Blue and Hazel

An: I don't own Artemis Fowl

Fourteen.
Lunar hadn't heard from Opal since their last talk about the conniving Artemis Fowl. He was very surprised to receive a message from her. The message stated it was time for the plan to go into motion. The fairy male frowned. He tried to ask her about the Artemis problem but she glared and ended the conversation immediately. He wanted to ignore the whole thing but he was far too worried his message wasn't clear. He sighed. She was smart. He knew that for sure. She couldn't possibly be fooled by Artemis. Could she?

As he walked down the halls of LEP headquarters he casually tapped upon one of the female fairies, Vivian. Vivian worked with the paperwork side of the LEP. Anything happening in the LEP or in Haven had to be recorded and she was the one to go to for the proper forms. She archived all their most precious cases and was the only one who could open the very confidential file room. Foaly had insisted she switch to digital but Vivian's job was too delicate. It was the one thing no one could touch, except for the commander of course.

Lunar knew the female fairy was now casually watching him walk away. After a few minutes she would excuse herself and meet with him in their usual spot. What the LEP didn't know was Vivian had been working underneath Opal for a while now. Opal recruited Vivian right after Lunar.

"Is it time already?" she questioned giving him a stunning smile.

He nodded firmly when they were finally alone at his own apartment. She let out a sigh of relief as she ran her finger through her long brunette tresses. Her standard LEP uniform was in slight disarray. She assured him it was nothing too serious. One of the traffic offenders decided to become aggressive. Although she worked behind a desk she was no frail flower. She could hold her own. He often wondered why she never stepped up. She explained all the run around was never for her.

"How rude of me," Lunar remarked. "Care for a beverage?"

She raised both her brows. "Please, Lunar, I'm not here for pleasantries."

He nodded as he served himself. She sat across from him patiently waiting for his instructions from Opal. Opal always found it would be too dangerous for two of the LEP officers to be receiving the same information from her. The better option was to send information to lunar and he would pass it to Vivian. Lunar couldn't see the difference. Opal has seen many plans fail in the past. Her precaution was inevitable.

"So," she asked carefully. "Have you been talking to Griffith?"

"Yes, when I can," Lunar responds. "He is a strange one. He doesn't like me very much."

Vivian chuckled. "Who would, you are suspicious. Even I wouldn't talk to you."

He smirked. "Yet here we are. Have you tried talking to him?"

"Yes and I was successful. It pays to be thought of as a timid librarian. More individuals want to talk to you. I've found out some interesting things about our fellow LEP."

Lunar didn't wish to partake in gossip. That wasn't why he called Vivian to his place. He had to get through to one of the children of the Fairy Council members. Out of all the children Griffith was the most promising candidate. They had been worried initially that he would be too old but sometimes even teenagers could be impressionable.

"Are we still certain about Griffith? I'm certain Madeline would be just as easy to convince."

"Madeline wouldn't dare go against her mother's wishes," he reminded. "Griffith on the other hand is what one would call a free spirit. He doesn't even want to follow in his father's footsteps. He would be happy to take your advice."

Vivian smiled knowingly. "I give great advice. What I don't understand is why someone who doesn't care about the LEP show up to our headquarters so much?"

Lunar shrugged off the question. Now that he knew Griffith was listening it was definitely time to push him a long a little more. Griffith was an important step in their overall plan. Without his compliance the whole mission could fall through. A failed plan would lead to an unhappy Lunar and an especially unhappy Opal. Opal is someone who should never be angered. He hadn't seen her full wrath yet and he hoped to keep it that way. He turned back to Vivian who was currently eyeing one of the bowls of delectable fruits.

"I need you to speak with him one more time," he commented. "He wants to break from his father's overbearing nature I just know it. He just needs the ever sweet LEP timid librarian to give him advice one more time."

"I was going to anyway," she laughed as she grabbed an apple. "Is the next phase in order? Or are we going to have to improvise."

Vivian polished the apple with immense care before taking a rather monstrous bite. For a moment Lunar was distracted by such outright disregard for manners. Vivian never displayed such behavior before. He guessed their meetings were bringing them closer. He quickly answered before he descended into another round of thoughts.

"No, Opal stated everything else is in place. We just have to wait."

Vivian groaned. "I despise the waiting game. The future is so clear I just can't wait. Can you imagine a world where these mud people don't live above us? A world where they don't pollute the earth and destroy everything they touch."

"Yes," Lunar beamed. "I do see the future but we have to wait. Everyone has to be in place."

She sighed heavily. Vivian had the same passion for justice as he did. She too had been around for the Artemis incident. She had to fill out the paperwork and boy was it a stack of paper. Lunar only knew her feelings because surprisingly she had come to him. He watched Vivian vent for hours over some lunch. After their meeting Lunar decided to tell Opal about her and soon she was working for Opal as well. Lunar had led Vivian to Opal. She thanked him every day for that.

"Well, I have some minor traffic cases to archive."

"Why haven't you gone digital yet?" Lunar snickered.

"Really?" she scoffed. "Foaly's tech may be welcomed everywhere but not for me. I feel confident in the storage system of the archive room. Technology has the ability to fail."

"True, but paper can fade."

She rolled her eyes. "I'm not that against technology. I do type everything and print it. And okay I save the files on the computer too but don't let Foaly know that. He may thing I want a digital library or something."

He chuckled. "Foaly."

Vivian grinned. "Alright I will talk to the boy tomorrow. And I'll let you know how it goes later."

Lunar watched her leave with a small grin upon his face. Nothing could protect nor prepare the mud people for what was soon to occur.
