Dear Xiaolin Warriors; It is time for your next great mission. To grow stronger, you must sometimes learn to accept the loss of things dear to you. Your next task is to move on and locate a new home. You will find that your new apprentice possesses the key you need to begin your journey; the Song of Wisdom.
Its notes shall guide you on your journey, but you must be aware that those with wicked intent will try to make you stray from your path. I fear that the forces of darkness will attempt to seize your new home before you can reach it, and they will take advantage of any distraction.
I too must be on my way for a long journey. Young monks; we shall meet again in the future.
As Dojo flew towards the temple of Master Monk Guan with the heroes and their remaining possessions on his back, Ping Pong studied the sheet of music within his diary. The youngest Xiaolin Warrior was sat near the dragon's tail, while team leader Raimundo was sat at the front.
"Perhaps Master Monk Guan will know what Ping Pong's song is about," said the Shoku Warrior of wind.
"I have no idea why Ping Pong has it," Kimiko added. "Could Master Fung have planted it in his diary?"
The little warrior of wood shook his head and repositioned his spectacles. "No; I have had this sheet of music in my diary for as long as I can remember." He passed the sheet along to Omi, who passed it to Clay, then Kimiko and finally Raimundo. "I hope we can decipher what it means!"
"The Song of Wisdom must carry a hidden meaning that will show us the way to our new home!" Omi exclaimed excitedly.
"Hold your horses, little hombre," added Clay. "We need to arrange our stay at Guan's first."
Guan's Temple came into view as the fine mists surrounding it parted, and the heroes got their belongings ready. Dojo continued to remain as silent as he was when they set off, shrinking in size and allowing his passengers to disembark onto the temple courtyard. Just as the tiny dragon solemnly slithered onto Clay's hat, the Xiaolin Warriors were greeted by an unexpected person. In front of them stood their old friend Jermaine, accompanied by their new friend Manu.
Omi ran to Jermaine and embraced him. "Jermaine, it is so good to see you!" the warrior of water proclaimed. "What brings you to Master Monk Guan's temple?"
"I was gonna ask you the same thing," Jermaine replied. "I'm hanging out here because my crib was trashed by those giant beanstalks sprouting up all over New York! Everything's back to normal now, but Guan said I should stay here 'til the repairs are over."
"It was you who saved New York, and the world, wasn't it?" Manu asked the Xiaolin Warriors eagerly. "Guan told me about your Temple's destruction, but I'm glad you managed to defeat Hannibal Bean in the end!" Manu suddenly became sombre. "I'm sorry for your loss."
Jermaine looked both puzzled and shocked. "Did you say something about a bean guy? And did he trash your crib too?"
"I suppose we've got a lot of explaining to do," Clay answered.
"Speaking of which," added team leader Raimundo, "I've got to say something to the Guan meister."
As Raimundo headed towards the ancient monk's abode, Jermaine immediately began to help the Xiaolin Warriors with their belongings. "You can fill me in on what's happened to you guys later, right now you guys need more help than me!"
"These dinosaurs are very feisty!" Ping Pong warned Jermaine as he was handed a terrarium filled with miniaturized dinosaurs, but the tiny ancient reptiles were less puzzling to him than the little monk who gave them to him.
"Hey there, little homie! You Omi's cousin?" he asked Ping Pong.
"No relation!" Omi answered for the diminutive monk, wearing a smug expression. "It is pleasing to know that there are many people with looks as good as mine!"
Kimiko handed a heavy suitcase to Omi in order to wipe the arrogant smile off his face, while Clay carefully carried a box containing the Heylin Seed. "Boris is our new apprentice, but you can call him Ping Pong!" the Shoku Warrior of fire added. "He's the future Xiaolin Dragon of Wood!"
"Sweet! If he looks like Omi, then he probably has cool moves like Omi!" Jermaine exclaimed, making Ping Pong blush. "You into B-ball, Ping Pong?"
Meanwhile, at a small table under a gazebo in the meditation garden, Raimundo joined Guan and his dragon Chucky Choo for some tea. The warrior of wind had described his team's success in defeating Hannibal Roy Bean, but had also described Ping Pong's origins.
"I am unfortunately not surprised that Hannibal would do such a terrible thing," Guan said sternly. "Capturing a descendant of the Lotus Locust Clan and shaping him into one of his pawns...I am glad that he no longer shares this world with us. I promise not to share this information to Ping Pong."
"That brings us to the song," Raimundo continued to explain. "Why does Ping Pong have it, and how will it guide us to a new home?"
Chucky slithered onto the table and looked at the music sheet that Raimundo was holding, and the team leader allowed the dragon to take hold of it. "Looks like the Song of Wisdom!" he said after a few seconds of studying the notes. "It was composed by Barkey Le Bois, the Xiaolin Dragon of Wood and one of five Xiaolin Dragons chosen to defend the Thousand Layer Mountain!"
Guan chuckled softly. "Even though Chucky and I have lived for nearly the same number centuries, he knows some information that I do not, thanks to his travels. Thousand Layer Mountain was home to a legendary temple; some say it is where Grandmaster Dashi found out how to create the Shen Gong Wu. Perhaps Master Fung wishes you to find it and make it your home? It is said to be a great font of mystical power, and I can see why the forces of evil would want to get to it first."
"Each of the five guardians wrote their own song!" added Chucky. "The guys who lived on the mountain practiced mystic arts, so I wouldn't be surprised if playing the Song of Wisdom led you to the other four!"
Raimundo sighed. "We've already tried playing the song, using Kimiko's laptop's music program. Maybe the magic doesn't work with midi files."
"I am certain that some later meditation will allow you to think of a way to begin your quest," Guan said reassuringly, but was slightly confused by the modern terms Raimundo used. "Right now you must aid your friends in making this temple your temporary home."
Jermaine and Manu had managed to unload every piece of luggage the Xiaolin Warriors had bought with them except for one crate. The monks were gathered around it, pondering its contents. Suddenly, Omi impatiently opened the crate using his Shimo Staff Wudai Weapon, revealing a collection of artefacts inside.
"We've been sitting on a goldmine of Shen Gong Wu this whole time?" Clay asked as he inspected the objects inside.
"I remember what these are now! They are the Shen Gong Wu from the treasure trove we found! It was when that deceitful Vlad tricked me into almost leaving my duties as a Xiaolin Warrior by showing me a false future with the Crystal Glasses!" Omi exclaimed.
"Your seventeenth adventure, as written in Kimiko's blog!" Manu added.
Dojo broke his silence for the first time in hours, but he sounded slightly angry. "I can't believe you kids didn't take the time to practice with these and just locked them away!"
"To be honest they didn't really seem like useful ones," said Kimiko.
"What are you talking about?" Dojo questioned her shrilly. "These are some of the best Wu there are! There's the Pearl of Li Bai that forces the target to recite poetry! The Rainbow Star, which turns everything multicoloured! Da Hippa Hoppa, which turns everything you say into rhymes!"
"The Indigo Pyramid, which makes the target change their mind," Kimiko added. She held the Shen Gong Wu in her hand and activated it, making a beam of light shine out from its tip and onto Dojo's head.
"Actually you're right, these are pretty unspectacular Wu," Dojo sighed.
"Are you trippin', man?" Jermaine asked excitedly. "Some of these Wu sound like they were made for a wild magic party!"
"I agree," Raimundo said, arriving to help them with the last crate. "I feel bad that we never practiced with them in front of Master Fung while he was present."
"Chill, dog; I'm sure the boss man will show up eventually," said Jermaine as he rummaged through the unused Shen Gong Wu. He lifted out a pair of red shoes with a golden flame pattern on the front. "Man, these kicks are tight!" he proclaimed, immediately slipping out of his own shoes and into the mystical footwear. "I've been needing a new pair!"
"The Danger Sneakers aren't a fashion statement!" Dojo warned him. "They warn their user of impending danger!"
"Yeah, like wrong moves during a game!" Jermaine said with a grin. The tiny dragon suddenly appeared to cringe in pain, taking Jermaine and the others by surprise as he began to writhe on the floor. "Chill out man, I was only messing with you, I'll put them back!" Jermaine stuttered.
"Actually, brother Jermaine, I believe Dojo is experiencing the activation of a new Shen Gong Wu," Ping Pong said calmly.
"The kid's right!" Dojo grunted, coming back to his senses and producing the scroll of the Shen Gong Wu to consult the information on the new artefact. "It's the Chaos Spiral! Whoever possesses it has the power to scramble the minds and senses of their targets! It can make people see sounds, smell colour and hear odours! It can even make someone think with their spleen instead of their brain!"
Jermaine shuddered. "Sounds messed up, count me out."
"But Jermaine, I thought you'd want to aid us once we saw you again," Omi said sadly, taking hold of his old friend's hand.
"I'll think of doing it someday," Jermaine said, patting the monk of water on the head. "But right now you've got the fifth Xiaolin Warrior to help you guys out! He looks more like your brother than I do!"
Manu sheepishly stepped forward and quickly grabbed a sword shaped Shen Gong Wu from the crate. "Would you guys mind if I tagged along instead?"
Omi's eyes lit up as he took Manu by the hand. "We helped you, so it is your turn to help us! We snap your back and you snap ours!"
Manu looked perturbed, while Raimundo sighed loudly as Dojo enlarged himself so his six passengers could get on. "You mean scratch our backs! C'mon Omi, I thought the lessons I gave you were working!" groaned the team leader as he and his five companions climbed onto the green dragon's back and took off.
"How did you like my fake Shen Gong Wu beacon?" Jack Spicer asked his ghostly companion Wuya as he approached the area where the real Chaos Spiral was located. "I told you I've improved since the last time we were together!"
The pair of evildoers were in a rocky desert, lit by the setting sun. Wuya's Shen Gong Wu senses had tracked the Chaos Spiral to a tiny cave opening in the side of a small, lonely mountain. With the witch spirit watching over his shoulder, Jack crouched down eagerly and prepared to crawl into the hole. The self proclaimed genius paused for a moment after putting his head inside, and then began to shriek in terror.
"I was just about to say I was impressed," Wuya grumbled as he pulled his head out of the small opening and began to hyperventilate. "If I hear anymore screaming from you I'll go back to Chase Young!"
"I saw something move!" Jack whimpered. "Something slimy and crawly!"
"If you don't hurry up, the Xiaolin Warriors will discover your decoy, and I'll show you horrors far more mind shattering than anything you can find in a dark hole!" hissed the ghost. She looked to the sky and saw Dojo flying overhead, which made her even more frustrated. "Why didn't you place the decoy somewhere far away?"
Jack witnessed the dragon too and produced a pair of hi-tech binoculars. "Looks like they have two rookies with them!" Jack laughed. "The mini chrome dome and some other loser! I've just come up with a perfect way to get the Wu without getting spiders in my pants!"
"If all these Shen Gong Wu keep popping up, how are you going to find your new home?" Manu questioned the Xiaolin Warriors as Dojo soared under the clouds.
"Manu makes an excellent point!" Ping Pong chirped. "If we are busy finding the Shen Gong Wu, won't that allow evil to find the Thousand Layer Mountain first?"
Dojo grumbled. "If we don't find the Shen Gong Wu, the world's doomed. If we don't find the Thousand Layer Mountain, the world's doomed. I wish Master Fung was around."
"We could split into a Wu searching team and a temple finding team, but our skills are best when we're together," said Kimiko. "We'd be beaten pretty bad if we were all separated."
Dojo snapped out of his bad temper when an unidentified flying object whizzed by, travelling at a greater speed than he could soar. The mysterious vehicle vanished into the distance, leaving a trail of rainbow vapour behind it. Dojo flew closer to the rainbow, allowing an elated Ping Pong to lean and touch the colourful haze.
"Didn't we have a Wu that could make rainbows like that?" Raimundo asked his companions.
"Yes we did," Clay replied with a smile. "Something tells me we're gonna bump into another old friend..."
Dojo landed near a ghost town in the rocky desert, halting a few feet away from the sign that once welcomed people there. The six adventurers climbed off Dojo as he shrank to his original size, but stopped in their tracks when they saw the unidentified object circling around overhead. The object began to abruptly descend towards them, and as it drew closer, the sound of an engine could be heard.
"Is that who I think it is?" Kimiko questioned Clay quietly.
The vehicle, which resembled a four wheeled all terrain vehicle, touched down gently in front of the party. The quad bike was dark green, with the head of a feathered serpent on the front, and a raised tail at the back. To the surprise of the Xiaolin Warriors, off hopped Clay's sister Jessie.
After taking off her motorcycling helmet, Jessie put on her familiar cowgirl hat. "Fancy meeting you folks here!"
"Baby sis!" Clay exclaimed, rushing to embrace her.
"It's nice to meet you too," Omi said cautiously. "But I am keeping an eye on you."
"I guess it's true that it don't take a very big person to carry a grudge," Jessie had immediately noticed the warrior of water's wariness and sighed. "I know I can't unsay all those cruel words, or undo all the bad things I did to you, but part of the reason I came here was to make amends."
The rest of the heroes smiled bashfully, embarrassed by Omi's rudeness. Clay rested a hand on her shoulder. "You know I forgive you! How have the rest of the gals been?" he asked.
Jessie looked ill at ease. "After I returned your Warts, the other Black Vipers kind of thought I'd gone too soft. Softer than the rotten apples they were, that is. After the way they treated me, I thought it was a good chance to shut up and hit the road."
"Guess they were sore because they thought they'd made off with our Wu," Clay said.
"That was the point I realized that you were right and I was wrong," Jessie continued. "If you wallow with pigs, expect to get dirty. If I'd stayed with the Black Vipers then they'd cause all kinds of trouble with the Warts, and I'd have ended up in hoosegow!"
Clay smiled forgivingly. "Now, now; there's plenty of stuff you're better at than me!" the warrior of earth said as he approached her customized all terrain vehicle. "Looks like you built this baby all by yourself, and equipped it with the Wings of Tinabi! I don't have the brains to come up with anything like that!"
Jessie smiled and patted the snake head on the front of her vehicle. "You're right; the Quetzalcoatl is my pride and joy! I suppose you came here to find a new Shin Gone Wart, and I suppose I better learn the right terminology for these things!"
The other Xiaolin Warriors began to look excited. "It seems that you're familiar with the area!" Ping Pong exclaimed. "Are you going to help us navigate?"
Jessie smiled at the miniature monk's cuteness, but as the other monks began to chuckle, she scowled at them. "Just because the Black Vipers thought I'd gone soft doesn't mean it's true!" she exclaimed. "Now who's gonna look after my ride?"
Manu volunteered, holding up the sword Shen Gong Wu he had bought with him. "I'd just get in the way if you ran into trouble, so I'd be happy to guard it!"
Dojo, perched on Raimundo's shoulder, shook his head. "That's the Komori Sword; it lets the user fight well in the dark and cling to ceilings like a bat! It's no use outdoors when there's still a few hours of daylight left!" he proclaimed.
"Don't be so hard on him, Dojo," Raimundo added. "He'll be fine just staying out here!"
Manu waved the Xiaolin Warriors and Jessie off as they walked into the foreboding ghost town, followed by a tumbleweed as the wind blew up a small dust storm. After a few minutes of standing quietly by Jessie's Quetzalcoatl, Manu was startled by the sudden reappearance of Raimundo behind him.
"Back already?" Manu asked, still recovering from his shock.
Raimundo gave a big, unnatural smile. "That's right, young human male!" he answered in a vaguely monotone voice. "I have come back to give you a top secret mission!"
"Why are you away from the others?" Manu questioned the warrior of wind again, feeling somewhat puzzled by his unusual behavior and mannerisms.
Raimundo's smile became even larger and intimidating. "The handsome Jack Spicer might be watching us! The others have gone in the wrong direction to distract him, but I know where the real Chaos Spiral is!"
Manu's eyes widened. "Oh, so I'll be in no danger at all while trying to get the Shen Gong Wu? It's awful nice of you to elect me to join you!" Manu was getting bashful as Raimundo guided him to the lonely mountain where the newly revealed artifact was hidden.
Raimundo pointed to the small cave opening. "The Wu's in there! Jack probably can't fit in that hole; his muscles are simply too huge."
Manu's anxiety and bashfulness now made him completely ignore how the Xiaolin leader was acting strangely. Manu grinned uneasily at Raimundo and crawled into the hole, using a few small footholds on the inside to climb down to the cave's floor. He was startled as the footholds collapsed, preventing from climbing back up and out.
The boy noticed a shiny object in the beam of light provided by the small opening; an odd medallion with a black and orange spiral upon it, sitting on a natural plinth of rock. His eyes lit up and his heart began to beat quickly; he had just successfully hunted for a Shen Gong Wu like his heroes.
"I've found it, Rai!" Manu yelled up towards the warrior of wind.
"Name 'Rai' does not," droned Raimundo's voice.
"So sorry, Raimundo! Forgot about you authority as leader!" Manu said with a stutter, blushing in embarrassment.
"That's great, little boy!" Raimundo exclaimed, sounding slightly more human. "Toss it up here and we can go back home to play baseball and eat hamburger!" Raimundo had said the words 'baseball' and 'hamburger' in a slightly louder and more monotonous voice.
Manu hesitated momentarily. "So you want me to toss it up to you first, before I get out?"
"Affirmative, dude friend!" Raimundo replied. "Baseburger and hamball can commence afterwards!"
Manu grunted loudly as he threw the Chaos Spiral out of the small opening. The magic medallion struck Raimundo's head with a metallic clunking sound and then fell into the wind warrior's open palm. Manu could see the Shoku Warrior through the hole, but gasped as he witnessed his hero transform. Standing in Raimundo's place was the Chameleon Bot.
Wuya and Jack Spicer came into view, and the shape changing robot handed the Shen Gong Wu over to the boy genius. "It worked! What a relief!" Wuya exclaimed.
"My files of Raimundo's personality were incomplete, but I think old Chameleon Bot gave a good performance anyway!" Jack said smugly.
"The gullibility of the monk's little friend almost makes me forget about your failings," Wuya added.
"Thanks...I think," Jack said.
Manu called from out of the hole. "I'm pretty sure there's no way I can get out of here myself. Would you help me out?"
The evil boy genius peered into the opening to see Manu's doleful expression, despite how tiny he appeared. Jack looked hesitant for a moment, feeling sorry for the boy. However, when he saw Wuya's expression, Jack forgot about compassion in order to impress her.
"Sorry pal, you're out of luck!" he answered Manu with a sneer. "With this Wu, you won't have a home to return to anyway!"
The boy genius, ghost witch and their robot casually strolled away. As Manu stayed in the hole, he began to think of ways to escape his fate. The only item he had was the Komori Sword Shen Gong Wu, but he gradually remembered what Dojo had said about it. Holding the sword up and calling its name, Manu's eyes seemed to instantly adjust to the surrounding darkness. With the cave now seemingly bright as day, Manu spied a boulder partially blocking another cave.
"If I can carry the luggage of an entire film crew, I can definitely move that rock," he said to himself to build confidence.
Manu pushed against the large rock and was relieved to find that it could be easily rolled to one side. He uncovered a long tunnel that seemed to stretch as far as he could see with the Shen Gong Wu he held, in a direction that seemed to be the same way he came with the impostor Raimundo. Manu began to think that the tunnel could bring him to a location near to where his friends were.
It did not take long for him to realize that the tunnel was a dead end; the floor in front of him seemed to suddenly stop, giving way to a pit that seemed bottomless. Manu was about to give up hope until he remembered that his sword possessed another special ability. With a deep breath, Manu leaped into the air and over the pit, although the pit was too long for anyone to leap across.
However, when Manu opened his eyes to find that he was still standing on something solid. To his delight he found that the Komori Sword had allowed him to stand upside down on the roof of the cave. Filled with determination, Manu began to run across the ceiling, further through the tunnel. He became even more determined when he saw a small amount of light at the end.
At Master Monk Guan's Temple, the wise master's fellow monks and Jermaine were putting in the finishing touches to the Xiaolin Temple monk's temporary accommodations. As soon as they finished their work, they heard the noise of an engine unlike any they had heard at the Temple before. Most of the monks ran out into the courtyard to investigate the sound, but Jermaine simply peered out of the window, accustomed to the noise of jet engines.
However, the New York Wudai Warrior was shocked to find his feet dancing all by themselves as the vehicle arrived at the Temple, hovering close to the ground and making the monks stand back. Guan emerged from the Temple himself to inspect the visitor, but was perturbed when he realized the vehicle's appearance matched some of Jack Spicer's handiwork that the Xiaolin Warriors had described to him.
The vehicle resembled a flying saucer with a dome shaped cockpit, constructed from silver metal painted black and red. Underneath its body was a circular hatch with a yellow and red spiral pattern, which began to open up slowly. A mechanical arm holding the Chaos Spiral emerged from the opening and pointed the Shen Gong Wu at the spectators below.
"Smile for the UFO!" laughed the voice of Jack from the vessel's loudspeaker.
The numerous cables attached to the mechanical arm began to glow red, and the same red glow began to emit from the Chaos Spiral it gripped. A large ray of crimson energy shot out of the magical medallion, sweeping across the courtyard and catching every Monk in its blast, including Guan. The monks were uninjured, but seemed to be either writhing on the ground or wandering about in a confused state as their senses went out of control.
Guan fell to his knees and clutched his head, trying to fight the painful disorientation. Jack Spicer's UFO simply hovered over him and landed behind the crowd of incapacitated onlookers, extending its four landing legs. The mechanical arm retracted and was replaced by a ladder, allowing the evildoers within to disembark.
"This would've been more impressive if you didn't have to resort to modern technology," Wuya mumbled.
"My Undeniably Fiendish Object's Shen Gong Wu amplifying generator will surpass magic one day," Jack scoffed, agitating the evil spirit. "When I take over the world, there'll be one in every home!"
Jack stopped in his tracks and looked up at the ancient temple, closing one eye and making a frame with his fingers which he held at varying distances away from his face. "What are you daydreaming about now?" Wuya asked impatiently.
"Once we deal with the twerps when they get back, let's get to work on making this Jack Spicer's Temple of Doom!" he replied with a mischievous grin. "I came so close to taking over the Xiaolin Temple, but I'll happily settle for this now it's destroyed!"
Jermaine, who had been quietly observing them from the window, ducked down when the evil duo came nearer. The Danger Sneakers on his feet had made him dance when Jack had arrived, and his feet were still twitching. To his alarm, he almost crouched down on top of Chucky Choo. Jermaine placed a firm hand over the pudgy dragon's mouth to prevent him from crying out in shock.
"Jack's gonna trash the place if we don't think of something!" Jermaine whispered, releasing his grip on Chucky.
Chucky gasped for air quietly before whispering back. "I'm hightailing it outta here so Dojo and his kids can clean things up!"
Jermaine seemed rather dismayed. "Hold on Chucky dog, you're just ditching Guan and his temple and treating it as some other guy's problem? Aren't you supposed to be the temple guardian dragon or something? Grow big and shoot fire at that wimpy Goth guy!"
"Are you implying that all dragons are like that?" Chucky asked indignantly, trying hard not to raise the volume of his voice in his frustration. "Dojo does the flying, fire breathing and Wu finding! I stay out of sight when things get nasty."
"So you've got nothing at all," Jermaine said quietly, seeing that Chucky was upset. "There's no way you can get any more dragon powers, is there?"
Chucky suddenly seemed to perk up, but gasped in shock when he noticed a team of Jack-bots moving down the hallway. Jermaine grasped Chucky tightly ask his feet began to shuffle all by themselves, and placed one of the unused Shen Gong Wu he was carrying over his face. "Mask of Rio!"
The Xiaolin Warriors and Jessie were roaming through the ghost town, unable to find the Shen Gong Wu they were looking for. All of a sudden, Dojo underwent another spasm as if another Shen Gong Wu had activated.
"Does he always do this when one of your warts pops up?" Jessie questioned Kimiko.
"Basically," Kimiko replied wearily. "Sometimes the warts pop up on him."
"This is bad!" Dojo exclaimed, trying to control his involuntary movements. "Seems like the Chaos Spiral has been tampered with, and it's now somewhere near Guan's Temple!"
Raimundo struck his forehead with the palm of his hand. "Jack Spicer! He duped us with a phony Shen Gong Wu signal again!"
"And it also sounds like he's supercharged the Chaos Spiral! With that power, Guan's place will be easy pickings!" Clay added.
Dojo enlarged himself, destroying a rickety shack that was close by. "What about Manu?" Ping Pong asked the dragon.
"We're not going to let him be subjected to the Chaos Spiral!" the Shoku Warrior of wind replied. "Jessie can go pick him up and bring him back when the coast is clear!"
The five Xiaolin Warriors leapt onto their dragon as Jessie wished them all good luck, especially her brother. A few moments after Jessie watched Dojo soar into the sky, she heard a rattling noise from the basement door of the derelict house behind her. To her shock, the door was kicked off its hinges by a dusty looking Manu, clutching the Komori Sword.
"I was just coming to fetch you, kid!" Jessie exclaimed, sounding slightly angry. "Why'd you leave the Quetzalcoatl unguarded?"
"We can explain on the way there!" Manu replied. "Raimundo and the others are heading into a trap!"
It did not take long for the Xiaolin Warriors to arrive at Guan's Temple, and they were shocked to see it had signs of being redecorated with a more ominous looking colour scheme. "Not again," Kimiko mumbled, remembering the time Jack had tried to refurbish their old temple.
Omi was more worried about the disorientated monks around him. Dojo shrank to his original size and hopped onto the little monk's bald head. "If we can find the Chaos Spiral, we can reverse its effects!" Dojo explained.
"You mean this little thing?" said the voice of Jack Spicer from the Temple's main entrance. He was holding the magical amulet, trying to tease the heroes with it.
The five heroes immediately assumed a fighting stance, with Omi and Ping Pong at the front of the group. "Jack Spicer, prepare to suffer a humiliating defeat!" yelled the warriors of water and wood in synchrony.
Jack cringed and held his hands over his ears. "Ugh, cheese ball in stereo!" he groaned.
Omi and Ping Pong charged towards him; Omi used his Wudai weapon to strike at the evildoer's feet, while Ping Pong leapt at Jack's face. Their combined effort quickly knocked the boy genius off his feet in a fraction of a second, letting the Chaos Spiral roll out of his hand.
Dojo, who had been hiding within Omi's robes, revealed himself and inspected the Chaos Spiral. "Hold on a sec," he said, gripping the amulet and easily breaking it in half, "This is just some stale cookie sprayed with Shen Gong Wu scent!"
The five Xiaolin Warriors and their dragon were struck by a wave of energy from the real Chaos Spiral, held by the real Jack Spicer. The Jack Spicer they had incapacitated transformed back into Chameleon Bot and stood silently, as though waiting for more orders.
"Everything sounds...purple," Raimundo groaned, experiencing sensations unlike anything he had experienced before as his senses became scrambled. He was bought to his knees as the world around him became nonsensical.
"Guys," Kimiko said, "I'm seeing things...with my fingers." Kimiko began wandering around, trying to see what had happened with what were effectively ten independently moving eyes. Clay couldn't hear what she was saying because his eyes, nose and ears were all trying to taste everything.
Jack Spicer gleefully tiptoed towards the incapacitated heroes, snatching the Helmet of Jong from Clay. "Now these losers are out of the picture, it's time to raid this place's Wu vault!"
Jack pranced back inside the Temple while Chameleon Bot stood guard of the entrance. Shortly afterwards, the Quetzalcoatl swooped down from the sky. Jessie and Manu hopped off the flying vehicle, but were immediately met with the sight of their disorientated friends in the courtyard.
"I don't know a lot about Shen Gong Wu," said Jessie, tending to her confused brother, "But I know these magical whatchamacallits sometimes resolve themselves once you take out the varmint who's using them."
"We've gotta find Jack Spicer!" Manu exclaimed.
His exclamation caught the attention of the Chameleon Bot, who walked menacingly towards them. Manu began to cower, but Jessie remained vigilant and assumed a battle ready position to defend him. But when the Chameleon Bot transformed into a ferocious metal lion, Jessie began to look fearful too.
Jessie spotted something out of the corner of her eye; a patch of the wall of the temple appeared to be shifting and moving. All of a sudden, the fragment of the wall appeared to break off and assume human form. Manu spotted it too, and it became clear to him that it was Jermaine. The Mask of Rio had camouflaged him against the walls of the temple and he was ready to strike.
"Eel wiping feet!" Jermaine yelled, sweeping his legs underneath the mechanical lion to trip it up before launching it away with the mop he wielded. The Chameleon Bot struck a wall hard enough to leave a crack, heavily damaged by the single strike.
Jermaine seemed to twirl his mop around with pride before turning to Manu and Jessie. "Seems like I'm too late, but I know how to fix this."
"Who the heck are you?" Jessie asked. "Some kind of janitor?"
The New Yorker warrior scowled at her. "So that's the thanks I get for saving your behind?" he dropped the mop and folded his arms.
"Jermaine, this is Jessie! She's Clay's sister!" Manu said to his friend. "Jessie, this is Jermaine! He's a Wudai Warrior from New York!"
Jessie narrowed her eyes. "Oh, so he's a city slicker, huh?"
Chucky leaped out of Jermaine's pocket and onto the ground in between him and the cowgirl. "Whoa, settle down boys and girls! You've only just met!"
"Chucky dog's right!" Jermaine said. "We'll clean up the robots while Manu gets the Chaos Spiral."
Manu's eyes widened and he looked visibly flustered. "Why me? I'm too scared!"
Jermaine smiled warmly and placed a hand on his shoulder. "I'm scared too. My moves are nowhere near as fresh as Omi and his homeys, but I know that I can't let them down."
"I'd usually tell you to take no orders from a city slicker, Manu," Jessie whispered to him, "But this fella's right. You managed to get outta that hole that Spicer varmint put you in; you'd be as unexpected as a desert rainstorm."
Manu appeared to be less fearful, and both Jessie and Jermaine smiled. "They've saved me before! I got them into this mess; now it's time I get them out!"
Jack was busy helping himself to Guan's lavish dining hall, scoffing the food that had been prepared for the Xiaolin Warriors for their stay at the Temple. In between mouthfuls, Jack told his Jack-bots how to refurbish the room.
"You're allowed to use any shade of red you want, as long as it isn't too brilliant," he explained. "So no scarlet!"
Wuya hovered impatiently behind him. "Jack! You've already eaten more than a person needs in one sitting! It's time to set out and conquer the world!"
"But I haven't even prepared the podium I'm going to use to announce my conquest on TV!" the villain whined.
"Jack, how many times do I have to tell you that it's a lectern, not a podium!" Wuya growled, pointing to the rickety wooden stand that Jack had created.
While the ghost and boy genius argued, Manu managed to sneak inside with the power of the Mask of Rio. The Jack-bots that inhabited the dining hall paid no attention to the patch of floor that seemed to creep across the ground and merge with a nearby wall. Manu managed to crawl to the edge of the table, noticing the Chaos Spiral was perched there, its chain dangling.
Manu tugged at it, but to his dismay, he found that Jack had placed his hand on it at the same time. When it began to glow, signifying the beginning of a Xiaolin Showdown, Jack noticed that Manu was holding it too. "Hey, what's the big idea? You were supposed to stay in that hole! I hate heroic resolve!"
Manu looked at Jack in the eyes and rose to his feet, as did the evildoer. "Jack Spicer! I challenge you to a Xiaolin Showdown!" He was trying his best not to stutter out of apprehension, but Jack grinned, as though he knew that the boy was afraid. "I wager my Bullhorn Blazer against your Helmet of Jong!"
"The game will be skating for survival!" Jack said with a sneer. "Keep going and avoid the dangers, or you're out! Let's go; Xiaolin Showdown!"
In a flash, the Temple began to twist and turn, eventually breaking apart. It rearranged itself into a bizarre racecourse of tiles in a starry void, surrounded by intact parts of the Temple floating in space. The course had many ramps, half pipes and jumps worthy of a skateboard course. Jack's lecturn had broken apart, and two of its pieces became ornately carved skateboards for the competitors.
"Gong Yi Tan Pai!" shouted Jack and Manu.
Jack managed to have a head start by pushing himself forward with his foot on the ground, while Manu only managed to cover the same distance with multiple steps. Both of them reached a downhill part of the track, which provided them with enough momentum to power through the course. Tiles were beginning to give way, making gaping holes in the road ahead that needed to be avoided.
Jack used the half pipes at the sides of the track to avoid the holes, while Manu teetered between them, always remaining behind. Knowing that he did not have the speed or skating skills to catch up to his opponent, Manu resorted to using his wagered Shen Gong Wu. The Bullhorn Blazer resembled a golden horn, and when Manu blew into it, a blazing spectral bull appeared to charge ahead of him.
The bull charged faster than the two of them could skate, and quickly caught up to Jack Spicer. Jack Managed to avoid the bull in the nick of time, and the bull continued to race ahead until it ran off the edge of the track and into the abyss.
"You're not trying that again! I've got my eye on you!" Jack said, trying to pretend that the bull had not caught him by surprise. He placed the Helmet of Jong on his head, granting him the power to see both ahead of him and behind.
To his amusement, Manu repeatedly used the Bullhorn Blazer again and again. He created a stampede's worth of spectral bulls, but Jack effortlessly dodged them as they were capable of only travelling in straight lines. "I'm beginning to see why that was one of the Wu you Xiaolin losers locked away!"
As the two of them had been racing around the track, the course became more perilous. Large parts of the track were now missing, and ramps were beginning to be less useful and more of an obstacle. "Maybe I wanted you to keep an eye on my attacks!" Manu said confidently.
Jack was confused by what the boy had said, but it soon became apparent he was focussing more on what was behind himself than in front. Jack hurriedly removed the helmet to focus all his vision forwards but it was too late; a ramp sent him hurtling off the track and into the abyss below.
"Dang you newbie! Dang you!" he screamed.
Manu came to a halt on the track and held out his hands; the Chaos Spiral descended slowly from above and into his palm. The outer space skateboard course vanished in a flash of light, and Manu was surprised to see that the Xiaolin Warriors were crowded around him. Even Master Monk Guan was there, smiling proudly.
"Jessie told me everything, despite me only being able to hear with my butt at the time," Raimundo said with a smile, making the others feel slightly uncomfortable. "Making up for your mistakes is one of the most important qualities of a Xiaolin Warrior."
"Leader Raimundo has made a most interesting suggestion!" Omi added.
Master Monk Guan placed a hand on Manu's shoulder. "The Xiaolin Warriors have an important mission ahead of them; they cannot be distracted by any Shen Gong Wu that activate, or else the forces of evil will gain an advantage."
"What we are saying is that we want you to collect the Shen Gong Wu for us!" Omi said.
Manu looked shocked. "By myself? I just got lucky in that showdown!"
"As you train, you will master the art of Xiaolin Showdown," Guan continued. "There will be two other warriors joining you. Since you saved my temple, I know you three have the potential."
At that moment, Jessie and Jermaine walked into the dining hall. The two of them were arguing over who had defeated the most robots, with both of them holding a head of a Jack-bot as their trophies. "You sure my baby sister can handle it?" Clay asked Guan.
"Hold on a second," Kimiko said. "We need Dojo to fly us around, so how are they going to find us the Wu?"
Dojo hopped off Clay's shoulder and announced to the group. "Allow me to explain!"
The dragon was interrupted by the loud coughing of Jack Spicer. The heroes turned to see the defeated boy genius pick up the remains of his lectern and look at them forlornly. "Well, guess I'm gonna have to use these as firewood," he moaned, "Due to not having heating...due to not having a home..."
Jack stared at them for a few awkward seconds of silence; his adversaries appeared unimpressed. Eventually he dropped the wood and pointed at them, grinning. "Haha, fooled you into letting me stay!" he guffawed, but the Xiaolin Warriors scowled at him. "Oh, I didn't?" he asked, extending the propellers of his Heli-bot on his back. "Well...bye..."
The heroes turned back to face Dojo and ignored Jack Spicer making his escape. "As Dojo was saying," Chucky Choo continued, slithering up next to his dragon friend, "We dragons have a special way of sharing our special abilities with each other!"
"Why has this never come up before?" Kimiko asked incredulously.
"Shush! It's because we never needed it!" Dojo replied. "It's a top secret tradition of dragonkind!"
The humans watched Dojo and Chucky in bewilderment as they seemed to perform an elaborate secret handshake. The bizarre dance culminated in the two dragons spitting into their palms and shaking hands, making most of the onlookers wince in disgust.
"That's nasty," mumbled Jermaine. Jessie had not cringed at all and rolled her eyes at him.
When the handshake was complete, the two dragons sat motionless for a moment. "So when does it kick in?" Chucky asked.
"I just shared my Wu sensing powers with you," Dojo replied smugly. "When one of them pops up, you'll definitely know!"
"Oh boy," Chucky said hesitantly.
"Convenient powers are good and all," Raimundo said, "But how are we going to find the next song we need to find our new crib?"
Ping Pong asked Manu for the Chaos Spiral and walked forward, holding the medallion for all to see. The other Xiaolin Warriors recoiled, thinking of the unpleasant experiences they had earlier. "I was struck by an idea while under this Shen Gong Wu's effects," the warrior of wood explained. "If we're exposed to its powers in a miniscule amount of time, our senses could be altered in a way that would lead us to the next song. Sister Kimiko; please play the Song of Wisdom from your computer while I activate the Chaos Spiral for a brief moment."
"Okay little partner, but I don't like where this is going," the warrior of earth muttered.
Kimiko produced her laptop a moment later, while Ping Pong used the Shen Gong Wu gently. He and his friends began to see colourful musical notes soar out of the laptop, spiralling into the air. "We can see the sound now!" Omi proclaimed eagerly.
Ping Pong suddenly pointed upwards; a different set of musical notes was drifting in through an open window. The heroes rushed outside to see the notes originated from a trail through the sky, coming from over the horizon in a westerly direction.
"Ping Pong, you're a genius!" Raimundo exclaimed. "We couldn't hear the next song earlier because it had to be seen! But it's almost as if the writers of the songs knew we'd use the Chaos Spiral."
Master Monk Guan smiled. "Grandmaster Dashi mastered his skills at Thousand Layer Mountain. It's quite possible that the mystics who lived there understood the powers of his Shen Gong Wu more than he did."
"No way!" huffed Dojo, as though he was offended.
The Xiaolin Leader gathered his friends together and they observed the notes coming from the hills in the west. He looked down at Omi and Ping Pong, who looked up at the rest of their companions. "Well guys, looks like we're setting off on a new chapter of our story."
"Surely we must have walked at least five hundred miles of our thousand mile journey!" Omi said triumphantly.
"There could be more to go," Clay added. "We don't know what's in store for us!"
Many miles away, a dark figure watched the Xiaolin Warriors in the waters of his scrying pool. A small but eager grin appeared on his face, and the sound of gentle chuckling filled the air. Chase Young violently plunged his hand through the pool, destroying the image of the heroes.
