Sorry it's been so long since I've updated. This story isn't dead. Just been really busy. I will be tying in pieces from a game called Warframe too.

General Aqurus viewed the situation from the viewport. He was closely monitoring the rift. It had widened to about 16 centimeters , and it was doubling by the hour, if the scientists from the STG team were correct. What happens when it gets to a few meters? I should update the Primarch…

He walked to the Comm room on the ship, and failed in Vakarian's number.

"General Aqurus, report." Garrus snapped at the holoimage before him. He was having a bad day so far. He didn't mean to take it out on Aqurus but it slipped out. He willed the apology to Aqurus through his eyes.

"Sir, the STG team showed up last night at 0450 hours Citadel Standard Time." Garrus nodded to him to continue. "It's expanded to 16 times the size it was yesterday when I updated you. The scientists estimate that it will keep doubling in size for the foreseeable future."

"I see, keep me apprised on any changes. I want updates sent to any parts of the fleet within 50 light years of the rift. Also sent hourly updates to my office." The General nodded in understanding and ended the call.

Garrus stepped out of the office to meet Sarah for an early lunch. It has been 3 weeks since they would out she was pregnant. Things had been stressful to say the least. Not an insignificant amount of fights due to Garrus trying to do everything for Sarah and her getting a bug up her ass at all the attention, even more than usual Sarah did. Must be the mood swings that Mordin told me about… Garrus sighed. He wouldn't ever leave her, no matter what mood she was in, he knew it was temporary, but what they had together…. that would last long past one of their deaths.

He was remembering house shopping on his ride over… he let Sarah take control of that. He was never one for all the ins and outs of buying something, except if it was a sniper rifle of course.

The first house they looked at was near his family house, it was a smaller house, 4 bedrooms, 2 stories. It was much smaller than Garrus had thought, but it was cozy, perfect for just the two of them and their child.

Sarah had apparently not liked the first house for some reason or the other. Maybe she was having fun and didn't want to say she loved it so quickly? They moved onto the section bs house. It was a much larger house, enough that they'd probably get lost in the halls for the first month or so. Sarah said it was too big, so they moved on.

The third house is the one that made both their jaws drop. It was freshly built by the premier company on Palaven. Everything was made of treated wood and stone, giving the hole a nice, well homey, feel to it. The interior had 6 bedrooms and 4 baths, and was made entirely of wood shipped directly from Earth. Mahogany Garrus thought after a second That's what it was. The price is what gave them a hitch in their step. 2,000,000,000 Credits. They were about to dejectedly decline the realtor's offer, when Sarah's omnitool started blaring.

"Hello?" Sarah answered.

An older male voice appeared on the vid screen. It was Hackett. "Hello Shepard." he saluted, which she returned.

"What can I do for you Admiral?" Garrus groaned silently, she'd always make time for whatever Hackett asked, retired or no, but he really couldn't say anything, being the Primarch.

"It's not what you can do for us, Shepard." Garrus raised his eye plate with surprise. "It's what we can do for you. The people took a vote. Their vote was to pay for whatever home you decided to live in, it was also an election. Shepard, if you will accept, you will be the new Prime Minister of the Systems Alliance."

Garrus's and Sarah's jaws both went slack. Sarah quickly cleared the surprise from her face, thanked Hackett for delivering the news to her, and told him they needed to discuss this as a family, and hung up.

They shared looks of complete disbelief. "Isn't footing the bill for this house a little much?" Garry's questioned.

"Not really. With the 4 billion remaining adults, it's only about one half of a credit per person. I think I'll go to Earth to see what the job requires." She smiled at him.

Garrus snapped out of his flashback. He arrived at the restaurant. This was the first time he had seen his wife in 3 weeks, save vid calls every night. He needed to make damn sure that the stressors of his life as the leader of a planet, I guess she had the same stress, but was better at hiding it, during the War.

Sarah was already sitting at the table, hand resting on the surface so the engagement ring and wedding band shown brightly in the sun. She was beaming, a smile so wide Garrus only could imagine how her face could stretch to such lengths. The sight made him giddy inside. Only Sarah could do that to him.

Garrus sat at the table. "Hey." Sarah said as she pecked his cheek plate. He kissed her back. The server walked over and took their drink orders.

"So… how was Earth?" Garrus asked.

"It was better than expected. It is slowly being rebuilt… its going but its slow."

"So…what did you think about the job?"

"I don't know. I enjoyed it, it felt like I had the Normandy again. I missed the work, but I want to be back here with you." The end of the sentence degraded into a whimper. She still managed a smile at the end. Garrus's face lit up. She was willing to give up the seat as the most powerful human in the Galaxy to stay with him. He would do the same and he had always been prepared to step down, he just hoped they wouldn't have to.

"If you accept the job, you won't have to…." Garrus motioned his hands, not being able to complete the sentence.

Sarah smiled and giggled

"Actually, Hackett said he had the current Prime Minister call a vote of all citizens. They are going to reform the whole Alliance Government. We'll now have 2 Prime Ministers, one will be the Minister of Domestic Affairs, and the other will be the Minister of Foreign Affairs, they nominated me to be the Minister of Foreign Affairs, so I don't have to live on Earth!" Sarah finished, fluttering around, she was excited. She'd waited 3 days to tell him the news.

Garrus's face lit up, just as Sarah's did. He didn't have to leave his job, she didn't have to turn down hers. They were the single most powerful couple in the Galaxy. "So what responsibilities does the Minister of Foreign Affairs have?"

"I'm in complete control of the Alliance Navy and Marines, making peace treaties with races, running the embassies, employing people."

Garrus laughed. "So that means you're Hackett's boss?"

"Huh. I guess I never thought of it like that... I guess I am." They both looked at each other as the conversation dissolved into a fit of ironic laughter. Poor Hackett, he has no idea what he is in for Garrus thought.

When Garrus got control of his laughter, he asked "When do you start?"

"The election is in 2 days, but since no one is running against me, I know I'll win."

The 3 days Sarah had without any work passed far to fast for Garrus. Like she said, she won the election unopposed. He took a few days off to be with her, at the insistence that his secretary call him immediately barring an emergency. He was enjoying his wife company in bed. And oh man was he enjoying it. Sarah was as insatiable as ever, not missing a beat, they kept it going until one of them passed out from exhaustion, and then they'd wake the other up and start all over again. Garrus was never so happy to not sleep in his life. "Sarah. Is it just me or has blowing off steam gotten better?"

She was on top of him again, red in the face from effort, bouncing on top of his waist. "Much better, baby. Much better." She said as she leaned down and sloppily kissed him.

The omnitool on the desk started to buzz. Garrus groaned, he knew that was his. He looked at the ID. It was Aqurus. He gently pulled his wife off and Kaye's her down, threw on a tunic to look presentable and answered the call. Aqurus's image popped up in front of Garrus. Sarah was in the corner getting dressed, out of view.

"Sir. The Anomaly has strange readings. It's seems to be powering up. The STG team has no idea what is going on. We don't know what this is sir, but I suggest reading the fleet just in case."

"I will take your advice on the matter General. I will signal the reserve fillet and meet you at those coordinates later today. My wife will be coming as well."

Aqurus was flabbergasted, he had never seen a Primarch so willing to be at the forefront on the potential conflict. It was against tradition. Garrus read the general's face and said "General, I realize it's against tradition, but I've never been a good Turian." Sarah giggled silently in the corner as Garrus hung up.

"I can't believe you just said that!" Sarah said, laughing, smiling brightly. "I guess this is my first official job."

Sarah called up Hackett. "Ma'am?" Hackett answered. He looked slightly awkward at saying it.

Sarah laughed. "You can call me Shepard, Admiral." He looked relieved.

"Anyway, I need you to send the second fleet to these coordinates. We are backing up the Hierarchy reserve fleet. There is an anomaly near Trebia." Sarah continued.

"Alright, I'll have the 2nd Fleet mobilizing in 2 hours, it'll be about 6 hours until they arrive."

"Thank you, Admiral." Sarah said and saluted.

A new one tomorrow to make up for not being here for so long! Sorry!
