"What is the meaning of this?" The medic asked, he saw the entire thing. They knew Gilbert would never do such a thing, Gil always protected his friends, he was a noble and gentle soul, and he always regretted the men he killed. He couldn't believe that in just fifteen minutes they had found Gil guilty of hurting the Hatter. Something was off.

"Gil, he was the one. He was the one that hurt Break, he did it."

"Is that so?" The doctor decided it best to play along, "He always surprises me with how destructive he can be, I just wonder what made him snap in such a way, it's almost unbelievable that he could've done such a thing… in a way I'm very disappointed in the boy," the Medic said, noticing a strange light within Alice, Oz, and Sharon's eyes. That's very peculiar. He tried his best to not seem suspicious as he observed the group of people, that was strange indeed, Benedict didn't have the same light in his eyes. Friend or foe? Was he an innocent bystander, or the cause of this drastic change?

"Medic. I… I still can't believe it myself, I feel terrible that I had to do that to Gil. I.. I thought they'd always been close, I thought Gil would protect Break no matter what." Oz looked as though he were about to cry.

"Shhh. Say no more. For now let's wait until The Hatter wakes up. Perhaps his memory will still be with him on tonight's events. Let's hope it truly isn't the Nightray boy. We can still hope that what we thought was true, can't we?"

"Mmm" Oz nodded, then walked to Break's side next to Sharon, "Wake up soon Break. Sharon, we need to be strong for him, we can still hope that Gil really wasn't the one to hurt him."

Gil stood, completely shocked at what just happen…. Wait.. what did just happen? All He knew was he wasn't aloud near Break again. A thorn bush of fear had wrapped itself around the Raven. How did it come to this? He was supposed to be there for Break when he woke up. What happened to that? He didn't know what to do anymore. So he did the only thing he could do. He went back to his room, and he would wait for whatever was coming next.

As he walked he could help but feel a bit pathetic, like being a group reject, leaving because no one wanted him to be where he had been. An uninvited guest that had been kicked out. He opened his bedroom door, and flopped himself onto his bed, he didn't think the day could've gotten any worse. But apparently someone was out there to prove him wrong. He hoped Break would wake up soon, and wondered if anyone would even bother to tell him so. As he lay on his bed he finally noticed how exhausted he really was. How strange. He hadn't even had that much exercise today. He closed his eyes, letting go of all the worry he was holding onto as he slipped into unconsciousness.

Someone was shaking him. What? He had fallen asleep? He couldn't remember when he had lost himself, he just realized that someone was shaking him awake. He groggily opened his and groaned as the day light filtered through the uncovered windows, "Master Nightray," a sweet voice came from above him. He groaned again as he lifted his body up from the bed.

"Huh? Victoria?" he rubbed his eyes listening to what Victoria would say.

"It was requested of me to bring you lunch, Master Nightray."

"Lunch?" He glanced to the mantelpiece clock, it read fifteen till one. He turned his head looking at the meal he was being offered, a delicious looking sandwich and a cup of tea

"Also, Oz requests you stay in your room for the remainder of the day, you are to leave under no circumstances."

Suddenly everything that happened yesterday rushed back to his memory, the occurrences being enough to make him queasy, totally turning him off from the sandwich, "Did.. Did he say anything else?"

"That was all I am allowed to say to you at this moment… but, if it make you feel any better… I don't believe what they are doing to you is fair. If you want, I will come by and give you updates on Master Break's condition. It's the least I can do for you." She never imagined her actions would affect others this badly. She had to make things better for the others who were suffering. Especially Gilbert, he was innocent, but here he was, being treated like criminal for the crime that she had commited.

"The least you could do?"

"Master Break, it's what he would want. You are the closest living person to him, I'm doing this for him."

Gil wore a sad smile, "You know that's the last thing he would want to hear."

"Oh, you're right. Haha, my mistake… eat up now." She handed the tray of food to the Nightray and headed back for the door.

"Wait… how- how is he?"

"He's got his color back, but he hasn't w-woken yet." She teared up as a pang of guilt collided into her.

"Thank you."

"…Master Gilbert?"

"Hmm?"

"Would… Would you give your life to protect Master Break?"

Gil looked at the woman with sunken tired eyes, "I would."

It surprised Victoria, he didn't even bat an eyelash, he was so sure of himself as he said that, just the way Master Break had done. The type of relationship these two had, it was stronger then she'd ever seen with anyone else. Perhaps what Master Break had told Master Vincent was the truth. He and Master Gil were lovers, for many years. She bit her lip in contemplation, she wanted to ask, but decided against it, "And he would give his life for you." Victoria left the room quickly, returning to her mistress's side.

Oz turned to see Victoria enter the hospital wing, "How was he? Is he alright?"

"He was still asleep when I arrived… Master Oz, Miss Sharon, I really don't think Master Gilbert was the one who did it. There were over two hundred guests here last night, it could have been anyone."

"Victoria, Master Gilbert was the only one to see Master Break all day yesterday, and as I was just informed, he was the one to pick Master Break's room. No one else knew exactly where he was staying." Benedict glared at the girl in warning, She knew she could do nothing more, if she were to say anything else the man would report directly to Vincent, and her sister would be in danger.

"Of course, how silly of me,"

"Well," The Medic interrupted, "It's entirely possible someone else saw the little Nightray drop the Hatter off at his room. There are millions of possibilities, we mustn't write off these possibilities just because we favor one outcome?.. Ah… Benedict, right?"

Sharon finally looked up from watching Xerxes' breathing, "I see, so it is actually possible that Gil didn't do it." She said solemnly, but she still couldn't get the thought out of her head, Gilbert was the one that did it. She stood up, "I'll be getting some tea. Oz, please watch over him." she exited the room, Benedict and Victoria following her out of the hospital wing

Gil flopped back down onto his bed, he had finally finished eating, and that took much more energy than it should have. He wanted to be next to Break, see him when his eyes flutter open, the confused look he would have on. He wanted to be the one to explain to him where he was and how he got there… from what he could tell, his friends all thought he had tried to kill Break. So if Break died… He would be convicted of murder, his pride and reputation in Pandora shattered, if it wasn't already. The only good thing that would come of that scenario would be he would get to see Break again so soon, he would be executed, quite possibly publicly. Either way, he didn't have much of a future.

He shut his eyes again, still exhausting from last night. He stopped his train of thought, as his conscious was lost once more. He dreamed… Break's eyes flutter open, he whispered Gil's name. he briefly wondered where the others were.. oh well didn't really matter. All that mattered was Break was awake. Gil was overfilled with joy, "I'm here, Break," he answered. Break touched his cheek, pulling him closer… Gil awoke, being shook once more, "Gil," he heard.

His eyes shot open, "Oz?" He scanned his surroundings. He was still in his room, the sun was setting, Oz was standing by the side of the bed.

"Gil… Here's your dinner. It's a stew…" Gil grabbed the tray and began eating the stew. It smelled delicious, and tasted just the same, "Y-You've been sleeping all day?"

"Mhmm." Was all he could get out as he chewed piece of potato.

Oz sighed, "It isn't good for you to sleep so much."

Gil swallowed, "S-Sorry."

"Would… Did you do it? Did you try to kill Break?"

Gil locked his eyes with his Master's, "I didn't. I couldn't hurt Break even if I wanted to."

Oz sighed again, "Gil, I need absolute proof you didn't do it. We want to believe you didn't do it, but we can't unless there is absolute proof it wasn't you."

"But where is the proof that I did it? Right now all you're doing is assuming it was me."

"That's why you are here, not in jail, Gil."

An urgent knock came from the door and Victoria opened the door, "Master Oz, Lady Sharon requests your presence immediately."

"Oh? Okay, I'll come by tomorrow, see how you're feeling then." Oz walked quickly out of Gil's room.

Gil watched as Oz hurried off, then look at Victoria in question, she smiled and nodded to him. She hoped her message got across. That he would understand, Master Break had woken up.

Yessssss. now things can get interesting! again thank you for reading!
