Nico's POV
"Nico!" I felt someone shake my shoulder. When I opened my eyes, I saw Andrea who just woke up and Thalia with her hand on my shoulder. I looked around and my eyes landed on Percy and a monster.
"What is that?!" I heard Andrea exclaim behind me.
Before I even realize what's going on, I saw Thalia throw her dagger to the monster, turning it into dust, and the monster's dagger on Percy's stomach.
"What's going on?!" I panic.
I immediately rushed to Percy to stable him, as well as Thalia. Andrea is still confused like me and I looked at Thalia for questions.
"An empousa attacked Percy. We need to get out of here. NOW!" Thalia yelled. The whole bus is now panicking. The people are either screaming or sitting on their seats - scared or shocked, I don't know. I wonder what they saw.
The bus is still going but we rushed to the front, where the door is. Thalia and I supported Percy while Andrea pushed the button to open the door. The driver shouted, "Hey! You can't open the door!"
Andrea ignored him but another guy yelled, "Hey! Where are you taking him?! He just killed the girl!"
The people started to panic more and some of them tried to get us. We immediately jumped out of the bus, almost getting killed by the incoming car, and ran to the side of the high way. When I looked back, the bus is stopped on the side of the road.
Andrea looked at me, "It's not allowed to stop in the middle of the high way but I'm pretty sure they called the cops." As if on cue, the police's sirens echoed from nowhere.
"Let's go!" Thalia said. I hold on Percy tightly as well as Thalia. Percy looks worse. His wound keeps on bleeding and he's getting heavier, like he can't even walk on himself.
We immediately entered the woods and kept on running with a limping Percy. Neither of us said a thing. Good thing, Andrea carried mine and Percy's bag. When we're far enough, I stopped.
"Let's lay Percy here. No one can see us here." I said.
We laid Percy under the big tree and the three of us just stared at him. "What are we going to do?" I asked them, since I don't know anything about healing people.
No one moved, until someone uttered a word from behind.
"You need a help?" said a boyish voice. All of us turned around with our weapons in hand and to our shock, a monster that has sea green skin and blue eyes is standing near us, looking directly at us.
I gripped my sword and was about to attack when he said, "I don't mean any harm. I am here to help."
"What are you?" Thalia asked with her dagger still aimed at the monster.
"I am a sea dragon. Can I take Master Perseus somewhere? He looked really really sick." Before we could even react, he lifted Percy to his back and in a blink of an eye, he's gone.
"Wait! What?!" Thalia yelled. She suddenly ran and both Andrea and I chased after her.
I don't know what gotten into Thalia's mind, but what really bugs my mind is that, why that sea dragon called Percy 'master'? As far from what I can remember, no onecalls Percy 'master'. And Percy doesn't have a dragon.
Thalia suddenly stopped running that I almost ran into her back. Her face looked confused and then suddenly she ran again.
"Thalia, wait!" I yelled. She never stopped running and when she finally stopped, we came face to face with a lake.
"Hey, you!" Thalia yelled as she pointed her finger to the dragon in the middle of the lake. "Why you did suddenly took Percy from us?!" Thalia looked so furious and scary. Her face is crimson red from the running and possibly from her anger.
The dragon bowed his head, "I'm sorry, Lady Thalia. Master Perseus is on verge of dying, that's why I took him here in the lake." He said sincerely. His body is still underwater and only his neck up to his head is visible.
"W-what do you mean dying? He's still conscious when we took him out of the bus!" Andrea suddenly asked with confusion laced in her voice. Finally she said something! I almost thought she's not here.
"The poison that's in the empousa's dagger is deadly. It can kill you in an hour." He said calmly.
My heart thumped in my chest really hard as I felt all my blood rushes out of my face. We're not going to lose Percy. He will survive and we will finish this quest. We will not lose him because an empousa. I will not lose my bestfriend.
"Where's Percy?" I asked, my voice almost a whisper.
"He's in a safe place." He said as he swam towards us. When he reached us, he lifted his body up and motioned his head to us. "Hop in."
"What?" Andrea asked. I noticed that Thalia's still in shock about what the sea dragon said about Percy. She's really pale and worry is completely written all over her face.
When the sea dragon stayed quiet and never answered Andrea's question, I decided to hop in the sea dragon's back. Nothing will happen here if we will keep on gawking over what the dragon said.
Andrea gave me a confused look and I just motioned for her to hop in, too. Andrea hopped in and we looked at Thalia who followed on suit without another look. As we settled in the sea dragon's back, it immediately dived in the water; freaking the three of us.
I felt Andrea wrap her arms around my stomach as well as Thalia's hands clutching on my shirt. My hands we're gripping hard on the fins on the dragon's neck as my heart thumped really hard on my chest. This is not like riding a hellhound or shadow traveling, this is worse than that. All I can see is blur and it's really, really cold, like my whole body is wet.
When we rose up from the water, the first thing that I noticed is that my whole body is dry. Literally dry, but when I heard someone gasp behind me, I immediately looked up, what I saw shocked the hell out of me.
It was the Camp Half-Blood. Yes, it's still the Camp Half-Blood that we went before, but the thing is, the whole place is wreck. From this afar, I can see the trees are lying on the ground, there's some smoke coming out of nowhere, the plants are withered, there are no naiads playing on the sea shore, and it looks like no one is in the place.
"Where are we?" Andrea questioned which more like a whisper because of the damage in front of her.
"Camp Half-Blood." Thalia said in barely a whisper.
I am too shocked to say anything. This place is my home. This is where I met people and made friends. This place is important to me. I don't know what I supposed to feel. I don't know if I should cry and mourn over it or I'll just watch it from afar. I just… I don't know.
"What happened here?" Andrea asked out of nowhere.
"I think your question will be answered if we go over there." the sea dragon said as he swam towards Camp Half-Blood. As we approach the sea shore, I noticed a guy sitting alone. And when we're finally on the shore, I recognized the guy, and both Thalia and I ran towards him.
"Grover!" I yelled. He was startled by my voice and when he noticed us, his expression turned into something that I can't recognize.
"Nico? Thalia? What are you doing here?!" Grover said in a whisper. "And who's with you?"
"She's a friend of ours. Now, what happened here? Why is this place a wreck? Where are the campers?" Thalia bombarded him with questions. Grover looks like he's going to cry at any second.
"They… They're gone." Grover whispered and now he let his few tears escape from his eyes.
"Wh-what do you mean?!" Thalia looked at him with wide eyes.
"There's… There's no Camp Half-Blood anymore."
We sit around a bonfire and it's awfully quiet in here. Like really quiet, even though we're just few feet away from the sea. No one dared to speak or make noise, even the sea. I still wonder why the sea's like that. Is Poseidon giving us sympathy or something?
"She changed." Grover uttered that startled the three of us.
"What?" I asked.
"Annabeth changed. Like a lot."
"Ahh… That bitch?"
"Nico." A low voice laced with threat startled me. I expected it to be Grover but when I looked at Thalia, I realized I mistaken her voice to be Grover's.
I opened my mouth to say something but she changed the subject. "What happened here?" She asked Grover.
Grover blinked and his eyes hardened. "Many monsters attacked Camp Half-Blood, and unfortunately… We lost."
"W-what do you mean? And how did the monsters entered Camp Half-Blood? From what I can remember, the tree is still healthy." I said as I glanced at Thalia.
"No. I-I don't know how. Even Chiron doesn't know. Yes, the tree is still healthy, but the camp's barrier… It was destroyed. We don't know how that happened. And it's harder to know how that happened since we don't have any connections to the gods-"
"What?!" Thalia exclaimed. "Why you don't have any connections to them? And where is Mr. D?"
"They closed the Olympus. After what happened to Poseidon and Athena, Zeus decided to call all the Olympians and after that, they closed the Olympus. We haven't heard anything from them since you that." Grover said as he pointed at me. "Days after your departure, we we're just startled by loud bombing in the middle of the night. We realized we we're being attacked when we saw the cabins burning, and only few campers got to fight since most of them are still sick by what Poseidon did."
"Poseidon did what?" Thalia asked.
Grover sighed, as if saying that he's got a long explaining to do. I mentally said good luck. "He sent a huge sea current to Camp Half-Blood just to make Percy escape from the punishment of the Olympians."
"And after that," He continues. "A lot of campers died, and the whole Camp Half-Blood was a mess. The attackers stayed here for few days, like they're looking for something or someone."
"How'd you know that?" Andrea asked, eyeing him suspiciously. What's wrong with her?
"I go here every day, and I spy them. I always go behind the bushes."
"What do you think they're looking for?" Andrea pushes.
"I-I don't know exactly. But from what I heard they're looking for a mark."
"A mark?"
"Y-yes! A mark. I don't know what kind of mark. And I don't know if they found it or not because when I got back here, they're already gone."
"Who are they?"
"T-they?"
"Those who stayed here. Who are they?"
"A lot of monsters, with two girls leading them. I don't know who they are though."
Andrea nodded like she's satisfied with what Grover said and goes back in staring at the bonfire. Weird.
Grover looked at her with wide eyes, and he whispered to me. "Who is she?"
"She's Andrea. A daughter of Hephaestus. We found her in the forest." I don't know why I said forest instead of weird wilderness. Maybe because it's not something that we can share to Grover? It's not like I don't trust Grover, but- Ugh. I just let it slip from my tongue. "Why?"
"She's kind of… intimidating." He said as he looked at Andrea, who's still staring at the bonfire with her head resting on her palm.
"Actually, she's not like that." I said slowly. Our small chat was broken by Thalia as she cleared her throat.
"So, Grover. There are still campers that survived right?" Grover nodded. "Where are they?"
"They're at the Camp Jupiter. Good thing they let them camp there until everything's okay."
"What do you mean by everything?" Thalia asked.
"Everything. I mean, we still don't know who charged at the camp and why they did it."
Thalia nodded. "Is Chiron there?"
"Yes." Both Thalia and I breathed a sigh of relief. Chiron has a huge part in our lives and I'm really glad that he's alive.
"Do you know all the campers that survived?" I asked
"Umm… No. Why?"
"We just happen to be looking for someone and she might be one of those survivors." Thalia said and Andrea decided to lift her head up. "So… Can you take us to Camp Jupiter?"
"W-what?!" Grover exclaimed at what Thalia said. "D-do you know what they might do to you if they see just even your shadow?!" Thalia looked at Grover like he's doing pirouette and punched her at the same time. "They hate you, Percy, and Nico. They believed what Annabeth said and what happened before Percy left added more fuel on the fire! You can't go there!"
"Itdoesn'tmatter!" Andrea exclaimed, "We need to look for her! She's my bestfriend and I need to find her!"
"It does matter!" Grover snapped. I looked at him with wide eyes as I thought, Grover? "I don't care about your bestfriend! I care for their sake, and going to Camp Jupiter is really bad for them."
"Can you please understand that this is a major task?!" Andrea exclaimed while Grover's expression turned into confusion. "We need to look for her so that we can finish what Cha-" Before she can even finish her sentence, I covered her mouth with my hand.
"What?! What do you mean 'major task'?" Grover asked as he looked at both of us. Neither Thalia nor I answered him. It's just like we can't say it to him. It's not that I don't trust Grover but this quest isn't just a quest that was given in Camp Half-Blood, it was given by Chaos. I just- I don't know.
"What?! Answer me! You don't trust me?!" Grover yelled at us with hint of sadness and betrayal in his voice. "Is she going to say 'Chaos'?" I stared wide eyed at him but didn't say anything. "Answer me!"
"G-Grover?" I said with a shaky voice. "Can we talk about this… next time?"
He stared blankly at me. I don't know what's going on to his mind. But surprisingly, he said, "Fine." His face is still blank and unreadable. It's unlike the Grover I've known for years, but as he sighed, his expression turned into worried. "But I'm still not allowing you to go to Camp Jupiter."
"Grover?" A voice echoed and when we turned around, we saw Percy. Alive and woundless.
"Percy!" Grover immediately ran towards Percy and engulfed him in a hug.
"Percy! What happened to you?! Where did you go?! Chiron is very worried as well as me and the others." Grover ranted.
Percy chuckled, "Calm down, G-man." He suddenly turned silent. "I'll tell you the next time." From here, I can see hurt flash through Grover's eyes.
Silence filled the air as the two of them sat with us. After few minutes, Percy broke it. "I heard about the Camp Jupiter. And Grover," He turned to look at him. "We really need to go to Camp Jupiter no matter what."
"Percy-"
"No."
"They'll kill you in sight."
"I have my ways."
"Fine."
Percy smiled but Grover didn't. I know that there's something that bothering Grover, he just won't tell us what.
"What ways, Percy?" Grover narrowed his eyes and Percy smirked.
Percy took his bag from Andrea and rummaged through it. He took out the make ups that Thalia got from Luna's room and a photo. Grover inspected the make ups and when he's done, Percy let him see the photograph.
"You know him." Percy stated. It's not a question and he sounded so sure about it. What happened to Percy?
A gasp escaped Grover's mouth as he looked us. "You're… them."
"What do you mean? Who is he?" Percy asked. From Percy's words, I can tell that it's the William Williams, but why is he asking Grover about him?
Grover looked shocked and scared and after a minute of suffocating silence, he said, "I'll tell you the next time." straight to Percy's eyes, using his own words. Percy nodded and Grover turned to the three of us.
"Wear this make ups. This changes your appearance for an hour." He gave us the make ups and we start to put it on.
As I apply the make ups, I watched Grover from the corner of my eyes. He's looking at us warily that made me somewhat uncomfortable. When we're in this kind of situation before, Grover would throw encouragement words and advices, but now he looks at us like we will kill him at any moment. What is happening?
When we're done, I looked at them and I don't know who's who anymore.
"Hey. How do I look?" From the voice, I can tell that it's Percy. But in the looks, he has blond hair, blue eyes, pale skin, and there's a smirk in his face. He kinda looks like Daniel… Oops.
Grover looks like he has the same thought in head, but he said, "You look… fine. The make ups do its own magic anyways."
"What do you mean?" He narrowed his eyes.
"Nothing." Grover chuckled.
"How about me?" Thalia said and when I looked at her features, I can't help but let a gasp from my mouth.
"What?" She questioned. She has a long wavy hair, brown eyes, and curvy body. She looks nothing like her old appearance, but damn, she looks hot.
"You look hot." Percy blurted out of nowhere. Thalia's face suddenly turned red as Grover and I gawked at him.
"Percy?!" Grover exclaimed.
"What? I'm just telling the truth." Percy stated that made Thalia blush even more. "She's hot. But it's weird that Thalia looks hot. It's creepy."
That, ladies and gentlemen, earned Percy a very - take note: very - hard punch from Thalia.
"I'm just kidding!" Percy exclaimed as he rubbed his arm. Thalia still glared at him.
When no one uttered a word, Andrea muttered, "So?" I looked at her and noticed her blond hair, blue eyes, and rosy cheeks. Are she and Percy twins?
"You and Percy looked like twins." Grover stated that made them laugh.
"Hey, twin sister!" Percy grinned. "So… What now?"
"We're off to Camp Jupiter. But…" Grover knitted his eyebrows. "The make ups changes only the appearance, not the voice. They might recognize you are when you speak."
Out of nowhere, a light escaped out of Percy's bag. When he opened it, we found four vials with different liquid colors, and a note.
Drink moderately.
The four of us know that it's from Chaos and it can be a big help. So, the four of us nodded at each other and we took a single vial for ourselves.
"What is that?" Grover asked.
"We'll find later." Percy assured him.
"We? That means you don't know what's that and yet- Hey!" Before he can even finish his sentence, we drank the vials.
I felt a burn in my throat and the want to vomit because of the bitter taste, but after few seconds, the pain was gone.
"What was that?" I said. They looked at me with wide eyes and shocked face. I'm sure my face matched theirs because of the voice - my voice. It's different. "What is happening?"
"Your voice." Thalia muttered. Her voice too was different. It was sweet and calm that matched her face.
"Your voice." Percy repeated as he looked at Thalia with amusement. His voice was husky and deep.
"Your voice is cool, Percy!" Andrea grinned at him. Her voice was high-pitched yet sweet.
"Our voices. What's happening? Wait. How do I look?" I noticed my voice was somewhat soft and light. Eh? Andrea gave me a make-up kit with a mirror and I saw my face. I have brown hair, green eyes, and fair skin.
"The vials. It changed your voice. Wha-What was that?" Grover asked, confused and shocked.
"We'll explain sometime. Now…" Percy smiled. "Where to go?"
"To Camp Jupiter. But-" Before Grover could even finish his sentence, Percy whistled very loudly.
The sea-dragon that sent us here earlier was now in front of us. "A sea-dragon?" Grover said.
"Yep. Now, hop in!"
We hopped on the dragon's back with Percy on front and me on the back. I felt my insides churn with nervousness, but I ignored it.
"To Camp Jupiter." Percy yelled.
With that, the sea dragon started to dive back to water.
I hope you liked it. :))
Please tell me what you think about this. :))
