on having a little smoke to lift our worries a little."
"What did you just say?" Ciel's voice came out low and scary.
Bard had backed away into a corner while Yuusuke had his palms held out. "Chill, chill! It's all part of a plan! I just made it up! Everyone knows what cigarettes do to your lungs! Who would be stupid enough to actually-"
"HEY!"
She glared at the two boys. "Smoking?" She gaped in disbelief. "Do you know what that thing does to your lungs?! It literally fills it up with black holes, and it can kill you, man?! You asking for a death wish, dude?! It doesn't lift your worries! It deepens it! Smoking ain't cool, man!"
Yuusuke tilted his head with a sulky frown and the creases on his forehead increased. "We're bored. What else can we do anyway? Ever since we failed yesterday's assignment given by Master Doofus himself, I think you've noticed that we've been down lately."
Her shoulders shook rigidly as rage filled up her body. "I UNDERSTAND FINNI AND BARD, BUT WHY YOU?!" She bit back the feeling to scream. "AND YOU WERE PART OF IT TOO? WHY DID NO ONE EVEN TELL ME?! WHAT AM I, DEAD?!"
Yuusuke and Bard shared a look to approve of proceeding the plan. "Maybe Ciel just didn't wanna bother you, you know?"
She then huffed away with her nose held high. "Tsk! Doesn't wanna bother me, blegh! He just doesn't think I can handle it! That MUSHROOMING PHANTOMHIVE!"
T
"Aa-choo!" Sneezed the Phantomhive. "Is someone talking about me behind my back?"
T
"Yay!" She shrieked out a 'Hurrah!' and hugged the puppy, rolling them both on the flower field. Mey Rin then followed after her and landed right next to her, unable to stop her laughter. Yuusuke, Finni and Bard were already amongst the flowers, staring at the clouds peacefully. Although this was just a mission, that didn't mean that they couldn't enjoy themselves.
The puppy struggled from Katie's grip. As soon as she let go, he left her to venture the fields, intention to find something interesting to bring back to her so that she'd smile. Katie watched as he disappeared through the tall plants and then turned her gaze to Mey Rin who was busying herself by counting the petals on a flower.
The garden was bright and vibrant. The colors of the different types of flowers were bouncing and splashing around everywhere her eyes almost pained. The sun was still high up in the blue sky, a few big clouds here and there. There was even one that looked like Draco Malfoy from Harry Potter. But then again, Draco Malfoy's face was ugly enough to look like anything. This part of the manor was never shown in the anime nor the manga, which only made her grin wider. Only her… only she and Yuusuke… they were the only ones from their world who knew about this place in the manor…
"What's up with that grin?"
She re-opened her eyes to find Yuusuke's head hovering above hers, upside down. "It's just a smile… what's wrong with smiling?" His shoulders sagged down in dissatisfaction at her answer. He sat back cross-legged, now playing her hair.
"Your hair is getting longer…" He murmured slowly, eyes on her closed ones.
"Mmhmm… I should give it a trim…" She hummed. "It'll get in the way, but a part of me wants to keep it long… what do you think?"
Huh?
How odd… she usually never asked for people's opinions… just did things her way. Not caring about the judgements people made about her. The haters. She didn't listen to those stupid complaints, but he could tell she never liked them. It was like this person wasn't even Katie, and yet he also knew that it was just something new. He didn't know too much about her.
But he wanted to.
"Keep it long"
"Alright"
"But you look pretty with short hair too"
…
"Did you just call me pretty?" She sent a quizzical frown his way. "In any case you don't know, I'm not interested in coitus and getting my heart stomped by a playboy."
Shrugging, his fingers found themselves tangled in her brown locks. Soft… "I called you pretty because you really are pretty."
She scowled. "Who are you and what have you done with my butler?" He let out a short chortle. She sighed. "I don't find my hair pretty. I don't even take care of it in the first place anyway… and yet, you called me pretty. Hilarious..."
Yuusuke found himself shaking his head at her antics. She really was weird. At times she'd brag about herself till she'd think she was the ruler of the world, and at these times she'd sink herself down lower than she knew. So very weird, she was. Modest but a snob. Was that possible?
No.
He wasn't stupid.
He knew that she was simply joking whenever she boasted about herself and her abilities.
He was the Usui Prodigy for goodness' sake!
But that was what confused him.
"That's what you think. You can't even see your own hair unless you look at a mirror, so I'd suggest you listen to those who can. Like me. And I think your hair looks nice the way it is. You don't have to dye it, or even do any crazy things on it." Yuusuke advised. "That'll just destroy it. Your natural brown hair is better than most girls."
Smirking coyly, she poked at the spot in between his eyebrows. "You're just saying that because I ain't Japanese…"
Yuusuke killed the urge to deny that fact. It wasn't true, but if he continued to deny it it would sound more like a lie.
"Tell me one thing that you like about my hair. How it makes it look pretty to the guy who's slept with mostly every girl in our school"
His fingers continuously twisted themselves in her hair, sinking into more comfort as he rolled his eyes and averted them to the flower just inches away from his knees when an idea came to his mind. "Shall I make it prettier for you to see then?"
She blinked, not understanding what he had just meant. "What do you mean by that?"
It was as if time had stopped when he gave her the most gentle and sincere smile she had ever seen on his lips. His tantalizing eyes were soothing, and it only made her own widen slightly.
"I'll make you realize something you never seemed to know"
T
"Do you remember that bird that we encountered with at Houndsworth?" Mey Rin mentioned to Finni as they sat knees together, facing each other. "She was so cool! I wonder if we'll be able to meet her again!"
Finni nodded bluntly. "Yeah! But you know… I think that it was a male bird!"
Mey Rin chuckled before shaking her head firmly. "No, no… she was definitely female!"
"No, no! He was a male! His name was Captain Twee Twaa Man! A MAN!" He argued. "Right, Bard?"
"I have no idea what you're talking about"
"Oh that's right! He wasn't there! Miss Katie wasn't there either!" Mey Rin then remembered. "Don't worry! We'll tell you all about it so that you don't miss out! Well you see…"
Although it looked like Bard was busy watching Mey Rin and Finni chat animatedly with each other, he was completely aware of Yuusuke and Katie's interactions. In all honesty he actually didn't really care what those two were talking about, but their actions were so strange.
Moments ago, Katie was ballistically running around like a maniac. Mouth open, eyes wide as plates and screaming frantically as though she was on fire.
Yuusuke was simply scowling at her in annoyance. He even talked to the blonde about how troublesome it would be to finally get her to shut up.
And yet, there they were, acting like that never happened and that they were the best of friends. He watched as Yuusuke's fingers buried themselves in her thick brown hair, brushing against her ears every now and then. Their mouths opened and closed, talking to each other normally. He didn't know what they were talking about, but hell did he want to know.
All of a sudden, Katie's eyes closed. He almost thought that she was asleep.
The way he was now smiling down at her wasn't fake. Wasn't pity. Wasn't friendly. Wasn't kind.
It was that smile.
That kind of smile you have when you're in love with someone. He knew it well.
They weren't acting like friends anymore.
No.
They had upped their game.
They were now lovers.
T
Once I was finally done with my masterpiece, my fingers halted to a stop. A smiled graced my lips as I took in her lovely presence. She was finally asleep. It seemed that the soft strokes I had given her every now and then had finally taken a toll on her. As her chest lifted up and down, the flowers in her hair never moved.
Yeah.
I was decorating her hair with flowers.
No.
I ain't gay.
Purple, yellow, pink and green clashed together on her hair. It had cascaded down her back earlier, but even I had to agree that I wrong. She wasn't pretty.
She was exquisite.
Her mouth parted slightly, taking small breaths. Even though she had no lip gloss on, her lips still seemed to glow in the dim light of the sunset.
Oh, wow.
My eyes drifted off to the horizon.
It's already that late?
Before I realized, three shadows formed in front of me, telling me that there were three figures behind me.
The moment of truth…
"She's finally asleep."
Is now before us…
"Tell me; what is the strategy you have planned?" Ciel questioned.
"Katie's chakra is just like sonic waves. The chakra sends out waves, and when it hits something, she'll know that there is someone there. She will then recognize it, and then discover that it was us. Which is why we can't go snooping around. She'll find us."
"Katie can also hear heartbeats, every small intake and outtake of breath, she can hear it all. Even the sweat trickling down your neck when you're nervous, and even your vein pulsing rapidly. This is the challenge you chose us to overcome"
Ciel felt a sudden rush of pride. He was rather impressed that the joking girl was quite excellent in the field of observing from afar.
"However" Mey Rin raised her head in curiosity at the sudden confidence which Yuusuke's voice boomed with. "When asleep, her hearing abilities weaken, and lower to the same level as a normal human's. The chakra, however, remains. She can feel something coming up from afar. And when that happens, it'll spike and alert her. Thus, she awakens from her slumber and discovers our plot."
"Catch her while she sleeps?"
"Yes"
"But she'll sense us!" Bard cried out in exasperation. His mind was completely bottled up! Why was she undeniably skilled anyway?! She's just a darn 14 year old girl. "It's impossible! Why are ninjas so hard to beat?!"
"Which is why she has to know that we were already there."
"HUH?" The trio including Ciel gaped, still not catching on.
"If she had acknowledged our presences before she fell asleep and that , then her chakra will welcome us; for it is already comfortable. We are not foreign to the chakra since it trusts us enough to lower its guard and allow Katie to fall asleep. Thus, we need her to fall asleep WITH us there as witnesses. Once she is asleep, we can take a picture of her and at the same time we have an advantage since she'll be stationary. Satisfied?"
I nodded at them before looking down at Katie again. Bard quickly set the camera up quietly. As he did so, I continued to watch Katie's movements, ensuring that she really was asleep. Finni and Mey Rin watched from behind, remaining stoic and silent. We had only one chance.
"But riddle me this, Phantomhive." I stopped before any further decisions could be made. "Why so interested in Katie's personal life?"
It was no surprise to me when he snapped like a little twig. I'm sure he never realized how obvious his movements had been towards Katie. What a prick...
At that right moment , my stomach churned in discomfort, what da?
"Is there something wrong, Yuusuke?" Mey Rin asked worriedly.
"You look like you're about to throw up" Bard commented, brow twisting slightly. And he was right. I really did feel like throwing up. Was it from disgust? Or was I growing overwhelmed on how right I was about those two.
About Ciel liking Katie.
My hand trembled at the thought and I had the urge to grip onto something before my fingers would eventually fall off; of course, that never actually happened. It was just a figure of speech.
Funny how that was exactly the way I had felt.
"Well?"
I asked, my voice fortunately never faltering. I saw him swallow down before shifting his eyes away profusely to avoid my narrow gaze on him. I could tell that he was hesitating from the blush creeping up on his neck. The nerve-wrecking boy swiftly turned away with a chuckle.
"N-No particular reason. Must there be a reason for my concern regarding her? I am her employer who is simply curious in her affairs!" Even a blind idiot could see through such a white lie.
Me, being the despicable one who never liked the boy, decided to tease him a little further.
"Ohh?" I echoed with mischief glowing in my eyes. "Is that so? Then, hmm..." I hummed, walking by him just to intimidate him. "Then, is the reason why you're always so hellbent on scolding me because you're... I don't know" Swinging to the side, I grinned. "jealous?"
And oh boy, was it working.
Twitching his only visible eye, I saw him fidget. "Y-You..." Shaking in fury, he managed to calm himself down before he reacted in any dangerous or inappropriate manner. Seething a curse through his gritted teeth, he continued. "I... am... not... jealous"
...
"Jelly"
"I just said that I was not! I am not jealous!" He spluttered, face already getting red from both embarrassment and anger.
I couldn't even hold in my laughter. "You like Katie~ You like Katie~! Ciel likes Katie~!" I sang in a teasing tone as I danced around the room like a jest. Although Ciel was furious at me, his eyes never left mine.
Mey Rin, Bard and Finni deadpanned as they watched us argue childishly. I'm sure that Katie would've wanted to see this.
"ENOUGH!"
BAM!
The Phantomhive lost it by slamming both his fists on the wooden surface, stopping me from taking one last step. Angry Ciel is a very scary Ciel~
"Fine!" He stubbornly crossed his arms like a brat, looking away from all of us. "I'll admit it" I couldn't actually believe it...
Ciel was actually...
"I like her"
A TSUNDERE?!
He even had the red cheeks and irritable look and everything! The embarrassed expression that revealed that he didn't want to say it, but he said it anyway. He was stubborn, and a damn brat! He was a shitting Tsundere!?
To those who didn't know;
Tsundere is a Japanese character development process that describes a person who is initially cold and even hostile towards another person before gradually showing their warm side over time.
Wasn't that...
...
...Ciel?
"Dude" I stuttered out. "You're a tsundere?"
His brows creased in confusion at the new word which was not familiar to him since it wasn't in the English dictionary. "A what?"
Shaking my head, I got back to the real topic. "So... you like her?"
Ciel tilted his head. "I... think so"
Wow.
Did Ciel just say he thought so?
Doesn't that mean he was unsure?
Wow.
"Well... what do you like about her?" Piped up Mey Rin who so decidingly decided to speak up. Oh God, this is gonna be one of those girl talks again… Yes, I said again. Minami, Haru and I have conversed upon this topic, and I labelled it as 'girl talk' since it is VERY girl-engrossed...
"Well..." He started out, hesitating. I quickly grabbed a chair to take a seat. This was gonna take long.
"I..." He dragged the syllable on and on. "... like her... voice...?"
"Is something wrong with you?" I asked a bit rudely.
"What?"
"Her voice is damn loud. I sometimes feel like I'm going to go deaf!"
"Yes... well... even so... I like her voice." I noticed Mey Rin smile as Ciel continued. "Though it might not look like it; she never really realizes that she has a loud voice on. When I commented on it once, her eyes saddened. She told me that her loud voice was one of the facts why she does not have many friends. She is unable to control it, she says. That she knew that she got a bit too excited at times. But still... she does not see that having a loud voice can actually access many other capabilities. For example, public speaking."
"Okay... but she wasn't really talking about that" Bard told him. "What Mey Rin was talking about was what about that nutcase makes your heartbeat accelerate."
Ciel frowned in distaste. "Ugh... fine!" Mey Rin giggled at his stubbornness as he started off again, nervousness gone this time. "Well... I like her... smile."
"Her smile?"
"You mean that doofus smile she gets when she gets all giddy?"
"Are you blind, Young Master?"
"Silence!" Sending a glare towards us, we shut up immediately. "She... she has a perfectly beautiful smile! Although it might look all stupid, idiotic... maybe a little insanity added to it too. Even if she looked like an idiot! But- but still!" He shot out exasperatedly. "She... she… truly"
He quieted down when he got to the last word.
"Looks... happy"
Leaning down, I positioned my face just inches above hers. She really does look happy when she smiles. My insides tingled when my eyes landed on her lips again. They were small, but her face was small too. Petite little girls weren't really my thing since certain people found it a little lolicon-ish.
"She truly looks... happy"
6 inches
"She has a perfectly beautiful smile!"
Why did my heart ache when those words exited from his very lips?
5 inches
"I like her voice"
And when I knew it was so damn obvious too!
3 inches
"To me, she looks most beautiful when she smiles."
Someone tell me why it hurt so badly?
2 inches
"Even if she looked like an idiot"
A smile then graced her exotic pink lips, and it was then when I discovered...
1 inch
"I like her"
Ciel was damn right.
I leaned down onto her and gave her a short and chaste kiss, startling the trio behind me.
She looked most beautiful when she smiled.
It was like electricity had been flowing through my very veins as her lips moved slightly against mine. It was almost as if time had stopped just for me to take my time with her, but it wasn't my choice.
Dread filled my heart when I parted from her.
"Don't leave"
T
Mey Rin had odd thoughts in her mind. She knew that Katie was from a different world. She's known ever since she heard about it one morning from Sebastian. He had warned about them being odd and strange, and he had been right as always.
Yuusuke was handsome, yet peculiar. He was unexpected, like he was changing his mindset every now and then.
Katie was the strangest, yet fun and exceedingly friendly. She had been kind, and she always protected her from the clutches of the playful Bard and Lizzie; but she would never forget that Mey Rin could protect herself better than even Katie could.
Didn't she miss her family waiting for her on the other side?
And Yuusuke, he had kissed her. A secret kiss that made even her cheeks burn in excitement. Who knew he had it in him to steal Katie's first kiss?
Finni suddenly found an interest in his feet, and continued to stare at them. He always thought that he and her were alike; both special in their abilities. But the weird thing was how after Yuusuke kissed her, she hadn't been thinking about him.
Yuusuke was the quiet one, then. What had she meant when she said that? Was she breaking her promise? They promised each other to go back together, right? Why was she regretting it now? Who was this person who she had affectionate feelings about?
Was it Sebastian? No. no… It's obvious that she only looked at him as her ideal type.
Then, who?
Was it Ciel?
His eyes opened, linking the pieces of information he had together.
Could she possibly return his feelings for her?
It was clearly evident on his face whenever he secretly stared at her.
He had a crush on her.
A stupid, stupid crush. Ugh, how annoying.
Just what he needed;
Someone clinging into what was undeniably his!
His mouth frowned in disgust.
Wait, what?
What had he just thought?
That was… That was… he was only thinking about how it would be a hassle for them when the time came to go home! That was all! Yes! He wasn't jealous! Oh, Brits, he was definitely NOT jealous!
Dude, you kissed the girl…
His eye twitched in shock at the familiar voice in his mind.
And now you're saying that you don't give a shit about her.
Shut up!
Yuu-chan likes Katie~
Yuu-chan likes Katie~
He loves her~
"Hey, did you realize how oddly Miss Katie was acting?" Finni finally spoke up.
"OH!" Mey Rin finally came to realization. "She was talking about how she wanted Shiro to follow her back to her world… perhaps… she has forgotten about the poor child she has left back in her own world! And her husband who is—"
"—just how old do you think she is?!" Bard screamed at her with a vein popping at his forehead.
Finni wiped away an imaginary tear. "What a tragic story!" Bard gaped at him. Did he seriously think it was real? "But, Bard's right. Miss Katie's far too young to have a husband, Mey Rin!" Bard secretly saluted to him in triumph as he smiled in satisfaction. "She must've left her window open, so she's worrying about her house!"
SILENCE
"Idiots! Both of you are!?" He screeched out before slapping masks onto their faces, covering their mouths so that they couldn't utter another word. He sighed before wiping off some sweat from his chin. "We'll find out the truth soon enough"
"Is that so?"
Yuusuke's eyes hardened at the newcomer. It was him.
Dude, it is so damn obvious that you're jealous...
The trio shivered at the coldness of the voice of the person at the doorway.
"Why wasn't I told that you are done with the job I gave you?"
"Y-Young master…"
Ciel pulled off from the doorway and approached them with an impressed look. "It's a surprise that you would be done within just a few minutes, though" The trio sweat-dropped; of course their master would still act cool after hearing what they had just said, or did he not hear them? He peered into the container before humming in satisfaction.
"So it did work…"
They peered from behind and looked at the photo. "Yuusuke, who is this?" Ciel asked him, gesturing to the unknown boy in the image. A young boy at the age of 8-9 years old was seated next to Katie with a small smile on his lips as he looked down at her sleeping form. Their position was the same as Yuusuke's and hers before they had taken the photograph. He had black hair and dark brown eyes. He had Japanese features.
Yuusuke's head tilted in wonder. "Not too sure. I think that he's a friend of Katie's from the orphanage. Either that Toki-Toki boy or Ikobe."
"Orphanage?" Mey Rin, Bard and Finni echoed in surprise at the sudden revelation. "She was an orphan?"
Ciel nodded in approval. "Yes. She was. But according to her, something terrible happened to it. I am not too clear on those facts, but whatever it was, do not mention it to her. It might bring up bad memories." Advised Ciel as Yuusuke kept a small smile to himself.
Well now that was just adorable.
Yuusuke knew something about Katie that Ciel didn't; wasn't that proof enough that she was closer to Yuusuke than Ciel?
Oh, he just wanted to rub that in his face.
THAT IS JEALOUSY, YOU PIG-TWEETING-LADDY!
T
I stalked the halls lazily in my pajamas. It was time for bed, but I just couldn't sleep. I already noticed that today was the episode where Ciel was trying to take a picture of Sebastian.
"Then why wasn't I invited?! I could've taken a picture of him without any problems! I'm a ninja for god's sakes! GYAAAAH!" I grumbled to myself. I had my arms spread out, flailing them around at the same time. Just imagining someone finding me talking to myself would be so very embarrassing! Wait a moment; I wouldn't care! I've been called crazy loads of times!
Everyone was already asleep; including Ciel who was in the… "THAT'S RIGHT! MYAHAHAHA!" Ciel should still be asleep in the study room –if I'm not mistaken! I rushed over to Ciel's study room so then I can bother him or something. Sebastian was probably trolling him, and stalking him like a creepy pervert. Translation; Sebastian was taking a picture of Ciel with the Ghost Camera when he's sleeping. But when I arrived at the door, there was nobody there. I hung my head in defeat.
He's not here, I'm so lonely…
Lonely I'm Mr Lonely,
I have nobody,
For my own
I glared at Darth Vader who coyly grinned back. I exited the room and closed the door, only to find Sebastian staring at me like I was fresh meat, or something. I raised an eyebrow. "Yo, what's up?"
His eyes were slightly widened and…
Shit, his demon mode was on.
I quickly turned on my heel and made a move to escape-
BAM!
-only to find myself trapped with his body slammed against mine on the door of the study. He brushed his chest against my back as I cowered at the devil behind me. I felt him bury his nose in my hair. He took a quick sniff, and then headed for my ears to take a small bite- making my cheeks go red.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Darth Vader threw confetti in the air and started blowing horns all around my mind. My eye twitched in discomfort as he continued to run his tongue on my earlobe as if looking for something.
"Um… Sebastian…?" Even if my face was literally smooching the wooden door, I attempted to search for something, anything really, through his eyes. I was desperately in need of the playful Sebastian. All I found were pink, glowing slits. Sebastian the butler was gone, and replacing his existence was his demon side. And hunger. I struggled to escape from his embrace once more.
SLAM!
My punishment was even more painful than earlier. There's even a possibility that he may have broken a rib. He had pulled me back, brought me to the wall and slammed me back into it till it managed to leave massive damage. The wall now had a huge crack in it, from the spot where I had made contact with to the top, almost reaching the ceiling. My mouth flew open, letting out a ear-splitting shriek which muffled into the wall.
As if awakened, Sebastian let go of me. My knees buckled underneath me, making me crumble down to the floor. Oh… my ribs...
"Ah…." I winced at the pain My eyes stinged, and all the tears came falling. My… ribs… it hurts like… shit? Definitely shit… Why is your punchline shit every time?
He looked down, and finally became aware of what he had just done. He got on his knees. "Forgive me, Miss Katie. I-!"
I interrupted him like a dying idiot with a palm. "Save… it… my…" I gestured to my abdomen which was in agonizing pain. He wasted no time in tearing off my shirt, only to reveal the dark bluish bruise starting to form at the right rib- of course when he tore my shirt the cloth had still been hiding my shameful parts. I whimpered at the unbearable pain.
He then broke into a smile. "The injury is not fatal. You have no broken bones, nor fractures. Just a bruise." I couldn't find myself sinked in relief. It still hurt like… like… don't you dare say shit! Then… what do I say…? Like… like… It still hurt like…
"Crap…"
THAT'S THE SAME THING, FAGGOT!?
"Allow me to carry you to your room, Miss Katie. I apologize for my sudden inappropriate behaviour" Was… my birthday coming sooner than I had thought? Sebastian pulled my body towards his- trying to be as tender as possible. I assisted him by enveloping my arms around his neck.
I just wanted this day to go away...
T
Sebastian applied the cold ice pack to the bruised area and then covered her sleeping body with a blanket. He had never experienced keeping a Dimension Traveler alive before. He never gave them mercy. However, this time it was an exception to hold back, at least for now.
His plan was simple, yet genius. It was like killing two birds with one stone. He would keep her alive till the time she finishes her duties as his master's pawn. Which is when his master achieves his goal. After that, he can have both a soul and a Dimension Traveler for supper. The ingredients had already been prepared, he still had yet to cook them.
Her scent was getting stronger, too.
His eyes travelled back to her face. Tracing her jawline with his cold fingers, he felt her warmth radiating like a toasty fire in the middle of a winter forest. She stirred lightly, alarming him to snatch his fingers back swiftly.
And the time for her claim was coming fast.
When he found that she wasn't waking up anytime soon, he found his fingers entwined with hers. They were so small. So fragile. He brought it up to his lips to lightly press a kiss onto her knuckles.
He had to prepare.
"S-Sebastian… don't..."
His eyes glinted dangerously at the mention of his name, but it wasn't long till a smirk formed on his pale face.
For the next step.
T
I got my mind made up, man, I can't let go.
I'm killing every second 'til it saves my soul.
(Ooh) I'll be running, (Ooh) I'll be running,
'Til the love runs out, 'til the love runs out.
I bobbed my head back and forth as music filled my head. I loved this song, so much! It was just so… so… awesome! It was Love Runs Out by Onerepublic -an awesome band that I just couldn't get enough of.
I was in my bedroom, lounging around as I waited for something to happen. I didn't really have anything else to do... The other night which Sebastian attacked me was a week ago. My bruise had healed within time and a little visit from my healing chakra hand, yet I remembered to be wary of him. We also agreed to keep that night a secret. If we told Ciel or Yuusuke they'd probably be prepared with a reaction that might've been able to make me laugh till New Years'.
It was finally December, and that meant it was snowing! I loved the snow. I hated the summer because it's way too hot in the summer, and so shows my love for the winter! So I always left the window open so then I can feel the fake air-conditioning that 19th century London lacked.
KNOCK KNOCK
"Come on in" I murmured as I sat on the windowsill, looking outside. The door opened to reveal Ciel with Sebastian behind him. They were dressed for the cold, so I'm guessing that we'll be leaving the townhouse. And that meant that this was the next episode. Now, what's the next episode…? Geez, I freakin forgot! It should be the festival thing… or something…?
"Why are you wearing Sebastian's blazer?" Ciel asked, slightly perturbed by my clothing. He narrowed his eyes. "And why is your window open?"
"I like the cold" I answered, watching Ciel roll his eyes at my idiocy.
Sebastian smirked in satisfaction. He must be happy that I'm wearing his clothes. "It's no wonder you always fall sick, Miss Katie"
I glared at him. "Shaddup, butler. How dare you make fun of me? Tis' true; I like to fall sick. Why? So then I can skip school! MYAHHAHA! I hate school so much. So, I usually try to get sick as many times as possible. I know; 'that's bad, Katie! You'll miss school and you won't get to study!' I just can't help it! I don't mind studying, though"
Ciel heaved a sigh, shaking his head. "Katie, Katie... Don't you know the importance of education to commoners like you?"
I gaped at the insult he DARED to utter using that Phantomhive mouth of his! Oh hell no! He did not just say that!
"Firstly, I am NOT a commoner. I'll have you know that my adoptive brother is a very wealthy businessman! The CEO to Walker Ventures, actually!"
Ciel looked sarcastically impressed. "I see, and that is?"
...
"In truth I have no idea what Walker Ventures actually do. I mean, they have their own mattress department, their own fast food restaurant, a golf course, and even an aquarium. I still have no idea what their Main Specialty is"
Before Ciel could facepalm, I quickly continued.
"Secondly, I am completely aware of the importance of education. Knowledge is power. I know the saying, and I know that it's true."
Sebastian's head was then tilted in curiosity. "Do you have an ambition, Miss Katie?"
"Of course I do!" I shouted out in determination, now standing in the wallpaper of a sunset as I had my arms crossed in front of me. My pose was all badass whilst Ciel and Sebastian gawked in the back. "I have an ambition, and a dream to fulfill! I have to study, study, study and study! I already had a full plan set up ever since I was 11! And that is-"
"-No time. Get ready" The Phantomhive Earl ordered strictly by the door. "We are heading into town for a little, how you say, early Christmas shopping"
T
London was busier than usual. That was only to be expected since it was the time for winter and celebration. They were having a yearly event today called The Frost Fayre which always took place next to London Bridge on the frozen River Thames. It wasn't snowing at the right moment, but the weather was still as cold and there were still faint traces of snow piled up in the corners of certain buildings.
I was wearing an olive leather coat on top of my green dress. The coat actually only reached my waist, which was satisfactory to me. I looked down at my white winter boots which seemed more comfortable than it looked. Yuusuke didn't follow us, surprisingly. He said that he was going to spend time with Bard. But for some reason, he looked gloomier than usual. Apparently, MEN needed to have time to fish- IMAGINATION. So it was just Sebastian, Ciel and me today.
I had finally remembered what episode this was. It was the episode where Sebastian would enter that ice sculpture competition and impress everyone with his charm and awesomeness. I also remembered Lizzy was going to be here, also with Paula.
Hmm, let's see what else… there was also Abberline who would be here looking for the Hope ring, then there's Lau and Ran Mao who have a restaurant nearby. Ooh! Not to mention Undertaker's shop would also be here! I looked around, trying to spot the familiar shop.
Yatta! There it is! I could see that dull yet exciting store which had his insignia in the top front. Maybe I should go and visit him first? I could always have some tea or maybe take selfies. Oh yes, selfies with Undertaker sounded nice...
"Miss Katie" Sebastian called as I looked up at him. He was dressed in his butler winter outfit as usual, but he didn't really look cold. After all, he was cold-blooded himself! "The young master is currently talking to the inspector, Abberline. Shall we join him in the Chinese restaurant?"
I raised an eyebrow. Well, that escalated quickly. Was I really in my own world for that long period of time? "Oh, you go on ahead. I got a friend whom I'm meeting. I'll see you soon." I patted him on the shoulder.
"Where shall you be?" He furrowed his eyebrows peering into my face. I backed up, startled. I do NOT want you to sniff me! The only creatures that are allowed to sniff me are Shiro and Pluto! I will wait for you, PLU PLU!
(Bonus:
"It's true" I stated monotonously as I held up a scroll which had both Shiro's signature –paw mark- and my signature at the bottom. "We had an official contract."
"Ba-gau!"
End of Bonus)
"Chill. I know what I'm doing" I stammered before stroking his head softly to assure him –which surprised him slightly. Hey… his hair is actually kind of soft. I continued to pat it gently. His eyes roamed over my face as I felt my cheeks redden when he leant closer. "Your hair is soft"
He gave me a soft smile. "Why, thank you, my lady" I removed my hand from his head. He bowed lowly before retreating from me before I could even say bye or ask him what shampoo he used. What was that about?
I quickly made my way through the stalls and shops. I tried to focus on my own path and avoided all sorts of contact with any stall owners and such. I was a shopaholic when it came to food, candy, technology and other stuff. Once I finally realized that I had arrived my destination, I smiled in anticipation. Man, it's been awhile since I've seen him.
I pushed the fake door to the side and entered. "I'm home, honey!" I shouted. The coffin in front of me suddenly opened to reveal my adorable and handsome hubby whom I love ever so dearly –one can dream, can't she?
"Welcome back, little wife" Undertaker greeted with open arms. I gave him a warm hug. "Oh, your scent is already starting to show…" He muttered with a wide smile. "I wonder what Mr. Butler is doing about it…"
I gave him an incredulous look. "My scent?"
He shook his head. "Nothing for you to worry about, little wife" I don't know how to react when he called me 'little wife'. I suppose I'd be happy, but little? I'm not little! I'm 170 cm in height! That's tall for a 14 year old girl like me! I quickly brushed it off as he took my coat off and hung it somewhere in the room. He told me to take a seat while he prepared tea and biscuits.
And soon enough, we were having an afternoon tea together, basking in each other's presence. I was seated in his lap again due to the fact that I liked sitting on his lap; that, and although he was a grim reaper, he was exceedingly comfortable I had to admit. "So… how's life, Undertaker?" I asked, nipping into the bone biscuit. It was nice to actually have someone like him to comfort me just by being there.
"Hmm… entertaining enough" He replied, taking another biscuit from the container in my hands. He fed me another and I bit it from his hand, chewing it quickly. "I've been having many customers… some with the frostbite, and one who fell in the river…" I nodded understandingly. He must be talking about Tim, or Tom. What was his name again? "How about you, little wife? How is life being a Dimension Traveler?"
I shrugged my shoulders. "It's been adventurous. I recently adopted an adorable little puppy" I smiled playfully at the Death God. "He's a real cutie. But Sebastian doesn't seem to agree for some reason."
He hummed in interest. "Oh… a dog? How is Mr. butler handling it?"
I giggled. "He tries to ignore his presence in the manor and avoids him ALL the time" Undertaker only snickered when I told him. Seeing Sebastian uncomfortable like that was worth wild!
"Interesting… how did the Earl react to this?" He wondered aloud as he combed my brown hair with his fingers. Hehe, Undertaker is touching my hair… hehe…
"He was the one whom agreed with it. He didn't really have a reaction." I explained as the fake door opened and came tumbling down the notorious Abberline.
I smiled brightly as a greeting to the cute –unfortunately no longer single- inspector. "Hello!"
He looked upwards before reacting in a surprised manner. "Miss Katie?" I waved to him cheerfully as he got on his feet. "What are YOU doing here?" I was about to reply when he interrupted in a rushing manner. "Never mind that." His gaze turned to Undertaker. "I'm from Scotland Yard and I'm here on business. Therefore you are obliged to give me your cooperation and utmost honesty. Have you seen the—"
"HAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHH!" Laughter erupted from Undertaker as he wrapped his hands around me, clutching me tighter towards him. The whole fake shop began to shake as things started to fall from their shelves. Abberline seemed most alarmed as he struggled to keep on his feet. Once Undertaker's laughter had finally died down, Ciel and Sebastian burst through the fake door, startled because of two reasons.
One, Abberline had actually managed to make Undertaker laugh in seconds.
Two; I was sitting on Undertaker's lap again.
Did I mention that Lau was also present?
"You're amazing. You have definitely chosen the wrong profession. As a comedian, you could be world-renowned. Right, little wife?" I nodded, agreeing with him to be polite.
"K-Katie?" Ciel stammered while Sebastian sent me a knowing look that said; so this was what you meant. "W-What did you do?" He asked, turning to the clueless Abberline. He shrugged his shoulders nervously as sweat trailed down his neck.
"I just started talking like how I usually do" Words failed him as he was being killed by Sebastian's glare. "R-Right, Miss Katie?" He looked over to me for help.
I shrugged. "Yeah, he's right. But I guess his seriousness could be classified as funny...!" I started to giggle as Undertaker poked my sensitive parts under my armpit. I squirmed slightly in his grasp. "S-Stop it, seriously!" I shoved him away which caused him to fall down from the coffin. I gaped at him. "I-I… I am so sorry!" I apologized before bowing lowly. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" Damn, I just pushed my favorite character in all of anime. Not to mention that I loved him like he was my best friend –or even a husband! "Please don't have a divorce with me!"
"No, no. It's fine little wife" He chuckled patting me on my head after he got up. Ciel and Sebastian snapped a little at his new nickname for me. He placed a finger under my chin and brought my face upwards so that he could peer into mine, just like Sebastian had done earlier. "That face of yours truly is worth so much more, no?" He chuckled again. As I took time to take in his words, he spun me around to face Ciel and the others and gave me a back hug. Ciel scowled at us.
"What are you doing, Undertaker?" He questioned. "Let go of her" He ordered, but I could feel the death god smiling.
"Ooh, I can do all but that, Earl" He chided. "Now, what brings you here?"
Ciel rolled his eyes before immediately slamming the coffin with both his palms with his hood now down. "Tell us about the ring, Undertaker; the one that the body you disposed of this morning was supposed to have." He ordered as Undertaker and I began chuckling at their seriousness; so this must be what he felt when they asked him that question.
"There's a possibility that it was buried around the area he was found in" Abberline added. "I implore you on behalf of all the good citizens of London, such as yourself; please assist us with the investigation."
As Undertaker calmed himself, I continued to chuckle madly. "I have been highly impressed by you, Inspector." He then looked down at me. "Would you like to tell them where it is, little wife?"
I nodded excitedly before separating both his arms around me and headed outside, dragging a clueless Abberline by the arm.
"What is your relationship with that man?" He questioned, still slightly shocked at how close we were. I couldn't blame him. A 14 year old hanging out with a creepy yet awesome funeral parlor like Undertaker… keke!
I giggled. "Well… he's sort of my husband" I lied, which caused his jaw to drop in shock. Before he could even protest, I quickly cut him off with another giggle. "I'm kidding. He's sort of like an uncle of mine. He's a really nice guy, and I love him like he's family!"
However, I don't really think my words reached his mind. He was too busy having a trauma about hearing a 14 year old being married to a fully grown man who works as a funeral parlor. Uh oh…?
T
"Right here" I gestured at the ice sculpture of the woman who was wearing the Hope Diamond Ring on her finger.
"OHHH!" Abberline actually managed to make a perfect impersonation of 'The Scream'. Yuusuke, you have a rival! I, being the weird one, copied him for fun.
"OHHHHHHH!" However, I couldn't really do it as good as he did. Yuusuke, if only you were here!
Lau seemed impressed while Ciel was disappointed in himself for not realizing it sooner. "I guess one of the ice sculptors here just happened to come across the frozen ring, and in order to take advantage of it; they made it into the statue" Lau commented with arms crossed.
"Get it out, now!" Abberline –who just recovered from his shock- ordered the other two police officers.
"Understood!" I stepped away to allow the police to remove the ring, but just as they placed their palms on the beautiful sculpture, a voice emerged from our left.
"What are you doing, you ignorant whelp?"
We turned to the voice to find a fat man in a suit. He wore glasses and a top hat. If it weren't for the fact he was wearing a black suit, I would've believed that he was Santa; especially with that long, white beard. Behind him were the other judges whom were looked just as cross as he was. I then finally realized a familiar face who I didn't really want to see. I quickly hid behind Sebastian, hoping that I was hidden from the man.
"The holy maiden is something that will be presented to the winner." He nipped onto the white rose he was holding as millions of pink roses filled his background, leaving him off with a jaw-dropping aura. "You mustn't touch it" It was the Viscount Druitt.
GAHHHH! I TOTALLY FORGOT THAT HE WAS HERE!
WHAT DO WE DO!? Darth Vader ran a hand up her hair before running around in my mind. She was wreaking havoc in my brain.
My eye twitched in worry as I buried my face in Sebastian's back and clutched onto his coat for my life and pride. Damn, I really hope that he forgot my face. Oh please tell me that he forgot what I looked like!
"The contest judges?" Ciel echoed. "Why is he one of them?"
Lau nodded in agreement. "Wasn't he taken in by Scotland Yard for people trafficking?"
Abberline stiffened slightly. "He was released a few days ago."
Ciel shook his head. "Money, huh?"
Abberline took a step forward to explain the situation. "I'm sorry. Scotland Yard will have to take this statue into its possession now"
Santa-faker furrowed his white brows. "No! Even if you are from Scotland Yard; we will not permit anyone to have their own way at the Frost Fayre the peak of excitement for all the townsfolk."
Viscount Druitt stepped closer to the sculpture. "Beauty is something to be adored. Are you people trying to force shame on this beautiful maiden?" The viscount grinned at Ciel. "If you really want her, then just bring out enough beauty to satisfy her." The Hope Diamond ring reflected in the sunlight.
"As expected of one who loves fine art, beauty and cuisine," The Santa-faker commented. "it's as Viscount Druitt says; if you want this statue, you'll have to win it in the contest."
Ciel grinned. "I see. I can agree with that. The ring will belong to the one who wins the contest; it's simple and clean" Not when you have a demon on your side.
Abberline seemed stunned. "Master Ciel?"
"I will obtain that ring." Ciel stated confidently.
"That's a stolen object! It's also important evidence in the serial kidnapping of several young children!" Abberline paused, shocked at what he said. He quickly covered his mouth. Ash, huh?
Ciel looked satisfied. "I see. So that's why Scotland Yard is in such a frenzy searching for it"
Abberline cleared his throat as he regained his composure. "Even so, it is true that those in possession of the ring have met ill fates, one after the other. It really does fit its name of the cursed stone and yet you still…"
"Cursed, huh?" Ciel echoed his words. "Then, it really does fit me." He smiled, looking down at his own ring.
Undertaker finally chose that time to interrupt. "That reminds me; your ring also has a beautiful blue stone set in it, doesn't it Earl?" Ciel nodded. "You should be careful; diamonds are hard, but for all their hardness, they're fragile." No shit. "If you overexert yourself too much, it may shatter."
"What of it?" Ciel turned to him. "This body and this ring are both things that have shattered and been revived. As if I would fear them shattering after everything I've been through." I felt the familiar twinge of pride in my heart. That was Ciel, alright! That's my awesome friend!
"Win the competition, Sebastian"
"Yes, my lord" Sebastian's words echoed in my ears.
"Oh" The Viscount awed. "Who's that behind you?"
Shit. He noticed me! "My apologies; my lady is very shy" Sebastian made up an excuse as he patted my arms gently. I continued to hide my face in his back as the Viscount made his way behind me and Sebastian.
"Such an adorable girl" P-Pervert! "Eh?" He seemed surprised. "T-This hair…?" No! He realized! Sebastian quickly spun which caused my face to be buried in his chest instead of his back. He wrapped his arms around my torso.
"Please excuse us" He took my arm and walked me away from the Viscount. I didn't hear the following footsteps of the others –so I bet we were alone now. Once we were far enough, Sebastian let go of me. I let out a breath of relief.
"That was close" I muttered. "Thanks, Sebastian. I thought I was going to die there" I smiled as Sebastian. He simply bowed again with a smile. Then, he leaned into my ear to whisper to me.
"In return, will you pet my head like you did so earlier?" I blushed beet red. Was he freakin serious? I looked back at him. "Well?" I gulped nervously before nodding and petting him on the head. He smiled brightly. I swear; it was like he was purring. He was like a… cat!?
I couldn't help but think he was actually… kind of cute this way. Yet, still… I never thought that Sebastian had such a personality…
T
"And now we will commence the traditional Frost Fayre Ice Sculpture contest!" Announced the Master of Ceremony. Behind him were the lined up participants; Scotland Yard, the Irish Burglars, Lau and his assistants and finally Sebastian. I wanted to join too –if not for the risk of getting discovered by the Viscount himself. "The time limit is 3 pm! Well then, please begin!"
Ciel and I were amongst the crowd. I tugged on his arm. "Let's go look around, Ciel!" I whined aloud, dragging him away from the stage.
He rolled his eyes. "Shouldn't we just wait here?" I shook my head stubbornly, explaining how that was boring and useless. He sighed in defeat. "Alright"
I grinned in triumph. "Let's go!"
As we looked around, waiting for time to pass by; I noticed Drocell walking around, showing people his awesome musical box. I quickly ran up to him while Ciel was busy criticizing the fake Noah's Ark -that was supposed to be destroyed-like an old man. Seriously, he was like using that walking stick of his to point at it and the man who was trying to sell it. The sight of him doing that was so unbelievably hilarious.
"Hello!" I greeted the puppet. He looked down at me, unamused.
"Hello, Miss Walker" I raised an eyebrow in shock. How did he know my name? Did Angela tell him about me? Hm, she probably did. Is this her way of watching me, and monitoring me? Well, as I pass time, talking to the puppet master would be nice.
I eyed his musical box. "That's a nice box you got there, Drocell" I poked it with my forefinger. He continued to wind up the box. The melody of 'London Bridge is falling down' played in my ears. I instantly felt a nostalgic feeling. I remember hearing this song when I was hanging out with Mist in a mall. We were walking around in Toys'r'us and heard the song playing at the toddler's section.
He patted my head with his free hand. "Do you like this song, Miss Walker?" I blinked in confusion. "Make it out of skin and blood, skin and blood, skin and blood… make it out of skin and blood, my fair lady" I flinched before backing up in shock. What the freak was that…? "Bye-bye" And he dashed off stiffly, like a robot –or a puppet! NO! IT WAS MOST DEFINITELY PENGUIN-ISH!
I watched as his back minimized. What was that about? Not a moment too soon, Ciel returned with a satisfied grin on his face. Uh, oh… that was never good. I looked past him at the man who was… he was crying. Oh my god, what did Ciel do? I could see his pals trying to cheer him up by patting his back. I eyed Ciel.
"What did you do?" The grin remained as he shrugged lightly. He took my arm and dragged me off to another shop. I now know that Ciel… was an interesting boy who had the power to make a grown man cry. THAT'S A MAN!
We entered another store where there were toys, cool knick knacks and stuff. "Go on, get whatever your heart desires" Ciel clarified with his grin never fading. He was probably in a good mood from that satisfying argument with that man- whatever he did, anyway. So I looked around, hoping for something that I'd want.
The shopkeeper smiled at the both of us when a woman came over. "John! Michael wants to talk to you for a few"
John nodded before glancing at us. "I'll be right back. Can ya do me a favour by looking after the store while I'm gone. So sorry to trouble ya"
I smiled softly. "No problem"
He exited the counter and rushed outside. Now, Ciel and I were left alone in the small shop. The curtains which replaced the doors fell together in place, making it dark all of a sudden. The silence lingered in the air for a few moments before I broke it.
"So, what was your real intention in coming here, anyway?" I questioned Ciel as I played around with the toy in my palms. Ciel, who was standing next to me, looked around for something that would catch his interest.
"In all honesty, I was invited by Her Highness The Queen to attend this festival. After all, it hasn't been this grand since 1814. So, I decided to come to look around for anything interesting to fill up my schedule." He answered, looking back at me.
I didn't even think it was possible, but Ciel was actually growing taller. I mean, seriously. Before this he was just around my shoulder, but believe it or not, he was REALLY catching up to me. And he was catching up fast. Was he drinking more milk or something? He took a peek from my shoulders, since he was TALL enough to do so without standing on his tippy toes. "What do you have there?" Just as he said so, I felt his breath against my neck. It took almost ALL of my sheer willpower to keep myself from letting out a long shriek that would attract unwanted attention.
I simply breathed in and out slowly before finding my voice to answer him. "Just a small toy I thought looked familiar." I put it back on the counter and then spun around abruptly, finding my face just centimeters away from Ciel's.
Our eyes widened when my nose accidentally brushed against his. My mouth opened, then closed, then I repeated those motions till I realized that I must've looked like an idiot. We blushed at our proximity. I couldn't find myself to turn away from his eye. I never knew that the blue hue of his eye was actually beautiful. He really did have his mother's. "Um..." And what was even more stupid was that neither of us dared to move away.
"U-Uh..." His eyes then travelled downwards to where I suspected to be my lips. "Katie" He spoke my name loud and clear now. Whoa, where did he get that voice? "May I... try something?"
My eyebrows knitted in suspicion. But I shouldn't be suspicious of Ciel. I mean, he trusts me. So, I should trust him. He gave me clothes, food, a place to stay, and even permission to keep Shiro; not to mention loads of chocolate. Oh, what a good mother, he is. I have no absolute reason to why I should be cautious of Ciel Phantomhive.
"I suppose you ARE indeed good for my goals"
"Very well, you have my permission to stay in this manor till my goals are achieved."
"After my goals are achieved, you are to leave and keep your lips shut about what you know, understood?"
"I have a feeling you and I will never get along."
I swallowed the lump in my throat that so happenedly just appeared. I bit my lower lip, hesitantly.
Ciel Phantomhive is a dangerous boy.
The little boy made a contract with a demon.
He wouldn't hesitate to kill anybody.
As long as things went his way.
Even his own aunt, who had thought of him as her own son.
What makes you think you can trust him when you're just another one of his pawns?
He'll push you away once you've finished your duties.
"I have a feeling..."
He is not your friend...
"... that you and I..."
You're nothing to him...
"...are never..."
You can't trust him...
"...going to get along"
"Yeah, sure. Go ahead"
T
Ciel Phantomhive felt like an idiot. A blubbering one at it, too. A blubbering idiot. Yes, that sounded fitting. But no, it wasn't. Oh dear Earl, what was he to do? He had accidentally spat out a question.
Just a question. You know like, 'May I take your coat?' or perhaps, 'Can I offer you a glass of champagne?'. It was one of those questions. Except, those sounded normal.
Ciel's question was ridiculous.
"May I... try something?"
Right out of nowhere, too.
He tried blaming it on her- secretly. After all, she had been the one who had flusteredly reacted to his question and spun around when he was just too close to her! Their noses had made contact as well, and what was worse was when he asked that question!
But he couldn't blame her. It was his fault for invading her space and peeking from above her shoulder. He now blamed his curiosity.
"Yeah, sure. Go ahead"
He almost stumbled on his own feet, aghast, if not for the perfect stability of his winter boots that Miss Hopkins had selected for him in this particular season. W-What did she just say? He couldn't believe it either; she just answered him seriously.
He expected it to be more like this:
"Now, Ciel! What's up with that question, huh?"
"Sure, sure! As long as you give me chocolate in return, haha!"
And then a hug would be initiated.
However, it was different.
She looked... determined, but a slight twinge of strain was visible through the creases on her forehead. "Try it"
Ciel had to run his tongue on his own lip when he felt them dry. Damn the nervousness and all! He exhaled shakily, then commanded her swiftly. "C-Close your eyes." He was furious when his voice came out soft. He was male! He was male! He could do this!
Katie nodded slowly, then her emeralds came to a close and disappeared from his sight. It was as if time slowed when his face hovered just millimeters away from hers. He could feel her breathing on his face which made his heartbeat accelerate. Maybe this was a bad idea... He chewed on his lower lip, and reduced the distance between them...
... and finally pressing his lips on hers.
