Obi-Wan laid wide awake in the dark room, his mind trying to keep track of the time. How long has he been in here? Two days? A day and a half? It was hard to keep track. He knew, however, that the time was drawing near for Be-Ji to come into the room with a tray full of food. Obi-Wan ate small bits of it to ease his hunger, but not enough to ease his father's pleads. Be-Ji wanted him to eat, which means he didn't want Obi-Wan to die. Obi-Wan thought, perhaps Be-Ji wasn't as bad of a father as Obi-Wan thought. But then again, how many times has he tried to kill me? Why has me made his life miserable? Him, his mother and sister?
The door opened and, instead of Be-Ji, it was the two guards who usually stood outside of Obi-Wan's door. Sometimes, they would enter his room and start to bully him just to get him to use his Jedi powers against them. Obi-Wan fought hard not to give in to their demands, despite the temptation. Bullies were always his pet peeve, it brought back to many bad memories from being in the Council Orphanage. The kids were always pushing him, beating him, jeering him because of who he was; Orphan Kenobi, Bastard Boy, Short Stack...just about any name they could conjure to call him. His mother would always worry about him when she saw the bruises, the cuts, black eyes and swollen arms and faces, but he always lied.
"Get up Jedi." The left guard said. Obi-Wan sat still and glared at the guards.
"Hey you deaf or something? Get up!" The other said, grabbing and yanking Obi-Wan's arm up. Obi-Wan kneeled down and swung the guard over his chest and the guard landed with a thud. Obi -Wan charged for the door. As he turned the corner, he felt something grab his him around the throat and pulled him back. Obi-Wan couldn't breath, he couldn't move, his face was turning red with anger as he tried to fight his way out.
"Release him! Now!" Be-Ji's voice shouted and the hold on Obi-Wan was released. The two guards grabbed Obi-Wan by his arms and dragged him down the hall.
"You're going to regret ever taking me." Obi-Wan snarled as he was thrown into another room."Once my master finds me-"
"Qui-Gon could care less about you son." Be-Ji stated calmly, closing the door.
"You're a liar!" Obi-Wan shouted. He tried to remember what master Yoda said about taming ones rage, but he seemed to be losing his control. All Be-Ji has ever done is insult Constella when he has no idea what she has gone through. All the pain, the sadness, the hurt, the tears, all for the safety of her children and he was never there for her. He never helped her, yet he spoke evil words about her. It was something Obi-Wan did not want to tolerate.
Be-Ji's dark eyes narrowed at Obi-Wan and Obi-Wan replied with his own narrow glare. Obi-Wan didn't fear Be-Ji, but he still was enraged by Be-Ji. It was because of Be-Ji, Obi-Wan couldn't have a normal life, a life of safety, a life with a real family. But he can never have that, it was impossible.
"Answer me this Obi-Wan." Be-Ji stated, he looked at Obi-Wan with firm eyes. Obi-Wan remembered those eyes when he was young. Those bright eyes that always seemed to light up whenever he looked at Obi-Wan or Constella or Acleara. Obi-Wan remembered one day, his father's eyes light up so bright that it would seem like a fiery passion or pride just burning away. Be-Ji was always so proud of his family. But now..." Do you honestly think your own mother cares about you?"
Obi-Wan's eyes glared daggers at Be-Ji with the purest hatred it may as well be considered a Sith's anger. Obi-Wan didn;t care if he lost control or not, he stopped caring about taming his anger, if he had the light saber, it would be out and he would start attacking. "How dare you say that about her! She has been more of a parent than you!"
"Think about it Obi-Wan." Be-Ji paused, sitting on a stool with his hands interlined together." If she was so worried about your safety then why didn't she go with you to Naboo? WHy did she keep your sister and not you?"
As much as he hated to admit it, Be-Ji had a point. If his mother was so worried about his safety, why didn't she do more? Should she have done more? But she ...
"Mother...she wouldn't...she couldn't...I mean..." Obi-Wan was lost for words. What could he say? What was there to say? Was his father right? Was he lying to him? Obi-Wan felt sick to his stomach, his body was shaking, tears started to develop in his eyes. He wanted to cry, or scream, do something to ignore the pain. He tried to follow the Jedi Code to keep calm and block out his emotions. But this emotion was too strong to block, to fight off, not even the Code or the Order could block it off. After all...this is his mother he was talking about. It was a basic habit for a boy to defend his mother.
Be-Ji placed a hand on Obi-Wan's trembling shoulder.
"I would reconsider your mother's love."
Be-Ji left the room, leaving Obi-Wan alone with his thoughts. Obi-Wan wanted his mother, more than anything he wanted her like a scared child. He would never have admitted it, but he was afraid. But what was he afraid of? His father? Or was it the truth behind her actions? Would she betray him? If she wouldn't, then why would his father say that about her? Would she tell him the truth? His mind might be thinking that she betrayed him, but Obi-Wan's heart didn't care. He wanted the comfort of his mother, he wanted to feel the warmth of her hug when she held him, the sweet sound of her voice...
"Grow up Obi-Wan." Obi-Wan scolded himself for thinking this way. "She did a lot for you..."
Just to deceive you? His mind told him. His mind and heart were at war inside his body. It couldn't be possible. Could it? Would she do the same thing to Acleara? Or Nathaniel? Perhaps not Nathaniel since Be-Ji doesn't even know Nathaniel exists. But would their mother have the heart to sell out her only daughter or her oldest child? Why? What could she possible gain out of it?
"A child who doesn't know he's a Jedi...or the fool of a father." Obi-Wan whispered. The door opened and Be-Ji returned with another tray of food. He set the tray infront of Obi-Wan. "Here, eat."
Obi-Wan backed away from him.
"At least drink the water." He said, holding the tall glass to Obi-Wan who looked away. Obi-Wan felt his anger was growing, he tried to tame it like how Yoda taught him, but he could feel it slipping.
"Obi-Wan..."
"Leave me alone." Obi-Wan whispered." Just get your stupid blood sample and get away from me."
"Son, please hear me..."
"Why should I?" Obi-Wan growled, his eyes filled with rage and fear. He couldn't control it, his emotions were too strong for his young mind to contain or block.
"I am your father." Be-Ji stated with firm kindness.
"You've tried to kill me." Obi-Wan spat.
" I never meant-"
"Same words over and over again." Obi-Wan said firmly, he felt he should have said something else, something more of a comeback. But he couldn't, there were no words to explain how he was feeling in his heart. No words could explain the pain in his heart nor the betrayal his soul was feeling.
"Obi-Wan."
"Leave me alone to die." Obi-Wan looked away from his father again.
"What are you-"
"I would rather die than live knowing my parents hatred towards me and their betrayal."
