"Are we gonna talk about it?" Nabu asked.
Lilian signed "What can we say? We were chased down the streets of New York by psychopaths for no known reason."
Ashley signed loudly. "This is not something you do every day?"
"No, only on fridays." Herald said.
Ashley looked at him in shock, then Nabu started laughing.
"Yeah, but usually the psychopaths are our fans."
Ashley signed again, this time in relief.
"But it was weird though," Kole said. "I mean did anyone know that girl with the white hair and the eyepatch."
They all shook their heads.
"Well we should go to our rooms now, the night patrol is gonna be dispatched soon." Nabu said and got up from the table.
"Why did we decide to sit in here, again?" Ashley asked. "It's kind of creppy."
"You mean, you don't find an old, dark library fasinating?" Lilian said with evil smile.
Elliot tapped her lightly on the back of head, and let his head fall to the side, when she looked at him.
"Don't be such an idiot, El. She knows I'm kidding." Lilian said and got up.
"Let's just go." Kole said and yawned.
"Why do the dorms have to be in the building farthest from the school?" Nabu complained, as they crossed the darkened grounds.
"Speaking of which, don't you have to go home, Herald." Ashley asked.
Herald suddenly tensed, like he had forgotten all about it. "Oh ... Yes..." Then he started walking towards the gates.
Suddenly a voice broke the uncomfortable silence. "Don't bother kid."
Right behind stood the same people, that had chased them through New York just a few night ago.
"Now if you'll just come with us..." A man they haven't seen before said.
"Yeah, no." Nabu said and shook his head.
"Suits yourself." The guy then said. "Get them."
The others behind him moved towards them.
"Do I have to say it?" Herald asked.
"Nope." Lilian said and they all began to run to the gate.
"Guys!..." Wally yelled as he storm into the cave, then stopped when he saw who were there.
"What is it?" Wonder girl asked.
"Never mind ... Nightwing, Superboy, M'gann can you come with me for a second?" Wally said nervously.
"Wally ... what's wrong," M'gann asked.
He signed. "I just got a tip, that the light has send some assassins after Deathstroke's son."
"We should hurry then." M'gann said and chanced into her costume.
Wally tensed.
"Something wrong?" Superboy asked confused.
"Nothing..."
"Where did you get the tip?" Robin asked.
Wally looked at him for a few seconds, shocked.
Then he said: "We better go."
"What are we gonna do?" Nabu said between breaths.
"We can't stop!" Kole said out of breath. "They'll catch us"
"Not to ... sound ... like ... we do this ... every day, but ... shouldn't ... we ... split up ... like ... last time?..." Herald asked between heavy breaths.
"That's a ... pretty good ... idea..." Ashley said and tried to run down a street away from the others, but were block by the female strongman that had chased after her just a few nights ago.
"Come on," Nabu yelled behind her, and pulled her back towards the others, before the female could get a hold of her.
"I don't think they want us to split up." Nabu said.
"You might be on to something." Lilian said and slowed down, just a bit.
"We are running away from a group of psykopaths for the second time this week, and we have no idea why ... maybe not the best time for sacasm." Herald said.
Suddenly Jericho turned down a street.
The others just followed him.
"Do you know were you're going?" Nabu asked.
He just shook his head.
"Then..." Ashley said and looked back to see they were still being followed. "Where are we going..."
Jericho suddenly stopped.
"Well, if you'd stop running, I would tell you." The man, that now seem to lead the group of psychopaths, stood just a few feet from Jericho.
Jericho took a small, almost unnoticed, step to the side. Then he ran down an alleyway, the others followed.
They didn't get far, when the alley ended in a brickway.
As the people closed in on them from behind, they looked around frantically for a way out.
"In here," Nabu said and ran to a backdoor of a building.
The others followed him and locked the door behind them.
They stood at the foot stairwell that seem to go up forever.
"So were are they?" Robin asked and seemed to be looking everywhere at once.
"I don't know..." Wally said. He still seemed tense.
"What's the matter?" Miss Martian asked him.
"Just thinking ...about what it will be like to stand face to face … with the guy that killed my girlfriend." He said as a matter of fact. But there were something in his voice, like he didn't really mean what he said. But M'gann knew better than to pry.
Blue Beetle coughed.
"Yes..." Nightwing said. "Spread out … if you see something, anything, then contact the rest of us. We don't know, what they want with Joseph Wilson, but it can't be good."
They all nodded and left, leaving Wally and Nightwing.
Wally signed. "Can't we just tell them?" He asked, as he rubbed his eyes.
Nightwing shook his head. "It's to dangerous, Kaldor and Artemis could both be killed, if the truth came out."
Wally signed again and then nodded. "Yeah, I know … but it's hard to keep the secret and still use the intel we get from them."
Nightwing smilled bitterly and nodded. "Yeah, I hope this all gets back to normal soon."
"But now, we need to help this kid. And maybe find out what the light wants with him."
Nightwing nodded. "Let's go."
"I can hear them," Ashley said, trembling, as they hurried up the stairs.
"Me too," Lilian said.
"How high are we up?" Herald asked.
"Not high enough," Nabu said.
"We're coming..." They all recognized the girl with the eyepatch's sing-song voice.
"Well, then try to get up faster!" Kole said in a panic.
"Door!" Nabu said, right before the stairs end at a door.
He ripped the door open and ran through it, the rest of them followed and slam the door shut.
"Safe," Kole signed in relief with her back against the door.
"Just one problem..." Lilian said and looked around. "We're on a rooftop."
Suddenly Kole felt a kick against the other side of the door.
"What do we do now?" Ashley asked frantic.
"The same thing we did a few minutes ago..." Nabu said, as Jericho pulled Kole away from the door between two kicks. "Try not to get catch."
As Jericho got Kole just a few feet away from the door, it busted open.
"So..." The man from before said with a evil smile. "Are you kids finish running?"
"Well it's not like we can..." Nabu mumbled.
"Come on … we can play together again..." The girl with white hair and an eyepatch said as she came into view.
"Who are you?..." Lilian asked confused and scared, while she shook her head.
The two strong twins moved towards them, and they started backing away.
"You can't get away, just give up." The man said, as the others advanced towards them.
"He's right, you know." Kole said, as she felt the ankle high, stone fence around the edge of the roof, against her heel.
"What are we gonna do?" Nabu asked as he looked down over the edge.
Herald did the same. "Do you guys trust me?" He then said, it was almost just a whisper.
"If you are gonna ask us to jump … then no." Nabu said without looking away from the other side of the edge.
Herald looked at him. "You won't even hit the ground, trust me." He said with very calm.
"You're asking me to jump off a building." Nabu said, while looking at Herald and shaking his head. "No."
"Well … it's not like we can stay here," Lilian said and made a hand gesture to the psychopaths still coming towards them.
Elliot suddenly shrugged and got up onto the edge, looking down, then he turned towards them and held a hand out for Lilian.
She signed and took his hand and step onto the edge.
"Well, the worst that could happen is that we die." She then said with a smile.
"Stop them!" The man yelled behind them.
Nabu signed. "Well, it's now or never." Then he got up on the edge to.
Herald, Ashley and Jericho step onto the edge too, but Kole wouldn't.
She shook her head violently. "Then rather get captured..."
"Listen to the seemly sane girl..." the girl with white hair said, again in a sing-song voice.
"Jump!" Herald said and leaned forward until he fell off the edge.
Elliot just shrugged and jumped, pulling Lilian down with him.
Nabu jump of the edge like he was canonballing a pool.
Ashley took one last look at the people behind her, before she jumped.
Jericho took hold of Kole's wrist.
"Don't..." The man said, as he ran towards them.
Jericho looked at him and smiled, before he let himself fall backwards, taking a screaming Kole with him.
"If you were the son of an assassin, and you were being chased by the light, where would you be?" Wonder Girl asked.
"Good question." Blue Beetle stated.
"Down..." Superboy said.
"What?" Wonder Girl asked.
"He is going down..." Superboy said and pointed to an alley on the other side of the street, where seven kids were falling towards the ground.
Before any of them could move. A portal appeared under the falling kids, and they all fell in.
Then before any of them could even contact Nightwing, a second portal open on the ground and the kids fell sideways out of the portal.
After they cracked a few jokes, they got up and left.
Blue Beetle swallowed. "Something tells me, that either this guy have crazy powers, or his friends have."
"What did Nightwing get us into?" Superboy asked.
As they fell towards the ground, Herald pulled out his trumpet and played a few notes.
Then a portal opened beneath them and they fell in. Before they could register what was happening, another portal opened and they fell sideways on the ground, just beneath where they were falling from.
"I thought, you said we wouldn't even hit the ground." Nabu said and sat up.
"I just saved you from falling to your doom, and this is the thanks I get?" Hearld said and dusted himself off.
Then came a silence, followed by a laughter from all of them.
"Well ... at least we got away from those creppy people..." Lilian said.
"Yeah..." Ashley said. Instead of getting up, she laid down on the ground and looked up. "They are looking down at us,"she then said.
Jericho looked up too. He saw him.
The blond man, who had just chased them through New York. And who he once played with.
He nodded slowly.
"Well ... we could stay around and let them catch us..." Lilian said, but Ashley cut her off.
"Do you think, they'll come after us again?" She asked and looked up.
The psychopaths looked down at them, but didn't seem to want to jump.
"Well … I don't wanna find out." Nabu said and stood up.
"I second that." Herald said and got up. "I can open a portal back to the school, but I suggest, we get a little space between us and them." He said and nodded upwards towards the psykopaths.
"Well..." Kole said and got up and dusted herself off. "It's not like it was totally weird the first time."
Elliot did some version of a silent laugh, that only lasted a second. Before he got up, then turned his nose up, like he smelled somthing.
"Something wrong?" Lilian asked him, but he just shook his head.
Nabu looked up, the psychopaths were gone.
"It's properly best we get moving, before they come after us again.
The others nodded and they all left the alley.
"Why didn't you say, that there were other kids involved?" Wonder Girl asked.
"Kids?" Wally said. "Joseph Wilson is at least around your age, the other kids properly too … as for who and how many that's involve … I have no idea."
"You didn't say that he had powers." Blue Beetle stated.
"Another thing I didn't know." Wally countered.
"How about the other ki … teens?" Robin asked.
Wally shrugged.
"What could he do?" Nightwing asked.
"We're not sure it was him, but … when they fell from a building, they were saved by a portal, that opened under them." Superboy said.
Nightwing nodded.
"Well … we should try to find them … to at least to see if they're okay."
"You know all this running really keeps me in shape." Ashley said and smile.
"Yeah, but I'm glad we are not running anymore." Lilian said. "It was really ruining my boots."
"Yeah..." Kole said as she walked behind the others, she really tired. Then she suddenly screamed.
They all turned around in shock.
She wasn't there.
Jericho looked around frantic.
"Where is..." Lilian couldn't finish the sentence, before she suddenly hit the floor.
Elliot kneeled beside her. He looked up at the others.
A blue hand came out of the shadows behind Ashley and gently touched the back of her head, before she fainted.
Herald backed a few feet away. Then someone grabbed him by the neck and pulled him into the darkness.
"I'm not the only one getting a little freacked, am I." Nabu asked, just before Elliot collapsed on top of Lilian.
Jericho were suddenly grabbed from behind and pulled against someones chest.
"Jer!..." Nabu said before being lifted up into the air. Then before he could even move, his head was encased in a water bubble. He fought to get free, but unfortunately he eventually lost consciousness.
Jericho felt a piece cloth being put over his mouth.
"Now relax, Joey." The man from before, his brother, whispered in his ear. "I'm not going to hurt you, if you just ... relax..."
He fought to get the cloth away, but a hand kept it firmly against his mouth. Whatever was on it started working and that along with Grant's gentle, slow word ... and he soon lost consciousness.
"I can't believe it worked," Rose said, as they gathered the teens.
"I can't believe, how good you were at shooting paralyzing darts." Grant said and lifted his little brother up and carried him towards the harbor.
"Do you always have to insulte me?" She asked and put the goth girl over her shoulder.
"It's my nature." He just said and continued walking.
"Why did you do it?" Rose whispered, as she walked up beside him.
"To gain dad's trust again, we can figure out how to get him out, as soon as we get back." He whispered back.
"We both know this is going to end badly. For all three of us." She hissed at him.
He just kept walking.
Drop.
A waterdrop landed on his eyelid and woke him up.
He blinked sleeply and looked around.
He was sitting up against the wall in round room with his hands tied behind his back and some weird collar around his neck. His friends were lying around the room, but no one were near the only door.
He reached out and kick Herald. He almost jumped awake.
"What?" He asked sleeply, then he looked around. "Where are we?"
Jericho shrugged and tried to untie the rope around his wrist.
"Hey, guys!" Herald called and pushed Ashley gently with the tip of his shoe.
The others slowly came go.
"Where are we?" Kole asked as she turned over on her side.
"That's what we're trying to figure out?" Herald said and tried to sit up.
"I don't like it." Lilian said. "I have a feeling they are gonna experiment on us, or something..."
"Try not making the situation worse." Kole hissed.
"Let's then try ... getting out of here!" Ashley said through gritted teeth. Then she sat up, leaned back, put her flat hands on the floor and lifted herself a centimeter off the floor and moved her butt back on the other side of her hands and let it down on the floor, so her hands were now just under her thighs. Then she leaned forward and let her hands slide down the back of her legs, until they reached her feet and were free.
The others just looked at her.
"What?" She asked. "I can better untie my hands, when they are in front of me."
Suddenly the door opened.
It seemed like is was just a square of light.
Then a man stepped into the room.
He was tall, muscle bound, wore and orange and back costume and wore a mask that only showed one blue eye.
His back were straight and his hands were behind his back.
Then he spoke.
"Joseph."
