Chapter 14

September 1st 1975

Vega had returned home a before having to return to Hogwarts. Castor noticed that his sister was indeed in a much better mood and was grateful for the trip she took. He hated seeing her as hurt as she was before she left, but it seemed as though a summer away was just what she needed. Neither of them brought up what had happened though. They were currently standing in Kings Cross Station with their parents. Castor was holding Vega's hand.

"Are you sure you're ready for this V?" Castor squeezed his sister's hand as their parents walked through the barrier.

"I can't keep hiding from him Cas. The summer away was great but I need to face him."

"Alright well if you're sure let's go" Castor led his sister through the barrier. When they arrived on the other side Vega took a deep breath and looked around.

"LILY! ALI!" Vega noticed Lily standing there talking to Alice, she run straight to them hugging them both.

"V! Your here. We didn't know if you were coming back or not. How are you doing? How was America" Lily looped her arm through Vega's while they standing walking back towards Castor.

"Of course I would come back. Do you think I would leave without letting you know?" Vega grinned at both of the girls.

"Come on lets go find a compartment. Then that way we can talk without the boys trying to butt into our conversation" Alice pulled Lily and Vega towards the train.

Castor had found Remus sitting in a compartment with Peter. "Hey guys. James and Sirius not here yet?" They both looked up.

"Nah I believe they should be here soon though. Is V here?"

"Yeah as soon as we passed through the barrier she spotted Lily and Alice and ran off" Just then the compartment door opened, James and Sirius fell through laughing.

"What did you two do?" Peter moved over so they could sit next to him. Sirius spotted Castor and instantly stopped laughing. The two of them had barely spoken since April.

"Hello Castor, how was your summer?" Sirius was trying to be cautious; it was then that James stopped laughing as well.

"It was fine, a little lonely but what can you do. How was yours with mother dearest" Castor smirked at Sirius giving them the hint that the past was in the past.

"It was horrible it took even longer this summer to escape to James' I think she was hoping having all the Death Eaters coming and going all summer long that I might change my ways and stop hanging out with the half breeds and blood traitors. I overheard talking to father about finding me a suitable wife; I didn't hear enough of the conversation to know who they're planning though."

"I wonder how she will react to the news that the Monroe's are what she would classify as blood traitors" Peter squeaked.

"Oh that will be brilliant. I hope it happens next summer, or at Christmas. I would love to see her head explode." Sirius grinned.

They had been back at Hogwarts for nearly a week and Sirius had been trying to talk to Vega but he had no such luck. The first weekend back at Hogwarts Sirius had spotted Vega leaving the common room and decided to follow her in hopes of cornering her. He had followed her all the way to the astronomy tower, when he followed her in he stood in front of the door not allowing her to leave.

"Vega" Vega turned around and noticed Sirius standing there.

"What do you want?" Vega just sat at the edge of the tower, with her feet hanging over the side and head resting on the rails.

"We need to talk"

"What would you like to talk about? Oh wait have you heard that your parents ask if they could set up a marriage for us?" Vega laughed

"Yes and no. I heard they were looking for a suitable wife for me but I didn't know who they had in mind. But that isn't what I wanted to talk about"

"Let me guess, you want to talk about what happened in April?" Vega sighed before turning around and facing Sirius.

"Yes I do. First I wanted to apologize" Sirius walked over and sat beside Vega once he realised she wasn't going to run.

"I know you're sorry. I'm sorry for how I acted; I shouldn't have let that get between our friendship. I just couldn't deal with you treating girls like you were. You would date one for a couple of weeks and then break up with them. Than a few days later I would hear that you had another girlfriend and the process was just repeating itself until I found you in that classroom."

"Then why were you so hurt?"

"I honestly don't know. I spent the whole summer with Jess trying to figure it out. I think in the end I realised I was hurt because of how you were treating the girls. It made me rethink our friendship." Vega didn't like lying to Sirius but it was better than the truth.

"What do you mean V?"

"Hmm. Let me put it this way. How would you feel if you found out a guy had treated me how you treat girls" Vega watched Sirius' face as he thought about this; she watched his face changed from confused to furious.

"I would want to beat the shit out of them V"

"I know you would. But still doesn't change how you treat girls. I hated seeing that, it made me think you didn't care about girls. Sirius it made me think you didn't care about me. I suppose seeing you having sex with her was just the cherry on the top" Sirius looked at Vega and realized that she had tears in her eyes.

"V I really am sorry for what happened. I suppose I never realised how you would see things, you always seem to be the one reason with stuff like this" Sirius put his arms around Vega and she leaned into him.

"Please don't cry V"

"Oh right I forgot, you can't handle crying girls" Vega looked up and laughed at Sirius

"Haha very funny. So are we good now?"

"Of course we're good Sirius, we always have been sometimes you're just an idiot"

Vega and Sirius then sent the rest of night at the tower talking about their summers and the idiotic things Vega had missed out on while in America.

The following night The Marauders had snuck out of the Hogwarts and headed towards the Quidditch Pitch in hopes of finally getting the transformation down pact.

"I think I have finally figured out this" James sat on the ground and started attempting the transformation. Everyone was just staring at him, eventually they got bored and the boys went to their own transformations while Remus and Vega were going over more healing spells. It wasn't until they heard a noise they all looked up and noticed the elegant Stag standing in front of them.

"James..." Vega whispered to the stag that was now in James' spot.

"I can't believe he actually did it" Remus grinned at the rest, this meant the most to him knowing he wouldn't be alone during the full moons.

"That's it. I have to get this. If James can do I can too" Sirius huffed and sat concentrating. Vega went over to James and took in the beauty of his Stag. Eventually Vega heard a bark and turned around and noticed Remus standing next to the big black dog.

"Oh look at who the mutt is" Vega laughed while Sirius growled at her.

"V be nice. But he does look like a mutt" Vega grinned at Sirius

"So that is two down, two to go." Remus looked at Castor and Peter still sitting on the ground. Sirius and James had started running around the pitch playing with each other. Vega was watching her brother with interest; she could see the characteristics that suited both James and Sirius with their animal counter parts. Sirius was incredibly loyal to his friends while James was intelligent. She was interested to see what her brother would turn into and then it happened. Castor had turned into a lion.

"Holy shit..." Vega looked shocked, not knowing what was going happen both James and Sirius were harmless animals while Castor had turned into a lion his body being much bigger then James and Sirius.

"Oh wow Castor you did it" Remus ecstatic.

Castor had walked over and rubbed his face against Vega, Vega smiled at him knowing it was still him in there while she began rubbing his face.

"Why can't I do this" Peter complained as everyone else attempted to turn back human.

"It's alright well help you" they all went over to Peter and starting helping him work it out.

"Remus, maybe while they're helping Peter we could come up with the nick names? We know 4 out of 5 animals."

"What do you mean 5?" Remus looked completely confused

"Remus, you turn into an animal as well, you might not have a choice but you still do anyway."

"Alright fine what do you have in mind?"

"Well I was thinking for you Moony and maybe Mane for Castor. They all hint to the animal but wouldn't give it away and plus it just adds for secrets and when we say only for Marauders everyone just lets us be" Vega was smiling; it was the first time that Remus had seen Vega actually smile in a while. Lately she had been fake smiling making everyone think she was happy but he and Castor knew the difference.

"I like it; maybe you should ask Cas what he thinks though. I was thinking maybe Prongs for James. Those things are amazing on his Stag."

"I like it and I think we should call Sirius mutt" Vega laughed.

"I don't think he will like it, umm where did Peter go?" Remus looked up at the others and realised that Peter was now missing.

"Oh he's just the rat on the ground"

"A RAT!" Vega screamed while running and hiding behind Remus, she couldn't stand rats. She was terrified of them and she knew this wasn't going to be fun.

"Oh great" Castor groaned, he knew exactly how she would react and hoped she wouldn't.

"V it'll be fine, it is only Peter not a real rat" Remus hugged Vega.

"I know. But at least you all managed it. I'm proud of you all" Vega smiled at all the boys. "Remus and I came up with some ideas for the nick names now we know your animals. I suggested Moony for Remus and Mane for Cas and Remus suggested Prongs for James. What do you think?" they all thought about it for a moment.

"I like it, what about Sirius and Peter though?" Castor walked over to his sister.

"Well up until a minute ago Peter still hadn't completed it, and V suggested mutt but I don't think so" they were all quiet for a minute thinking of the last two nick names for the boys.

"I've got it" James spoke up getting all their attention

"What's your idea then?" Sirius was curious

"Padfoot and Wormtail?" Sirius and Peter thought about it before agreeing to it.

"Alright so we all have nick names, but what about V?" The boys looked at Vega.

"It doesn't bother me, I don't turn into an animal its fine and plus I do have a nick name, V remember?"

"She's right guys"

"Exactly now turn back into that lion Cas, it's amazing" Vega grinned at her brother, he let out a sigh before transforming back into the lion

Vega smiled and walked over to her brother, the lion was stunning and she loved running her fingers through the mane. Remus had walked over to her joined her once the rest of the boys had turned back into their animals.

"Vega you look so happy tonight"

"I am, the boys finally managed this so you won't be alone for the next full moon and Cas is a stunning lion and his mane feels amazing"

"We're going to have to get into the habit of the nicknames"

"I know, I still think we should have called Sirius mutt though" it was then Vega heard a growl behind her, she turned around and saw the black dog standing there.

Vega smirked at him before walking over and scratching him behind the ear, Sirius then began rubbing his face against her. "Who's the tough dog now" Vega teased Sirius but all Sirius did in response was lick her face causing her scream and Remus couldn't help but laugh at her reaction.
