Ch.14 Marriage
(This chapter takes place a few months after Kasumi was brought to her father by her mother)
Shido had been busy with work lately so most of the time Kasumi was being watched by either Tohka or Yoshino a few hours each day while he worked at his job. Shido was grateful for the help from the girls since he did in fact want the best for his daughter. But in a few days it would Kasumi's first birthday (or at least close to it since they did rough math to come up with a date) so he was thinking of a gift for her, and after much thought he decided to buy a new rattle that he had seen in a store window that looked like she would love it. On the day of her birthday Shido had was going to be late from his job and told the girls to celebrate without him and that he would give her his gift in the morning. The small apartment was being filled with all the girls Shido knew (minus Kurumi) who all were ecstatic to see the baby despite knowing what happened between Shido and Kurumi. The day past with tons of awes and so cutes being flung around the apartment, and Kotori placed an order for a large cake for everyone to share. Later that evening Shido had gotten off work early since his boss was nice enough to let him spend time with his daughter.
By the time he had gotten home everyone who was attending was the celebration had passed out making him suspicious. He went into the baby's bedroom and much to his surprise someone was sitting in chair rocking and holding her, the person was Kurumi and she was just as surprised to him as well.
"Shido!? I thought you were working late tonight"
"How did you know about that…better yet what are you doing here?"
"…I couldn't stay away and I knew that tonight would be the best time"
"Did you do something to the others?"
"Nothing serious I just put sleeping pills in the cakes frosting is all"
"Why go to the trouble couldn't you just teleport into the room?"
"I lost my powers if you must know, so you don't need to "save" me anymore I can't kill people as well as I could before"
"Do you still actually believe that? I didn't want to just stop the killings I wanted to help you escape that life and be happy"
"Do you still feel that way now even after all this time?"
"Of course I do! Look at what's happened between us already we have a daughter"
"YOU have a daughter, me I'm not the motherly type in case you haven't noticed"
"You're lying, because if you truly felt that way then you wouldn't be here now holding that child"
"And if I am?"
"Then I'm going to make sure that you also take responsibility"
"Shido are you saying what I think you're saying?"
Shido exits the bedroom and grabs something from his own room, and comes back with a small box in one of his hands. He opens it and reveals a ring inside with a small diamond embedded in it.
"Shido you do what I'm like, are you sure?"
"Kurumi listen since what happened between us special to me, and since then nothing has felt really right to me"
Kurumi's heart begins to race.
"So I'm just going to ask….Kurumi will you marry me."
"Shido… I didn't know you were the type to hit on single mothers"
"Kurumi come on"
"My answer is yes"
Shido puts the ring on Kurumi's ring finger sealing their engagement.
The next day Shido told everyone the news of his engagement, but Tohka was not thrilled about it, and got into an argument with Shido after hearing the news.
"Shido why are you marrying and not me!? Do you not want me around anymore?"
"Tohka it's not like that, listen I don't want you to take this the wrong way"
"Then what is it about, is it because you want Kasumi to have a mom because I can be her mom"
"I told it's not like that it's…."
Kotori intervenes and is on Shido's side.
"Tohka listen to me Shido has feelings for Kurumi that are special between them, and he also cares for you and wants you to be part of his life, but this is different they want to be together in a different way"
"Is that true Shido?"
"Yeah of course it is, I want you to be part of our life, and to help with the baby when we need it"
Tohka tears up a bit but accepts Shido's decision. Months later the wedding was all ready, the invitations were sent, the catering was taken care of, and the dress was picked out. Kurumi was being prepped by her bridesmaids which were Tohka and Kotori since the other girls couldn't be trusted except Yoshino. Kotori puts on her little sister attitude for Kurumi.
"You look so pretty big sis"
"I've never seen this side of you Efreet"
Kotori reverts to her true self.
"Get used to it because that's what the baby's going to see most of time"
Tohka begrudgingly helps with the makeup and gives Kurumi the stink eye for most of the day.
"Here hold still"
"Do I detect jealousy from you princess?"
"No I just don't like you"
Kurumi says something serious for once.
"I'll do my best to make him happy"
Kotori responds to that statement.
"You better, break his heart and I'll burn you alive"
"Promises promises, but seriously I won't"
The time came for everyone to take their seats for the ceremony; Tohka sat between Reine and Kannazuki the latter of which had a smirk on his face.
"Well I know a couple of young people who's going to have a lot of fun tonight"
Tohka takes these signals and says with a sour expression.
"What are they going to order another baby from the stork?"
"Stork?"
Reine turns her head and whispers something into Tohka's ear.
"THEY DO WHAT!?"
Everyone hears that and turns their heads to Tohka having a very surprised look on her face; Kotori snaps her fingers and Kannazuki is dragged away to be punished for opening his big mouth.
"No not the internment camp again please I'm begging"
"Kannazuki you are ordered to go to the reception hall and rearrange all the dishes in a certain order then you are to return here and clean up the this entire building from top to bottom without stopping for a week, and even if you finish you are no to stop for anything, but just consider yourself lucky I'm in a very good mood today"
Kannazuki changes his scared expression to one of joy and lets out a happy yell. Everyone then returns to their normal sights and the ceremony began. The ceremony was going very smoothly and everyone was being respectful, but even so some of the other spirits either start crying or cringe at the idea namely Miku. The vows were made, the couple said I do, and had their wedding kiss sealing their marriage. When they finish Kurumi looks at the other girls and smirks at them while licking her lips, which pisses them off.
"Kurumi was that necessary?"
"Can't a girl have fun at her wedding?"
The two walk run off to the reception hall to enjoy the evening with Shido's friends and then proceed to the honeymoon since the girls agreed to watch the baby while they were gone and truly start their marriage.
