Hey peeps! How's it hanging? I'm sorry that I haven't been updating like I'd promised, but I've been swamped with summer homework. Right now I should be finishing my assignments, but I can't focus on them right now. I'm reading 1984 and it's really very interesting, but it's difficult to want to read it for long periods of time. School starts up again on Tuesday, so I've got to get it finished, but what's a little break? Ain't any harm in that, right? I hope you all are having an amazing summer! Now on with the story.

I no own. Flames will be used to burn all of my schoolbooks.

Max POV:

Fang returned to my room with a bag of chips and a water. He threw the water at me and I just barely caught it before it hit my face. I shot a glare at him, but still chugged half of the bottle—not realizing how thirsty I was.

He sat back down in the chair next to my bed and looked up at me through his surprisingly long eyelashes.

"Max, I know we didn't really get off on the right foot, but I really would like to try to be your friend."

"Why would you want to be my friend?"

"Because you intrigue me, and if I'm being honest, I think I'll be good for you."

"What do you mean 'good for me'? Nothing's good for me. Everything is a goddamn mess." He looked at me like he didn't know how to respond and paused for a moment before he spoke again.

"Let me help you try to clean everything up then. I'm just asking to be your friend- which really isn't that much to ask for," he hesitated, "Besides, aren't you going to need someone push you around before you can start walking again?" I was startled. I had almost forgotten that I couldn't use my legs. Then I snarled.

"I don't need your help—or your false hope. There is no guarantee that I will be able to walk again, so just stuff it, will ya?" He jumped back in his chair, surprised I think, by my tone of voice.

"Look, Max, I'm just trying to help, okay? Just let me help. Please." He was pleading, and it wasn't a good look for him. I thought about it, and how much I didn't need or want him in my life. Then I figured that if I gave him a chance, he'd realize that I wasn't worth the effort and eventually leave me alone. It was a good plan, and the only way I was ever going to get him off of my back. I sighed.

"Okay fine, you can stick around," he jumped up and opened his mouth to speak, "But, you get one chance, and if you mess up or piss me off, you're gone, got it?" he nodded enthusiastically.

"Thank you! I promise that you're going to love having me around, really Max. Soon enough, you won't be able to live without me," he smirked. I only scoffed in reply. He didn't need to know that on the inside I found his speech amusing and just wanted to laugh along with him over his strange antics.

"Okay, now go away. I want to sleep and I can't do that if you're in here watching me like a total creep." He rolled his eyes, but regardless left me in peace. Right before the door closed behind him though he looked back in and gave on last smile, promising to be back tomorrow. I'd deny it if anyone ever asked, but I was actually looking forward to seeing him, but that's just not going to work, so I shoved the excitement back and muttered my prayer before slowly drifting off into the land of nightmares and demons.

Fin.

Okay, so I know it's super short, but I promise the next chapter will be longer. Please leave a review telling me what you thought and what you think should happen next. Everything you have to say is really appreciated and it encourages me to write more.

QOTC: If you're in high school, how many AP classes are you taking this coming year?

I'm taking 4: AP Psychology, AP English 4, AP Government, and AP Calculus AB. Just because I'm crazy, as all of my friends have graciously pointed out for me.

Hope you're all enjoying summer and having a grand old time!
