RK777: And we're back for another installment.
Vile: *wakes up* Ngh... I must've passed out from all the salt last time.
RK777: Morning, Sleeping Beauty. And here I thought I'd be accused of hijacking your feed.
Vile: Nah. I just got overloaded from the sheer salt of people over the final presentation of Super Smash Bros. I'm just happy to get new content (even though another Fire Emblem character is a bit of a disappointment).
RK777: Yeah, I'da liked to have seen Waluigi or Black Shadow myself, or more obscure Nintendo characters like Captain N; or even Sweet Tooth.
Vile: I would say Twisted Metal's too much, but we got Bayonetta, so my mouth is shut there. At least we have the fake trailers I make to see how they'd look.
RK777: Right? There's a whole slew of characters we could try and bring in, and maybe we might see them in the next SSB. Ooh, or better idea...Nintendo/Sony crossover fighter.
Vile: Whoa, cool those thrusters, Rocket. I don't think Smash and PS All-Stars would ever clash in real life. As for fiction, though... hee hee, well, that'll be a fine time to get into this chapter. Enjoy, folks!
Yu-Gi-Oh! GSTART
Level 014: Triple True Duel! Settling Conflicts With Cards!
*Recap*
Kohaku: Last time on Yu-Gi-Oh! GSTART, a lot of stuff happened. Plata-chan helped Kowa-kun out of a jam, and he ended up a big part of getting them out of it, but they were lucky that Ginju-kun showed up when he did. I gave Nazo-chan a little help, but she wasn't too happy. Oh well, at least I discovered these weird Bonus Games and Silver Coins in the Silver Game Card. We've got a True Duel between two arguing sisters coming up, and I also sense one between myself and this Gamma dude, Phil. It is ON!
*Actual Time* *Unknown Location*
A shadowed man sat in a chair, holding a blue Gamepad with four mini-video screens on the Touch Screen, showing the six Sykonetyks, Pyro still being conveniently shadowed. "Status report." The man said.
"Multiple idiots wiped out like a rowboat in a storm!" Hydro said with a grin. "This is gonna be a snap for our District!"
"Not when I get my hands on you, it won't!" Geo snapped. "You'll be slammed into the ground so hard, you'll be coughing dirt for a week!"
"So you say, Geo." Cryo said calmly.
"Don't you start acting like you're some hotshot! You haven't seen what Aero and I can do yet!" Electro butted in.
"Knock it off!" The man snapped, startling them. "You morons sound like you're actually believing this façade… Have you completely lost track of the mission?"
"Hey, don't act like we're some incompetent losers! We know what our mission is!" Hydro shot back. "Have you even looked at the radar lately?"
"Isn't that YOUR job?" The man asked.
"Yes it is, sir. But we've been doing it as you wanted." Pyro told him. "We've simply found absolutely nothing."
Their leader was silent for a few seconds. "…You cannot be serious."
"Don't believe us? Take a look!" Electro said, pulling up a radar screen with an outline of the four mainland Districts of Sigma City. Despite a radar wave washing over the city, nothing showed up.
"Hmm…" The man asked before typing on the Gamepad. A fifth video screen appeared, moving the others out of the way a bit and showing another figure, also shadowed like Pyro, though the neckline of his own suit was slightly visible, showing a hint of cyan. "Psycho, what's the status of your surveillance of Zeta Island?"
"I've got nothing, sir." Psycho admitted, completing the radar map with that of Zeta Island. "I'm currently on the ferry that's bringing the students from the only participating Zeta school to the mainland, and I've got nothing here, either."
Their leader let out a heavy sigh. "We screwed up, didn't we?" Hydro asked, he and most of the Sykos looking worried.
"…Not a bit, Hydro." The man said. "In fact, things are going a lot smoother than I expected." Confused looks resulted from Hydro, Cryo, Geo, Electro, and even Aero. "You haven't found anything on the radar… which means that none of THEM have been awakened yet."
"For those who forgot, none of them awakening is what we want." Pyro said.
The five confused Sykonetyks let out a breath. "Oh yeah… I forgot about that." Geo said, a few agreements following.
"So… we didn't mess up…?" Aero breathed.
"No. We're still in the clear so far." Their leader said. "However, we need to change tactics. Even with the technology Psycho supplied to us at the stage and the rallies, the students will begin to realize that we've started a wild goose chase to try and hunt them down."
"I think some of them already realize it." Pyro mused. "The one who has the card, Kohaku Yudin… I saw his face at the rally. He wasn't buying it one bit. Neither were his friends."
"That boy is either protected by the card or simply too smart to fool." The man said. "Regardless, it's time to get back on track. Kohaku Yudin has the card, so I want all of you except Psycho and Pyro to track him or his friends down, whichever comes first, and get that card."
"And if we run into someone who doesn't have it?" Geo asked.
"Take them out as you please. I have no objections." The leader said, making the five in the field grin or smirk. "Pyro, you stay incognito for now. If the others fall, you act."
"Understood, sir." Pyro replied.
"Sorry you won't get any action for now, Pyro." Hydro said. "Don't worry. Cryo and I will handle Yudin. I've wanted a rematch ever since he beat me that day, anyway." He and Cryo smiled at each other.
"Hmph. Good idea, Driphead." Geo said. "A rematch sounds like a good idea to me, too! I'm gonna track down that Dizzy punk and make him pay for spinning me out!"
"Aero, you up for the revenge game, too?" Electro asked.
Aero smiled lazily. "Why not, heh heh… That Doc kid probably won't expect me again…" Electro giggled.
"What about me, sir?" Psycho asked.
"When the ferry lands, make yourself scarce. They don't know about you yet, so you can still at least walk around them." The leader told him.
"Got it." Psycho replied.
"Good. Now then, everyone, back into positions. Move!" Their leader said.
"Yes, sir!" All seven Sykonetyks said.
*With Kohaku and Phil*
"We've definitely been dealing with some weird crap lately, haven't we?" Phil asked, he and Kohaku sitting near a Restore Station.
Kohaku LP:4000
Phil LP:4000
"You are not kidding, Phil-kun. These Sykonetyk dudes have been sending the city into a riot!" Kohaku complained. "I still remember how Hydro tried to flood my school!"
"You think that's bad? Some dumb cluck tried to turn MY school into a giant bonfire!" Phil told him. "That Pyro punk is one heck of a snake, managing to slither off unseen each time!"
Kohaku sighed. "I don't get it. Why was every District so willing to just turn on each other like that?"
"I know, it's insane. I almost fell for it myself." Phil admitted.
"There you are!" A female voice cried. Kohaku and Phil turned to see a girl running toward them. She had blue eyes and bubblegum pink hair done in two shoulder-length pigtails that curled up slightly at the bottom, with a blue headband on her head. She was wearing a white cheerleader outfit with blue shoulders and blue sleeves, the words "Gamma Jets" on the chest area, with two blue lines across the waistline, an above-knee-length skirt with a white layer and a blue layer, and simple white shoes, a duffel bag slung over her shoulder. She came to a stop in front of them, panting.
"Yoko? Where were you?" Phil asked.
Yoko managed to catch her breath. "I finally got to school for cheerleader practice after having to miss school, and then I find out it was cancelled! I've been looking all over for you!"
(Yoko Morikawa Voice Actor: Krystal Meadows as Tina Kwee from Detentionaire)
Phil gave a sheepish laugh. "Sorry, Yoko. I should've called you about that, heh heh." Yoko couldn't stay mad and giggled.
Kohaku looked back and forth between the two for a moment, then smiled. Looking at Phil, he pointed at Yoko. "Girlfriend?"
"Yep." Phil and Yoko both said, Yoko hooking an arm around Phil's shoulders.
"Luckier than me, man. I'm still single." Kohaku mused, making them all laugh.
"So, Yoko, how've you been holding up in this War?" Phil asked.
"Decent, I guess. Haven't lost that many Life Points." Yoko replied.
Yoko LP:2700
"Have you and the PS had any luck in this insanity?" The girl asked.
"Plenty of it." Phil said with a thumbs-up.
Kohaku looked confused. "'PS'? Is that a card series or something?"
Phil pulled out his hand, which he stashed away. "My signature line: The Pixel Soldiers!" He said, showing Kohaku the cards.
However, Kohaku looked shocked. "…P-Pixel?!" He swiped one of the monsters out of Phil's hand.
"Oi!" Phil griped. Kohaku poured over the card he swiped.
"What the hell? Your cards are ripping off my Pixel HEROes!" Kohaku cried.
"Nani? Who are you calling a rip-off?" Yoko yelled, clearly angry. "If anything, your cards ripped off Phil's!"
"I ain't no plagiarist!" Kohaku shot back.
Phil's hands came between their heads. "Whoa, hey, easy! Let's not try to kill each other here!" He looked at Kohaku. "What were those 'Pixel HEROes' you were talkin' about?" Kohaku fished out his Deck, showing off the cards. Phil looked at them, impressed. "Whoa… So there's another set of Pixel cards…"
"Are your cards supposed to be special or something?" Kohaku asked with a raised eyebrow.
"I always thought they were." Phil said. "But I guess there's two lines that call upon video games' greats." He smirked at Kohaku. "Wanna see whose are better?"
Kohaku smirked back, giving Phil back his card. "You are on, Phil-kun! And I know only one good way for this: A True Duel with Game Mode!"
"You read my mind." Phil said. He and Kohaku left the table and took positions in the street, Yoko backing up Phil. The two boys placed their D-Gazers over their eyes (Phil's having a black frame, a blue lens, and a monogrammed "PS" on it), then Kohaku sent Phil a True Duel request, which Phil tapped "Accept" to.
"TRUE DUEL ACCEPTED." The AR system said. "AR VISION, LINK ESTABLISHED." An odd red field formed around them, Yoko, and any other spectators, flashing once before fading. "ARMISTICE FIELD IN EFFECT. ESTABLISHING LINK BETWEEN A AND B." Kohaku and Phil's D-Gazers flashed, as did those of the spectators.
"Give a good fight, Phil!" Yoko chirped.
Kohaku and Phil got a VS Splash between them. "TRUE DUEL!"

At a harbor in the southwest of Beta District, a ferry boat just finished pulling up to the dock. Upon landing, a large group of teenagers began to disembarking the vessel. They all had school uniforms on: The boys wearing black blazers and pants, and the girls wore black sailor fuku uniforms and jackets. They all had a crest on their uniforms signifying their school, which included a visible Greek letter Zeta on them.
Once they were all off the ship, one of them moved in front of the pack and turned towards them: A somewhat large-built yet lean boy at age 17, having thick shoulder-blade length chocolate brown hair, eyes of the same color, and a red doo rag atop his head. His facial features gave him a wolfish look. "My fellow students of Zeta Island!" He said into a megaphone, gaining their attention. When he spoke, sharp canines could be seen, adding to his wolfish facade. "We have been forced to end this farce of a war because somebody decided to violate the sanctity of our school! Exploding water pipes, forced earthquakes, fiery bursts, and repositioning school property are not jests, but merely a challenge that will incur the wrath of Zeta!"
The crowd roared in agreement, the boy holding up his hands to quiet them. However, as he did, a figure with a hint of cyan underneath his uniform slipped away. 'This is so not my kind of scene.' He thought, vanishing in the streets.
"Outnumbered we are, but outclassed we are not! My classmates, will we let these childish pranks upon our persons go unpunished?!" The crowd roared an answer of no. "Then go forth, and show these delinquents the full might of Zeta!" With that, he sent the crowd forward, all of them charging through the streets with a war cry as they split apart to find targets, ready to reap their revenge.
*Meanwhile* *Somewhere in Alpha District*
Cleo walked up to a Restore Station that was set up in a drive-in, heading up to a window. "Top this off, please." She said to the person at the counter, holding out her D-Controller.
"Coming right up." The employee said, taking the D-Controller. After a few seconds, Cleo took her D-Controller back, all restored.
Cleo LP:4000
The girl took a seat at one of the tables, sighing. 'This War has barely been going on for a couple of hours… What's the point of it all? Why are the Sykonetyks trying to throw us into disarray?'
A strange chuckle caught her ear, making her look to the side. Her vision caught sight of a 17-year-old boy with brown eyes and short yet slicked back platinum blonde hair at another table, decked out in a white shirt that appeared to have an advertisement on it, black pants with a chain belt, purple shoes, and a gray-and-red D-Controller whose card tray sort of resembled the body of a guitar. She also noted that his right ear was pierced with a white stud earring. She admitted he looked nice, but there a a gleam in his eyes that was unmistakable to Cleo. Following his vision, she noticed he was watching a group of short-skirted girls walking by. A smirk curled onto his face as he followed them, switching focus when they were out of viewing range to another girl who had rather… generous breasts. "Man, I love living in this city… So many lovely ladies for a guy's viewing pleasure." He mused, taking a sip of his soda.
Cleo was in earshot, and immediately, she felt ticked. 'Why that little…!' She immediately got up from her seat and approached him.
The blonde boy raised an eyebrow when he heard someone clear her throat rather loudly, turning his head. When he saw Cleo, his smirk returned, looking her up and down. '*whistles* Not bad.' "Evening, Sweet Legs. Can Timo – that's me – keep you company on this fine day?"
(Timo Kupiainen Voice Actor: Rob Paulsen as Yakko Warner from Animaniacs)
Cleo was glaring at him. "Don't try your sweet talk with me, pervert."
"Ouch. Bad start." Timo mused, sipping his soda. "Okay, then is there something you need me for?"
"Where do you get off?" Cleo asked. Timo clearly looked confused. "You think the girls in this city are dressing that way just to *finger quotes* 'impress' you, if you catch my drift?"
"I wish. It ain't like they're doin' something bad, though." Timo said, not losing his smirk. "So they don't wear much or they wear tight stuff. It just means they're proud of what their mamas gave 'em. I respect that in a woman."
"Oh, sure. Your definition of 'respect' is pretty twisted, pal." Cleo said, jabbing a finger in Timo's face. "I hate perverts like you. I might sound like I'm some soapboxer right now, but damn it, it pisses me off! You don't know how many perverts are at my school, and how the girls are so oblivious to it. I mean, it's only a matter of time until-" She wasn't looking at Timo during her spiel, but she glanced at him only to realize he was looking at another passing girl out of the corner of his eye. With a tic mark, Cleo slapped him. "Are you even listening to me?!"
Timo shook his head to shake off the impact, quickly smirking again. "Honestly, no I'm not. You sound like you're blowing this up bigger than that girl's chest over there." He was pointing with his thumb at another passing girl with a very stacked chest.
Cleo stood rigid for a moment, then facepalmed with a heavy sigh, turning her back to Timo and taking a few steps. "Why must some men be such perverts…?"
"Said the girl wearing the tempting, short-skirted sailor fuku." The girl's head shot up with wide eyes and an embarrassed/angry blush, noting her own clothing before turning to see Timo getting up from his table. "Look, I got better things to do. You might wanna take those girls' example." He looked back and shot her a wink. "Later, Sweet Legs." With that, Timo headed down the parking lot of the drive-in to leave. Though he was still smirking, in his mind, he was counting down for something. 'Three… two… one…' After he counted "one", a beeping went off on his Gamepad, making him pull it out and check it, seeing he had a True Duel challenge from Cleo. He actually looked pretty confused, looking back at Cleo, who was approached him with her own Gamepad out. "I expected you to fly at me with a super kick."
"Nice try." Cleo deadpanned. "I know what the combination of a kick and a sailor fuku does for guys like you."
"Hmm. Touche." Timo said with his smirk back on his face. "All right, you've got me in a good mood. Let's rock!" He whipped out his D-Gazer, which was red with a yellow lens, and placed it on his eye before pushing "Accept" on his Gamepad.
"TRUE DUEL ACCEPTED." The AR system said. "AR VISION, LINK ESTABLISHED." An odd red field formed around them and any other spectators, flashing once before fading. "ARMISTICE FIELD IN EFFECT. ESTABLISHING LINK BETWEEN A AND B." Cleo and Timo's D-Gazers flashed, as did those of the spectators.
"TRUE DUEL!"
Cleo LP:4000
Timo LP:4000
"I'm going first! Watashi no turn! Draw!" Cleo drew her first card. "Seikokuryū – Dragon Nut, Shoukan!" A golden sphere with multiple cracks and light blue energy within the cracks emerged. The energy shined, making the sphere open and convert around the energy into a tall dragonic form with a humanoid posture, with human-like arms and legs (though the hands and feet were still dragonic), ridged wings, a long tail, orange eyes, and the Hieroglyph symbol on its hips.
Hieroglyph Dragon – Dragon Nut: Lv.4 LIGHT Dragon ATK:1700/DEF:900
"Kaado ichi mai settei! Turn end!" Cleo's facedown emerged.
"Ore no turn! Draw!" Timo drew his card. "Nice card. But it's time I turned up the volume on this Duel! Continuous Magic, Harmonic Hype, hatsudo! If I ever Summon a Level 4 or below non-Tuner monster, I can Special Summon a Level 4 or below Tuner Monster from my hand!"
"Tuner Monster?" Cleo gasped.
"Is there an echo out here? Noteman D, Shoukan!" His monster emerged as a mauve-colored spherical head with pink feet, having a menacing-looking grin with sharp green eyes, small arms with white gloves, and holding a scythe with a flat oval on the bottom, making the scythe resemble an eighth note. A "D" was printed on its "forehead", and it held up its free hand like a claw.
Noteman D: Lv.4 DARK Fairy ATK:1400/DEF:1400
"Harmonic Hype no kouka hatsudo!" Timo took another card from his hand. "Sound Warrior Drums, Tokushu Shoukan!" His new monster emerged as what looked like a red drum set, but it was alive, having two eyes on the bottom drum, two tiny legs, two thick arms holding drumsticks, and cymbals attached to its body.
Sound Warrior Drums: Lv.2 WIND Machine/Tuner ATK:700/DEF:700
"Let's rock! Ore wa Reberu Yon no Noteman D ni Reberu Ni no Sound Warrior Drums o Tyuningu (I'm Tuning Level 4 Noteman D with Level 2 Sound Warrior Drums)!" Drums whaled on its own drum set body before striking its cymbals, morphing into two Level Stars that morphed into Synchro Summon Rings. Noteman D flew through the Rings, morphing into an outline with four Level Stars that lined up, then a green light shot through the Rings. "The rhythm of impatience stampedes the earth… Let its melody rise to the sky!" Out of the light, a humanoid warrior emerged, decked out in white-and gray armor, but having shoulder pads and ankle designs that resembled eighth notes, with no helmet and long light gray hair with five backward-pointing spikes and a paper-thin ponytail in the middle of them. "Shinkuro Shoukan (Synchro Summon)!" Green eyes shot open on the warrior. "Ideyo! Harmonic Knight – Speed!" Gathering energy into his hands, Speed formed a white electric guitar and started playing a super-fast riff that made him somehow dash across the field before screeching to a stop that corresponded with the final note, throwing up a rock-on sign with a grin.
Harmonic Knight – Speed: Lv.6 WIND Warrior/Synchro ATK:2100/DEF:1800
"Synchro Summon…" Cleo breathed. However, she quickly found herself weirded out. "Wait… a music-themed Deck? You?"
"What? You thought my Deck was full of sexy and skimpily-dressed women?" Timo asked rhetorically. "Sure, I have a few of those in my Deck, but trust me: Underestimating my band is gonna land you in a world of trouble!" He flashed his teeth in a grin, making Cleo groan.
*With Aya and Sumiko*
Aya LP:4000
Sumiko LP:4000
"Age before impulse. Watashi no turn! Draw!" Aya drew her card, Sumiko scoffing at her first comment. "Skymatan Pikif, Shoukan!" Her monster shot across the sky before it perched itself on the ground, revealing it to be some sort of large blue-feathered woodpecker, having a red head, large green eyes, and a yellow beak. Its body was clad in what appeared to be some sort of tunic made specifically for birds, colored tan and green with an image of a yellow triangle with two large yellow wings coming from the sides. The woodpecker also wore a saddle and had a human rider.
Skymatan Pikif: Lv.3 WIND Winged Beast ATK:1100/DEF:1000
"Kaado ichi mai settei. Turn end." Aya's facedown emerged.
"A bird? Please, Aya-nee. Ore no turn! Draw!" Sumiko drew her card. "Behold the storm! Preciplo Striker of the Sleet, Shoukan!" When her card hit the tray, some of the AR clouds began to pour down sleet, a flash of lightning occurring. Part of the ground froze from the sleet, then a monster shot out from under it (despite it being solid ground underneath), landing on the ground. The figure seemed to be a black-haired humanoid male dressed in what looked like an elaborate sports uniform of some sort, colored navy blue with white gloves, but only the top half was actually humanoid: The bottom half as that of a navy blue horse with wings and a black tail, making it a centaurian pegasus. The front of his shirt had a symbol on the front that looked like a dark gray cloud encompassed by red lines in a square, the points of the square each having a colored circle, the circles being light blue and white on top and navy blue and gray on the bottom, all four circles surrounded by red as well. The centaur was also holding what looked like a soccer-ball-sized ball of ice.
Preciplo Striker of the Sleet: Lv.3 WATER Psychic ATK:1000/DEF:800
"Preciplo Striker no kouka hatsudo! Once per turn, I can send the top 4 cards of my Deck to the Graveyard!" Sumiko's Deck pushed out the top 4 cards, which she grabbed. "Then, if there's a Magic Card among them, I can banish it to let Striker attack you directly this turn!" Checking her cards, Sumiko grinned before picking a card. "I banish the Equip Magic, Sleet Spear!" The clouds above rumbled before a spear with an icy point and a navy blue handle fell from them. Striker held its ice ball in its direction, making the spear impact it with a THUNK before being absorbed into the ice ball, giving it an odd aura.
"That was pretty risky." Doc mused. 'Another self-Miller? Jeez, bad memories of Aero are coming to me.'
"Let's go! Preciplo Striker, attack Aya-nee directly! Ice Strike Impact!" Striker's eye flashed before he chucked the ball of ice into the air before flying after it in a spin, stopping in mid-air right at the apex of the ice ball's flight, then Striker spiked it with his hand, knocking the ice ball straight toward Aya, missing her but making a powerful impact.
"Ngh…" Aya groaned.
Aya LP:3000
"That was only the first strike. The storm will rage on!" Sumiko declared. "Kaado ichi mai settei! Turn end!"
"Watashi no turn. Draw!" Aya drew her card. "Skymatan Buinini, Shoukan!" This monster was accompanied by the sound of helicopter blades whirring, as it actually did have two helicopter propellers. The propellers were attached to two wings that were built onto the top of a strange green-and-gray machine that was a jet/helicopter mix, whose body was made of parts of segmented metal, allowing the gears and pistons within to be easily seen. The look of the machine almost seemed like it could shift into another form. There was a human pilot in the cockpit manning the controls, and emblazoned on the cockpit door was the same yellow triangle with wings seen on Pikif.
Skymatan Buinini: Lv.3 WIND Machine ATK:1300/DEF:1000
"Skymatan Buinini, attack Preciplo Striker!" The jetcopter's propellers turned from pointing upward to pointing forward, then the jetcopter shot forward toward the pegasus.
Sumiko smirked. "Trap Card, Acid Sleet, hatsudo! This card sends the top 10 cards from my Deck to the Graveyard, then for each Preciplo monster among them, your monsters lose 200 Attack Points!" As Sumiko took the cards from her Deck, the AR clouds began to gather and turn dark. Sumiko fanned out the cards and showed them to her sister. "5 Preciplos! Your monsters lose 1000 Attack Points!" With a boom of thunder, strange dark red sleet began to pour down from the clouds. Striker basked in the downpour, but Aya's monsters were given no favors: The sleet started to burn Pikif's wings and corrode Buinini's armor as it flew.
Skymatan Pikif ATK:100
Skymatan Buinini ATK:300
Aya recoiled. "Kuso. Skymatan Buinini no kouka hatsudo! By moving it to a different Monster Card Zone when an attack involving it is declared, the attack is negated!" Though rusty and malfunctioning, Buinini suddenly turned its propellers back upright, gaining altitude and flying right over Striker, retreating back to Aya's field.
"I take no prisoners, Aya-nee. If you step to me, you step to the power of the storm itself." Sumiko declared, Striker tossing his ice ball up and down a few times.
"You're reckless, just like you always were." Aya replied. "I'll make you see that your recklessness will be your undoing. Kaado ichi mai settei. Turn end!" Aya's facedown emerged.
"Cry me a river. Ore no turn! Draw!" Sumiko drew her card. "I release Preciplo Striker! Adobansu Shoukan!" Striker yelled as his body converted into a mass of dark clouds, which rose overhead before raining down chunks of hail. The hail began collecting into a new form, which also appeared to be a centaurian pegasus. "Ideyo, Preciplo Ogre of the Hail!" The white shell of the form shattered to reveal that an organic image of that shell was underneath. The horse body and wings were gray on this one rather than navy blue, and the human body was a muscular dark-skinned man wearing a blue mask that resembled his namesake creature, having horns and sharp teeth. However, his arms, shoulders, and sides were covered in dark clouds to give the impression that he was more muscular than he actually was, making him seem more like the ogre he was named after. The same red-square symbol on Striker's shirt was tattooed on his chest.
Preciplo Ogre of the Hail: Lv.6 WATER Aqua/Base ATK:2100/DEF:2000
"You only faced the calm… Now the storm can REALLY begin!" Ogre let out a roar, and from purple portals, Striker emerged with two other Preciplos: A young centaurian man with a light blue horse body and holding a large shield (with the Preciplo symbol on it), and a young centaurian woman with a white horse body and wielding a bow with icy arrows. "Ore wa, Preciplo Shield of the Rain, Preciplo Archer of the Snow, Preciplo Striker of the Sleet, Reberu Roku no Preciplo Ogre of the Hail, Shinajaizu!" All four Preciplos fired blue energy above them, forming a pure blue sphere of energy, then they transformed into Soul Towers that fired blue lightning at the sphere to energize it. "Kono yon tai no tamashī o ketsugō shite, yori kyōryokuna atarashī no tamashī ga umareru! Kōzu Shoukan!" The sphere slowly rose up and morphed into a large blue energy cloud, which boomed thunder and cracked lightning before a storm of hail poured out from it. Lightning struck abound as the hail collected into a larger form, still keeping the centaurian pegasus body. "Hammering force of the mighty hail… Descend from the sky to crush all who walk the ground!" The hail's figure finished forming, then a bolt of lightning struck the head, shattering the icy shell to reveal the figure. The horse body was gray like Ogre, having red armor over its hooves and a gold armor cover on its horse back that was emblazoned with the Preciplo symbol, but the wings were much larger, being made out of black thunderclouds rather than feathers. The human body was male, dressed in blue samurai-esque armor with gray trim, swinging around a chain that was connected to an apparatus that had five white balls of ice connected to a center by chains. "Preciplo Warlord of the Hail – Mikhail!" Blue eyes flashed on the man's head, which sported a kabuto helmet and a very thick white mustache, before he brought the balls-and-chain around to in front of him with a grunt, coinciding with a flash of lightning and a boom of thunder, the four Soul Towers still energizing him.
Preciplo Warlord of the Hail - Mikhail: Quality 6 WATER Thunder/Composition ATK:3000/DEF:1300 4 Active Soul Towers
"Whoa. Nice monster." Dizzy whispered.
"I don't see many Quality 6s with 3000 Attack Points." Doc whispered.
"Are you two going to play secret agent for the entire Duel?" Sumiko asked, startling them. They realized she was looking right at them. "If you're going to watch a Duel, at least be a real audience!"
Doc and Dizzy looked at each other. "Well, I guess it saves us the hassle of having to hide." Doc said before they emerged.
"Trust me, guys, you won't want to miss this." Sumiko said. "Preciplo Warlord Mikhail no kouka hatsudo!" One of the large centaur's Soul Towers shut off, and the thunderclouds above him began to boom. "Once per turn, by deactivating a Soul Tower, I can send the top five cards from my Deck to my Graveyard!"
Mikhail: 3 Active Soul Towers
"I was hoping you'd keep up this strategy." Aya said, prompting an "Eh?" from her sister. "Continuous Trap, Skull Invitation, hatsudo! From now on, whenever a card is sent to the Graveyard, whoever owned that card loses 300 Life Points." Sumiko's hair seemed to stand on end. "I figured I'd have to duel you, Sumiko, so I added some cards to my own Deck to make your strategy your own downfall." Aya pointed at her sister. "You may have Dueled longer than I have, but that meant I could watch you. I know your Deck, and I know what can defeat it."
*Meanwhile*
Plata came to a stop in the streets, panting. "Madre de Dios. This is getting me nowhere!"
"Plata-chan? You all right?" A voice asked. Plata turned and saw Yoru and Hiroki walking toward her, the voice being Yoru. "Jeez, you look like you just ran a marathon."
"I… might as well have…" Plata panted. "Pyro is one slippery weasel!"
"Pyro? You saw him?" Hiroki asked.
"Sort of. I didn't physically SEE him, but he wiped out a bunch of enemies and sent me a 'You're welcome' note. I figured if I could catch the bastard, he could give me some answers about all of this." Plata replied.
Hiroki sighed. "I wish I could be of help, but I don't even know what he looks like."
"This guy's really good at keeping his face out of the public's eye." Yoru mused.
Then, Plata's Gamepad beeped. "Eh?" Pulling out the Gamepad, she saw that he had a new e-mail. Yoru and Hiroki moved over to her so they could see it.
There was no return name on the digital envelope, but there was a clear stamp: A ring with a flame insignia. Somehow, they could all tell who it was. "Pyro." Plata opened the mail and read the message.
Of course I'm good at staying out of sight. That's the fun of it all. I'll give you a little prize for your tenacity, but for now, play the cat all you want. This mouse will always get away. –Pyro
There was a picture attached to the mail, which Plata enlarged, showing part of a male figure (from the stomach up) clad in a red jumpsuit with orange designs that were clearly flames. The zoomed-in visual meant his face remained out of the frame, with the exception of his smirking mouth: Not even a lock of hair was visible. His only visible hand (the right hand) wore the same metal glove as the other Sykonetyks, and he was holding a horizontal peace sign in front of his chest, the fingertips of his gloves opening up to reveal miniature lighters. Plata gained a tic mark. "That hijo de puta… he's taunting us!"
"After everything he and his 'buddies' did, he's got some serious nerve, especially since he's apparently supposed to be on OUR side." Yoru said.
"Wait. If he responded to what Plata-chan just said, that means he's around here somewhere!" Hiroki realized. The three of them looked around. Then, a burst of flame down the road caught Hiroki's eye. "Over there!"
"Let's catch that little sneak!" Plata cried, rushing toward the flames with Yoru and Hiroki hot on her heels.
"When I get my hands on Pyro, I'm not sure his mouth will be working enough to give us answers!" Hiroki growled, clearly still angry about the incident earlier that day.
*With Cleo and Timo*
"Harmonic Knight – Speed no kouka hatsudo!" Timo's white-armored rocker began playing another fast riff, causing a white portal to form in the air. "If Speed is Synchro Summoned while I control no other Synchro Monsters, I can Special Summon a Level 4 or below non-Tuner monster from my Deck in Defense Mode!" Speed finished the riff as a monster emerged from the portal. "Ideyo, Noteman F!" This monster was another spherical note, colored green, wearing sunglasses (held in place by its arm joints), having an "F" on its forehead, and having a smug smirk, holding a thirty-second note that had what appeared to be needle launchers for the three flags, holding up a gesture with its thumb, index finger, and middle finger.
Noteman F: Lv.3 WIND Fairy ATK:1100/DEF:1100
"Harmonic Hype no kouka hatsudo! Sound Warrior Bassist, Tokushu Shoukan!" A guitar riff sounded as another monster emerged that was not only holding a blue bass guitar, but it had a blue bass guitar as its main body, with small speakers acting as eyes, metallic gray arms and legs attached to it.
Sound Warrior Bassist: Lv.1 WIND Machine/Tuner ATK:600/DEF:400
Timo snapped his fingers. "Sound Warrior Bassist no kouka hatsudo! Once per turn, I can target a Sound Warrior monster I control and increase its Level by 1 for each card in my hand until the End Phase!" Bassist plucked a string on his handheld guitar, causing a sound wave to ripple the air. "With two cards in my hand, Bassist gains 2 Levels!"
Sound Warrior Bassist: Lv.3
"Ore wa, Reberu San no Noteman F ni Reberu San no Sound Warrior Bassist, Tyuningu!" Bassist played another note on its guitar before turning into three Level Stars, which became Synchro Summon Rings. Noteman F flew through the Rings, morphing into an outline with three Level Stars that lined up, then a green light shot through the Rings. "The rhythm of disobedience stands unflinching... Let its melody rise to the sky!" From the light, another Harmonic Knight emerged, this one being in red-and-white armor, having the same eighth note shoulder and ankle designs, but these designs appeared to be blades, and he appeared bulkier than Speed. This knight wore a helmet with a bladed mohawk on top, a few spikes dotting his armor. "Shinkuro Shoukan!" Blue eyes shot open on the warrior. "Ideyo, Harmonic Knight – Punk!" This knight gathered red energy into his hands and formed a guitar of his own, but he only played a single chord, which caused the edges of a saw blade to emerge from the base of the instrument. He then switched from holding it like a guitar to holding the handle two-handed like a hilt, the saw blades oscillating like a chainsaw.
Harmonic Knight – Punk: Lv.6 EARTH Warrior/Synchro ATK:2400/DEF:2000
"Two Synchro Summons in one turn…" Cleo breathed.
Timo flipped his hair. "I warned you, Sweet Legs: Pervert I may be, but you don't want to underestimate me." He pointed at her dragon. "Harmonic Knight – Punk, attack Dragon Nut!" Punk twirled his guitar saw. "Harmonic Knight – Punk no kouka hatsudo! When Punk attacks, I can prevent you from activating 1 Magic or Trap Card during that battle for each Synchro Monster I control except Punk itself. Speed may be my only other Synchro Monster, but it's good enough to keep that face-down sealed off!" Punk grabbed his bladed mohawk and pulled it off his head, throwing it at Cleo's face-down and lancing it. "That'll do it. Move in, Punk! Chainsaw Axe!" Twirling his guitar, Punk shot forward and leapt up, bringing it down and buzzing it clean down the middle, causing its energy body to static out before it and its armor exploded.
Cleo LP:3300
With Punk's attack done, the blade stuck to Cleo's face-down disintegrated, Punk's helmet re-growing the mohawk. "That face-down is probably something big, but I like taking risks. Harmonic Knight – Speed, direct attack!" By playing another riff on his own guitar, Speed had his namesake increased before he dashed toward Cleo.
"Trap Card, Defense Draw, hatsudo!" Cleo's face-down flipped up. "Since I would take Battle Damage during your turn, that damage becomes 0!" Speed rushed toward her, but Cleo quickly bent at the knees to duck underneath his intended sideswipe, Speed giving a "Huh?" face before rushing back to Timo's field.
"Damn. I was hoping you'd bend another way to dodge that." Timo mused with a smirk, rubbing his chin in thought.
Cleo had a tic mark on her face. "Shut up… Since I activated Defense Draw, I can draw 1 card." She drew her card.
"Girls like you are always cuter when you're angry." Timo said simply. "Turn end."
"Watashi no turn. Draw!" Cleo drew her card. "Since you control a monster and I don't, I can Special Summon this card from my hand." Another golden sphere emerged, lavender energy within the cracks, before it opened to reveal the form within. "Ideyo, Seikokuryū – Tfeni Dragon!" This Hieroglyph Dragon was slim, almost feminine, with lavender energy by its head like a headdress.
Hieroglyph Dragon – Tfeni Dragon: Lv.6 LIGHT Dragon ATK:2100/DEF:1400
"Now I release Tfeni Dragon!" Tfeni Dragon returned to its sphere form, then the energy within turned light blue and began to crackle with electricity. The sphere then exploded, letting an energy form emerge. "Adobansu Shoukan! Ideyo, Wattaildragon!" The energy form solidified with a roar, revealing a light blue dragon with combined arms and wings, bird-like feet, and electricity dancing around its body.
Wattaildragon: Lv.6 LIGHT Dragon ATK:2500/DEF:1000
"Oh, boy." Timo said.
"Wattaildragon, attack Harmonic Knight – Speed!" The electricity around Wattaildragon concentrated around its feet, forming an orb of lightning. "Electric Wing!" With a roar, Wattaildragon unleashed the energy as an electric bird shape, which shot toward Speed and blasted right through him, the electricity shocking his body before he finally exploded.
Timo LP:3600
"Hmm. Rather spicy. I like that." Timo told her. "It helps me out, too. Trap, hatsudo! Backup Beat!" His face-down flipped up. "Since a Harmonic Knight monster I control was destroyed, I can add a Tuner Monster from my Deck to my hand." A card slid out from his Deck, which he grabbed.
"Every single word that comes out of your mouth sends a chill down my spine." Cleo said. "And not in the good way."
"That's funny. Every word out of your mouth chills MY spine in the good way." Timo replied with a wink.
Cleo's ponytails seemed to ripple with a chill. "…Kaado ichi mai settei. Turn end!"
"Ore no turn. Draw!" Timo drew his card. "Noteman G, Shoukan!" Another Noteman emerged, this one being yellow with long feminine eyelashes, wearing blue lipstick and having a "G" on its forehead. It was carrying a sixty-fourth note whose flags seemed to resemble the teeth of a rake, and it held out its index finger invitingly.
Noteman G: Lv.4 LIGHT Fairy ATK:1500/DEF:1500
"Harmonic Hype no kouka hatsudo! Noteman Flat, Tokushu Shoukan!" This Noteman was different from the others: Though the color was nothing off (it was black), it was cube-shaped rather than sphere-shaped, having more angular eyes, a brown eyepatch, and no letter on its forehead. Its weapon was the indicator for a flat note, formed to look like a large golf club.
Noteman Flat: Lv.4 DARK Fairy/Tuner ATK:1300/DEF:1300
"You might've taken Speed out, but this show is nowhere near over. Ore wa Reberu Yon no Noteman G ni Reberu Yon no Noteman Flat, Tyuningu!" Noteman Flat twirled its golf club before swiping it, turning into four Level Stars which morphed into Synchro Summon Rings. Noteman G flew through the Rings, morphing into an outline with four Level Stars that lined up, then a green light shot through the Rings. "The rhythm of chaos throws off the order... Let its melody rise to the sky!" Another Harmonic Knight emerged, this one being female, as noted by having a shapely body and a more revealing outfit, being blue and orange in colors while still keeping the eighth note motifs on the shoulders and ankles. She wore a helmet (which also had a mouth cover), but she had a long spiraling ponytail coming out of the back, having both blue and orange colors in it. "Shinkuro Shoukan!" Green eyes shot open on the warrior. "Ideyo, Harmonic Knight – Alternate!" She gathered blue-and-orange energy into her hands and formed it into some sort of odd keyboard with a sling, having it slung around her shoulder. She played a small tune on the keyboard, which caused a few odd ray gun-like protrusions to emerge from the side, then she gave a gesture with two fingers to her forehead and a wink.
Harmonic Knight – Alternate: Lv.8 DARK Warrior/Synchro ATK:2500/DEF:2500
Cleo sweatdropped. "Of course… Just like you said, you had one of your perverted fantasies as one of your monsters."
"I have more of those than Alternate, honestly. But I'll tell you this: Not wearing much doesn't mean she's not tough stuff!" Alternate played a tune on her keyboard, pointing the ray guns forward. "Harmonic Knight – Alternate no kouka hatsudo!" Blue and orange energy fired from the ray guns, striking Wattaildragon and making it convulse. "Once per turn, for each other Harmonic Knight monster I control, I can choose one monster on the field and switch its Attack and Defense Points!"
Wattaildragon ATK:1000/DEF:2500
"Thanks for wasting your effect." Cleo said with a smirk. "Trap Card, Dragon's Rebirth, hatsudo! This card banishes a Dragon-Type monster I control, then Special Summons a Dragon-Type monster from my hand or Graveyard!" Wattaildragon became a mass of electricity and dissipated into particles. "Ideyo! Seikokuryū – Usir Dragon!" This golden sphere had green energy within the cracks, then it opened to reveal a large serpentine Hieroglyph Dragon, the green energy making its wings, small limbs, and head.
Hieroglyph Dragon – Usir Dragon: Lv.7 LIGHT Dragon ATK:2600/DEF:700
Timo blinked. "…Well, crap. Talk about rotten luck, huh, Alternate?" Alternate nodded embarrassedly. "I switch Harmonic Knight – Punk to Defense Mode!" The red Harmonic Knight knelt down and crossed his weapon in front of him. "Kaado ichi mai settei. Turn end!"
"Watashi no turn! Draw!" Cleo drew her card. "Magic Card, Trade-In, hatsudo. This card lets me discard one Level 8 monster in order to draw 2 cards." Her discarded card was Rabidragon. "Monsuta settei." A face-down monster emerged on her field. "Now then, Usir Dragon, attack Harmonic Knight – Alternate!" Its energy glowing, Usir roared before unleashing a wave of green flames from its mouth. Alternate tried to shield herself with her keyboard, but the flames merely smashed right through it and consumed Alternate, obliterating her.
Timo LP:3500
Timo noted the glare in her eyes and smirked. "You're really taking this seriously, aren't you?"
"Of course I am. You got me in the wrong mood." Cleo deadpanned.
"I could easily fix that later." The platinum-blonde mused.
This made Cleo angrier. "I am so close to attacking you myself right now… Turn end!"
"You need to lighten up. Being all high-strung like that isn't good for luscious skin like yours. True story." Timo said coolly. "I at least hope you've enjoyed this concert so far… because it's time for the main event to begin!"
*With Aya and Sumiko*
Sumiko shook her head and shot a look at Aya. "You think you're smart, huh? Let's see how much it works for you!" She took the top five cards from her Deck and checked them out, but when she did, Skull Invitation coated them with a black aura, which went to Sumiko herself.
Sumiko LP:2500
The younger sister didn't flinch from it and showed Aya the cards. "I got two Preciplos with this effect, so I can destroy one card you control or discard one card from your hand for each one!" She pointed forward. "I choose to destroy both Skymatan Buinini and Skull Invitation!" Mikhail began swinging his balls-and-chain again as the thunderclouds began raining down hail, which collected around two of the balls and turned into spikes. "Go, Mikhail! Hail Spike Storm!" Roaring, Mikhail swung the chain forward, and two of the spike balls detached from the chains and sailed forward. One lodged into Skull Invitation while the other simply smashed clean through Buinini, both cards being obliterated from Buinini's explosion. Sumiko crossed her arms with a smirk. "You think I can't handle myself when my milling is turned against me? That sort of thing only works once, Aya!"
"First off, stop disrespecting me like that." Aya said sternly, referring to Sumiko leaving off the suffix again. "Second off, even though you've stopped Skull Invitation, I have more cards waiting in the wings. Use as many storm words as you like, Sumiko. I'll quell your Deck and clear your clouded mind!"
"You wish. Preciplo Warlord Mikhail can't attack during the turn I activate his effect. Kaado ichi mai settei! Turn end!" Sumiko's face-down emerged.
"Watashi no turn. Draw!" Aya drew her card. "I shall now perform my own Advance Summon by releasing Skymatan Pikif!" Her bird became particles that created a new portal, and from it, another monster shot out and soared above, clearing the thunderclouds above before perching itself. This monster was yet another giant bird, a flamingo this time, having large blue eyes, a white-and-black beak, the characteristic pink feathers of the species, but it appeared to still retain some of the grayish-red plumage from its youth. "Koi, Skymatan Phoenicopter!" It wore a tunic much like Pikif's, complete with the Skymatan symbol, and it also had a saddle with a rider, standing on one leg.
Skymatan Phoenicopter: Lv.6 WIND Winged Beast ATK:2100/DEF:2000
"Hey, what did you do to my stormclouds?!" Sumiko griped, Mikhail looking rather ticked.
"I got rid of them so the sun could shine." Aya said, smiling as the sunlight touched down again. "My monsters despise the storms, so I will see to it that the skies remain clear! Skymatan Phoenicopter no kouka hatsudo! Since Phoenicopter is the only card in its column, once per turn, you take 1000 damage!" Phoenicopter's rider pulled out some weird gun of sorts and fired a small tornado from it at Sumiko, the younger shielding herself with her arms.
Sumiko LP:1500
"Oh, now things are getting good." Dizzy said, still recording.
"Quick-Play Magic, Cargo Drop, hatsudo!" Phoenicopter spread its wings and took to the sky, vanishing behind a cloud for a moment before coming back into view with a large green crate marked with their symbol in its feet. "This card allows me to banish Skymatan Phoenicopter in order to Special Summon a Skymatan monster with a lower Level from my Deck!" Phoenicopter let go of the crate and somehow saluted with its wing (as did its rider) before taking off into the sky and vanishing. "Skymatan Apodin, Tokushu Shoukan!" The crate impacted the ground and shattered, revealing a large green-and-gray hummingbird of sorts, also sporting a Skymatan bird tunic, a saddle, and a rider.
Skymatan Apodin: Lv.3 WIND Winged Beast/Base ATK:1000/DEF:900
"Skymatan Apodin no kouka hatsudo! When this card is Special Summoned, its Level increases by 1 for each banished Skymatan monster I have."
"So it becomes Level 4." Doc thought.
"Level 5, actually. The Skymatans banish themselves upon their destruction." Aya explained. "Since you destroyed Buinini and I banished Phoenicopter, Apodin gains 2 Levels." The hummingbird's already-flitting wings began to flit even faster as it grew in size.
Skymatan Apodin: Lv.5
"So what? It isn't like you could Composition Summon with it, anyway." Sumiko jeered. "You only have that Skymatan Pikif that you released earlier in your Graveyard!"
Aya shook her head with a smile. "Oh, you're thinking too short, Sumiko. To take advantage of their banishment, Skymatan Composition Monsters can use banished Skymatan monsters as their Soul Towers!"
"Nani?!" Sumiko cried.
"A Composition Summon with both Graveyard monsters and banished monsters?" Doc breathed.
Aya rose her arm, and Apodin let out a loud chirp. One purple portal and two blue portals opened up, Pikif appearing from the purple portal while Buinini and Phoenicopter emerged from the blue portals. "Watashi wa, Skymatan Pikif, Buinini, Phoenicopter to, Reberu Go no Skymatan Apodin de Shinajaizu!" All four Skymatans fired green energy above them, forming a pure green sphere of energy, then they transformed into Soul Towers that fired green lightning at the sphere to energize it. "Kono yon tai no tamashī o ketsugō shite, yori kyōryokuna atarashī no tamashī ga umareru! Kōzu Shoukan!" The sphere began to grow in size before it shot into the air, and a large yet short wing shot out from the energy, sporting black feathers with white tips. Another wing of the same colors emerged. "From the city above the clouds, a powerful soldier descends. With a beat of its wings, the sun shall shine unimpeded!" A long cream-colored neck emerged that was attached to a head with a green aviator's helmet on top, obscuring its eyes with blue goggles but keeping its beak exposed. The monster let out a loud squawk before it careened down, head forward. "Skymatan… Struthion!" The monster slowed down on a dime, its tan legs (whose feet were actually wearing green cleats with odd soles) touching the ground like a feather, showing it to be a large black ostrich, also wearing its own Skymatan bird tunic, with a long yellow scarf on the bottom of its neck flowing behind it. Unlike the others, this Skymatan bird had no rider or saddle, instead wearing what appeared to be supply packs on its back. Its moved its neck to its wing to adjust its goggles, which gleamed as the four Soul Towers energized its body.

"Aya-nee, why do you keep talking up your cards for drama, only for a bad payout?" Sumiko asked with a smirk. "Your monster isn't strong enough to beat Mikhail!"
Preciplo Warlord of the Hail – Mikhail ATK:3000
"Just watch, Sumiko. Unlike you, I can cash every check my mouth writes." Aya retorted, annoying her sister. "Magic Card, Mach Force, hatsudo! By moving Skymatan Struthion to another Monster Card Zone, I can target one monster you control and change its battle position!" Struthion spread its wings and suddenly darted forward at supersonic speeds, shooting directly to the side of Mikhail and leaping straight up, actually creating a sonicboom as it shot into the sky. The sonicboom was loud enough to force Mikhail to cover his ears and kneel his horse body down. "Furthermore, if Skymatan Struthion attacks a monster in Defense Mode, it inflicts Piercing Battle Damage to the opponent!"
"Piercing damage?!" Sumiko cried.
"Whoa, nice combo." Doc mused.
"Skymatan Struthion, attack Preciplo Warlord Mikhail!" While in mid-air, Struthion's goggles gleamed as it stopped, somehow hovering in mid-air thanks to its boots. "Anti-Gravity… Meteor Kick!" Twirling in mid-air, the ostrich suddenly began careening back toward the ground in a lightning-fast dive kick. The Preciplo barely had to look up as Struthion's impacted him, slamming Mikhail clean into the pavement and causing a massive shockwave as he exploded.
"Waaaaaaaaaaahhhh!" Sumiko cried as the shockwave knocked her back, causing her to land on the ground.
Sumiko LP:200
"That… was… AWESOME." Dizzy breathed.
Struthion jumped out of the small crater and landed back on Aya's field, swiping its wing as if swiping a sword that just struck down an enemy. "I really didn't want to do that, sis, but you left me no choice. I can stop this right now, though. Just please, think about what's going on."
"I d-don't care about what's going on…!" Sumiko growled as she got to her feet. "If there's some ulterior motive for all of this, it doesn't mean anything to me! I just want to Duel and beat people! Why is that so hard to understand?"
"That attitude can get you in danger!" Aya told her. "You could end up messing with the wrong people because of this. Then what happens to you?"
"I take them down just like I always do! I'm stronger than I look, Aya-nee!" Sumiko retorted.
"And what if those people decide not to bother with a Duel? What if they gang up on you and beat you to a pulp, or worse?! You may think I'm overbearing, Sumiko, but I just want what's best for you!"
"You don't know what's best for me! Your life and my life are two different lives!" Sumiko held her Duel Disk in front of her. "Now stop talking and keep Dueling!"
Aya was silent for a moment, then she facepalmed. "What happened to you to make you so… defiant?"
"I realized exactly whose life I was living: Mine!"
"There's a difference between being independent and being foolish, Sumiko!" Aya snapped. "Like it or not, I'm not going to let you lose your head over this… You're coming home with me!"
Doc and Dizzy gulped. "Oh man…" Dizzy breathed. "Something tells me things are about to get ugly…"
*Meanwhile*
"Come on, guys! Let's hurry!" Kinoko's voice as she, Sokudo, Zippi, Yosuke, and Keiichi rushed through the city, following a signal of Kinoko's Gamepad. They were all wearing their D-Gazers, but none of them had their D-Controllers active.
"Uh, Kinoko-chan? Are you sure we should be doing this?" Yosuke asked. "From what Kaa-chan told me, there's a lot of fighting going on out here!"
"Not only that, if they find out we're even doing this, we could all get in trouble!" Keiichi added.
"But we can't miss watching Onii-chan Duel! You three have to see him, he's awesome!" Kinoko said, gesturing to their three friends.
"Hey, who let you little ones in here?" A voice asked. The kids turned to see a teenage girl looking at them. "You know that this is a War Zone, right?"
"War Zone? I thought it was just a School Duel." Sokudo said, scratching his head. "That's what Kohaku-nii told us."
The older girl shook her head. "Things change, kids. If any of you Duel, you might want to ready your D-Controllers. Some nutcases will attack anyone they come across. I saw one dude go after a 5-year-old and his mom earlier. True story!"
All five kids gulped. "W-Wouldn't that just draw them to us when they see that we have monsters?" Keiichi asked.
"I don't think we have a choice." Sokudo said. "If what she said's true, if we don't have any kind of defense, something tells me it won't be pretty."
"Yeah, I'd rather lose a Duel than have someone actually come after me!" Zippi added.
"D-Controller, switch on!" All five kids activated their D-Controllers, Sokudo's being blue, Zippi's being yellow, and Yosuke's being orange.
"WARNING. D-CONTROLLERS UNREGISTERED IN WAR ZONE DATABASE." The AR system said. "ACTIVATION OF D-CONTROLLERS WILL REGISTER DUELISTS AS SCHOOL WAR PARTICIPANTS. CONDITIONS ACCEPTED?" A "Yes/No" choice appeared on each of their Gamepads.
"Are we actually doing this, guys?" Yosuke asked, only to be interrupted when a beep from Zippi's Gamepad indicated she had already pressed "Yes". "Z-Zippi-chan!"
"What?" The blonde girl asked. "I thought we already chose to join!"
Keiichi facepalmed. "Sokudo-kun, how do you handle being friends with her knowing how dumb she can be?"
"Cold-blooded, dude." Sokudo replied with an unimpressed face.
The kids all looked at each other for a moment, then they nodded, and the remaining four of them pressed "Yes" on their Gamepads. "CONDITIONS ACCEPTED. REGISTERING D-CONTROLLERS." A loading screen appeared on their Gamepads for a moment, which faded quickly. "REGISTRATION COMPLETE." A Delta symbol appeared in the top-right corner of each screen.
All five kids LP:4000
"I think that did it!" Kinoko chirped.
The teenage girl smiled. "You kids certainly have spunk. Then again, you're gonna need it out here. See ya." With that, the older girl turned and walked off, leaving the kids to themselves.
"Okay, I've still got Onii-chan's signal. Come on!" Kinoko said, leading the way with the others on her tail.
*With Kohaku and Phil*
Kohaku LP:4000
Phil LP:4000
After drawing his hand, Phil motioned to Kohaku. "Since, technically, you challenged me, I think first turn honors should go to you, Kohaku."
"Thanks." Kohaku said. "Here we go. Boku no turn. Draw!" He drew his card, then looked over his hand and started planning. 'I might've got a small look at his cards, but I was too upset to even read their effects.' He thought. 'Better play it safe and see what he has up his sleeve.' "Kaado ni mai settei." Two facedowns emerged: One monster and one Magic or Trap.
"That was it?" Yoko taunted. "I thought we'd see more out of your so called 'HEROes.'"
"Yoko, this isn't the time for your mean girl act," Phil scolded.
"Hehe, sorry, babe." Yoko said sheepishly, rubbing the back of her head. "Force of habit."
Phil rolled his eyes in amusement. "Sorry about that, Kohaku. It was a pretty basic move, though."
"Well, considering what I'm dealing with, I'd like to lean to the side of caution for this Duel." Kohaku told him.
"Whatever works." Phil said with a shrug. "Watashi no turn. Draw!" He drew his card and smirked at what he saw. "Look like I'll be able to see what you got after all. Pixel Soldier Gravity Queen, Shoukan!" The moment he played his card, a flurry of purple symbols (Xs, Circles, Squares, and Triangles) surrounded one of his Monster Zones. From that flurry appeared a female humanoid with ashy skin wearing a black one-piece outfit with gold designs on it, armbands, and high heels. Her long blonde hair was held back by a scarf of similar design with an italic "P" positioned in the center. Her red eyes stared at Kohaku as a cat made of black energy appeared at her feet.
Pixel Soldier Gravity Queen: Lv.4 DARK Psychic ATK:1400/DEF:500
"Equip Magic, Crow Command, hatsudo." Suddenly a small flock of crows began to fly down from nowhere and circle the female as she stooped down and picked up the cat, stroking it in her arms. "But it won't be there for long. Crow Command no kouka hatsudo! By sending it to the Graveyard, I can target 1 monster you control and change it to Attack Mode." As he took the card from his Disk and slid it into his Graveyard, the flock broke its pattern around the female and flew at high speeds at the facedown monster. They all struck it and flipped it face-up, causing the monster to flip face-up and reveal itself to be Pixel HERO – Brave Blade. The green-clad hero wasn't happy about this, though, as he quickly performed a spin slash and struck all the crows, causing them to explode in puffs of dark energy.
Pixel HERO – Brave Blade: Lv.4 EARTH Warrior ATK:1400/DEF:1600
"Huh, how about that? Look this battle'll be a draw." Phil commented. Brave Blade and Gravity Queen locked eyes, getting ready to battle.
'A draw?' It was then Kohaku realized it. 'When Pixels clash with equal might…In the chaos known as war…Could the card have been talking about him?'
"Gravity Queen, attack Pixel HERO – Brave Blade!" Phil yelled. Gravity Queen set the cat down and then raised her arm, causing a chair, a flower pot, and a trash can nearby to start levitating, hovering close to her.
"Brave Blade, counterattack!" Kohaku commanded, and the green-clad warrior took off running. Phil's monster launched the hovering objects at the charging warrior, but he slashed them out of the air with ease and leapt at her, swinging his sword, while she attempted a roundhouse kick to take him out. Her foot connected with his face at the same moment as his sword pierced her side, causing both to groan yet smile at the other before exploding in a flurry of pixels.
"Hee, well, I guess that's how it goes sometimes." Phil said. "Thanks for your help, Gravity Queen. I'll make sure to make it up to you."
'He's honoring his monster's sacrifice?' Kohaku noted. 'He's a really different kind of person, isn't he?'
"Nice opener, Phil!" Yoko called to her boyfriend. "Keep going strong!"
"Oh, I plan to." Phil replied before taking hold of another card in his hand. "Kaado ichi mai settei. Turn end!"
"GAME CARD INTERMISSION." The AR system said.
Phil loaded five cards into his D-Controller, but as Kohaku was about to do the same, he felt the unmistakable glow of the Silver Card in his pocket. He pulled the card out, observing the glow. "…I was right. It WAS talking about him!"
"What's that thing?" Yoko wondered.
"…I'm pretty sure we're about to find out." Phil told her.
Smirking, Kohaku put one of his five normal Game Cards back with the others before loading the Silver Card with the remaining four, making a full wheel of ten. The roulette started cycling through the cards, but it stopped dead on the Silver Card. "ACCESSING WORLD MAP." The card gave off a flash of light, revealing everyone to be back in the Medieval Plains area when it died down.
"Uh… Kohaku? You mind explaining this?" Phil asked.
"I don't know much about this thing myself, Phil-kun, but this thing has unlockable games in it that unlock whenever someone solves the riddles on them." Kohaku replied. "This one said that Pixels would clash with equal might in the chaos known as war. It must've been talking about this Duel."
"Pixel HERO vs. Pixel Soldier, both with 1400 Attack Points. That makes perfect sense!" Yoko said.
"So that means there's a new game you get to see?" Phil wondered.
Kohaku looked and noticed that the space going straight from the three-way was glowing red. "Looks like it!" He moved his D-Vatar back from the World 1-A spot and to the new red space, and the D-Vatar looked to see an AR screen with words:
World 1-5: Dungeon Maze
"This might be good. It is ON!" Kohaku chirped, pressing A and having his D-Vatar leap through the gate.
"'It is ON'? Is that some sort of catchphrase?" Phil asked.
Kohaku rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. "Hey, don't knock 'em til you try 'em!"
The gate widened and changed to look like a new AR screen, which showed Kohaku's D-Vatar standing in front of what appeared to be a solid wall, other walls caving it in except for one forward path. Kukiran then flew in. "Way to go! Yoko got it right: Two Pixel monsters with equal Attack Points clashed, making equal might! That's what got you in here!"
"Hey, how did she know my name?" Yoko asked. Kohaku and Phil shrugged.
"This game might be tricky. If you can't tell, you're currently trapped in the castle's dungeon." Kukiran said, making the D-Vatar flip out. "Hehehehe, don't worry! Check it out!" The fairy flew up as the camera zoomed out into a top-down view, showing that the walls were a large maze. "If you can make your way through the walls and out the path over here in time, you'll win, and I'll Special Summon a Level 4 or below monster from your Graveyard for you!" Kukiran was gesturing to an exit staircase in the top-right corner of the screen outside the maze.
'Hmm. The maze layout means I have to go clockwise near the other corners to get there.' Kohaku noted, Phil and Yoko also taking note of this.
"Huh? Hey, look!" The fairy flew over to another corner of the maze, where a familiar object sat.
"A Silver Coin!" Kohaku realized.
"It looks like this game has 3 Silver Coins just like Jester Jugglers did!" Kukiran said. "See if you can collect them! If you can, I'll… Oops, heh heh. Well, I would've reduced the Attack Points of your opponent's monsters by 400 for each Coin you picked up, but your opponent doesn't have any monsters on their field."
'Yet.' Phil thought.
"No worries. This Silver Coins look interesting, so I'm going after them anyway!" Kohaku chirped, his D-Vatar ready to go.
"Great! You've got 60 seconds to make it out of the maze! Don't dawdle too much, or you'll be stuck in here and you'll have to discard a card for losing! Good luck!" With that, Kukiran flew off, and Kohaku had his Gamepad at the ready, the camera zooming back in to make it first-person vision from the D-Vatar's point of view. A timer at "60" appeared at the top of the screen.
GO!
Kohaku moved his D-Vatar forward down the only path out of the maze's center. 'Good thing I memorized the maze layout before it zoomed in.' Kohaku thought. Turning through each path, Kohaku moved his D-Vatar toward the top-left corner of the maze. Unfortunately, in his travel, he ended up slamming the chibi Kohaku into a wall, dizzying it.
"Ouch…" Phil and Yoko groaned. Shaking its head, the D-Vatar quickly got back on track, finding a Silver Coin. When it touched it, the Coin flew to the top-left of the screen, being placed in one of three empty slots.
Silver Coin Get!
"Yosh!" Kohaku chirped, quickly getting his D-Vatar back on track with 51 seconds left on the clock, moving it southbound through the maze.
"This guy's actually got some gaming skills." Yoko mused.
"Yeah… This might be pretty fun after all." Phil concurred. Kohaku got his D-Vatar to the second Silver Coin and grabbed it.
Silver Coin Get!
Phil smirked. "Revision: This WILL be fun." Kohaku started moving his D-Vatar to the bottom-right corner.
Kohaku ended up at a four-way intersection with 34 seconds on the clock. He sweatdropped. "Oh, crap, which was the right way?
"Kohaku, right, left, right, right, in that order!" Phil told him.
'This guy's helping me?' Kohaku wondered. Regardless, he decided to take his advice, going right, left, right, and right through the paths. Sure enough, he ended up right at the third Silver Coin, which he grabbed.
Silver Coin Get!
"Huh. It did work." Kohaku said, shooting a smile at Phil. "Arigatou!" Phil gave a two-finger gesture in response. "Okay, 22 seconds left. Let's get outta here!" He started moving his D-Vatar toward the top-right corner of the maze.
"Left!" Phil told him, Kohaku taking his advice. "Straight!" Kohaku moved right forward without turning.
"Phil, why are you helping him?" Yoko asked.
"Why not? It's not gonna hurt me." Her boyfriend replied with an easygoing smile. "Besides, I like this guy's style. Reminds me of my own… and my dad's."
Finally, Kohaku's D-Vatar found the exit to the maze, moving it out. "Did it! And with 9 seconds to spare!"
FINISH!
The camera panned out to show Kohaku's D-Vatar, who began jumping with a closed-eye smile. "Yatta, ha ha!"
Kukiran then flew back into the area. "All right, way to go! You got out with plenty of time left! And for that, I'll Special Summon Pixel HERO – Brave Blade from your Graveyard for you, since it's the only Level 4 or below monster there, after all." The AR screen faded to white, and Kohaku's D-Vatar jumped back through the gate into the castle with Kukiran on his tail. The red circle for the game turned blue, then with a brief glow, the three Silver Coins flew out from the D-Vatar. "Nice job! You got all 3 Silver Coins!" The coins then flew up and zoomed in as their glow dissipated, showing that they were emblazoned with the Greek letters Alpha, Beta, and Gamma. The Silver Coin Table appeared, and the Coins were placed in the first three slots.
Silver Coins Collected: 6/24 (Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Kappa, Lambda, Mu)
"You're doing great so far. Bonus Games or not, only two more games before you can reach the final level of this World!" Kukiran flew down the castle's main pathway, passing through two doors with the camera following her before reaching the throne room. The space in front of it was still black, but strange rippling purple rings lined the space's rim. "This is a Boss Game. Make it here, and you'll have a tougher challenge to take on. Hopefully you get here soon!" Kukiran then flew off, and everyone's vision was blinded by white. It faded to reveal them back in the AR space with the game screen gone, then a white portal opened in the ground, returning Pixel HERO – Brave Blade to the field.
Pixel HERO – Brave Blade: Lv.4 EARTH Warrior ATK:1400/DEF:1600
"Whoa, that AR effect was intense... and AWESOME!" Phil chirped.
Both Duelists ejected their Game Cards, and Kohaku stared at the Silver Card, which, for some reason, wasn't marked to show that it wasn't playable anymore. "Yeah... and also weird." He mused. "Every passing day confuses me even more. I've had this thing for a couple weeks now, and I still barely know anything about it."
"Maybe it's a new Game Card prototype that's circulating?" Yoko wondered, scratching her head.
"Doubtfully, babe. I know maybe a little too much about Game Cards, and I never heard any rumors about something like this before." Phil said.
This made Kohaku blink. "Wait. You're a Game Card expert too?"
Phil nodded, pulling out his Game Deck and fanning the cards out. "I got the largest collection of Game Cards at my school. Maybe even all of Gamma. Sucks that this deck needs a limit to it like the Extra Deck."
Kohaku scanned Phil's Game Cards, counting them. "21, 22, 23… 24." He smirked. "I admit your collection is awesome, Phil-kun. Heck, you've got a bunch of the same Game Cards as I do! But in terms of sheer numbers..." He pulled out his own Game Deck and fanned it out. "…I've got you beat!"
Phil and Yoko's jaws dropped. "28, 29, 30… and it keeps counting!" Yoko cried. Her voice began to stammer. "I… I didn't know anyone could have that many cards…"
"I'll be damned… a fellow Gamer." Phil said. He chuckled. "Ha, I knew there was something about you I liked, Kohaku."
"Likewise, Phil-kun." Kohaku said, putting away his Game Cards. "It's nice to know that someone from another District kept their sanity in all of this. I may not know what all this chaos is about, but I do know one thing:" He turned his visor backwards. "It won't stop me from enjoying this Duel!"
Phil smirked. "Me neither. I hope you're ready, Kohaku, because, as my dad would say, it's time..." He took a stance. "…to get your game on!" Kohaku and Phil's smirks were nearly identical.

RK777: You never told me the Game Card Deck had no limit to it.
Vile: Where'd that come from?
RK777: Well, I just assumed it did. Still, this could contribute to Phil's character. *ponders* Hmmm...But that's for another time. I think Phil and Yoko just came out smashing, don't you?
Vile: Yeah, I think so. Hopefully no one gets on either of us about having Yoko in a cheerleader outfit. *notices a few leers from the crowd* *whispers* You know how the fanbase gets when it comes to female characters...
RK777: If they were actually paying attention, they'll see she's not your stereotypical airhead. In time they'll see the depths of Yoko just like they will for Phil.
Kohaku: I gotta ask just because I know someone else will, but with me using SSB cards, and Phil using PSASBR, any chance for XBox references?
Vile: Scattered ones, maybe, I don't own any XBox systems.
RK777: Me neither. And honestly, the only game I know for it is Halo. I'm honestly surprised it hasn't gone the way of Dreamcast.
Vile: I guess too many people love all the shooty bang-bang. XBox has SOME good games, I'll admit, but there's way too many realistic shooters. Definitely not my thing.
RK777: Not to mention they're first-person. Call me out for having a God complex, but I like to see the surroundings of my character. I'd like to know if something's coming up behind me before I take any damage.
Vile: Yeah. That's kinda why I stick with Nintendo: They're got more variety even with shooter games (thank you, Splatoon). But I've done enough XBox bashing. I don't need their fans storming my production room. If you guys liked this chapter, leave a review for me, and I'll see you guys in three days for Chapter 15! Ja ne for now!
Computer Voice: Vile, logging out.
RK777: Playstation rules!
