The Knighthood of Jack part 3: Toothiana's rebirth
It was early in the morning The guardians had left Morpheus's cottage. They had met her in front of the house where they said their final goodbyes.
Just as Jack, North and Tooth stood far enough a way to give Madeline and Bunny some time before heading their way to the Lunar Kingdom.
Madeline smiled and said, "I guess this is goodbye". She said sadly as she hugged Bunny thankfully it was morning and he was not in his guardian form yet. Otherwise he would have to pick her up for them to hug.
Bunny smiled and said, " You could always come with us we could use someone like you".
Madeline shook her head and then said, "Think about me as a last resort okay, I do not handle conflict well plus it has been centuries since I have been in my true form I need to regain my strength."
Bunny rubbed the back of head nervously and then glanced back at Jack who gave a soft smile and gave him the thumbs up
Bunny started to turn red and sputtering and stumbling over his words and managed to say "I will come by a-and visit".
Jack rolled his eyes and used his staff to create a small gust of wind forcing Bunny to crash his lips on her cause Madeline to let a small squeal with surprise.
Tooth covered her mouth with amusement and shock. Tooth turned towards Jack and grabbed his hand and smiled.
Jack grinned evilly as he picked her bridal style making Tooth let out a surprised squeal of her own. Jack began to take off in the air forcing Tooth to wrap her arms around his neck.
"Jackson overland Frost you better put me down now"!
"Oh come on Tooth you need to live a little and have fun besides why would I let you go from this height"?!"
"Because I have wings I will be fine just let me go". She screamed with fear and anger she wasn't used to being treated this way, she is afraid she will do something stupid like kiss him, ask him to be her king.
Tooth is scared of her feelings for Jack, everyone she loves almost always dies or gets corrupted like sweet little baby tooth. She was afraid of Madeline's prediction she does not want to be the cause of his demise.
Jack pulls her face towards him his eyes gazing into her own. His eyes flicker towards her lips before looking at her with a soft gentle look on his face the look of love.
"Tooth you worry too much you shut the world out, kept yourself from being loved by someone; you have cared for your people now its time for someone to care about you." He pulls her back to that his hands are on her waist and she is looking at her.
"Jack you don't understand I have a duty to protect children from the darkness, to protect their memories, that includes every child including my own sister and I could not save her. I can't let anyone in it is too dangerous".
Jack nodded and said "Yes I do I nearly lost Emma to the darkness but you and king Moon saved her. Remember the real reason I'm here remember my promise I made you. We are going to rescue her, I will rescue her I promise you with my life I would".
Tooth rested her head on his chest as he swayed her slowly as they began to slow dance in midair he spun her around and whispered in her ear"I love you"
Tooth gasped with shock and then flung her arms around his neck and said"I love you too thanks for being here Jack".
Jack hugged her and said, "I wouldn't be want to be anywhere else except by your side".
Tooth blushed and said, "Ugh ridiculous where do you come up with all those cheesy lines girls actually fall for this". she said as she looked away from him in embarrassment.
Jack laughed and brushed a few strands of hair out of her face and said, "There were no other girls just you".
Tooth looked at him with surprise and amazement as she grabbed his hands with her own as she looked at him longingly as she gazed at him. She leaned in towards his lips.
Jack looked at her with surprise this is the first time she made a move. Usually, he was the one who initiate contact but now for the first time the socially secluded fairy queen made the first time.
Just as he began to lean in he was forced to pull away by a loud crash forcing Jack and Tooth to look over at the source of the sound.
"There you two are we just got a call from Manny Jack's knighthood ceremony has moved from next week today we got to hurry and snow globe to the Lunar kingdom!" North said as the sleigh hovered against the stone wall of the mountain surface.
Bunny sighed and said, "North I told ya to Wait Frostbite and the Sheila were having a moment".
North looked at Bunny with surprise and said, "Really I did not know they were dating".
Bunny sighed once again and said, "They have been flirting with each other since they first met and you just now noticed what what about when we camped near the lake and they came back all wet?"
North looked back and forth between Jack and Tooth finally understanding the situation. For the first time the jolly man felt torn. It was not unheard of for guardians to fall in love however Tooth is no ordinary Guardian.
While, Bunny and North's guardians forms were created during their Knighthood Tooth's human form was created for hers. Meaning she is the only guardian to have her true form come when Manny sees fit.
Did Jack love Tooth for her personality or because he is poor and marrying Tooth will bring him stability for both him and his little sister. North shook his head and then said, "Jack walk with me".
Jack looked confused and a little startled by North's intensity but nodded in understanding. He gave Tooth's hand a soft squeeze, and then brought her hand towards his lips as he bowed and pressed his lips gently against her knuckles.
He then brought his lips towards her ear and whispered in his most suggestively flirtatious voice "I will talk to later your majesty".
Tooth blushed and shivered with pleasure and surprise as she watched Jack walk towards North as they walked towards the woods. Leaving Bunny and Tooth near Madeline's cabin.
Bunny waited until they were far enough away and pulled her towards lake. "Come here Shelia".
Tooth looked at him with concern and said, "Bunny what is wrong"?
"You need a haircut your hair has gotten too long it might get caught on something or get in the way, here sit on the rock while, I get my knife".
So, Tooth sat patiently waiting for Bunny to work his magic. At first she felt amused at the idea of Bunny cutting hair, but decided not to question it too much. Tooth barely noticed when Bunny came back and ran through his hands into her hair and began to cut her hair, all she could think about was Jack. His clear brown eyes that would become a sparkling blue when he used his powers, his laugh, his sense of humor, how protective he was of his sister and her friends he would be a great provider a great man.
When it came down to it he was the real deal the full package. What did she have to offer? A kingdom full of warrior woman who would scorn her for settling down with a man, her tribe did not allow men. They were a Matriarchy they did not welcome men.
Any boy born was send away, any man they layed with was a one time thing. No woman in her tribe was married unless they defected from the tribe. She could not be with Jack it was against everything her people believed in and she could not defect from the tribe she was the queen. She could not leave.
Jack was beautiful inside and and out. She did not deserve him. He deserved a normal life, with a normal girl if he knew what I really looked like he would not want to be with me. ... She thought with despair she looked down at the lake her reflection looking back at her and for a moment she saw bird like features and wings she gasped with shock and horror before she blinked and sighed when she realized that it was just her imagination.
She looked at the bracelet around her hand and rubbed it absent mindedly silently thanking King Manny for her granting her a human form. She never took it off since she got it , it is the only thing that maintains her human form she could not bare for Jack to find out her guardian form was what she really looked like.
"Their I think I did ya justice what do ya think I think you look amazing. I used to do my little sister's hair she would have wanted me to share my gifts with the rest of the world, I never would have thought I would be a hair stylist but, life makes unexpected turns".
Bunny said with embarrassment and pride the two contractions interwoven together harmoniously Bunny has always been a walking contradiction he was soft, kind, nurturing, to his friends and those closest to him but he was also rough and hostile in battle.
So, when he finally set the scissors down to reveal the final result she could not believe her eyes she looked powerful, strong, a true warrior queen. She had a short pixie cut with feathered out bangs. She looked down and all the discarded hair and smiled.
She was glad they were gone she felt lighter her hair took so long to maintain she was glad that she didn't have to worry about it.
When she turned to look at Bunny he was flabbergasted by her sudden hug and tears spilling down her face.
"Thank you".
"You're welcome".
