Notes: So just on one little thing not directly related to my story. I reread the story of Negima up to the "end" and decided without a doubt that I would NOT be including bits from the Magic World arc. Just the Negi-Rakan fight is reason enough. It would make certain character's so close to gods as to make any enemy either so broken that anyone else would be useless, or make them deus ex machina's for the entire thing. Either way not cool. As a side effect, READING 350 chapters of manga takes effing time. Enjoyed it, and remembered both why I loved negima so much and a few neat little things to file away for later.

I'll have a bigger end notes, I'm a little uneasy posting opening notes when my mind is so fresh on what I'm about to start writing.

Negima Star Chapter 14: Twisted Fragments

Whats going on? Where am I? Slowly but surely, Kagami opened eyes. Looking around her she was surprised to find she was in an infirmary of some sort. How did I end up here? She tried sit up only to find her body responded slower than it ever had before. Nearly every muscle ached. I feel like I've been fighting a bear...

"Kagami!" She heard her sister yell, "You're awake!"

"Hey Tsukasa, I'm right here you know. I'd be awake even if I hadn't been after a yell like that."

"Kagami..." It was then Kagami noticed the short blue-haired girl standing next to her sister. Her mind tugged at her. Like something just out of reach but then it was gone.

"Yes? Have we met?" Her near dead-eyed emotionless stare gave Konata all the affirmation she needed that Kagami wasn't playing with her. Still she had to try.

"Kagami, its me Konata..."

Again Kagami's mind felt like it was struggling to remember something, then she had it. Or so she thought. "Ah! So you're Konata, Tsukasa told me a lot about you, Its great to finally meet you." She said cheerfully. "She just goes on and on about-"

Konata was gone, out the door in a flash, she nearly knocked Asuna, who was being helped to the infirmary, down as she flew down the corridor outside.

"Onee-chan..Do you really not remember Kona-chan?"

Kagami was confused. "Remember her? You only met her a week ago Tsukasa.

"Onee-chan, what grade do you think we're in? Is Tsukasa confused again?

"We just started 10th grade last month." Seriously Tsukasa how could you forget something like.. Tsukasa?" Tsukasa had just started crying.

As Asuna entered the infirmary, supported by Ku-Fei on one side and Kaede on the other, she found herself for once, without any energy at all. Man Setsuna was NOT playing around today was she. Asuna wasn't sure she was going to be able to do much of anything else, but she realized something. And yet even then, she really could have killed me with that last attack, but she didn't. Maybe she's not as irrational right now as I thought.

Still Asuna wasn't going to be fighting anyone for a while it looked like, after two days of consecutive beatings even she wasn't ready for another fight. Despite that...

"Looks like even the monkey can't keep fighting forever." In spite of this Ayaka looked a little worried.

"Can it Ayaka, its been a long day..."

"How do you think I feel? I've been stuck here for the last 6 hours, despite the fact I was fine when I woke up, while they let you go and, from the looks of it, get into ANOTHER fight. What the heck is going on around here?"

Asuna could help but make a joke with Ayaka on edge like she was. "Oh these? I just tried to get between Setsuna and the person she loves, that all."

"Setsuna did that? She should get expelled! Its one thing to start a fight its another to to.."

"Relax Shota-queen, She could have killed me if she wanted to, and she didn't even want to fight me, I forced her."

Ayaka stopped for a minute, mouth trying to form words. "If that's what she can do NOT wanting to fight, I pity anyone she does want to hurt..."

"No kidding, still she had her reasons, and while I might not like," Or know" them, she has proved how strongly she feels about it."

"Asuna.." Ayaka's voice had gotten serious again. "What is going on around here? First Eva's house blows up, and she ends up badly hurt, along with Chachamaru, Konoka gets hurt, WE get attack by a stranger who apparently wanted you dead, and now Setsuna has gone completely mental for some reason." She paused again. "Never mind the fact that I just saw the dean and two teachers carted into the other infirmary ward on stretchers. I might not understand this at all, but what I do know is that in the last couple days things have gotten completely out of control."

"Ayaka." For the millionth time, Asuna began forming some lie to tell Ayaka, some fantasy idea that was just plausible enough to work. But she stopped. I swear, she's so dense sometimes it hurts, but even she deserves to know if she's getting hurt by it as well. "Ayaka.. I think its time I told you a few things.."

Konata wasn't sure how long she ran. All she knew was by the time her legs gave out, she was far away from the school and on an island with a library connected to the mainland by just a single long bridge.

It can't be true,she's just still a little confused from the accident, she'll be fine and...Konata was panicking, she had no idea what she was going to do.. I can't confess now, I'd look like a madman, confessing to someone who just met me.. But she wasn't sure what she could do. Confessing to Tsukasa had opened her heart more than she had expected. She didn't know what to think now. What if she doesn't? What are you going to do then? I don't... She clenched her fists. Yes I do..I know exactly what I have to do...

Konoka had been lost in her own feelings for a long time when her eyes finally began to open again. Eh? Whats left? The last one couldn't have been that long ago, what more could there be for me to see?

Setsuna had just left the school and was headed into the forest. Her mind was a swirling vortex of emotions, much like usual, only this time they felt.. different Konoka couldn't quite place why until suddenly she felt it.

I hope I didn't hurt Asuna too much back there..I really didn't want to fight, but I must protect Kono-chan... The worry and grief coming on Setsuna was astounding, and he words were shocking as well.

Konoka was shocked, this was the first time in all of this she not only had felt Setsuna's emotions, but actually read her thoughts to along with it. What does she mean she hurt Asuna?! What happened?

So lets see Setsuna, You've managed to get yourself expelled, Asuna probably hates you and Kono-chan will never want to see you again. If you were trying to ruin your life this is a wonderful start. Setsuna sighed heavily and could only shake her head. Konoka could feel how devastated she was inside but despite that she was still going. No matter, even with all of it, Kono-chan will be safe. Even if my own life is forfeit that is a small price to pay. Konoka wasn't sure what to think.

Oh Set-chan, I don't hate you at all. Setsuna stopped, shock filling her mind. Did she hear me?!

She watched as Setsuna shook her head and resumed walking. She might have. Just then however Setsuna's alert level skyrocketed.

"Whoever is out there, show yourself."

"No use trying to hide from someone like you is there?" Setsuna's sword was already in her hand before the large man left his hiding spot within the trees. He was holding a sword not that dissimilar from Setsuna's own, albeit somewhat thicker. The way he walked gave off the full impression he knew how to use it.

"Who are you?" Setsuna was already getting set, she had no idea what she was up against, but the aura this man gave off left he little reason to expect a positive outcome here.

"Why waste words, the last time I tried that I got fooled by your friends," He set his feet. "Not this time." He vanished and Setsuna just had the time to locate him as the attack came from above. He's fast!

She parried his his attack into the ground, stepping to the side and then jumping backwards. In a blink he was on top of her again. Sword flashing like lightning at her face. Blade met blade as they danced through the forest, strikes growing faster with each strike. This is not good. From within Setsuna, Konoka agreed completely.

"You have got to be kidding me Tsukasa, I mean seriously MAGIC? That's crazy."

"I agree with her Asuna, "Ayaka said from across the room, "That is absolute madness. I mean really, you expect me to believe that sweet Negi-sensei is some evil magician, or that half our class could know this any not me, the class representative, preposterous."

"Ayaka, just calm down and I can prove it." Asuna said, exasperated. Kagami paused from talking to her sister and watched.

"Adeat!" Asuna's sword appeared in her hand and he began to glow with a faint light. "I might not have much energy left, but as long as I don't do anything, it should be fine just to show you." Ayaka and Kagami were both left speechless. Wait if what Tsukasa said about the magic is true...

"Tsukasa, are you serious, We're 17, its been two years since my last memory AND that person who just left has been a friend of ours for most of that time?"

"Uhuh, Onee-chan, its true. Kona-chan has been our friend for a long time now.." And I can't even remember her face now.. Kagami once again felt like she was forgetting something important, but it remained beyond her grasp. Well whatever it is, my memories have to come back eventually.

"I suppose we should find her so I can apologize then, I might not remember her, but if we were friends its the least I can do."

"Um, Onee-chan... I think it might be better if you gave Kona-chan a little space right now, she's taking it pretty hard, she's got a lot on her mind and I think it would be a good idea..." Shesh, Tsukasa is acting so grown up, what the hell have I forgotten exactly?

"Asuna, why.. why have you been hiding this from me for all this time you big dummy?"

"Its Negi-kun's secret to tell not mine, but now things are getting dangerous... I just didn't think it would be right to let you get hurt and not even know why..." Ayaka wasn't sure how to respond. Asuna only ever LIKED seeing me get hurt, she must be pretty worried to change that... WAIT!

"You said Negi-kun? Do y-y-you two have something ELSE you've been hiding from me?
She was blushing now.

"Oh come off it, you're the shota not me Ayaka, there is nothing going on between me and that twerp, you just get close to someone when you're constantly putting your life on the line together."

Well, at least she still thinks its him I'm after.. "Who are you calling a shota you barbarian?!"

"Pervert!"

"MONKEY!" The two were now grappling in the middle of the infirmary, injuries ignored as an all to familiar "rivalry" flared up once again. Even missing the subtleties of it, Kagami and Tsukasa could only sweat drop.

"Why in god's name would I want to train a twerp like you in anything, let alone magic? Isn't that you're teachers job?"

Evangeline was overlooking the rebuilding of her cabin by Chachamaru and the schools robotics's team. They were making fast work of it, even with the adjustments they were adding in to help prevent this sort of issue again. Behind her a very Determined blue haired otaku was taking nothing but yes for an answer.

"I'm NOT joking. Everyone was talking about you like you were this strong mage, and Negi-sensei looks like the type to go slow.. I can't take that risk.. I'll do whatever it takes.." Evangeline turn to stare at her.

"BAH, you haven't even been in this world three days, I've seen kids with more magic knowledge that you, Even if I wanted too, it could take weeks to make you worth anything at all, years probably. AND I DO. NOT. WANT. TO. SO. SCRAM!." With that Eva turned back to her house.

GRRR. I will be strong enough next time, she HAS to train me. Konata pulled out her practice wand,or at least what was left of it, and pointed it at Eva's back. She mouthed more than said the words. A Massive ball of fire flew from her wand at Eva, but just as it was about to hit her, she vanished.

The next thing she knew Konata was flying through the air, head reeling. Suddenly she was just floating, looking down she was at least a hundred feet up. "That takes guts girl, or a lack of brains." Eva was floating not far from her. "Not many people would even consider that, let alone go through with it." Konata panicked, she no longer had her wand, she didn't remember losing it but it was gone. She closed her eyes. "What you going to do now girl? No wand, no hope, about to fall to your death? For what? Some stupid wish to be a witch? I don't have time to waist on fools like you and their pointless goals."

At pointless goals, something inside Konata finally snapped. KAGAMI! As her eyes flashed open, Eva was blasted back a little.. "Wha-" Without truly understanding what was going on, Konata raised her hand towards Eva and white hot almost liquid fire shot towards the vampire.

Eva had been caught of guard by the initial blast, but regained her composure even in the face of this totally unexpected twist. Well now, this IS something interesting. She skillfully dodged the first strike. 'Lic Lac La Lac Lilac" Eva looked up at the girl and was again caught of guard, What in god's name is that girl doing?

Konata was floating, energy of all sorts were flowing around her. Fire,Water, Earth, Wind. Lightning,and even to Eva's horror, Dark magic swirled in a vortex, and it she was starting to lose control of it. I have to stop this now, She might have the power, but she doesn't know what to do with it. I hope this doesn't kill her... "Nivis Tempestas Obscurans" A truly massive ball of ice and dark energy formed above Konata. As it fell towards her, she felt it more than saw it. Again without understanding bu with a raw power even Eva was in awe of, she fired upwards at the ball with all of the energy swirling around her. Not good..Eva could only watch as that blast tossed her magic aside like a plaything as it shot off into outer space at ever increasing speeds. I feel sorry for whatever planet that thing hits. Well what no- Before she had time to worry about it however..

"Kagami..." the energy around Konata evaporated completely and she began to fall. Eva caught he but it was clear she was spent. As Konata blacked out she heard. "Well girl, I think I've changed my mind.. You will be a fine student after all.."

This is really not good. Setsuna had yet to land a single strike against the man, thankfully he had yet to hit her either, but nor had he even given her a seconds rest. Doesn't he need to breath? I don't know if I can keep this up, I'll have to stop him. For the first time in the fight she saw a slight opening. "Shinmei-ryu style Zangaken!" Her sword flashed forward much as it had against Asuna, however this time..

"You'll have to do better than that," The man's sword shot up, not just blocking the strike, but casting it aside with one hand, He other came up into Setsuna's stomach. "GAH!" Setsuna staggered backwards holding her gut with one hand. That strike...That that's impossible. GAH. Unfortunately she was all familiar with that attack. In fact it had been less than an hour since she had used it herself. Or one ver similar to it.

"Where..where did you learn that from!" she shouted at him, blood forming on her lip even as she did.

"Where? Where indeed."

This is bad. VERY very bad. Kono-chan...

GAH! First of all, I did NOT like writing the Konami in this chapter at all. I mean I loved writing it, but not what I was writing itself. That was brutal... Never let it be said I'm unwilling to make my characters suffer. Sorry to anyone who was hoping for an immediate lesbian glomp fest when she woke up. I debated that, even got support for it from a friend who read it, but it felt to... I dunno profitless? Yes I went there. It felt like it wouldn't be very good in the long run so instead I decided that all four of my main characters should be in pain.(not really but that's how it turned out so...) I added the Asuna-Ayaka bits to keep it from getting to brutal without some form of relief. It was Also planned anyways (*Spoiler* I mean seriously in the manga she lived to 115 just for a chance to see Asuna again I mean holy _ *End Spoiler*), but I might have lightened those two up a bit more than originally scripted to help even me survive the rest...

Note: Nivis Tempestas Obscurans is an incredibly powerful ice magic attack of Eva's.

Also I did a LITTLE research and found out the LS girls all met near the beginning of their 10th year of school, and this story starts near the end of their 12th..so yeah two years or so gone. (I am so sorry Kagami, really I am...)
