Episode 13: To Tell the Truth or to Lie more? That is the question.
As Sonic was starting to get used to his routine of going to school (somewhat), it was time for the best part of school in his opinion, lunch. It was Taco Tuesday. Thankfully, today was what is called an 'A day', where he would only have to attend two classes, the downside was that the classes were three times as long. As he entered the cafeteria, he saw his group of friends. Technically, they were more like otherworldly acquaintances since they weren't from Mobius like him. After getting in line and grabbing a taco and some mashed potatoes, he joined up with the group.
Sonic: Um, hey guy's.
Group: Hey.
Sonic: So, uh, what's the story with you four?
The group just looked at each other with confused looks.
Blaze: Uh, what do you mean by that?
Sonic then scratched his head in embarrassment.
Sonic: I just want to... Get to know you guys better, you know like what friends do? (Nervous chuckle)
The other four looked at each-other, before Knuckles got to talking.
Knuckles: Well things are cool with me, just some exercise and practicing my boxing.
Sonic: You box?
Knuckles: Yup, I'm working my way to being a pro. What about you Sonic?
Shadow: Yes, I'd like to know more about you, especially where you learned how to fight?
Sonic was cornered on this. They wanted to know where he learned how to fight. If he told them, they'd think he was crazy and have him shipped off to a mental institute. He wasn't just gonna blab out his secret right there... Was he? "Tails, where are you, I could use your help right now." Sonic thought. Thankfully, Tails arrived just in time, while putting away his phone.
Tails: Hey guy's, what are ya talking about?
Knuckles: Well Sonic here wanted to talk to us about our lives, so I talked a little about myself.
Silver: You barely told him anything beyond your ludicrous career option.
Knuckles: Hey, keep your fancy words to yourself; I just want to know more about Sonic like he wants to know more about us.
Tails: Oh, well where I and Sonic came from was just a small town, nothing special about it.
Sonic thanked goodness for pulling him out of the situation before he blathered about anything by accident.
Blaze: Well what was the town's name?
Sonic: Uh, Knothole town, very off the map.
Silver: I think I've heard of it, it's supposed to have this thick forest behind it.
Sonic: Yup, that's Knothole town for you, small, quiet, forest friendly.
Shadow: It sounds like a hippie town.
Silver bumped Shadow's arm, not wanting for Sonic or Tails to be offended. For the next several minutes, Tails and Sonic heard the stories of the four human versions of their friends. Silver and Shadow explained how their parents met up at the park and how they eventually got married. Sonic asked Shadow if he knew a girl named Maria. Shadow didn't respond. Tails face palmed at the sheer stupidity of Sonic's question. After that, they learned that Silver was a book worm always putting logic first, while Shadow was a rebel who wanted to become the leader of a heavy metal band which he planned to name 'The Dark Arms'. Knuckles explained why he was wearing that emerald around his neck. Apparently, it was in his family for generations, and the first child of the previous wearer would take on responsibility for protecting it when the turned fifteen. Also, the Rouge of this world apparently tried to snatch it from Knuckles more than a few times, leading Knuckles to despise the tanned girl. "Some things never change." Sonic thought. What Sonic didn't expect was that the Blaze of this world was from a rich family. She told them how she was born with a silver spoon in her mouth but did not allow herself to become self absorbed or snooty, she said she was better than that.
Across the group at another table, five of the six girls (or manes six as pinkie liked to call them) were chatting about Rainbow Dash's race against Sonic.
Twilight: A rematch, but you already won the race Rainbow.
Dash: I know, and it was awesome at first, but he tripped. That's no way to win.
Rarity: Well, I'm glad that you're being a good sport Rainbow Dash, it's nice that you've came a long way from your 'Win at any cost' mentality.
Dash: Uh, let's not go into that, coach Soarin is still egging on me for that.
Applejack: Well ya DID try to knock me into a tree in that race.
As the other five kept up their conversation, Fluttershy kept turning her head to the group of boy's (and one girl) looking at Sonic. Fluttershy just couldn't keep her eyes off of him, or even stop thinking about him. They way he moved, the way he spoke, and her favorite part of all, how he wouldn't let a bully get away with anything. While she didn't support violence of any kind, she LOVED how Sonic gave Mal the beating he deserved.
Pinkie: Uh, Fluttershy?
Fluttershy jerked her head to Pinkie Pie, hoping she wasn't caught.
Fluttershy: Um, yes Pinkie?
Pinkie: What were you staring at? Was it candy? I bet it was candy. No, wait! It was a cute bird flying by the window. Or maybe...
Applejack: Pinkie please, give the girl room ta breath.
Pinkie looked how Fluttershy was trying to withdraw like one of the many turtles she took care of.
Pinkie: Oops, sorry Fluttershy.
Fluttershy: Oh, don't worry about it, but to answer your question, I was just, um, spacing out.
That lie was so bad it made a lie from Applejack sound good. At least that was what Pinkie thought. She wanted to press further, her Pinkie sense (if she had one in this world) told her to.
Pinkie: Are you sure? You look like there's something MAJOR going through your head, and I know major.
Twilight: Pinkie, stop putting your nose into her business, it's rude.
Pinkie: Okay, fine. I'll let you have this one Twilight.
Twilight: Good.
Fluttershy didn't notice it, but Sonic looked at her, if only for a quick moment. Sonic was still awestruck by her beauty, both outer and inner. Her pink hair, her cute laugh, and what Sonic loved most about her, her kindness towards animals and people. None of the other girls in Sonic's life had anything quite like her. Sonic new his blind love for her was wrong. She is a human, born into this world, and he was really a hedgehog from another dimension. Their romance would never work and Sonic knew it. It made him sad, but his love for the girl made it feel small and insignificant.
Blaze: Sonic, are you still with us?
Sonic shook his head and snapped back to reality.
Sonic: Uh, what was that?
Tails: You spaced out big bro.
Sonic: Oh. Uh... These tacos are really good, anyone agree?
Knuckles: You read my mind bro.
Meanwhile, outside, Flash Sentry was walking by, thinking of a new song he could sing to Twilight as a sign of his love for her. While he was thinking, something caught his eye. A faint glow in the bushes, he walked over there to see what it was. What he saw in those bushes both amazed and confused him. There, sitting on its own, was a small green emerald, appearing to give off that same glow he saw. Without much thought, he reached into the bushes and picked it up.
Flash: Wow, this is awesome. I could buy that new guitar with this, or even a new house.
Flash quickly shook his head to rid himself of the greedy thoughts he was having.
Flash: Now hold on there, this could belong to somebody else. I better bring this to the principle.
Flash then put the tiny emerald into his jacket's pocket, proceeding to walk to the principal's office. Unfortunately for Flash, a pair of Ice blue eyes saw the emerald as well, and was planning on taking it himself.
Scourge: Hehehe, you just put a red target on your ass Flashy.
With that, Scourge ran to the back entrance of the school.
The bell rang, telling the students that lunch was over and it was time for class. Sonic and Tails stood up, saying bye to the group, right before Sonic bumped into Fluttershy... Again.
Sonic: Ah,uh, Fluttershy, that was... I mean... Um...
Fluttershy put a hand on Sonics shoulder to calm him down. "Wow, he's pretty strong up there" Fluttershy thought.
Fluttershy: Apology accepted.
Sonic was feeling better now that Fluttershy accepted his apology, even though he didn't get the chance to say it. "Wow, her hand is so soft." Sonic thought. Before things between the two love struck students could go any further, Tails reminded Sonic that they needed to get to class. With that the two (reluctantly) walked away from each other. While they walked down the hall, Rainbow Dash rushed up to the two.
Dash: Wait up you guy's.
Sonic: What is it?
Dash: Well I was thinking. Since you tripped in the last race we had.
Tails: Yeah, sorry about that.
Dash: I think a rematch is in order, when you're better of course.
Sonic: Heck yeah, when I'm back in full running condition, I'll show you what real speed is!
The two shook hands as they went their separate ways. Tails was checking his Miles Electric phone and spotted an energy reading on the other side of the school. He knew he had to get to it. He might be late for class but getting home was far more important.
Tails: Sonic!
Sonic: What?
Tails: There's a Chaos emerald nearby.
Sonic: Really? We'd better go get it before someone else does.
The two the dashed off to find the chaos emerald. Meanwhile, Flash was getting close to the principal's office to turn in the little jewel he found. Unknown to him, scourge was close by.
Scourge: Hehe, I hope you're ready flash, because I'm gonna show you why I'm called Scourge.
Scourge got ready to attack, but then he saw that flash was close to the principal's office. "Crap! I can't get caught by the principle; I'll be shipped back to juvie!" Scourge thought. No way was he going to go back there, especially with that Discord guy messing with the inmate's heads. That's when he saw the two guy's from earlier this morning run by him like he wasn't even there.
Flash pulled the small emerald out of his pocket and took another look at it.
Flash: I wonder who would lose something like this?
He would get his answer as Sonic and Tails ran up from behind him and stopped in front of him.
Sonic: Wait!
Flash stopped and looked at the two tired guy's in confusion.
Sonic: That (pant) Gem in (pant) your hand (pant) doesn't belong to you.
Flash: Yeah, I know that, I was just gonna hand it to the principle for safe keeping.
Tails: You can't (pant).
Flash: What, why?
Sonic: Because (pant) that gem (pant) is mine (pant).
Flash was suspicious about this as he had a questioning look on his face.
Flash: Really, how do I know you're telling the truth?
Sonic: Hold that thought.
Sonic, finally catching his breath, reached into his pocket and pulled out the ultimate warp ring. Flash looked the oversized bracelet (which is what he thought it was) and saw it had a topaz like jewel in it and six empty groves.
Tails: That's one of the gems we lost to our, um, grand mom's bracelet.
Sonic: Yeah, and we need it back.
Flash was still unsure of these two, after all, who would be carrying around there grand mom's bracelet.
Sonic: We'll prove it, just hand it over and we'll show you.
Flash decided to humor the two and gave the emerald to Tails. Tails then put the emerald into the ring, sparking a quick flash of light from it. Flash looked saw that the emerald was perfectly sitting in the once empty grove next to the topaz like gem.
Sonic: What did I tell ya?
Flash: Heh, sorry for doubting you two, I'm Flash, Flash Sentry.
Sonic: Sonic Prower
Tails: Miles Prower, but please call me Tails.
Sonic and Tails shook Flashes hand to finish up there little meeting. The second bell rung, telling the three that they were late for class. With that in mind, Sonic and Tails rushed off. Flash then started walking to band class, only to suddenly be grabbed by the collar of his shirt and slammed against the lockers behind. Who he saw made him cringe in fear.
Flash: S-s-s-s-scourge?!
Scourge: You just made a big mistake bub, a very BIG mistake.
Flash: Mommy.
Back with Sonic and Tails, they were walking as they got closer to their class, while they looked at the second emerald now sitting with the first one. Sonic sighed with frustration.
Tails: What's wrong Sonic?
Sonic: Tails, this whole lying fest is starting to get to me. We were lucky that the guy who had the emerald didn't ask us any questions, but sooner or later, someone might find out.
Tails: What are you implying?
Sonic: Maybe, just maybe, we should *gulp* tell the others.
Tails: What?!
Sonic: The whole lying to our friend's thing is becoming unbearable. Plus they could help us look for the other chaos emeralds.
Tails: Sonic, they won't understand, they'll think we're crazy.
Sonic: I know, but if we ever want to get home, we may need to ask them for help. Besides, I'm getting sick of keeping this secret, even from... Her.
A/N: Wow, this took a long time to get out. Any way's, I'd like to say sorry for my absence since the last time I updated, the power in my house has been rather unreliable as of late so my chapter posting frequency will be varying from now on.
Also, I've noticed that there have been a lot of arguments and random jokes put into the reviews. Guy's, I don't want constant arguments and lame jokes being posted in any of my stories review, I want to know what you think of the chapter or the story as a whole, so please stop it.
I'll see you all later.
